Application manager hangs when closing

Macbook pro 2.66 GHz i7 OS 10.6.8
CS6 Production Premium
Updates complete, Application Manager hangs and does not close when clicking "close". Force quit, on re-launch all apps up-to-date.
Is this a known bug?
Any input appreciated.

The other thread you are referring to was specific to a standard user account.  Since you have indiciated you are using an Administrator account I have removed your post to avoid confusion for the other topic.
It looks like you are using an older version of the Adobe Application Manager.  Please go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ and you can find a link to the current version of the Adobe Application Manager in the bottom right hand corner.

  • Mail accessing the internet all the time and hangs when closing or deleting

Why is it every time I look at my DSL modem when Mail is open there is activity and when I close Mail it stops? It's only set to get the mail every 5 min but it's constantly accessing the internet. The other problem is that it seems to hang when closing and sometimes it takes several mins before it will delete an email that I wanted it to delete. Any ideas? I'm running 10.4.4 with a FRESH install, not an upgrade. I only have .Mac mail accounts so there is no other active accounts that Mail has to access to get mail.
This has only been going on since I upgraded to 10.4+ so I tried to reload the 10.4 several times without any change.
    Thanks, Jason

Okay I used the Activity Monitor to check out mail while it was using the DSL connection. It was using 1.20% CPU and receiving 7 packets/sec. It's memory usage was slowly but steadily climbing until I shut it down. Then all the network activity stopped. As I said before this seems to start after mail has been open but not used for about 20-30 min and doesn't stop until I close mail.
Any ideas. Initially I was worried that there was an exploit in the new mail and someone was using it to access my mac. Is this something worth worrying about or is this a Mail quirk that will be patched later? Anyone else having this issue. I'm not even sure it's a problem but I don't see why Mail would be constantly downloading packets????

  • Adobe Application Manager hangs on installation, can't download any CC

I just upgraded from CS 5.5 to Creative Cloud (I'm running OSX 10.6.8). When I try to download the programs from the "apps" page of creative.adobe.com, the download manager opens and then hangs on the "updating Adobe Application Manager" screen for several minutes before saying "The remote server is not responding in a proper manner. Please retry after a few minutes." I contacted support (case number 0184298932) and they suggested using the Adobe Cleaner app to delete the App Manager, then download the App Manager from the general Adobe download page. The App manager opens but says it can't connect to the servers. Support also said to create a new admin account and retry the process. That had no effect.
I followed Robert L. Brown's advice in this forum post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4399026#4399026 and was able to actually launch the application manager and download Indesign and After Effects. I tried to download Photoshop, got an error, quit the installer, and when I tried to reopen it I was back to my original problem.
I have seen other posts in the forum saying to download the trial versions of CS6 and then authenticate with my adobe ID, but I can't find a download link for anything that's not Creative Cloud. There are no CS6 trials to be had anywhere.

For anyone else with a similar issue, it turns out that the company firewall was blocking the download. I just connected the computer to a different network and now the download is working like a charm. Fingers crossed that it works when I fire up the program!

  • Hyperion Application manager closes when a database outline is accessed.

    All,
I use Essbase 6.5.3 version. When I try to access a database outline through application manager, the application manager closes. It freezes for few seconds before getting closed. kindly let me know why this happens and also help me with a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vicky

    Hello -
I have seen this problem happen in the outlines which are huge as it seems that the client system from where you are opening the outline doesn't seem to have enough memmory to allocate to app manager.
You may want to try opening the outline in the "view" mode only to see if that does the trick.
As Glen already asked - Is this only for one outline or all the other outlines as well? Has it ever worked before for that outline?
You may also want to try to open the outline and leave it for sometime. Let this be the only program using the system resources, close all others.

  • Disable automatic Application Manager grant when creating an application

    Hi all,
If an admin user (administrator privileges in Essbase directly - shared services not used) creates an application in Essbase, the user automatically gets an Application Manager grant for this application.
This makes no sense in our environment and especially makes no sense as the user is already an administrator and has full access to Essbase.
Is there any way to disbale this?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Cameron,
    many thanks for your answer.
Well let me explain a little bit further:
I created an own security module which manages the whole security in Essbase. I get the grants from a corporate system and then just apply them by some definitions natively in Essbase using filters etc.
To make sure the grants on the server are exactly the same as the grants that get delivered to me, I export the complete security in Essbase using MaxL and import it to a relational DB. I then check whether there are any grants which shouldn't be there and vice versa.
If now an admin user creates an application, he gets an additional application manager grant for this application. He does not loose his admin permissions.
Now in my check this application manager grant pops up as this grant is not in the corporate system but created Essbase internally when a application is created.
If I export the complete security this application manager grant is there.
I would like to get rid of these errors in my check. Also it makes no sense that an admin user gets an Application Manager grant because he already has that permission as an admin user.
I already searched the documentations but didn't find a setting to disable this behaviour of Essbase.
    Btw. Essbase version is 11.1.1.3.
Maybe someone of you guys know if there is any chance to do this - if not, I have to find another solution.
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Thomas

  • Adobe Application Manager Hangs and Won't Load

I am a Creative Cloud subscriber
I manually uninstalled Acrobat XI -- I know, bad idea, I shouldn't have done that, but now it is what it is ...
So now I cannot run Adobe Application Manager without it hanging
I downloaded and installed the AAM patch from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
That did not solve the problem
I used the uninstallers to remove all my Creative Cloud apps as suggested here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-creative-cloud-installation-download .html#download_freeze
That did not solve the problem
I'm stuck.  Now I have no Creative Cloud apps and I cannot get the AAM running so that I can get the apps installed.

