"Application failed to evaluate" during OSD after SP1 Upgrade

Hi,
Today i upgraded out configuration manager from 2012 rtm to 2012 sp1. The update process completet without any errors but now i'm unable to install application during osd. The first application crashed with the message:
Installation job completed with exit code 0x00000000
Execution status received: 16 (Application failed to evaluate )
in smsts.log
I know that there are some gotcha's regarding application installation during osd after sp1 upgrade. I already did the following steps:
- Update the deployment type of the application in my osd task sequence
- Re-Add the Network Access Account
- Removed the first application in the task sequence to see if the problem is application related
- Checked the option "Allow this application to be installed.." in the application properties
- Reboot my site servers
I can install application via Software Center without any problems, also the software updates are working normally.
Thanks in advance

  • CM 2012 R2 CU1 - Applications failing to install in TS after upgrade to R2 from SP1

    Hi,
We had a perfectly working TS in SP1.  We have upgraded to R2 CU1 and now we are seeing applications fail to download during a TS.  Not all applications are failing, and if we re-run the TS there is no consistency between which applications fail.
Content has been checked with the validation tool and the client version during the TS is R2 CU1.
The errors I am seeing in the logs are as follows:
    DataTransferService.log
    [CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=https://xxx:443/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_20447040-0e0e-4178-ad5f-8affb4c068ee.1, Port=443, Options=480, Code=12044, Text=ERROR_WINHTTP_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT_NEEDED

    Non-recoverable error retrieving manifest (0x80072f0c).
The app does not download and the installation is skipped.  This is a PKI environment, all certs are fine and these have not changed since the upgrade.  What I don't get is why some applications are okay and others are not.
    Any help appreciated...

I've tried adding comments to the application and to the deployment types within, still no luck.  For example appdiscovery.log showing:

I cant hear Voice during call after i upgrade 7.1 i use iPhone 4

    Hey there Goesdhar,
It sounds like you are not getting sounds from your receiver on your phone. I recommend the troubleshooting from the followint article named:
iPhone: Receiver and call audio quality issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5196
Increase the volume during the call.
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver. If you're using a protective case or display film, remove it and try again.
Make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Check the receiver opening to see if it is clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or a car kit, try turning off Bluetooth on your device. Learn more about troubleshooting Bluetooth connections.
    Restart the iPhone.
Make sure your device is up to date.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, contact Apple Support.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

    -Brad

Sorry about that previous post, I probably got distracted by a cat meme or something shiny ;)
I took at look at the full smsts logfile, and it seems to me that the detection method for the appmodel apps is failing. we aren't doing appmodel via TS as yet, so I don't know what "normal/expected" looks like when invoked via TS.
but it looks to me, that the detection methods is returning 0x87d00215 "app failed to evaluate" (which I'd expect at the time of a refresh), but it then returns 0x87d00269 "required MP not found", which seems very out-of-context
    to me.
are there appenforce.log and other appmodel logs that coincide with this smsts.log?
I fear I'm misunderstanding what this log is saying, the language/terminology of DCM is still foreign to me.
does "app failed to evaluate" mean, "the app detection markers were not found" (i.e. the app is not present), or, does it mean "the methods crashed so cannot determine if the app is present or absent" ?
if all of this is based on generic DCM concepts, then we should be looking for a condition, and getting a present/absent or true/false or something plain like that.

  • Satellite R630 - Driver issues on Win 7 64bit after SP1 upgrade

    Need your help here guys,
My Satellite R-630 is less than a year old, running a Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bit. For a while, I have been experiencing BSOD's, which I traced through the Event Viewer to here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd337789(WS.10).aspx
This did not lead me far enough.
Finally, I concluded through other forums that the SP1 upgrade would solve some of the annoying BSOD issues and I launched the download and upgrade. However, on restart, while my laptop seems to have been cured (so far) of the BSOD's, I have issues with drivers for:
    - Sound Card
    - USB Controllers
    - DVD Player
    - Webcam
    - Bus Enumerators
I have downloaded the indicated Win 7 - 64 bit drivers in each case. I tried installing them first. Nothing happened. I uninstalled the existing drivers, and installed them again. Nothing happened again.
I figured I must be doing things in the wrong order.
    So I tried installing
1). the Chip Set Utility (drivers?) first, then
    2). the USB drivers
    3). Sound card drivers etc.
    Nothing is happening still.
I am running out of ideas here.
P.S While all the other drivers executed fine when I extracted them from the .zip format, the Sound card driver refused to execute, even though the "run command" box was ticked when the .msi file was run.
I extracted it into a folder and ran it manually.
    Still didn't help.

