Battery Replace did not fix issue.
Apps were working fine up until this morning.  Unistalled apps and reinstalled Globe and Mail 2.0 to test fix.  No joy.  I can surf the internet and use the phone and main screen.  I just can't access apps.  I went in to the app manager and tried to manually set permissions.  However, things wouldn't switch to "Allow" even when I clicked on them.  It showed "Custom" instead.  I am honestly not sure what I did that mess things up, but I am sure there is just a setting I missed or something like that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Do you happen to be a corporate BES user? From what you describe, it sounds like an IT Policy is enforcing certain application attributes that are not generous for those apps to function. To fix that, you have to convince your BES admins to adjust the policy.
Good luck!

    Hi,
I understand you got permission error when creating Search Service Application in SharePoint 2013.
    Please verify that:
1.The accounts that you use for the Search service, the Search Admin Web Service application pool, and the Search Query and Site Settings Web Service application pool must be registered as managed accounts in SharePoint Server 2013 so that they are available
when you create the Search service application.
2.The farm administrator account you used to create Search Service Administrator need to satisfy the following at least:
in the SharePoint farm admin groups
be a member of the local administrators group on each server in the SharePoint farm
be assigned to the securityadmin and dbcreator SQL Server security roles

  • Web-Disk on OSX 10.9 Give me this error: "Finder got an error: Network file permission error."

Previously I was using OSX 10.8 and Web Disk was working great.
Since I upgraded to OSX 10.9 Web Disk Dont Attach to my compputer and give me this ERROR:
FInder got an error: Network file permission error.
When I got this ERROR first time I searched GOOGLE and found this link: http://cammodude.blogspot.no/
    And I did:
To force all connections to be SMB1:
    Open A terminal window
paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):
    echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
    What the command does:
Creates a file called nsmb.conf  in your  home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol.  This is slower but stable.
Then I could use Web Disk on OSX 10.9 after executing this command in Terminal.
But now I restarted my Macbook and now Im NOT able to connect to Web Disk and get the same ERROR.
FInder got an error: Network file permission error
After trying 100 times it attaches 1 time but then show this ERROR:
    Can't get <<class cdis>> "my.server.com/2078" of application "Finder".
If this happen then I can see the files in Finder and see the Contents and Size of files but if I open a PHP file in BBEdit then it shows BLANK.. But actually it is NOT blank.
Now Im stuck How can I solve this? All help is highly appericated..
    Thank you so much...

    Hi,
Make sure to chmod the app, something like this :
    chmod -Rf 777  secure_site_WebDisk.app
(in my case the CPanel provided the app for my OSx version.)

  • After installing 10.7.2 from scratch, permission errors remain

Hey, this is a summery of what have happened:
    1. upgraded to Lion from SL (via AppStore)
    2. have played with 'get info' > 'apply to all enclosed items'  :/
    3. things have gone messy, slow, permission errors. example:
(Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.)
    4. booted from DVD of Lion dmg.
then, formatted and performed a clean install.
(backed up to a new disk image with CCC, just in case)
    5. Notice that I did not copy anything or downloaded/installed a single file/application yet.
after the so called 'clean' install, I've ran the disk utility to verify permissions again (both from DVD and from cmd+R - recovery partition).
still I get the warning about ARDAgent, still verifying and repairing permission takes 2-3 minutes. with only the OS X installed on HDD.
    6. Got this advice from several boards:
Open Terminal as an admin user.
    type in the following:
    sudo chmod -RN ~
you will have to authenticate with a non-blank password.
then follow the steps of resetting the ACLs.
I have done this, and got: Failed to clear ACL on file ubiquity.socket: Invalid argument
Then, booted from DVD, in terminal typed: 'resetpassword' and chose the HDD and "user" and clicked on 'reset password and ACLs'.
    restarted, Spotlight did index againg.
    7. still permission errors, so I didn't copy anything back yet, waiting for help to get the right way or restoring to default/formatting again.
    My questions are:
    1. Did I do everything right? Is it possible to perform a clean install from the DVD that I made?
    2. If so, shouldn't it cancel all the ACLs problems and reset them to the default?
    3. Is there a way to make a real 100% clean install of 10.7.2, with erasing even the recovery partition (if it has to do with ACLs)?
    4. if and when this will be solved, I will need to copy back my files and folders from external FW800 WesternDigital,
will I need to reset their permissions too somehow? It could cause more problems with the ACLs.
    thank you very much.

