System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items.  Remove/delete all you do not need and/or want.
How large is your HD & how much space do you have left?
is there any posibility to get back my all automaticaly deleted data/file/document/pics
You did not mention that you emptied the trash.  If you did not empty the trash, remove the items from the trash & put them back where they belong.
Files that you have set up do not get automatically deleted.  It's done by human/user instructions.  Anybody else has access to your comp?

  • Application damaged or incomplete.

So I was working and suddenly one of the applications hang (rainbow wheel) so I did force quite and when I tried to restart the application I noticed it was erased from its folder. The app folder was totally empty. I quit all applications, run disk repair and restarted the computer. Now I can't open a lot of applications and I receiving the message that the application is damaged or incomplete. The icons are turned to error icons. Im talking about 20 appa are wiped out of my computer. I also received error message -10810 after trying to start one of the wiped out apps.
What happened? What can I do?

This is what happens in a hard disk failure, some disk sectors are wiped, destroying your apps an data.
If it is a fisical hard disk failure, it will continue to loose files till one day the system itself can't load and the computer don' boot.
Save your valuable info, as soon as posible.

  • Installation Problems - "Applications Damaged Or Incomplete"

Hello! I would greatly appreciate some help on this matter. I recently purchased CS4 Web Premium and began installing it on my Macbook Pro. After the first disk was finished I inserted the second disk and walked away for 15 minutes. I came back to see the login screen so I assumed the installation was complete and that my computer automatically restarted. However, when I look in my Applications I see that critical items are missing (like Photoshop Extended) and although some icons/folders are there the programs won't open (a pop-up appears saying that the application is "damaged or incomplete". What should I do? Please help me!

Is it really possible to delete applications for good that easy though?
If you run as an admin user, yes you can delete many apps without any "Are you sure?" type warnings. Some operations require you to confirm them by entering an admin name & password, even if you are logged in as admin.
You can also move apps to non-standard locations or rename them, which sometimes makes it seem that they are deleted when they are not. If you can remember the steps you took before you noticed that the apps went missing, it may shed a clue about this.

  • When I try to open iPhoto a box comes up that says "You can't open the application because it may be damaged or incomplete."  I just scanned some pictures in, and then this happened.

Does anyone know what to do if you try to open iPhoto and the box comes up and says "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete."  Previous to this I added some pictures and documents that were scanned from my Lexmark all-in-one.  Now I can't open iPhoto.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    Happy New Year

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

my app store will not open. when i try to open it i get an error that reads "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete". How can I fix this?

I am having the exact same problem.  MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple.  After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged."  There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon.  Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion).  Did not work.  I also updated the software from "Software Update".  Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was.  I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas?  Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)

  • The document "SpeechSynthesisServer.app" could not be opened because it is damaged or incomplete.

I just upgraded from Mac OSX 10.6.8 to OSX 10.8.
I logged into my account for the first time and had this error:
The document “SpeechSynthesisServer.app” could not be opened because it is damaged or incomplete.
From what I've been able to find, the SpeechSynthesisServer.app has to do with the Text-to-speech recognition.
Initially, I was unable to get text-to-speech to work correctly.  But after I reset the key command, it worked.
Is this something I should worry about?

    jfaughnan wrote:
I think this bug may hit people whose user accounts have gone through a few versions of OS X AND are going directly from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. In my case my user account started out with 10.2 - so it's picked up some cruft.
There are several items in my non-admin user Preferences:Users and Groups:User:Login Items that are not in my Admin account user including an item called SpeechSynthesisServer. It had a yellow warning triangle next to it and the data type was unrecognized.
I removed it from Login Items, logged out, logged in, and the bug was gone.
The LoginIn item is referencing a system app, that app is still present post upgrade:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A
    /Frameworks/SpeechSynthesis.framework/Versions/A.
I suspect the app is still important. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING IN SYSTEM/LIBRARY. Just leave it alone
iTunesHelper was also on the one user's LoginItems and I removed it.
I think there are a couple of bugs with the Login Item migration from SL to ML. For example, a disk image I mounted showed with a yellow icon too. I removed it, added it back in, and it was fine.
    Thanks jf.  That's helpful.
I installed ML an hour or so ago, going from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2.  Having read quite a few comments I decided to take my time over this.
ML downloaded fine. About half an hour maybe.  Installed itself then my iMac was restarted and, hey-presto, I'm back in business with a new OS.
Bit worried that my iMac was now rather sluggish, but not overly so because some kind person had posted on the App store that his Mac speeded back up after he had restarted.  This proved the case for me too.
Went through all the set up screen re iCloud and App store.  All the while I noticed my external backup drive was very busy too. Must be using it as temporary space I thought to myself.
Anyway, I decided that the first thing I should do is run Software Update.  I had several items that needed updating and whilst one of them was installing, that dreaded message that all you guys are talking about popped up.  I took a screen shot for later.
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11373233/MacDiscussions/SpeechSynth%202012-12-08%20at%2 016.05.39.png
Not long after this my iMac's sceen turned black.  I assumed this was due to the screen saver cutting in.  It had done so about every 5 minutes during the time ML was downloading - apparently without causing a problem. I left it a while, then fired up the screen again.  Then I got a dreadful fright when a message came up full screen telling me my iMac had encountered a problem and it was having to restart!
I decided toplay it cool and let everything play through and let the Mac restart, see what happens. Turned out I was worrying unnecessaryily, all I needed to do was run Software Update again.  I downloaded the items individually this time, not all in one go like before.  All seems okay - at the moment.
I still don't know what this SpeechSynthesisServer.app problem is.  Text to Speech still seems to work.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the new Voice recognition that I'm itching to try out.
Anyway, I'm leaving Voice recog alone for now until I'm more familiear with ML.
"DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING IN SYSTEM/LIBRARY."  I notice that the Library is now hidden from us. Maybe what you say is the reason why?
By the way, I think I worked out why my iMac was sluggish when I first fired up ML.  Spotlight was rebuilding it's database!

