Hi SriBalaram,
According to your description, it seems the crash is caused by crystal report in your project. For this kind of issue, I would suggest go to its official forum http://scn.sap.com/community/crystal-reports-for-visual-studio/content?filterID=content~objecttype~objecttype[thread] for
support.

Controlling Access to Certain Reports When Using Crystal Reports Server
Hi,
I was wondering exactly how security is managed when using Crystal Reports Server? Do you assign rights to individual reports via user ids in Active Directory? Or what exactly is used for user authentication? Is it possible to create local accounts? Thanks.Usually access is controlled by permissions which are set in the CMC (BO web admin tool). You can map 3rd party groups from AD or LDAP and then assign permissions to those groups or set up security with built in enterprise groups as well. You may elect to use any combination of the above. For more complex security models there can use database and row level security built into our meta layers called business views and universes.

C java0x222c main0x1164According to the documentation for interpreting hotspot logs, the following can be determined from yours:
"An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
Internal Error (53484152454432554E54494D450E43505001A8 01), pid=28689, tid=1
Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.5.0_13-b05 mixed mode)"
When the HotSpot VM generates an internal error it is referring to a line of code in your application. The hexidecimal string is encoding the source module and line number where the error occurs.
"Current thread (0x000386f0): JavaThread "main" threadin_Java, id=1"
Essentially means that the JavaThread is running interpreted or compiled code when the error occurs.
The rest of the hotspot identifies what the thread has done up to this point.... even though to you it appears that it fails on the open method, it looks like it is actually failing after the setDataSource method call.
I would suggest that you look at other logs, ie: application server logs, Solaris message logs, database logs to see if you can identify where things actually fall apart. The first place to start would be the database connectivity because it appears that is the last thing that gets generated in the log file. -

Application crashes when using JNI with Jdk 1,2, 1.3 and 1.4
Hi!
I have this application that has a GUI written in Java and a file parser written in C. JNI is used to connect these parts together. The problem is that the application only works when I am using jdk 1.1.8 but not when using jdk1.2, jdk1.3 or jdk1.4. I am running the application on a Solaris 8 machine.
I have not written the application myself but I am going to be working with it from now on. But I have today little knowledge with JNI and I have tried different approaches to solve the problem. For example I have tried to used DDD together with GDB to find out what the problem is but with no luck. When I run the application using jdk1.4 I get the following error when the JVM crashes:

From this information I think that the problem should be in the native method setDebug. But I have tried to set a breakpoint at the beginning of that function in the C part but with no luck. The application crashes before it reaches that position in the C file.
What could possibly go wrong between the setDebug function in the C part and the function call in the Java part?
When using GDB, GDB cannot figure out what is wrong it just returns a hex address, no function name.
I would really appreciate some help. I have tried everything that I can come up with!
Best regards
LarsI have figured out that the application fails on its first call to the native methods.
So I have this Bitmap class that contains all the native calls and it is defined shortly as follow:
public class Bitmap {
static {
System.loadLibrary("BitmapImpl");
native void setDebug(int debuglevel, int statistics);
There are many more native methods defined in Bitmap, but I only show the setDebug method because that is the first one that is executed and also the one that immediately fails.
My setDebug C function is defined as follow in BitmapImpl.c
#include <time.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <limits.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <jni.h>
#include <math.h>
#include <errno.h>
#include "Bitmap.h"
#include "data.h"

TLV Error when using crystal report in application from Terminal Services
Our accounting software is generating the error:
Invalid TLV record
The error is generated from every user except one, for that one user everything works fine.
i've checked the file permissions on the rpt files as well as the dll, everything is correct and i'm now lost.
Any ideas on where else to start looking?Ah.. I hate when they do that, if you are going to write an application then support it.... At least help figure out why it's failing other than just saying it should work....
I would get on a call with them and get a Manager involved, someone there should be able to help you...
In the mean time:
First easiest way is search for crpe32.dll, there should only be one version and it should match the est of the file versions. Next step will tell you the versions being used.
OK, download [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip]. what this app will do is list all of the runtime files each user has access to. You can save and then compare the list files between the one working PC and any other user. Should help determine what is missing or the users profile doesn't have access to or not installed.
Another option is to use ProfileMonitor from Microsoft, it will list all access issues including the registry keys that all users need to run CR.
Can you tell me what version you are using?
Also need to know what version of TS?
OS it's running on?
And work station OS?
One more option, go to this link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/advancedsearch?query=boj and search on "invalid tlv" and it will return a bunch of know reasons why you can get that error.
Thanks
Don

