Application Server: 9.0.4 on RHEL 3.0 ES

Hi all, I've searched through the forum and just can't find anything that sort of links to this.
I have installed Application Server 9.0.4 on RHEL 3 and everything seems to be in order. I have followed all the instructions correctly (as per the instruction on http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleAS10gInstallationOnRedHatAS3.php). This has worked before using the same installation disks so the versioning isn't a problem.
The problem is that, although everything installs correctly (or so it says) and I can log onto the welcome page (on port 7777), I just cannot see the Enterprise Manager on port 1810. IE asks for the username and password which I enter and then it just sits there with the message "Waiting for ....".
The EMCTL, DCMCTL and OPMNCTL commands all work perfectly.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Russell

If you haven't done so already first check the port numbers in the portlist.ini file, in the install directory of your Oracle Home. If the port's okay then perhaps the following thread might be of interest: Re: em Console not starting for Standalone OC4J 10.1.3.1

  • Oracle Application server 10g on RHEL 4

    Hi Experts,
I have a oracle application server 10.1.3 which is installed on a IBM blade server which has Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (RHEL4) as operating system.
The server has a RAM of 8GB and has 4 processors (Intel XEON 3.8 GHz).
I have deployed an application on this server, the application has been developed in Oracle ADF (ver 10g). The jdeveloper version used for development was 10.1.3.2.0
I want to ask how many concurrent user session this server can handle concurrently. And how can i perform a stree or load testing on this server.
Are there testing tools available for stress testing (pls provide any name).
Using this configuration can this server can it handle around 500 sessions of users.
    Thanks in advance .

May be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.
A good starting point is My Oracle Support Note [url https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=564174.1]564174.1, "Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5". Make sure that you always use a 32-bit emulated shell (linux32 bash).

  • Installing Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL 5

I have tried following the directions in the following metlink note
Doc ID: Note:564174.1 Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Requirements for Linux : OEL 5.0 and RHEL 5.0
When I install database 10g release 2 and use the mrca to install it doesn't complete and tells me that the metadata isn't supported in that version.
Anyone have advise or know what I might be doing wrong?
    Thank you

Have you taken a look at this certification matrix (the "Oracle Database 10g and earlier Certification for Customer Data, and for Use with Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository Creation Assistant" section) to make sure you have applied all applicable/required patches:

  • Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 OPMN Configuration Assistant Fails Due

I'm in the process of installing Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 on RHEL.
This is where I'm stuck at: having trouble starting OPMN.
While looking up Metalink, I found Doc ID:ID 422562.1 close to solving my issue. However I'm not sure how to use the solution.
    Here's the solution:
    1. Install the 32-bit version of glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.i686.rpm.
Where can I download this file and any steps to install it would be great?
Note: To install 32-bit packages on a 64-bit system, you may need to use the force option and the nodeps option of the rpm utility.
    2. The glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.19.i686.rpm installs the crt1.o into /usr/lib; confirm that this file now exists:
    cd /usr/lib
    ls -l crt1.o
    3. Deinstall this failed installation.
Do I have to deinstall the entire EBS install or just the Oracle AS 10.1.3?
    4. Remove contents of /tmp and /var/tmp.
    5. Reinstall Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.0.0
How can I reinstall just the Oracle AS 10.1.3?
    Please help.

I kindly advice you to move this thread to "Application Server" section of this forum...

I am installing OAS on a oracle linux 5
when i get to 86 % of the installation process where it shift to the link page i get an error and to continue i have to ignore several erros
    any idea
    thank you

I found the solution. I ran the following commands it worked
Any installation of Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on OEL 5.x or RHEL 5.x in which Reports is getting installed will fail with reports relinking errors unless you apply the required RPM listed below. You may download the RPM package from the following location:
As root, you can install this RPM package by issuing the ollowing command
    # rpm -i xorg-x11-libs-compat-6.8.2-1.EL.33.0.1.i386.rpm
After the RPM, is installed, you will also need to override the /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 with the one from /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6. As root, issue the commands:
    # mv /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6.ORG
    # ln –s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6

  • Application server 8.2 configuration settings

I load some libs at classpath settings at JVM settings. It's working but i don't know the effects that this change makes. I read the Sun docs, but it says nothing about the effects... Somebody can help me on??
I want to know if the server will override their libs!!!!
    thanks in advance

    Hi
I have tried installing and running the Sun application server 8.2 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, it works fine for me. But it gave issues on in the pre-prod environment.
We got the reply from the support as it is not supported with RHEL 5, they have asked us to run it on RHEL 4.
So the bottom line would be that you can try installing and run few test but for the prod or pre-prod environment it is not recommended.

  • Application server Oracle 10g connectivity by using real IP

I have configured the Oracle application server 10g on RHEL update 2 version. It is posible to connet from client pc by using LAN network. But it is not possible to connect from client pc by using real ip over internet.

This is a network related problem. Quite likely a firewall issue. Nothing to do with the Oracle RDBMS product itself.
The only Oracle related issue is the Oracle Listener. It listens for network connections to the IP addresses owned by that Oracle server platform. You can make it listen to only a single address (on a specific NIC). Or on a set or all IP addresses (all NICs) on that server.
It does not care where the originating connection request comes from. If it is to a port and IP address it is listening on, it will accept that connection.

I want to migrate my Oracle application Server 10g 9.0.4 from RHEL 3.0 U4 to RHEL 3.0 U5. My oracle application server is running a portal application and it is also runnins as webserver. Since the existing setup has some performance issue i want to redeploy the applications again but portal users ( 600 + )created in the existing setup has to be migrated in the new setup.
Please give me some inputs in doing that...

If anybody has any helpful info on this topic, I am looking for the same.... to migrate my Windows-based IAS installation to Linux instead.
There is a backup and recovery function built into the IAS Enterprise Manager, but I am uncertain if cross-platform restores are supported or not.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to install Oracle Application Server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, when I launch the "runInstaller" script, I get a message saying that Red Hat Linux is supporter only till version 4.
Is there any version of OAS that supports RHEL 5 ??
    Regards,
    Carl

Run it like runinstaller -ignoresysprereqs. and it will pass this check.
Also i think there is a patch for oraparam.ini for that version, try to look the certification matrix to see if there are any patch needed for that version.