That's where I got things wrong I think. I did not use the windows automatic update, because it kept saying connection was unsuccessful.
What happened is it identified a component of the SP1 as a "critical update", a 900 mb chunk (listed as windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5842 ) but would not download it. It failed every time. So I went on the windows download centre, looked up for the same component and installed it manually. Right now windows update turned green with the tick and says everything is fine.
I will try to restore my settings to the former configuration and let you know. I was about to try that last night, but I didn't see any restore date prior to the SP1 installation. I'll try this right now.
--*Edit:* So system restore isn't working. There is only one restore point that's prior to the SP1 installation. I've tried 3 times already. Every time it tells me that it could not access a file, probably because of antivirus. I use Avira. I disabled it the second time. Still same message. I uninstalled it completely for the 3rd trial, same message again.--
--So system restore isn't an option. Could it be that I missed a component that would be required for some drivers to work properly after the update?--
*Edit*: In all my troubles, I forgot an elementary step: run system restore in Safe Mode. Which I did. Now my system is back to before SP1, sound, usb connectivity working. I suppose everything is back where it should be. I'll just wait and see if i get a BSOD again and come back here if need be.
    Thanks guys.

  • X79A-GD45 windows 7 freezes during boot after bios upgrade/usb 3.0 drivers inst.

    Hello,
After I upgraded my bios from 1.3 to 1.4 I noticed I still had some not properly installed hardware in the computer management screen, so I used live update 5 and found the the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers. The system runs fine, except from a cold start.
When starting the machine, windows freezes on the 4 colour logo, before the usb initializes (this I can tell from the keyboard not lighting up).
A forced reboot does not help. However, going in the bios (to check if all drives are functional) and then booting, does. After this the machine runs fine again.
Now my question is, is this caused by the new bios or by the Renesas USB3.0 Drivers? Or is it something completely different?
    Thanks a lot,
    Floris

In the future, recommend to use the forum flasher found here with instructions on how to use it; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0
After a flash, it is also recommended to remove the power cord from the PSU, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS & reset.

  • Applications don't install from OSD after 2012 SP1 upgrade

After upgrading SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1, then to CU3 (to fix a PXE issue), my OSD task sequences no longer installs any applications after the OS.  Win7 installs with all drivers, the PC is added to the domain and the correct ConfgMgr client version is installed
with a healthy connection to SCCM.
However the C:\_SMSTaskSequence folder remains with the 7GB WIM file and none of the 12x applications installed.  A task sequence with the applications works when run from Software Centre.
Here's a link to the logs:
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=F6A8637E6F70F676%21110
EDIT: Removed paste of smsts.log file.  Added Skydrive link.

Thanks for checking it out.  Those errors are old entries from a year ago.  Not sure why they are still there; current issue date is 14-01-2014.  Network Access account is set and permissions are correct.
The TS logs look fine up to after installing the ConfigMgr client.  It then kicks off TSMBootStrap.exe:
    ==============================[ TSMBootStrap.exe ]==============================
    Command line: "C:\Windows\CCM\TSMBootstrap.exe" /env:Gina /configpath:C:\_SMSTaskSequence /bootcount:1
    Logging successfully initialized.
Resuming Task Sequence in Full OS
It then logs a whole bunch of:
Failed to open key Software\Microsoft\SMS\47006C006F00......  \SMSTS
then ends it with Exiting with return code 0x80070002 which is:
"The system cannot find the file specified."
And that's the end of the TS.  I need to find out what file it's referring to.  TSMBootStrap.exe exists in the correct path.

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
This problem was solved in SP1 if you are still having this problem after applying SP1, then you need to contact CSS directly for support, they will work with you to solve this problem.

  • 3GS reboots during calls after os4 upgrade

This is a bit different from screens staying black at the end of a call that I've seen mentioned.
Every call I make, after about 3 minutes the phone turns off and reboots. This would be a great moneysaving feature if was on Pay As You Talk! But I now can't use the phone for calls and have to warn people who call me that we'll get cut off

I too am seeing this. I'm on o2. This isn't happening for every call and this hasn't been happening for me consistently. Also, this can happen at any point in a call, I've been on a call for 1/2 hour before it resets.
Possibly this might happen when I get to a point of bad reception.

