Application CRASH Message at QUIT

Question

What change in my System could result in my getting "Application ** has unexpectedly quit..." every time I chose OPT-Q to purposely Quit the Application? Sometimes also OPT-Q or using menu item QUIT doesn't work and I am forced to FORCE QUIT.
Using OS 10.3.9 without any new preferences or applications.
Is there something I need to clean-up?

Does this happen with all applications?
Do you have enough free space on your HD? This information is available at the bottom of every Finder window.
I would try three things in this order.
1. Run Repair Permissions in the application Disk Utility, which is found in Applications/Utilities.
2. In your Admin account, open Terminal, found In Application/Utilities and copy and paste the following command into it.
sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
Press Return, and type in your Admin password which will not be echoed and will just appear blank as you type it.
After entering the password, press return and be patient as it works until the prompt returns. If no maintenance has been done for a while it may take a couple of minutes. It may appear as if nothing is happening, but it is working invisibly in the background. Don't interrupt it.
3. Run the Repair Disk from the installer CD.
Insert the Install Disk 1 into the drive and then select Restart; when you hear the chime hold down C key until the apple logo appears.
This will take you to the installation software, but you do not want to install.
Select your language, then go up to the top menu bar to Installer and navigate to the Disk Utility application.
Select the start up drive, then go to the First Aid pane where you can click on Repair Disk.
If it finds errors, repeat the process until it reports no errors.
After these repairs, quit the application, and restart normally.
Once restarted normally run Repair Permissions from the Disk Utility application found on your hard drive in Application/Utilities.