Specific User receiving Application crash when using Remote Desktop Application
I have a client running a server with their line of business software configured as a remote application. I have one user that when he attempts to run the line of business software as a remote application he receives a APPCRASH error.However if another user
launches the remote application and then signs in as the problem user there is no APPCRASH.
The following information is reported with the error:

just trying to find some sort of hint as to way the remote application would crash for just one user. it is my luck that the one user is the owner.It looks like the issue was resolved by deleting the problem users profile off of the terminal server. Application crashes when using @NAME
We have an outline with dimensionsPlanversion ... 2002_12 2003_01 2003_02 2003_03 ...Jahr 2001 2002 2003I want to use the following formula for a member in the accounts dimension "Kostenart":IF (@ISMBR(@LSIBLINGS(@MEMBER(@SUBSTRING(@NAME(@CURRMBR(Planversion)),0,4))))) 1;ELSE #missing;ENDIFThis formula validates on the server but if validated on the client a message pops up saying "This function must be a macro" and the outline cannot be saved.So I wrote a macro with maxL:MAXL> create or replace macro '@ISMBRLSIBLCURRMBR' (Single) AS 2> '@ISMBR(@LSIBLINGS(@MEMBER(@SUBSTRING(@NAME(@CURRMBR(@@1)),0,4))))' 3> spec '@ISMBRLSIBLCURRMBR(dimName)' 4> comment 'checks if current member is left sibling of a member deducted from a substring of the current member in another dimension';and I changed the member formula to:IF (@ISMBRLSIBLCURRMBR(Planversion)) 1;ELSE #missing;ENDIFWhen I try to start the application it immediately crashes with a Dr. Watson in esssvr.exe (Exception: access violation 0xc0000005, Address 0x0023110d). Essbase creates an exception error log.If I do not use the @Name function, the application starts properly. But there is a problem when compiling the member formula:"Error compiling formula for [ERLOESE_HR] (line 2): expected type [STRING] found [MEMBER] ([@ISMBRLSIBLCURRMBR]) in function [@ISMBRLSIBLCURRMBR]"IMO the remedy would be to use @Name. But this causes the application to crash! Is this a bug in the @Name function? Are there any other ways to achieve the desired functionality? Please help!Best Regards,GeraldPS The problem occurs with Essbase 6.22 and 6.24
I have figured out that the application fails on its first call to the native methods.
So I have this Bitmap class that contains all the native calls and it is defined shortly as follow:
public class Bitmap {
static {
System.loadLibrary("BitmapImpl");
native void setDebug(int debuglevel, int statistics);
There are many more native methods defined in Bitmap, but I only show the setDebug method because that is the first one that is executed and also the one that immediately fails.
My setDebug C function is defined as follow in BitmapImpl.c
#include <time.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <limits.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <jni.h>
#include <math.h>
#include <errno.h>
#include "Bitmap.h"
#include "data.h"
jint debug = 0;
jint statistics = 1;
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_Bitmap_setDebug
(JNIEnv *jenv, jobject jo, jint d, jint s)
debug = d;
statistics = s;
My libBitmapImpl.so file is compiled using the following Makefile and using GNU gcc:
JAVAPATH=$(JAVAINCLUDEPATH)
LMACRO=-D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DSOLARIS