  • Application "Library" damaged or incomplete

Whenever i try to open a video on a memory stick I get the error message my Library may be damaged or incomplete. It works fine on other computers. It also wont play direct from my iTunes folder on my external drive.
    Thanks anyone??

    Hello Brian,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with opening .mp4 files from the Finder.  It sounds like you may need to set iTunes (or an alternate application that plays .mp4 files) as the default application to open .mp4 files on your computer.
    Use these steps:
To always open a document with a specific application:
In the Finder, select the document’s icon and choose File > Get Info.
In the Info window, click the disclosure triangle next to “Open with.”
Choose the application you want to use from the pop-up menu.
If you want all documents of this file type to open with the same application, click Change All.
In step 3, be sure to select iTunes (or an alternate application that plays .mp4 files) from the Applications folder on your computer.

  • Applications downloaded are consistently "damaged or incomplete"?

For the last few days, I have tried to download some simple applications from the web.  Unfortunately, I broke down and bought an Android Tablet for myselft, (the wifey gets the ipad II) and I am trying to get some file transfer applications between the tablet and my mbp.  Dropbox, doubletwist, etc.  Everytime I try to download any of these applications for my macbook, i get the error message that the application cannot be opened due to it being damaged or incomplete. I was expecting the problems to be with the Android tablet, not my Mac!   Could this be due to the terrible bandwith im working with right now?  (Less that 1 mbps) Or could this be a bigger issue with my mbp?  Im running Lion on a 13".

Thanks for the ideas folks.  Unfortunately I did all the tests you recommended and it looks like its on the MBP, not the slow internets fault.  I am able to download just fine with the my Mini on the same internet connection. I also noticed that I cannot access any thing off the APP Store as well.  I can open the store, however I cannot down load anything.  I also noticed while doing the tests between the two Macs, that my MBP behaves differently when I do the ol' put the icon into the Apps folder.  The desktop goes blank for a second, and there is no confirmation (or progress bar).
So.....  Can I ask if you know where to start researching on how to reinstall the OS w/o loosing years of collecting and hard work?  From what I understand, I shouldnt use Time Machine because it may get me right back to the same issues? ( Like a fool, I never used it. My only backup would be with the buggy OS I have now).  Also, what do think caused this to act up today? I use my mbp everyday and dont want a repeat because of something I have done, or do regularly.
    Thanks Again.

And reinstalled just textEdit but no luck, then I deleted TextEdit and reinstalled it again and I was still getting the same message.  Tried pacifist this morning again but this time I tried reinstalling the whole apps package half way through its says it cant reinstall due to multiple missing files.
Tried the repair option on the OS  disc it says everything is fine

    Here’s some updates.
I can not uninstall Flash (CS4) using "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium". It looks like Flash is not installed.
If I try to install it using the disk, it looks like Flash is not installed at all. So I go thrue the installation process, and follow the instructions, until it’s complete.
But if I go in my App folder, and look in the Adobe Flash CS4 folder the Flash.app icon has a circle with a bar in it. This is when I get the message.

Time machine under system preferences lets me setup time capsule. But backup fails because "Volume is in use" Help please!

It does sound like you have a corrupted install.
The volume in use error is something we see all the time.
    Look at C12 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
But I suspect you have more serious issue.
I would run a disk verify on your local OS disk. A5 in the above reference has some info.

  • Error: "You can't open the application....because it may be damaged or incomplete"

I just wiped a Macbook Pro and freshly installed OS 10.6.3.
I installed CS4 and when you try to open InDesign or Illustrator you get the error message:
"You can't open the application (InDesign or Illustrator) because it may be damaged or incomplete"
Photoshop and Acrobat work fine. What happened to these two?
The Icon to each of these two also have crossed out symbol over them.

This must really be a mystery.  Nearly nothing found using Google.  There seems to be a similar problem with iPhoto that happens and get this error message but no many solutions.
Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Nice. Shall I say goodbye to my treasured iPhoto library? What happened?
I did just upgrade my iPhone to OS 5. Could that be related somehow?
    Help!

    1. Back up your iPhoto Library - you should always have a back up anyway.
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    2. Reinstall