    baltwo,
I have a lion clone. so I guess there is no reason to install lion upon it's own clone.
anyways, how is it possible that after the complete format, the ACL problem remains.
what about removing the recovery partition.
the reason I want it to be done is to get rid of the problems I had with the new installation, tham I'm afraid will not be fixed otherwise: crashing apple applications (safari quitted unexpectedly), slow performance, computer freezes, GUI lags (copying 138 items to another folder stucks and I have to relounch finder) and other animation bugs at almost everywhere on the system.
restoring lion clone and turning on the time machine sounds like the last option right now...
and I'll be happy to hear opinions about what to do with the backed up data on the external hdd permissions.

  • Error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT

I got error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT. It happened always after build, I mean new startup.rtexe and startup.alias files have been created. At the build properties, it was set use default .alias file.
I had the executable built successfully at one time.
    The detail message is:

    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  File permission error. You do not have the correct permissions for the file.

I checked relevant posts, couldn't find any clue.
    Please give me some ideas.

    Hi Ya-hoo,
Error building application in LabView 8.0 seems to describe a similar situation. The .alias file is important, as described in that discussion forum.
    Cheers.

  • 10.5.8 Update Provokes An Onslaught of Permission Errors :(

Is Apple going to offer a fix for this apparently defective update?
On a brand New Macbook Pro 17"( just after booting up for the very first time) I ran disk utility and did a routine verify of permissions which resulted with no errors displayed. (Passed with flying colors). I soon after was greeted by "Live Update 10.5.8" - "Recommended for All Users". I naively did the install and consequently, upon running Disk Utility proceeded to "Verify", when much to my surprise, a laundry list of "Errors" began to por down my screen. I next did "Repair Permissions" but these errors persisted. I since tried independently downloading and installing "Combo Update" twice in a row followed by a "Verify" (without doing a "Repair"). The Permission Errors continue to cascade, however, this Did resolve initial Warnings encountered as follows:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources /DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/pppd" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/vpnd" has been modified and will not be repaired..
Presently, I am still plagued with "Permission Errors" and I did run "Repair" out of frustration and desperation to no avail. I have since read and been advised I should "Ignore" the errors, although they are "Valid"?
Why do I have "Errors" on my brand new computer I ask.
I don't understand how this can possibly be acceptable to Apples standards and dismissed as Valid yet fine to ignore.
How does one determine in the future which "Errors" are "False Positives"and are they really? How do I know the health of my system? I have honestly been conditioned to rely upon Disk Utility- Verify, Repair. How can I feel confidence in future "Recommended Updates"? I am neither a software engineer, nor a technical expert but I do in all honesty have a business to run. I honestly don't know if this unit is reliable in it's present state. Am I going to be plagued and riddled with these errors for the life of this laptop?
I am genuinely trying to get a handle on this and confess to having lost hours of sleep over it. Hopefully, someone from Apple is working on resolving this for us. Right now I hesitate to even turn it on at this point. I've gone back to using my G4! So for now My Macbook Pro is sitting on my desk looking like an expensive paperweight.
Thanks for any solution, expertise or reassurance anyone may be able to offer.
Lastly resorted to "Repair" and this is the result.

Sorry you are as well in the same boat! I confess I would prefer not to have to live with it.
AFAIK, everybody has to live with these messages, but they are not actually errors in the permissions of the indicated files & as Apple says should not generally be a cause for concern. For example, all those that start with the letter el in the first position of the permissions string (like "they are lrw-rw-r-- ") are just indicating that the +file type+ of the file is a symbolic link -- the file type is not actually a permission & should not be changed by the repair, which would cause the file not to be recognized as a link & cause a legitimate operational error!