Delete the opm.db. Should be somewhere in Library:Application Support:Adobe

  • IE7 hangs when closing tab

I have an applet which has been functioning fine, but with the introduction of IE7 and tabs, I suddenly have an issue. We run a web site for our users, through which, they view PDF files. Simply, users view PDF files through a web browser (with the AcrobatReader plug-in), which are displayed via 'getAppletContext.showDocument(URL, "_blank")'. This is a fairly small user community, and we require that AcrobatReader is present on their machines. As I mentioned, this has been working fine with no issues until IE7. Now that users can configure their web browsers to open all pop-ups in a tab, rather than a new browser instance, we have constant reports of the browser 'hanging' when they try to close the tab containing the PDF viewer. Again, there is no issue if their browser is configured to open a new browser instance. Any ideas?

It's been a while since this happened, but I had a problem where Acrobat wouldn't start up, it would just hang with a blank screen. When I went and cleared out the temp directories that problem went away. The acrobat plugin has been broken for many, many, many years. Possibly forever.
It's not uncommon to launch IE. Open PDFs through IE. Close IE. Find one or even multiple orphaned acrobat processes running. When you get enough of these they will crash acrobat if you attempt to open new ones.

  • Application manager freezing when trying to open Photoshop

I was in Bridge and tried to open photos in camer raw.   Photoshop would never open.   I looked and Abobe  manager was not responded.  So I tried a couple more times, and still didn't work.  After saying multiple cusswords I untistalled Adobe Application manager and then downloaded it.   After downloading I got an error "The Application Install can't be opened -1712".   So how do I fix this?

Did you register it? Then you can log into your account and retrieve it there.
The serial number to license the software is what you pay for. Always keep serial numbers in a safe place with backups.

  • Application Manager Hangs, Can't Open Illustrator

I am so frustrated. My Illustrator subscription was expired. I renewed it. Then tried to open Illustrator. Everytime I try to do this, the Adobe Application Manager pops up, it bounces in the dock for a while and then nothing happens. If I try to open Illustrator again, same thing happens.
I went to https://creative.adobe.com/products/illustrator to try and download Illustrator fresh. The download link doesn't do anything.
I am on mac. I am using Chrome browser.
I just want to open Illustrator and strat doing my work.

I was finally able to resolve this by going to http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and seletcing to get help from someone online. The great part is you can share your screen with the person assisting you and in my case this person figured out the cause and helped me resolve the problem.
The solution turned out to be that I had to restart my compuer in safe mode and then install the Creative Cloud Desktop application. I think it is also important that the user you are logged in to your computer as has admin rights.

  • Adobe Application Manager keeps opening/closing?

    Hello.
Installed 6 copies of CS5.5 Design Premium this weekend on some machines in our studio. Did all the updates, etc. and everything was fine. Now, on 3 of the machines, every minute or so, the Adobe Application Manager pops up in the dock, then dissapears after a few seconds (nothing opens on-screen or anything). Anyone know what's causing this?
    Regards,
    Kristin.

    Hello ducky,
as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
Sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
If necessary and for further questions and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.

  • Application Manager crashes when loading outline

Running Essbase 6.5.1 on AS/400 (SPSS/Showcase version of Essbase); client is 6.5.1 running on Windows XP Pro. App Manager crashes when doing any of the following activities using an outline larger than 1mb:1. Loading outline; especially if another window takes focus after the File/Open command has been executed.2. Updating the outline using dimension building rules.3. Loading the outline into memory when editing a dim build rule.Has anyone experienced this? None of the latest patches seem to address this problem. I think it might have something to do with throughput over our network but I cannot verify; our network group seems to think the network throughput is fine. But, when I copy the outline to my local client and open it, it opens very quickly. When I open it from the server, it takes 10-15 seconds to open (when it doesn't crash App Manager).Thanks.

I've run into similar problems and have not been able to find a solution. I'm hoping this is resolved in 7.x with outline indexing.

  • Application Manager Stalls When Updating Any Adobe Product

I'm a CS6 Master Collection owner, and I've been dealing with this issue for a couple of months now.
Whenever I try to update or install any Adobe product, the Application Manager launches but then does nothing.
I can see that it is active in the OS X dock, and I can see that the process is running in the Acitivity Monitor.  However, Application Manager is "Not Responding" (right click on icon) and absolutely nothing happens. I'm completely unable to install, uninstall, update, or otherwise alter any Adobe application that uses the Application Manager (which, to my knowledge, is *everything*).
The only thing left to try is to compltely blow away my CS6 installation with the Cleaner Script, which I am reluctant to do.  Before I do, I'm hoping someone can help me with less drastic measures.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Trying latter doesn't help.
