Application Network Manager 4.1(0)

Hi all,
When configuring the ANM to import 6500 chassis' and ACE modules, I used an account whose password needs to be changed every so often.
I've looked for a way to change the password in the ANM for this account however I can't seem to find where to do it.  Is there a way to change the password of the account in question on the ANM?  I think the ANM uses this account to log in and check health of the ACEs etc as I'm seeing loads of auth in our ACS server.
There is an 'Update Password..." button at the bottom of the Config->Import Devices screen however it isn't clear as to whether it updates the account's password or something else.  Does anyone know how I might go about changing the password for the user account?
Or better yet, is there a way to change the account to an account that doesn't have finite passwords?
For reference, the ANM uses an account that authenticates against an ACS box, that ACS box then authenticates via LDAP againt our Domain.
Thanks for any help.  Helpful posts will be rated!
Brad

To get this working I ended up doing:
Deleting the chassis from the ANM from the Config->Guided Setup->Import Devices screen and then adding the chassis back in with the new username and consequent password.
As I needed to keep remote authentication (via) ACS for all other users I had to give the ANM a user that could be auth'd remotely.  An AD service account was created for this authentication purpose only.  In the ACS, I gave that user sufficient privileges and had it authing to AD.
Apart from not being able to auth if the ACS server or AD is down, this seems to be working okay.
PS..  In retrospect I perhaps should have created a local user first before I did the AD thing because now when I try to add that user in as a local user (in case of the unlikely event of the aforementioned problem of losing AD or ACS) the ACE module says that the user is already a remote user and I can't add it as a local user..
Thanks all.

  • Cisco application networking manager license file - unable copy to server

    Hi all
We tried all the options like ftp, tftp, scp, etc., to copy cisco application networking manager license file from my pc to its server which has CISCO ADE OS .But unable to copy .can anybody know correct method to copy ??
    Thanks & Regards
    Sanjeevi

    Adrian,
In order to install the license you must have a license file on the ANM server and install it through the command line:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/application_networking_manager/4.1/installation/guide/IG_config.html#wpmkr1120937
No other way to do it.
License file can either be copied to the ANM file system, or you can create a new empty license file on it and copy paste the license file content.
If you have no access to the ANM server through CLI, then a workaround might be:
         - install a new VMWARE machine where you have CLI access.
         - install ANM on it
         - copy license (other you copy the file through any means or you create a file and edit by copy pasting the license file content)
         - install license with the command  /opt/CSCOanm/bin/anm-license install /path/ANMxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic as described in the link above
         - save the VMware image
         - deploy the same VMWare image to the ESX where it has to be installed and where you have no access to CLI neither you can copy a file.
    Hope this helps,

  • Application Networking Manager 4.1 cannot push config

    Hi Guys,
I have just set up this Cisco app to manage an ACE blade and I'm having issues deploying changes I make via the GUI to the device.
I have set up the sync'd the config from the blade and can config the ACE using CLI and my TACACS account without problem. I have set up a new org "test" and set up my account with create privs across the board basically making this account a superuser account. So I log into the application using user@test which is authenticated by TACACS and I can see my ACE blade. When I try to deploy anything to the ACE I get "Failed to deploy config to device: Infringing CLI command: with reason: Admin role required for configuration"
Have checked all my settings and I have given this user create roles for all options but I still get this error
Can anyone give any pointers to where this is failing on the authentication - is it the app or is it TACACS?
    thanks

  • Application Networking Manager - SSL Certs

    Hi,
We have an ANM 4.1  installation and today i was asked why an ACE context with many certs installed for the SSL proxy service didnt show any of the certs or keys in ANM. I can see some chains group parameters and ssl proxy service config.
I have double checked and there are lots of certs installed via CLI and have run a resync but absolutely nothing in the SSL --> Cert pages or SSL --> Keys. Is it because all the config importing the certs was via the ACE CLI rather than the ANM??
What I have to do to import these as we plan to use ANM to manage the cert expiry dates

  • How do I install individual driver of Killer LAN without its Network Management application?

