Application object for the Client for Microsoft networks

Hi folks,
we have about 300 Win2000-workstations here with no Microsoft-clients
installed. Unfortunately, we need to have it on the PCs right now, as
it is a requirement for another software we have to install in the
next few weeks.
I know that Novell doesn't recommend installing the client via a NAL
object, but is anyone of you aware of a solution to do this without
having to visit all our users and install it manually? My feet start
aching when I only think about it! ;-)
Maybe there is a possibility to install the client via a script?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You can be sure that my
thanks would follow you to eternity! :-)
Thanks in advance,
Ollie

I would try asking in both the MS Forums and http://www.appdeploy.com
They may have good experience in doing this.
If they have some tips, we could help ZEN them if need be.
http://www.jsiinc.com/subj/tip4700/rh4705.htm looks like one possible
solution, though
I can't vouch for it.

  • Script to disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks

Hi, I am trying to find a way of using a batch file or vbscript to disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks on a Network Interface Controller.
I've done some searching on the internet and I can see some suggestions to locate the Setting ID of the NIC and then remove the value from the "Bind" string under "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Linkage" and "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Linkage"
I tried this but it didn't seem to uncheck itself from the NIC properties under NCPA.cpl
    Can someone help me?

  • Unable to install Client for Microsoft Network

Bonjour guys, i'm having a terrible issue. I'm running Vista Sp2 Home Premium Edition, and i was having an IP adresse issue, i was getting 169.etc, and couldn't go online. So i tried various things to solve the issue, including uninstalling the various componets
of my Connection, including "Client for Microsoft Network".
When i rebooted the PC, and installed my Wifi Usb dongle and its software, the IP issue was solved (192.etc), but with a twist. Now, i can't go to website using their Urls (www.google.com), i can only access them via their IP adresses (173.X.X.X)
I verified/changed the DNS, no improvment.
I deactivated/activated the firewall, no improvment.
I verified the DHCP, it's working fine.
So i checked the propreties of the Connection, and noticed that the only thing that was missing, was "Client for Microsoft Network", which i tried to install, abut got an error:
"Could not add the requested feature. The error is: The remote procedure call failed"
So i went to services.msc, checked the various services, RPC started, DNS client started, DHCP started, server started
Then i decided to uninstall the SP2 upgrade, and reinstall it, but the issue still remains.
Can you help me re-instal the Client for Microsoft Network ?

    Hi,
You can run SFC command to check your system file:

  • SBS2008 Client for Microsoft Network issues

    Hi Everyone,
I'm working on a client server and was called in after some strange IP issues. I found that Client for Microsoft Networks was missing and am unable to get it reinstalled.
Originally, I got an error that a Timeout occurred (I don't have the exact error because it isn't what I'm getting anymore).
After a bunch of reboots and a few attempts to reset the network stack with netsh (ipv4, ipv6, winsock), I'm now getting an error when I try to install the Client for Microsoft Networks that the RPC call failed.
    The RPC service is running.
I'm at my wits, end, and at a total loss.
Can anyone think of any way to magically reinstall Client for Microsoft networks? Powershell? anything? ha.
    Thanks.

Well it looks like it found and repaired one thing. Lets reboot and take a look at the network settings. If you can't install the Client again we're gong to go through a little more advanced diagnostic which should be fun :)
    Download the Sysinternals tools procmon,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx this will capture everything the system does so it'll give a ton of information. The steps are as follows.
    1) Open procmon
    2) DONT FILTER ANYTHING, when prompted to click the 'cancel' button on the filter window
    3) Stop the capture (Ctrl+E on the keyboard)
    4) Get to the Networking Properties and do every step to install the Client EXCEPT for the step that throws the error
    5) Start the capture (Ctrl+E)
    6) Trigger the error
    7) Stop the capture
Save the PML file and upload it.

  • File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is missing

I have a Server 2012 Hyper-V VM that is missing the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. When I try to Install the service it is not listed. The only service listed is Windows Network Virtualization Filter driver. I have the install media but
I don't know where the driver would be located. I'm hoping someone can tell me where it is located.
    Update:
I am trying to run Enable-NetAdapterBinding -Name Ethernet -ComponentID ms_server but it's not working and it's giving me this error.

Ok, fixed it, I found the netserv.inf file in c:\windows\inf and tried to use it to reinstall File and Printer Sharing. However File and Printer Sharing was not listed. I copied the netserv.inf file from another Server 2012 VM and was able to install File
and Printer Sharing using the copied NetServ.inf. After rebooting the server I was able to access network shares on the server.

