Application server 6.5 on Win 2k
Hi,
I'm preparing to upgrade my hardware and the new servers come with Win2k. Would I be able to install iPlanet Application Server on Win2k3?
Regards
You can install 6.5 on Windows 2000. Windows 2003 is not a supported platform, see: http://docs.sun.com/source/819-2021/rn_65SP1_mu7_win.html#instinotes

SAP NW 7.0 AS JAVA Application Server Installation in DMZ : Win 2008 SR2
Dear Experts,
We are installing two AS JAVA application servers in DMZ (XYZ domain) and the central instance is running outside DMZ (ABC domain). While trying to give the profile path of the CI, in the application server installation, it says that the path cannot be found. We have opened the following ports 54200,54201,54204,54218,54230,3342,3641,3310,3610,8010,8011, and 25. The installation inside DMZ is run with a user which is part of local administration group. The DB (SQL 2008R2)is running on a different host in a distributed setup.
Could someone please let us know if any other port needs to be open to allow communication between the central instance and application server?
Help is appreciated.
KPIf FileSharing disabled, Firewal is open, unable to do ping test. How does the poor App server can access the Path from CI ?
Please request your network team to open firewal between CI and APP server otherwise, even if you install you might get other below access problems
1). user's in App server can't update CI
2). Jobs in App server might run as expected.

Application Server 8.2 + Axis Web Service Client +Win Server 2003 Issue
Hi everyone,
I'm facing a weird problem the last couples of days and I'm getting bored of banging my head against the logs/screen, so please if you could help I'd really appreciate it.
I'm working on a Sun Application Server 8.2 project that includes an axis web service client. I am using Netbeans 5 to do the writing plus I am on a Win XP platform.
The developers of the web service I intend to absorb were kind enough to package the client into a jar so all I have to do is to import the client and the axis related jar files (axis, axis-ant etc.) in my project and my classpath.
Everything is working perfect on my pc but when I deploy the project on my actual server the web service client is running forever, leaving my end users with a blank browser window that is also loading forever.
The server OS is Win Server 2003 and is directly connected to a gateway - no proxies. Also my development pc and my server are running the same jre and have the exact server police settings; but Sun's Application Server is running on port 8080 on my pc whereas on my server it's running on port 80.
Here's my server's log:
[#|2008-04-14T21:50:01.795+0300|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.2|javax.enterprise.system.container.web|_ThreadID=14;|StandardWrapperValve[obos]: Servlet.service() for servlet obos threw exception

Any ideas?Hi Paz,
Thanks for taking the time :)
To answer your questions:
1. Has this WebServices ever worked or is this the first time?
The web service is working perfectly fine on my working station, the problem appears only when I deploy it on my actual server, which means that the web service is working.
2. What Apache Axis Version are you using?
1.4
3. What JRE version are you using?
Both my development pc and my server run jre 1.5.0_14
4. In the actual server environment, can you confirm all information are exactly same as DEV environment...
Oh yes! Absolutely.
My recent assumption is that some windows service might be needed to run the web service client and obviously I have no clue which one it might be.
Just to make sure; is the security policy of my Application Server set correctly?

Application server as win service
hello!
i have a question regarding the oracle internet application server: i installed iAS_101330_Apache2_Modplsql2_win32 on windows 2003 server. is it possible to run the oracle apache as service (opmnctl is not installed as service)? if yes, how? thx!
ciao,
christian
Edited by: Christian Ropposch on Jul 29, 2009 10:08 AMahoj!
i found the solution. you have to install the "opmn.exe" manually via "sc.exe":
sc \\SERVER create OracleOraAS1 binpath= "C:\Oracle\OracleAS1\opmn\bin\opmn.exe -S" start= auto
with this command an nt-service with the name OracleOraAS1 is created with start type automatic.
i don't know why this service isn't installed by default?!?

How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?
Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic or Code for how to do is welcomed.
plz help me urgently.
Thanks,
GopiHi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

Karol

Access to application server in SM51 request access logon
Hi Guys,
I installed an application server in windows with DB server in iseries V5R4M0.
The App instance run OK, but when i try access to SM50 app instance in SM51 the system request access data.
I put the logon data and y can entry to SM50 transaction app Instance.
I read the note 90323 and SAP recommends have the same kernel level in all servers. But due to my heterogeneous system i can´t have the same kernel release.
I don´t know if the logon request is mandatory in heterogeneous system when i try access to other servers in R/3 system or i need solve an issue.
I have a R/3 4.6C system with Application server with Win 2003.
Regards,
Ernesto Castro.Hi Ernesto,
your problem will not only occur with SM51->SM50, it will occur everywhere, where SAP is using RFCs to run ... You are having installed your appl server incorrect. I bet, that the DB server on i5 and the DB-server name on windows differ ... most likely in upper-lowercase ...
Just check the hostname on i5 with cfgtcp option 12 and on windows with "set" as sidadm and you should see a difference in the cases there ;-(
It is not totally easy to fix that, as the DB-server on windows is stored in the registry.