  • Java update 6 causing constant permission errors

    Hi Folks
I was looking for a little more experienced thoughts about the numerous persistent permission errors caused by the last java update for apple's software update. I've read forum articles that says it's OK to ignore them. And the Apple Support KB page that list the dozens of errors that can be safely ignored. But it just doesn't feel right. I'm tempted to revert to a pre java update backup version of the OS, that repair permissions gave a clean bill of health to it's screen. My question is; By not updating java Do I have more risk than by running with all the constant errors caused this update in file permissions? In trying to learn more about java I found among other things these snippets from Boutell.Com
However, most people do not have Java applications on their computers these days, and most websites useFlash instead of Java for the interactive features that used to be commonly written in Java.
    Removing Java on MacOS X
Removing Java on MacOS X is not recommended as Apple has made Java a standard part of the operating system and may rely on it to a greater degree than a typical Windows system.
    What you should NOT do
Either update Java, or remove it. Do not refuse the updates. That gives you the worst of all possible worlds: a buggy old version of Java that might be exploited by
    maliciously coded web pages.
Just  wondering what others thought about this. And just how useful is java these days?  Is it true Java has been dropped from OS 10.7? Hopefully, Flash is on the way out too.
    Well thanks for considering this.

I don't see those errors, but Disk Utility cannot fix anything related to symbolic links, so all I can recommend is to ignore them. Your other option is to reinstall the OS and then run Software Update, after making a bootable backup/clone.

  • Netflix application storage error N8011

    Greetings,
I have been searching for information on an issue my daughter is experiencing with Netflix on her MacBook Pro c2009. I have read many things in this issue, but have not found a true fix. Perhaps you can help.
When she starts a movie, instead of the movie playing she receives the following error: Application Storage Error N8011. It tells her that Private Browsing is enabled and instructs her to turn it off or call Netflix. However, Private Browsing in not enabled. I have played around with Private Browsing and am fairly sure this is not the issue.
The few things I have found in discussions on the net (suggestions that Netflix is not compatible with Safari 5, instructions to reinstall Silverlight, and making a new user account) have not provided a solution.
The suggestion that Netflix is not compatible with Safari 5 might have been relevant some time ago, but it clearly is not "the" issue because I am able to use Netflix on the same computer using a different account.
I have removed Silverlight and reinstalled it without any noticeable effect. Again, Netflix works with my account on the same computer. And Silverlight is a shared plugin, it does not need to be installed by each user.
The "fix" that I found repeated a few times is to create a new user account (named "test"). This does work, but it is a work around. It is NOT a "fix".
I believe the issue is related to an account permission or perhaps a Safari user configuration, but I have not been able to uncover anything in this light.
The new account I created as a work around does not have Admin privileges, but Netflix does work with that account. This reduces the range of possible causes.
If you have had a similar experience and have found the solution, please share it.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply Klaus1.
The link you sent does not work: Error 404 - Not Found
I think the url you meant was:
    http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/07/how-to-re-enable-netflix-in-safari-5/
I had seen this page and tried it, but reverting to version 4 did not help the affected user account. Besides, Netflix is working with version 5 on a different user account on the same computer. For these reasons I'm pretty sure the version 5 thing has been resolved.
By the way, the info in the above link is really cool. I had no idea there was a way to revert Safari to prior versions. Apparently this is a feature for developers to test their web pages in different versions of several browsers - Cool!
Back the to point, I'm curious how many people have experienced this N8011 issue with Netflix. By the dearth of info on the web addressing this problem, I'm guessing it is not very common. But it is real, no the less.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Error 8 occurred when building an executable due to file permission error?

