Application list is empty-- Firefox 30

Using Firefox 30 under Windows 7, list of applications is completely empty--no file associations of any kind, and I'm unable to add any new ones. I've created a new profile, reset Firefox, done a complete uninstall and reinstall, to no effect. Any suggestions?

Using 25.0.1 under Windows 7, out of nowhere the list of applications has completely disappeared--no file associations of any kind, and I'm unable to add any new ones. I've created a new profile, reset Firefox, done a complete uninstall and reinstall, to no effect (a system restore was not an option, but that--I hope--is a different problem). File associations in other programs seem to be working, including IE 11. Any insight would be appreciated.

I just tried to get a torrent to open with Azureus in FF 3b4, but realized that the Edit->Preferences->Applications list i completely empty. When I try to open a file with Firefox I only get the usual Open With/Save dialog, but if I choose open with I have to manually find the application to open the file with. Shouldn't Firefox use Gnomes mime types? I tried removing the mimeTypes.rdf file, and even tried with a new profile. But whatever I do the applications list remains empty. I read about someone having the same problem and fixing it with the official build, but since I'm using x86_64 that's not an option. I could try building the new 3b5 to see if it fixes the problem, but I suspect that it's something else that's broken. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I don't know if there's any sense in it, but I like to not have any gnome anything installed on my system. Just the thought of that .gconf business sitting in my home directory gives me the willies. So, since I can't install gnome-vfs anyways, I decided to just write a script to handle the file:// URLs that firefox passes, and have it pass them all to the script. It's something like this:

E17 - Empty applications list in IBar/Favorite/Startup settings

Hi,
Recently I Installed fresh Archlinux system on my laptop. This time I wanted to try some lightweight WM so my choice was Enlightenment. Everything works perfectly on root but when I run WM from another (newly created) user I encounter some annoying trouble - there is empty applications list in IBar / Favorite / Startup Applications settings inspite of all installed apps are appearing in Main menu -> Applications.
I have no idea what causes problem, maybe wrong permissions? I tried deleting .e/ directory, and I also installed newest E17 snapshot from svn via arche17 AUR package but nothing has changed.
I also found possibly duplicate of this issue but there is no clues how to fix it.

It sounds like you are unable to see your contacts in the phone, but have confirmed they are still at http://www.icloud.com. I would next try these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts

If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn Contacts off. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Contacts back on.
Restart your iOS device by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and then swiping the screen when prompted to power off. Then turn your device back on. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

Export - File Character Set list is empty

Running version 1.6.1.00.02 on Oracle 10g. We are having problems moving a particular application into our production environment. Getting a parsing error. Doing some research - noticed that others have experienced similar issues - some threads have suggested making sure that the character set choices between export and import are the same. I've noticed that whenever we import, we must pick the character set. However, when exporting, the File Character Set list is empty - actually there's no type of drop down control present. Is this an issue?

I need to restore YahooMail to the mailto: application list

I accidentally removed Yahoo from the mailto: applications list: options>applications.
I found instructions here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/668267 for re-adding it to about:config but it hasn't gone from about:config.

You have to add your preferred email client to the Internet Options menu like this:

Version 5 on Mac won't save .eps files and won't add them to the applications list

I am trying to download .eps files on a Mac Firefox version 5 and i get an error message. i want to get Firefox to add that type to the application list but it won't do it. Messed up pref or ?

IPhoto won't open, it asks me to choose a library but the list appears empty

Today I when I turned my computer on my desktop display picture had been changed to a default image, and when I tried to open iPhoto a box appeared asking my to choose a library, but there were no options for me to choose from the list was empty. What do I do?

This is the message I receive when I try to open iPhoto. Then I'm not allowed to choose iPhoto in 'Other Library'. All I could choose is a recovered album that I was trying to upload last night. (It froze in the middle of uploading so I forced my computer to shut off.)

Secondlife.com has a system to access their world straight into their virtual world environment called "slurls" which can be used on any webpage. It appears that in IE this system works correctly, but not in Firefox.

To use servlets u have indeed to update your web.xml...Well I'm not sure this is relevant to your case anyway.
You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.
Something like this:

Now this may not solve your problem. Make sure you refer to your servlets using their full qualified names.btw, just to be sure, what is your definition of "servlet"? (i mean: any java class or only javax.servlet.Servlet)

Firefox3: application list display only a few filetypes

Hi,
if I try to download for instance a mp3-file, firefox uses mplayer-plugin to play the file in the browser and opens no dialog for choosing what to do with the file (e.g.: download). With firefox2 it was no problem to download a mp3-file.
Actually it should be possible to change the behaviour for a filetype under Edit->Preferences->Applications. But there are only a few filetypes displayed in the application list and mp3 and other filetypes are missing.

I also found no way to add new filetypes to the list.
This happens with the official build from mozilla (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18077) and with the package from pacman.
I searched for this problem in the mozilla support forum and with google, but found no solution. Deleting the file "mimeTypes.rdf" did not work either. Also deleting the whole folder ".mozilla" and restarting firefox did not help.

The package (mime-types) was already installed.
At least, reinstalling the package resulted in more filetypes to be displayed in the application list.
But mp3 and pdf (for instance) are still missing...

Application List problems - will Nokia ever addres...

The empty Application List problem on the Nokia Go To select options list is well known.
My new 5610 takes this a step further. When you try to select Applications List when choosing Go To options, the machine just hangs.
Has anyone else experienced this? I guess the phone's a bit new for a s/w upgrade...

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on 10.6.8 and now my Applications folder appears empty.

I installed Sophos 9.2.2 on my iMac with 10.6.8. It found "spyware" in the form of a pixel ruler app I downloaded last year (it apparently had the "cowhand-c" trojan or something like that). I let Sophos remove it and after that, my Applications folder was empty. The list of applications still appear in the Applications folder in Finder Window SIDEBAR but not in the Applications folder itself. The status bar says "0 items." After using the "showAllFiles" command, I now see only ".localized" The following actions have had no effect: removal of Sophos, reboots, and a permissions repair.
As far as I can tell now, there is no impairment to the function of my iMac, but it's weird. Can this be fixed?

Disregard. Date display in Mail is also screwed up. It's time to use that Lion license I've had for just in case.
My Sophos Antivirus experience: very bad. A lesson has been learned: don't install what doesn't come from the App Store. This is why people say that some security software is as bad as the stuff you're trying to defend against.

Home Folder Applications folder is empty

Using Finder, if I select Macintosh HD, I get the applications folder, and it lists the apps, as it should. In the Sidebar is my Home Folder, identified by my short name...when I select it, I get various folders to view....the Applications Folder is empty...nothing....but if I select Macintosh HD in the Sidebar as I mentioned above, all the apps are their...
What does this mean? Why is the Applications folder under my shortname empty?

Because that is where apps that you, and only you have access to. No other users will see them or be able to use them. If the folder's empty, don't worry about it.

When I click on an active link from another application, it opens the firefox application, but won't open open the page - it just opens Firefox or takes me to Firefox. No new tab or window is opened and the link is not displayed.

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.