  • File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks on Windows server 2008

    Hi Expert,
I found that the properties of File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks service disabled after I install the windows server 2008 64bits. I tried to install that service via adding the file and printer sharing services in the properties of local area connection, but it doesn't contain any service in the popup box.  Also, no such service file available in the disk when I tried to install the service from installation disk of windows server 2008 64bits. Is the file "sacsrv.dll" corresponding to the service name of file and printer sharing? I found it is in the directory of "Windows\system32".  I have no idea about where is the problem? Do I miss some components? Please tell me what can I do for it? Thanks!
    Best Wishes,

Do any experts know the reason of this problem?  Thanks!

  • How to uncheck File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks by Command!!

    Dear everybody,
I meet a problem with my System now, and I need your help!!!
As mentioned in title, I need uncheck on File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks by Command for Security purpose.
Could you show me the way to do it by command line
I think GPO can solve this but My Boss want to do it by command line
    Thanks for your help!!!

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Network Discovery" new enable=Yes
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=Yes
To disable these functions in Windows, use the same command and replace 'Yes' to 'No' in the above commands.

  • X301 "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" removed at re booting (XP SP-3)

Even if I run the “Network Identification Wizard” (under System properties/Computer Name) to join a Workgroup, the box ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’ remains unchecked.  If I ticked it manually, it remains checked for the current session, but it is unchecked at booting.
The same occurs with the Windows Firewall (I am running that from Symantec). I switch the Windows Firewall off, but after rebooting, it appears selected again!.
This happens only with my brand new ThinkPad X301, which came with Vista. The package included a kit to convert to XP, but this installed a ‘naked’ XP, which required downloading from Lenovo and Windows about 1Gb of files (bad service, Lenovo guys!).
I wonder which “safety” issue of the X301 causes this, but how can I stop this happening? (It does not occur with any of my two old ThinkPads, also running XP SP-3 and Lenovo software).
    Solved!

See -> http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/72537-file-printer-sharing-turned-off-reboot.html  Here is the text. Re: File and Printer sharing turned off on reboot
    I FOUND MY SOLUTION!!!
In my case, it was in Lenovo's "ThinkVantage Access Connections" applet. It
is additional security that is applied at the CONNECTION level.
Here is how I fixed it:
    1. Double click on the ThinkVantage Access Connections applet in the
    notification area.
    2. Click on the MANAGE button on the toolbar
    3. Select the SSID where you want File Sharing to work, and click EDIT
    4. Click on the ADDITIONAL SETTINGS tab
    5. Next to "Network Security", click the SETTINGS button
    6. The first option in Security Settings is "Disable file and printer
sharing". UNCHECK this box. Click OK for 3 levels of dialog boxes, then
    close Access Connections
Although these directions are specific to ThinkPad notebooks, the same
principle may apply for other manufacturers' connection managers.
    Best of luck!

  • Application object for users to request remote assistance

    Hi
I want to lock down my users' desktops by changing the Windows shell to Application Explorer but still want my users to be able to request a Remote Assistance session with the list of pre-defined operators.

How can I do this without my users' having to go to the properties of the Adaptive Agent?

  • Calling an application installed in the client

Some clients have an SGML editor installed locally. We have a button in the Oracle form, which when pressed, opens the installed application with the value stored in one of the field in the Oracle form. We used CLIENT_HOST to call the local application. (Our application is running in OAS 10g)
Any idea how to implement the similar feature in Apex.
    Thanks
    Deb

This is a BIG no no.. Forms 9i and above handle this by using webutil or a java object to run the local application. In APEX, you really CAN NOT run a local application, since browsers normally don't allow this (please note I said, normally.. IE allows you to run active-x controls and vb script, which can be done, but is NOT advisable)..
What is the purpose of the editor? Does it edit text files or what type of files?
    Thank you,

  • Digitally signing AIR apps for the client

How does a developer digitally sign a client's application
without requiring the client to have to purchase the certificate?
We want to do this for them. Are there any options for the
    developer?