How to install ADF Runtime libraries to an Oracle Application Server 10g?
Scenario:
- JDev 10.1.3 (production) installed on my Win XP station.
- OC4J 10.1.3 Standalone installed on my Win XP station.
- OAS 10.1.3 (not OC4J Standalone) installed on a Linux SuSe server.
- I have admin credentials for the OAS but don't for the server.
Is it possible to install ADF Runtime from OAS Enterprise Manager? If yes, please, let me know. If not, I will have to bother server admin in order to copy those files. In this case, ca I rely on the log html file resulted from the install I made on my local OC4J instance in order to select the needed files?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Gustavo
São Paulo - BrasilAs far as i know the ADF libraries can be updated via the solution you gave :
Tools -> ADF Runtime Installer -> Oracle Application Server
but this only applies for an OAS installed on the same machine where jdev resides
for OAS in UNIX like systems i'm not sure if this can be done
as far as i know the libraries must be copied manually but i can't confirm this theory
i would like to know if it's possible to update the libraries from the Wizard on jdev installed on a windows machine to an OAS installed in UNIX? -
Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q2 fails to start - CLI156
I have installed and re-installed PE8.1 on my laptop many times (with security off). I followed Quickstart and after 60 seconds end up with CLI156. I have upgraded from XP Home Edition to XP Professional. I have been going round and round for the last 4 days. I have searched for CLI156 and have tried many options. Any pointers (if not memory references) would be appreciated.

I finally gave up the ghost, bought a 160G drive, installed it into my desktop, installed Fedora Linux and have not had a problem. Life would be much better if I could get it running on the laptop. My gut tells me that something is wrong with either JAVA_HOME or J2EE_HOME, but I cannot see it. -
How to read excel binary file in ABAP application server
Hi Gurus,
I have to read business partner data from the binary format of an excel file in application server. I searched in forums but only found solutions about using ole2 objects, but in ABAP application server there is no excel APIs, so I have to read binary directly. You know it is rather difficult, do you have any clues or sample function modules? Thanks!
Best regards,
HaoHi Deng,
I think there are two possible solutions:
1. Get the file created as tab-delimited or CSV as recommended earlier
2. Excel files are BIFF (Binary Interchange File Format). The Microsoft office 97 developer kit has tools for analysis and access. You may search for existing interface software or create your own ABAP code. Publish it on SDN and win great merits.

How to Raise alert in XI when a new file reaches application server
Hey guys
i have a requirement in which i need to trigger a piece of ABAP code whenever a new file reaches a specific directory of Application server.
i m using File adapter on receiver side and i want to raise a trigger so that the ABAP code is executed automatically whenever some new file reaches the directory
we are running Win server
thanx

AhmadHI,
It is possible to write a ABAP program to raise alert.and schedule it , In ABAP program we can check the file is existed or not in a specified folder if existes then we can raise Alert.Actually Alerts are maintained by SAP Alert Management only.
So , but not clear , you said you are using the File receiver adapter .
-- onoption is -this can bepossible with OS command .
-- also we can raise alert from Payload itself , why becz i understand whenever you are going to write a file with file adapter then you need to raise an alert right?
so if message is existed i mean data existed then from raise alert and store the file onoption
-- Also you can try calling an ABAP program as the auto-reaction method of the MTE in CCMS

Chilla

Can not Start Oracle Application Server ORB process
I have just installed Oracle Application Server (OAS) on my
machine running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. When I logon to the
OAS manager and tried to start ORB, I got below error message:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host ssoh_x
YOT-11034, Unable to make address: IP://ssoh_x.jgfhome:2649.
Error: YT::EXCEPTION::BADPARAM::NOSUCHADDR

YOT-11034, Unable to make address: IP://ssoh_x.jgfhome:2649.
Error: YT::EXCEPTION::BADPARAM::NOSUCHADDR
ORB is not responding. Please restart manually...
I have tried to re-install OAS for the second time. But I still
got the same problem.
I plan to use the OAS, together with Oracle Internet Commerce
Server (ICS) to develop an e-commerce project. I am yet to
download and install the ICS. I don't have any Oracle databases
installed in my machine. I'm using MS SQL Server 7.0 instead.
Please advised me on how to configure the ORB so that I'll be
able to start the application server.

Now you will be able to get the filesize and the file in SDOK format sdokbin.
Okay.
You have to build an request and push the content to the user like:
call method server->response->set_header_field( name = 'Content-Type' value = value ).
describe field file_content_binary-line length line_length in byte mode.
bytes_rest = file-size.
loop at file_content_binaries assigning <file_content_binary>.
move <file_content_binary>-line to data.
if bytes_rest <= 0. "mismatch between line values and size
exit.
endif.
if bytes_rest >= line_length.
call method server->response->append_data( data = data
length = line_length ).
else.
call method server->response->append_data( data = data
length = bytes_rest ).
endif.
bytes_rest = bytes_rest - line_length.
endloop.
This will work.
You can set the header fields like you want. Have also a look at sicf node contentserver

You have spaces in the path name which are known to cause trouble (like yours).
You can set the environment variable IDE_USER_DIR to a path without spaces and start jdev again. This should create some folders at the new location. then try to start your app again and see it it can build the integrated WLS.

Database 11g was installed on the server
During installation of the Application server 10g3(Full install) a database is needed (for orabpel schema etc), but the installer checks if the version of the database is higher than 9i2 . This check fails and installation cannot continue. I think this is because the check is not really if it is higher than 9i but it is looking for a predefined range of versions from V$VERSION and 11 is not within that range
Is there a possibility to overcome this? This is not a prerequisite check from OUI, but another check later on during install
I know that 11g is not certified yet for AS1og3, but this is a development environment to practice with the new releases.I know that 11g is not certified yet for AS1og3, but