I found sometimes the Network Management application would conflict with other online application, and in other forum an user provided a pure driver package that can solve the problem.
    Here is the steps:
First you can download MSI pure Killer LAN driver from this link:
    http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgwZs96
Please uninstall old Killer LAN driver package from control panel if you already have the driver in OS.
Download and extract the RAR file to windows desktop.  Double click “dpinst.exe” to install the killer driver.
It is normal if you see the message of “No device for update present” in the last step, that’ s because the driver package includes all kinds of killer LAN chip drivers, some don’t exist in your system.
Just click “Finish” to complete the driver installation.  Restart system and you can start to enjoy the web surfing.
And if you encounter problem when you uninstall Killer LAN driver, you can use Killer official uninstall utility to completely remove the driver.
    32 bit:
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/drivers/KillerCleaner_32bit.exe
    64 bit:
    https://www.qca.qualcomm.com/drivers/KillerCleaner_64bit.exe

Just install the Killer LAN driver from MSI website, the manager is always installed with the driver.

  • Oracle BPM for Network Management Projects

Has anybody used Oracle BPM for network management projects with millions of events?
    Can Oracle BPM handle it?

Please follow this step may this solve your problem.
please modify any thing in process "ExpenseReporting" for example any transition or any activity to place some where else or any other modification and then save that process. Then clean the project and build and deploy it.
if this also not solve the problem then export that project to and import it again in your workspace (Create new workspace or change the project name in same workspace ) and then again clean, build and deploy the application then test in work space.

    Hi guys,
I am new to Oracle so I have 2 basic Technology&Software questions for an RFI, which I wasn't able to find answered for EBS R12:
8.1 Please list any specific hardware requirements/prerequisites your company’s product may have with regards to the application & database servers, clients/workstations…
8.2 Please list any specific software requirements/prerequisites your company’s products may have with regards to the operating system, database….
I know it is pretty basic stuff, but would appreciate any kind of information on these topics.

  • Cisco Network Management Solution

    Hi,
I was asked to put together a Network Management solution to manage multiple sites. The sites are as follows:
    Site 1 - Approx 30 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 2 - Approx 50 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 3 - Approx 40 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 4 - Approx 40 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
    Site 5 - Approx 50 Switches (Cisco 4507 Core / Cisco 3750X Access)
The sites are connected over a 2 or 4Mbps WAN connection to a central site.
Can you please advise on the following:
    1) Architecture - Centralized or Distributed?
    2) Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2? or is there anything else?
    Thanks,
    Z

You need to define what functions you want before selecting tools.
    Event management (syslog, SNMP traps).
Network Change and Configuration Management (NCCM), which includes network discovery, inventory, as well as config mgmt.
Performance data collection, analysis, and alerting.
    IP Address management.
    Topology mapping.
    Active path testing.
    Application performance management.
Once you know what functions you want to implement, you can start identifying products that fulfill those requirements.

  • Wireless network management solution

We are running a pilot project to deploy a centralize wireless solution for our campus. The pilot consists of only about 20 Cisco1200 access points. We are in need of Network Management solution to manage these access points. The NMS would have to pretty much behave like what we already have into place for our wired networks such as: alerts on snmp traps, thresholds settings, data capture, administration, etc, in general be able to proactively check possible shortcomings on the infrastructure and help to troubleshoot problems. Once we fully deploy the centrally controlled wireless network, there could be any way from 1200 to 1500 access points, so whichever system we choose must be able to scale to these numbers.
I’m interested in knowing which wireless network management solutions are the preferred one from the audience on this forum. Your input will help me to narrow down possible options.
Thanks a lot for any information.

I would suggest that you go for the WLSE. CiscoWorks WLSE is a centralized, systems-level application for managing and controlling an entire Cisco Aironet WLAN infrastructure. For more information on this read

  • Does LabVIEW support the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)?

I looked at LabVIEW 2014 online help for some info on SNMP.
A problem was posted in 1996 and updated in 2008.
Does LabVIEW Support the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)?
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4CD3625A939A77DE852564050047D3BD
This was addressed to LabVIEW version 4.
What version are we up to now?
    Version 14?
One solution offered was to get the SNMP VI from Viodia.
Why should I have to spend another $1,000 for a VI from Viodia after spending $5,000 for LabVIEW Professional?
Come on National Instruments, offer up SNMP to go with your professional package.
There seems to be a lot of chatter about SNMP on the forums.
I’m sure a lot of customers would be happy to have an official LabVIEW VI for SNMP.

I find it unreasonable to expect that LabVIEW supports out of the box every network protocol that has ever been invented under the sun. You may find SNMP to be the most important protocol on the world but for most programmers it is a niche protocol that they may have heard of but never will happen to come across in their applications. It's in fact pretty low level for a very specific purpose of managing network connected resources.
On the other hand it is not rocket science either so can be implemented by someone with enough determination on top of the native network interface functions in LabVIEW. Is it a lot of work? Yes, you bet! Is it worth 1000 bucks! If you really need it and your own work hours cost anything more than a few cents per hour, most probably too! If you can live with an implementation that is supporting many but not all features of SNMP, the link on LAVAG is a very good and nice one.

  • [SOLVED][GNOME 3] After install - no Network Manager?

Installed Arch for the first time yesterday, so I put GNOME 2 on it first to make sure everything worked before moving onto the unstable stuff. Installed GNOME 3, installed Gnome Shell, bootup, everything seems perfect, except that I have no Network Manager. No applet in the top-right corner. Clicking on the Network application under activities did nothing and neither did trying to access it from System Settings. I did a little Googling, figured that I needed to actually install networkmanager and network-manager-applet. So I did so from pacman:
    pacman -S networkmanager network-manager-applet
and now I can get into the application but I'm getting an error, "The system network services are not compatible with this version," which gives me a minimal-use window with a network proxy entry and the ability to add a VPN entry.
I know my WiFi works (Intel Wireless-N 1000) because it shows up as wlan0 in iwconfig and I can connect to an unsecured network with wicd. Anyone know how I can get Gnome's Network Manager back?

  • Network management system recommendations

I have been looking at some network management systems such as SolarWinds, but I would like to kick the question back to the community to see what you guys recommend.
I am looking for a powerful, uniform, monitoring system that includes the following:
    1. Network device management (syslog, configuration management, inventory, device tracker [like CW CampusManager], etc.)
    2. Application monitoring (checking if hyperlinks are working, availability, etc.)
    3. Database monitoring (SQL query response times, etc.)
    4. QoS monitoring (jitter, delay, SLA, etc.)
    5. Alerts
Anything beyond this would be a plus.
I am looking for the "best" solution out there in terms of performance and features ...

NetFlow and IPSLA are different technologies.
Cisco NetFlow captures header information from actual IP traffic passing through router interfaces and reports on traffic usage, applications used, souce and destination of traffic, port and protocol used, ToS, DSCP, next hop and so on. Using NetFlow you can see who is using your bandwidth, what application is being used, etc.
Cisco IPSLA is a feature from Cisco that lets you measure the performance of a link using simulated packets and reports on jitter, latency, packet loss, Round-Trip time, packet loss, link availability, etc.
In short, NetFlow is used for bandwidth monitoring and traffic analysis of actual IP traffic that is passing through a link and IPSLA is used to measure how a link will perform when traffic passes through it.
Cisco supports both features - NetFlow and IPSLA.
IPSLA needs Cisco devices with IPSLA support at the source and destination ends with atleast IOS 12.3(14)T
NetFlow is exported as UDP packets to a flow analyzer tool - many tools use 9996 or 2055 for NetFlow export
IPSLA requires routers with Cisco IPSLA capability and IPSLA stats is collected via SNMP.
There are tools in the market which can monitor both. We at ManageEngine have NetFlow Analyzer, which supports NetFlow and IPSLA in addition to many more monitoring technologies like Cisco NBAR, WAAS monitoring, Cisco Medianet, etc.
Cisco NBAR is a deep packet inspection technology which analyzes data packets to report on application usage. NBAR can detect applications hiding behind well know ports or using random ports and you can also further use NBAR to define your QoS polcies.
If you need to know more on the software that can monitor these technologies, you can contact ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer support at netflowanalyzer-support 'at' manageengine. com