What happens when a certificate applied to an AIR app.
expires? Does anyone know the technical details of the process? Is
the expiration date embedded in the cerficate? Will the installer
just revert to an UNKNOWN publisher or present another message,
such as certificate expired? Will the installer still work?
My Web guy thinks we can purchase the certificate for our
client after discussing this process with them, by being listed as
the technical contact and getting their contact info (like we can
with SSL certificates). We do NOT want to put the customer through
the below steps. There is a document though on Thawte's website
that says the business and technical contacts must be from the same
    company though. This document
    (https://www.thawte.com/guides/pdf/enroll_codesign_eng.pdf) says
    nothing about AIR though.
Here's some text Thawte sent me:
    ENROLLING:
    1. Visit
    https://www.thawte.com/process/retail/new_devel?language=en&productInfo.productType=devel 2
2 Select the Adobe AIR Developer Certificate
    3. Enter the required information in the enrollment process
    "step 1 Configure your enrollment"
Note: As part of this process a private/public key pair will
be generated by thawte. The private key will be automatically
    stored within the Firefox keystore.
    4. Click Submit to complete your enrollment.
    5. Click Accept after confirming that all information entered
on the enrollment page is correct.
    6. After the certificate is issued, log into the status page
using the link provided in the confirmation email to download the
    certificate.
    7. Click on "Fetch Certificate" and the certificate will
automatically be saved to the Firefox keystore.
    8. Export the private key and certificate from the Firefox
    keystore.
The exported file can now be used to sign the Adobe Air
    application.
    FIREFOX INFO:
You must use FireFox to initiate the Adobe AIR developer
certificate browser and to obtain the certificate.
    1. Visit
    https://www.thawte.com/process/retail/new_devel?language=en&productInfo.productType=devel 2
    8. Export the private key and certificate from the Firefox
    keystore with this solution: SO6899
The exported file can now be used to sign the Adobe Air
    application.
The a guide to signing the application can be found in SO6896
Note: When exporting the private key and certificate from
Firefox, it ill be exported in a .p12 (pfx) format which ADT, Flex,
Flash Authoring, Dreamweaver, and Apatana tools can consume.
Thawte will perform an Identity verification process, which
may take 2-5 working days, and may need additional information.
    https://www.thawte.com/ssl-digital-certificates/free-guides-whitepapers/pdf/enroll_codesig n_eng.pdf
After verification is complete, Thawte will email you
instructions on how to retrieve the certificate.
Please make sure that you retrieve the certificate using
    Firefox.
How to export the private key and certificate from Firefox to
    sign Adobe®AIR™applications
    Solution ID: SO6899
Adobe®AIR™ Developer Certificates can use a .pfx
or a .p12 file to sign applications. Please follow the steps below
to export the certificate with the private key from Firefox:
    1. A. Start Firefox
    B. Select Tools
    C. Select Options
    D. Select Advanced
    E. Select Certificates
    F. Select Manage Certificates
Note: On a MAC OS go to Firefox > Preferences >
Advanced > Certificates > Manage Certificates
    2. Select your signing certificate you retrieved from the
status page and click the Backup button.
    3. Enter the file name and location to export the certificate
and private key to and click Save.
    4. If you are using the Firefox Master Password, you will be
prompted for your master password for the software security device.
    5. From the "Choose a certificate backup" password dialog
box, enter a password to create/export the certificate.
    6. Enter the password twice and click OK. You should receive
    a successful backup password message.
    7. Use this .p12 (pfx) file within ADT, Flex, Flash
    Authoring, Dreamweaver, or Apatana tool.
When prompted for a password, use the password for the .p12
    file export in step 5.
    8. Sign the application.
Follow the steps below to sign Adobe®AIR™
    applications:
    1. Open AIR Application and Installer Settings from the Adobe
    Air application
    2. Click Set button under Installer settings, next to Digital
    signature
    3. In the Digital Signature dialog box, click Browse.
    4. Select the certificate.
    5. Enter a password.
    6. Click OK
The application now has the digital signature applied.

  • How to change the Client n user details for a model in Production

    Hello Friends,
I have an application which is calling RFC function module from SAP R/3.
In development system while creating Model I have entered the Back end details like Client, User Name and Password.
If I transport the application into Production, The Client and user name will be different. In this case How would I change the client n user name details.
Do I have import again in Production. But does sounds a good idea.
    ThanQ for Ur time.
    Cheers.. Sam

When you create Model first time, to import Interface of RFC you would need to logon into R/3. But once you are done with the Interface, your connection to R/3 will be determined by the client and UID details in JCo connection.
Now when you transport your code from DEV to QA system, the JCo connection with the same name should be there. or else, you would need to create the same in the new server. I dont see a need to reimport the model. If that is the case, then developers would have to spend huge amount of time doing this job alone.
    Hope this solves ur problem.
    Regards
    Murali.

  • The "application" object

the "application" object can be called within a JSP file.
What if I wanna call it within a JavaBean class? How do I instantiate it?

The application object is the servletcontext that is passed to the servlet/JSP by the server during initialization. If you want to use it in a JavaBean you'll have to pass it in.
    <jsp:useBean id="myBean" scope="session" class="beans.MyBean" />
    <% myBean.setApplication(application); %>
    and in MyBean
    import javax.servlet.*;
    public class MyBean {
       ServletContext sc;
       public MyBean() { }
       public void setApplication(ServletContext inSC) { this.sc = inSC; }

    Hello,
I got the error of 1603 when I ran Office 2003 MSI package through NAL. I
have no idea how to resolve this problem. Even though I enabled logging in
Office 2003 installation, I still could not figure out what went wrong and
    what caused the error.
I have used Snapshot to create an application object for a long time with

Do I have to know more about Microsoft Window Installer ?