  • Pre-provision bitlocker during OSD with a Windows 7 Enterprise image fails at Enable Bitlocker - SCCM 2012 SP1 beta

I'm trying the SP1 feature to pre-provision bitlocker during OSD, using an MDT integrated task sequence.  It seems like the pre-provision part is working, but when the task sequence tries to enable bitlocker after installing the

This laptop is in an OU with bitlocker related settings applied via GPO, including allowing enhanced PINs, requiring backup of the recovery passwords and key packages to AD, and to require TPM+PIN for the startup authentication.
Bitlocker provisioning is working on my production server using only MDT (No SCCM), with a task sequence deploying Windows 7.  I copied some of the variables from the customsettings.ini over to a collection variable in SCCM for
the collection I'm testing deployment to. Putting those same variables in collection variables should work the same as if they were in the custom settings, but only for members of that collection, right?
The variables set in the collection variables area are
    BDEInstall - TPMPIN
    BDEInstallSuppress - NO
    BDEPin - SET
    BDERecoveryKey - AD
    BDERecoveryPassword - TRUE
    TPMOwnerPassword - SET
OSDBitlockerMode - TPMPin (This one wasn't copied from the other MDT share, but added just for sccm.
I didn't copy the BDEWaitforEncryption variable, it didn't seem like that one would be necessary with the pre-provisioning.   What am I doing wrong here?

If not you could add a set variable action to your task sequence after the UDI wizard to set OSDBitLockerPIN to %BDEPin%. You could add a condition to the action to only run if BDEPin exists.
I don´t quite fallow, how I can switch these variables between. I admit I some time have difficulties to understand the variables. Could you mark discribe me the settings of set variable step I have to enter. Thanks!
With Confmgr step Enable Bitlocker I have another issue - it does not allow to to enter pin code with letters.
No problem :-). There is a task sequence action called "set task sequence variable". Just add one of these actions to the task sequence after the UDI wizard. There are only two things you have to configure in the action, the variable you want to set
and the value you want to set that variable to. The UDI wizard will create the variable BDEPin with a value equal to the PIN you enter in the UDI wizard page. So in your "set task sequence variable" action enter the variable name as OSDBitlockerPIN
and the value as %BDEPin%. This action will then create the OSDBitlockerPIN variable with the value that was stored in BDEPin by the UDI wizard. The built in SCCM action will then use this as the PIN rather than whatever value is configured in the task sequence
    editor.
However the best solution would probably be to get the UDI wizard to set OSDBitlockerPIN rather than BDEPin in the first place. I think you can do this in the UDI wizard editor or directly in the XML. I don't use the editor these days so can't recall offhand.
I will take a look at this next week.
Most of the task sequence actions support variables and it enables you to configure the action dynamically at runtime. For example the same sequence can be used to deploy systems into different domains, languages, applications etc. all by setting variables.
It's the basis of how the UDI wizard works, it just sets variables which are then consumed by either MDT scripts or task sequence actions. The variables can be configured by UDI, collections, MDT customsettings.ini, MDT database or scripts. Dynamic deployment
is definitely the way to go :-).
I think you are correct about the built-in action not supporting enhanced PIN. I think it only supports standard numeric PIN. Whether setting the PIN via the variable works around a restriction in the task sequence editor I am not sure, I suspect not.
    Mark.

  • OSD with SP1 CU1 captured Win7 failed to deploy after R2 CU1 Update

    Hi guys,
quick question. We currently trying to deploy an Image as i said in the title. The Win7 has been captured with SP1 CU1 an we tried to install the R2 Client during OSD TS. This steps seems is the last that is executed in the TS after that, the TS Fails
with error: "Failed to create instance for IMTCTokenHandler interface, hr=0x8007005". Any suggestions ??
    Thanks guys....

In our case it is something related to the WinPE. If we use the version 5.0 (6.3.9600.16384) shipped with R2 the task sequence continues normally. If we change it back to the version 4.0 (6.2.9200.16384) the TS dies with the error from above. Here are some
    more detailed log entries:
