Application Install On Laptop Off Network

Question

I deploy an application to a number of users most of which have laptops they take home every night. They are configured in an appropriate boundary group. If the client downloads the policy prior to the end of the day and the user takes the device
home at night will the install still occur? I believe the client can act independent of the management point. What if I set it to run from a distribution point?

The client always acts independent from the MP. It connects to the MP every 60 minutes (by default) to retrieve its policy, nothing more. Enforcing that policy, including deployments, is completely independent from any communication with the MP.
Of course, enforcing a deployment typically also involves content so if the client does not have access to a DP with the content or has not cached the content locally (which it will do only for required deployments at their available time), then it won't
be able to successfully enforce the deployment. If the package is set to access the content directly from the DP, same, thing, it won't be able to enforce it which is why using that setting is generally not recommended (in addition to wasting disk space).
