Application Dependencies

Hoi!
I've faced somekind of a bug, i think. It's surly documented but i will ask here anyway.
I have a normal AO, nothing special, just association to a "install-user".
Its like a installation-chain of needed applications, like JAVA, adobe flash player, microsoft office etc.
In total i have 20 different AOs.
Flash player for an example, I'd made one "installation-AO" and a "patch-AO".
the installation-AO contains the msi-package, and the patch-AO distribute a file under the windows directory to disable autoupdates. Anyhow i want the installation-AO to get installed BEFORE the patch-AO.
I've never seen this before, but when i run the installation-chain-AO with the application dependencies, it takes ALL of the containing application in a total random order. F**ked up?
Is this behaviour normal?
I'd also checked "Continue distributions immediately" on all the AOs within this dependency chain.
Any help would be appreciated!

Jokohanho

Most of the snapins exept the 3rd part snapins are 7.0 anyway. Its alot of snapis^^

Nope, there is no force run.
With all those install-AOs id only associated workstation with "App launcher" checked. To be able to install it as workstation thru, "Distribution Options > Options > Distribute in Workstation security space if...."

On the other hand, if this has only started happening recently.. one would think 'what has changed?' besides Zen that might be resulting to this?
Is this random order happening everywhere, in in specific places?
Mmm, never seen it before. And I've looked thru the settings alot in C1 and ZENworks.
Its happening everywhere. With any user i use. (ive associated the chain to a user)

  • Application Dependencies for RAC DBs

What are application Dependencies for RAC DBs specially there connectivity, and High availability?

You'll probably get lots of suggestions based on lots of experiences, however, those things may or may not happen to your application. The best and always-applicable advice you'll get is that you absolutely must test your application in every possible scenario (and even scenarios you think are impossible) for how it reacts to failure as well as how it scales with parallelism and how much contention it creates due to its design. Create a realistic test environment, ensure you can produce realistic, real-world load on the application, and then start testing. With 11g, the load generation gets a lot easier to do with Real Application Testing. With earlier releases, it will be using more traditional methods/tools.
So, you'll get good advice, but it won't be a substitute for doing the actual testing work yourself with your application.

Hi, not must exist any dependency, for the applications must be transparent. The application only can see the service database where it cans connect and work.

  • CM12 - Reporting all Application Dependencies

Dear all, we have CM12 with 2000 applications defined. Some of the applications have dependencies set.
How to report all applications that have dependencies AND what those links are ?
From the Console GUI it is possible to add the "References" attribute that reports which applications have a reference to another application. How to obtain a list of all dependencies and clearly see which application is a parent, which is a child
Have searched the net and forums without an answer but see others have asked.
    D

    Hi
If you want to see from inside the ConfigMgr 2012 console, you have to do the following per application:
    Select the application
From the Ribbon, select View RelationShips -> Dependency
You will then get dependencies for that application shown graphically
If you want to see dependencies for all your applications, you will have to use reporting. I cannot remember if such a report exists that will give that information but I do not think so. So you will have to create such a report yourself or wait for others
in this forum to give you more information.

  • Complex application dependencies

I have a somewhat complex application dependency tree.
I have four applications A, B, C, and D. Each application is deployed in its own EAR file. B depends on EJB's from application A. C also depends on A. D depends on A, B, and C. In addition, A depends on B and C. So it makes a diamond, with A at the top, B and C side-by-side on the middle level, and D at the bottom. Each application is deployed in its own EAR file.
The parent attrib in server.xml doesn't handle this at all. First, you can only specify one parent for each application, and I have one app (D) that depends on three others. Also, the parent relationship only flows one direction. I have three apps that have bidirectional dependencies (A<->B, A<->C).
Putting all the EJB's in a single EAR file would be very clunky. A couple of my apps already take serveral minutes to deploy, putting them all together would seriously dent development productivity.
Has anyone else had complex dependencies like this? If so, how did you deal with them?
    Thanks,
    Lance