I received this error on executable builds from two different .vis.  Other .vis in the project build without incident and the message below doesn't seem to indicate the file that is causing the problem, unless it is the SPT-errors.txt file listed at the end of the error message.
Visit the Request Support page at ni.com/ask to learn more about resolving this problem. Use the following information as a reference:

    Hi DanielAllis,
Like mentioned earlier, there is most likely an application on the internet that you can find and use where you can see what processes are calling specific files or folders to see if that specific file is being used by anything else.  It doesn't sound like this is the root of your problem, but it couldn't hurt to check.  Also, I have seen a similar problem to this with someone who was using the software Subversion and Tortoise with their application.  I am not familiar with this software in particular, but I have attached a link below that goes through the steps that this other person took to try and fix the same error when having this software on their computer.  Let me know if any of this helps!

  • Reoccurring Quicktime permission errors in Disk Utility?

    Hi all.
    I have this Mac tower:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/specs/powermac_g5_1.8_dp_2.htm l
    Running 10.5.8
I ran Disk Utility to verify and then repair permissions recently, but when I reopen the
utility again the very next day or same day and verify again I get what I am assuming is
the same errors, all seeming to do largely with some aspect of Quicktime?
Can anyone tell me what might be causing all these? I have pasted a copy of the permission
    errors below. Thanks a lot.
    Dan

Hello, you can safely ignore the second round, you need to Repair Permissions once in awhile, but Permissions Repair is really messed up.
It uses a combo of PKG stubs in Library>Receipts & a Database.

  • Disk permission errors

Hi, I just verified disk permissions for the first time.. my MBP is a month old. I was surprised to find hundreds of errors in the log, but they all looked similar, all for AirPort Utility, such as:
    2010-05-15 10:40:10 -0400: Permissions differ on "Applications/Utilities/AirPort Utility.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/MoreInfo.strings", should be -rw-r--r-- , they are -rw-rw-r-- .
    2010-05-15 10:40:10 -0400: Group differs on "Applications/Utilities/AirPort Utility.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/ProblemPanels.nib/keyedobjects.nib" , should be 0, group is 80.
    2010-05-15 10:40:10 -0400: Permissions differ on "Applications/Utilities/AirPort Utility.app/Contents/Resources/German.lproj/ProblemPanels.nib/keyedobjects.nib" , should be -rw-r--r-- , they are -rw-rw-r-- .
    2010-05-15 10:40:17 -0400: Group differs on "Applications/Utilities/AirPort Utility.app/Contents/Resources/Japanese.lproj/AAUAdvanced.nib/keyedobjects.nib" , should be 0, group is 80.
I don't notice any functional problems, but I'm wondering what these permission errors with AirPort Utility are about..?
Can these be left alone, or is it a good idea to run the repair?
    Thanks,
    Karen

So this means that I should run the repair anyway..
you can but it probably won't do away with those error messages
I wasn't sure if that was a completely safe operation
    it's safe, no worries
    to do routinely
not routinely. see this read: _*Five Mac maintenance myths*_.
or if it should only be done if there is a noticeable problem.
it's a way to troubleshoot your Mac, yes.

  • Permission error opening FCPX event

We're running FCPX (10.0.9) on an iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X 10.8.5 and when attempting to open an event we get the following error: Permission error opening [file name] CurrentVersion.fcpevent.
FCPX does not respond despite allowing an hour or more to load. We have done the following troubleshooting:
Deleted the following 2 Plist files under Go > Library > Preferences
    com.apple.FinalCut.LSSharedFileList.plist
    com.apple.FinalCut.plist
Deleted the Layouts folder under Go > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Pro
Used Disk Utility to repair the drive holding the file. --- No errors found
Ran DiskWarrior to repair any problems with the drive. --- No errors found
Created a new user on the computer to test FCPX and the event would still not open.
Has anyone encountered this? If so, can someone suggest a solution?