How to get the total page number when using Crystal Report in JSP
In my JSP, I use the class CrystalReportViewer to generate and display the report views. But this class only sypply the function to get the info of the active view.
Thus with this info, I only can get the active view's page number. How can I get the report total page number without showing the last page first?
Thanks.Anything you do without submitting to form has to be done on the client side (ususally by JavaScript) using data which has been send already from the server.
With JavaScript you can do quite a bit. You can download tables which don't necessarilly appear on the screen, loading them into JavaScript arrays by dynamically generating javascript. Then you can pick up events like drop-box selection and use these tables to chose what you do next (e.g. preloading other fields, setting drop box content etc.).
Or, you can cause forms to be submitted when actions like a selection happen without the user clicking a button. It's generally a matter of how much data you'd need to transmit.
Another posibility is to use a Java applet, which can generate requests to the server and handle the results as it chooses. That are a number of problems with that but occasionally it's the best solution.
What you can't do is to handle user input inside a JSP. The JSP has come and gone before the user even gets to see your form. -
Currently in our application, we are using Crystal Report XI R2 for generating the reports. We are in the process of upgrading the Crystal Report to SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). I updated that on my machine and all the reports work fine. I didn't have to modify any of the reports.
However when comparing the reports, we found that there are few reports on which the total no. of pages differ from the report displayed using Crystal Report XI R2 vs SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). Comparing the reports, it looks all the data that were fit on one page earlier with version XI R2 doesn't fit on the same page with version 13.8, thereby increasing the page counts.
The fonts, page margins everything set on report itself. Nothing being set in the code.
Both the application is using the same report that is pulling the data from the same database. Our application is a web application.
Any suggestion, why this is happening.
Thanks.
SanjayI am not sure what is being compared here?
CRXI R2 designer to CRVS?
CR XI R2 in some version of .NET to CRVS?
CR XI R2 using RDC SDK to CRVS?
Also, is this happening on your development computer or after you deploy?
If you compare the the "Page setup" options dialog between reports that work and those that do not work, do you see any difference?
Is this a web or a win app?
Are you seeing the same issue when viewing and exporting - say export to PDF?
What is the printer driver used and it's version?

How to use crystal report client?
Hi all,
In my java application we are using crystal report for generating report. For certain condition we are not in the position to use crystal report server. So, is that any possibility to generate the report without crystal report server? i heared something we can generate the report through by using crystal report client...is that possible?
Please help me..
Thanks,
ShivaI did that and i set up a trace file withing the sql.net and i reviewed the file and everything is looking fine for me, there is no error at all.
i can see his session created when he build new connection and run any query, but if he modified that query, the connection is dropped, still dont get it.
he used to use before VPN but now he has direct connection.
i also put this parameter in his tnsname.ora file (RECV_BUF_SIZE=11784)
there is only one thing strange, when i try to use sqlplus /nolog, i couldnt run the sqlplus, or tnsping and it keeps telling me any orginized program or something like that, i asked him to install the oracle client again, because looks like some libraries not working fine, however he complian the crystal report works fine, so oracle client must work ok, i explained to him it is totally different thing, but he refused to confess.
so i dont know what else i should do, -

Hi
I am having problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on one of my windows application.
I am not sure how to put the Crystal Report Viewer 11 Control onto the tool box.
I could found a Crystal Report Viewer control on my computer, but it is version 8.5.
I have also found another one which is Called Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, i don't think it is the one I can use. As when I try to load a dummy report on to the Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, It return an error. "specified type is not valid"
Please see the Code sample below.
private sub loadReport()
Dim r as New ReportDocument
'v is the name of the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control
r.Load("C:\Report1.rtp")
v.ReportSource(r) <---It throw error on this line.
End Sub
Could you give me some advice about what have I done wrong, How to check if I have set up the Crystal Report Component correctly in my Visual Studio 2005 Standard edition.
Thanks in advances.
Many thanks
ChiVS 2005 Standard and Express editions do not come with Crystal Reports; only the Professional and higher editions will have CR bundled. However, I believe you can purchase CR XI R2 Developer and it will give you the components you need to create a VS .NET 2005 application using the Standard edition.

Deploy Visual Basic 6.0 RDC application using Crystal Reports 9 on Windows Vista
Post Author: albe
CA Forum: General
When attempting to deploy a Visual Basic 6.0 Report Designer Component (RDC) application using Crystal Reports 9 on Windows Vista systems, the application fails after the first print or preview (that show normally) and an error occurred: -2147417848 Method '' of object '' failed.
The app use the RDC and Active Data; I verify that the problem is encountered when the app calls the 'SetDataSource' method.
I tried everything that came in my mind: reinstalling it a few times, with administrator priviledges, disabling uac, manually registering dlls, ...
I hope that this will be fixed, since Crystal Report 9 is the last CR version compatible with windows 98.
thanks in advance,
AlbertoHello,
This forum is for community use and is not considered a support site. For assistance you need to purchase a case from our support site. But 9 is no longer a supported version so this is your only place to get assistance.