  • Conflicting Application Dependencies

    Hi
Can't quite work out if the problem I have had on multiple occasions is by design, a bug or it just hasn't been considered by Microsoft in the development, any thoughts please?
I will explain the problem by example:
QuickTime 7.7 is a required deployment to all computers. Dependencies:
    - Priority 1, Application Support 2.3, Auto Install: No
    OR
    - Priority 2, Application Support 3.1, Auto Install: Yes
iTunes 12 is available to all users. Dependencies:
Bonjour AND Mobile Device Supp AND Application Support 3.1 - all auto install: YES
Application Support 3.1 supersedes 2.3 and is set to uninstall before install.
Only QuickTime and iTunes have required deployments, others don't.
The QuickTime previously only had the app support 2.3 dependency with auto install. Therefore all machines tested have app support 2.3, and have updated policy so should see 3.1 as the OR dependency.
Go to install iTunes 12 from the Catalog and it always fails evaluation, I believe it should pass fine but assume it fails because it would need to uninstall application support 2.3 which is a dependency of QuickTime, regardless of the fact it will install
3.1 which is also the OR dependency. I would hope it would be able to work this out.
    Thanks

  • Application used in a TS is installing itself

    Hi guys,
if some Kind of strange behavior where I´am not 100% sure what is causing this... So here is the Situation: I´ve created an application "Nvidia Drivers" with 4 deployments types. Each DT uses a global condition as requirement to decide, based on
the Video controller, which DT is used. The application is deployed as available AND I´ve also added the same application to a task sequence. This TS is still the one which was used to install these and most of all our clients. The TS is also deployed as available
to these Clients (PXE and media only). After all that stuff we have seen some unexpected installations in the field, even after removing the deployment. So what is going on here? Is there some sort of "loopback" where the clients geht the application
from the TS where they once installed from? I´ve found some blog and other forum posts
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/umairkhan/archive/2014/03/08/configmgr-2012-application-supersedence-behavior-with-task-sequence-deployments.aspx

with similar issues, but always related do supersedence. I don´t have supersedence used here. Can anybody confirm or refute my speculation. I can provide log files shots in about ~8 hours since it is 11pm for me now, but you guys sure have some great ideas
until I´am back in the Office ;)
    Thank´s a lot...

Have a look at AppDiscovery and AppEnforce.log to see what's really happening.
I'm not surprised though. Even though the TS is only available to media and PXE, the applications used in the TS will be evaluated by the clients. (I know a few that don't use applications in OS task sequences for the same reason. Including
myself. The behavior is just weird.)

  • Application Installation Order in UDI Wizard

I was wondering if there is a way to control the order of installation with applications that are installed using the UDI Wizard.  I have certain software that needs to be installed in a particular order because of dependencies.  I have them listed
in the order that I want them installed in the UDI Wizard but when the task sequence is running the applications seem to jump all over the place when installing.  This causes a plug-in for Acrobat to not be there when the deployment is complete because
it tries to install before Acrobat is installed.  Acrobat is listed before the plug-in in the configuration but installs after the fact.  In the application package for the plug-in, Acrobat is listed as a dependency.
The plug-in will install from the application catalog after the OS is deployed.  I just want to know if there is a way to make it install after Acrobat during the task sequence.

  • Dependency after uninstall?

    Hi All,
Scenario is that we install Office 2013, Addin 1 and Addin 2 during OSD.
Addin 1 and Addin 2 are also used outside of OSD and therefore have a depencency on Office 2013.
We are now looking at deploying Office 365. We are using OffScrub to remove Office 2013 and then install Office 365 Click to Run. The addins are available in Office 365 with no intervention which is great.
However, it seems that Office 2013 wants to keep trying to reinstall although there is no deployment/advertisement to the PC for this application.
Question - because of the dependency from Addin 1 and 2 which were deployed during OSD, is Office 2013 trying to reinstall?
i.e. Are these OSD apps running detection methods and dependency conditions during normal policy refresh/app deployment cycle etc

It sounds a lot like this scenario:

  • How can I install Adobe Reader 10.1.0 Plugin for IE8?

All the forum responses I've seen show going to manage add-ons in IE and to enable the plugin.  I do not have an Adobe Reader 10.1.0 plugin under any add-ons to enable.  I've even unistalled/reinstalled this Adobe Reader version with no success.  Due to other application dependencies I cannot upgrade to Reader 11, though I know the Plugin does appear when I install Reader 11.  How do I get the matching plugin for 10.1.0?  Without it we are having issues with PDFs not opening in the browser.  Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for the help:
    i)Adobe Reader 10.1.0.  OS is Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64bit v1.0.  We utilize IE8 32bit browser.
ii)Due to other applications we currently cannot upgrade company wide yet, so 10.1 is not yet an option.  I did test locally and 10.1 did solve the issue, but that won't work for us at this time.  I need to find a way to add the plugin for 10.1.0 back to IE for employees.  It used to exist but something changed recently as PDFs stopped launching within IE window.  On all the support sites I see, people reference enabling the Reader 10.1 plugin within IE, so it must exist, I just need to understand how we can re-install it.

  • load-on-startup not working in weblogic 9.1

    Hi
I have the following xml tag in web.xml file
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> for some servlets, i have given then sequence 1 to 5, but for some reason 5 is loading first and the whole application crashes because of this.
do i have to mention anything in weblogic.xml?
Any ideas how do i fix this

Sounds like a bug. I'd suggest opening a case with [email protected]
FWIW, I get a little nervous about inter-application dependencies like

    Hi,
At this point, we really have not fully tested out JDK 1.7, and we rely on Android SDK to actually compile the app. Any way you can add JDK 1.6 to your machine, and configure the Android SDK to use JDK 1.6?
    Thanks,

  • JNLP and JRE versions...

I have a machine with JDK 1.2.2 and Java Web Start 1.0.1 (update package). I am accessing an app. that runs on JRE 1.3, but I cannot update to 1.3 yet due to other application dependencies. Is there a way that the downloaded app. can be packaged in such a way that it brings in JRE 1.3 in its JARs and uses it from the JAR, leaving my system at JRE 1.2.2 level?
    Thanks!

A jre is a lot more than the jars it loads. You can't run an application under 1.2.2 VM using 1.3 classfiles.
You can install some later versions of the JRE "privately". a private installed jre will not become the default on the system, but can be configured to be used in java web start applications.

  • Multiple JRE Installations and Coexistence

    Hi Guys
Could any of you please help at all.
I am looking to find out is anyone has experienced or knows of any coexistence issues relating to Sun JRE installations.
We have the following JRE versions deployed on our estate:
    1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_05 and 1.30_02
    These are existing application dependencies.
We are looking to also deploy version 1.5.0_05 for a new application so this could potentially be installed on a machine with any of the above versions already installed.
If anyone has experienced any coexistence issues with any of the above, I would be very grateful of your help.
    Many thanks all

6u10 offers a solution to this problem. The rewritten plugin in 6u10 allows the plugin to call the JRE version specified by the applet. The html source calling the applet must specify the version, which you may need to add if it is not already there.

After deployment i noticed that this simple Application hardly taking 10 minutes for me for deploying and document also produce the same.
Android SDkit is seems to slow to see my deployed App
Is there any possibility to improve the performance also those things.?
See the 46 to 48 line Log says :"Something harmful"
I followed the document as suggested i did int change anything. document also having the same.
From my understanding i have to change mode while deploying. i also cross check that there is no mode options while creating the deployment profile
please anyone tell me. what going on.

    Thanks.

    Subramanian ,
As mentioned in above post use release mode , not only does it reduce the deployment time to a few mins (from 10 mins as you specified) , but also reduces the archive size to a third.
See more details on how to setup release mode alongwith setting up the keystore -