    Hi
I had this problem and have just solved it.
I was logging in as a different user and the permissions on the folders containing the library - and of the library itself - were set to Read Only for all users except the admin user that created them.
To fix, highlight the library, and select "Get Info" from the Finder File menu (cmd-I).
At the bottom of the info box you can select read & write access for all users. You may have to click on the padlock in the corner and enter an admin name and password to allow the change.
Do this for any folders the library is in and the library itself.
This worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.

  • Write permission error when Save for Web & Devices

I'm using PS5.1.  When I try to Save for Web & Devices I'm getting write permission errors.  I haven't used this application for over a year, but it used to work fine. I'm not sure what changed.
I also used the Mac Disk Utility to Repair Permisions, but that didn't help.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

The problem could be related to Mavericks permission problems. You can try the Bridge fix:
Open Finder > (go) Computer > Macintosh HD (for me) > Users > Click once on the Home icon (main admin) > Get Info >
click on lock and authorise bottom right > click on cog wheel drop down > click on 'Apply to enclosed items' > OK

  • 2008 Macbook OS 10.7.5 disk permission errors, freezes

    Hi, I have a 13" early 2008 MacBook 4,1, described as:
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  Intel GMA X3100 144 MB
    Serial Number  W88280ZR0P6
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)-
A few days ago it froze on startup. It loaded to my home window, I could move the cursor, but couldn't click on anything.
I got around that by unplugging from the wall and the battery, then it would run all right for a short while, then freeze again.
Ran Disk Utilities, verified and repaired the disk, and then found over 1,000 disk permission errors. Permissions errors were mainly from Safari or Itunes, a typical message line reads:
Permissions differ on "Applications/ITunes.app/Contents/Resources/tr.Iproj/InforDialogue ArtworkVieww.nib",should be drwxr-xr-x, they are -rxwr-xr-x.
I have the utility repair the disk permissions, which it says it does, then clear the window, and restart. When I go back to disk utiities, all the errors are back again.
I don't know what to do next. Re-install the Operating System? Get rid of Safari? (I hardly ever use ITunes, the other main source of error messages.) Take the machine to the local Mac shop? Any advice or insight would be appreciated.

Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on lock icon and enter your admin password. Click on the Add [+] button below the users list. Configure the new account and be sure to check the box for an Admin account. You also need to change the auto-login account which is done in Login Options. Log out of your account then log into the new one.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Installed PHP & MySQL, and now I have file permission errors.

    Hi Everyone
    I recently made a switch from using MAMP to making a separate installation of PHP, MySQL and Rails. I used the first tutorial for Rails + MySQL, and the second one for PHP;
    http://hivelogic.com/narrative/articles/ruby-rails-mongrel-mysql-osx
    http://www.entropy.ch/software/MacOSx/mysql/
Unfortunately, I now receive errors when trying to install activeCollab through it's own PHP install script, and WordPress won't let me import xml backups into a locally installed WordPress. This must mean that I don't have full Read/Write access to my 'Sites' directory (this is set as my default htdocs in the Apache httpd.conf). I haven't noticed any problems with Rails - so far it's only been PHP based CMS's which have thrown up the permission errors.
I've checked the file permissions on my 'Sites' folder - I'm the only user on the machine, and my account has full Read/Write access to the folder. However, I've noticed that there is also the option to choose 'Group' access, for which my account is again selected and given Read/Write access.
Then there is 'Others' category, and this has 'Read only' access. Is there an option in there which I need to select and give Read/Write permissions to? mysql, php ?
Or, is there a MySQL/PHP/Apache config file somewhere, within which I need to give global read/write permissions?
I didn't have this problem when I was served up local sites from MAMP - and I also configured MAMP to use the 'Sites' folder as it's default htdocs folder. I get the impression that because MAMP was installed as an 'Application', that it automatically inherited my user permissions - maybe PHP and MySQL don't inherit my user account permissions because they are services?...
I've come very far with getting everything installed to work with the OS X bundled Apache server (which I believe is 1.3 - I certainly haven't updated it) so I'd love to get everything finally configured - therefore, any help with this is very, very much appreciated!
