Application Server Administration Service Timer Job stuck at Initialized 0% . Config Cache clear doesnt Help.MOSS2007

Hi All,
One of my WFE/Query server for MOSS is showing Application Server Administration Service Timer Job stuck at Initialized 0% in CA timer Job status.
In timer Job Status in CA under the SSP Job Control service I find the Application Server Administration Service Timer Job struck at 0%
I have tried Clearing config cache of the Farm . I have tried disconnecting this server from Farm and reconnecting it with Psconfig UI, I have tried running Psconfig.exe on the affected server. But even after doing this service is stuck at 0%
If I exit the OWSTimer.exe from task manager, it shows aborted at 0% . I am using a single SSP and reconfiguring SSP is not an option right now.
Any help regarding it will be greatly appreciated.

Have you changed the password recently? Also try to restart the windows timer service on all server.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Office of Information Technology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is seeking candidates for an Oracle Application Server Systems Administrator. This is a full-time, 12-month professional position. This position will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to get involved in early stages of an exciting new campus-wide portal initiative. The incumbent will be responsible for current and future campus-wide deployment of Oracle Application Server. Job responsibilities include:
* Installing and maintaining a multi-tiered Oracle Application Server environment
* Working with developers to configure, deploy and troubleshoot custom applications
* Implementing, configuring and managing:
- Oracle Portal
- SSO, OID and SSL/PKI
- Oracle HTTP Server (Apache)
- Oracle Web Cache
- Multiple OC4J Instances

The development and enforcement of standards and procedures is required in order to provide the necessary customer support. The position will be responsible for research, development, planning and deployment of new technologies in the Application Server/Portal domain.
The incumbent must be able and willing to perform enterprise system administration tasks as both a primary and secondary responsibility. The existing enterprise server environment includes Sun Solaris, Microsoft Windows 2003, Red Hat Linux, Mac OS X and applications such as Oracle, Lotus Domino / Notes and Web CT. The position requires high ethical standards along with attention to detail, a team orientation and a strong commitment to deliver high quality customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Must have at least three years of experience in systems and security administration, systems analysis, software version upgrades and implementation on an application server platform.
Preferred: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field is preferred. Professional certification and application development / scripting experience is a plus. Although an understanding of the architecture and components of Oracle Application Server (including Portal) and directory services is preferred, training will be provided for an enthusiastic candidate that is willing to learn.

Salary competitive; contingent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding with a minimum starting salary of $65,000.

1. I tried reinstalling OAS 10g today.
I did not enter the host name and/or domain name during installation, as it took both Automatically.
I see in config files the host name configured as - myhost.mydomain.com
where actual host name = myhost
and domain name = mydomain.com
I did give the domain name while giving the Global database name as
sid.mydomain.com
2. SSO server login is working.I'm able to login with "orcladmin" user, for url

Download to application server using job open/close

Hello people,
Currently I am using open/close dataset to download to the application server automatically. What I do here is submit a program execute in background when the report is done the report is automatically downloaded to the application server.
My problem now is that I want to use job open/close. With this, unfortunatley, my current method of open/close dataset will be unsuable to download to application server once the background job is done.
My question is, is there a way for me to automatically download a file to the application server using the job open/close method?

Hi,
What you can do is to write a report program that downloads the data to the file on the app server.
Now, you can use the JOB_OPEN and JOB_CLOSE and submit this program in the background which will write the file.

So what you are saying is that I create two programs, where the job open/close program is the one I will run?
Problem is that I plan to get the values of the selection-options from the original program using the program with the job open/close. How will that work.

Peoplesoft Application Server Administration Booting Error Occurs

Hi all,
Sometimes when I boot the process, the domain started and sometimes these error will occurred.
I've checked the services are all started, database are connected and the environment variables are set correctly but I don't know why these error occurs again.

How to get the list of batch jobs running in a specific application server

I am trying to check in SM37 if there is any specific condition to get the list of batch jobs assigned to a specific target server but cant find any.
Is there is way to find the list of batch jobs assigned to run in one specific application server.( Target server specified in SM36 while job creation)

Hello,
This is what you can do in SM37.
Execute the list of batch jobs, when the result appears on the screen edit the ALV grid via CTRL+F7.
Now add the following columns "TargetServ" and "Executing server".
You will now have two extra columns in your result list.
TargetServr contains the value of the application server where the job should run when you have explicitely filled it in.
Often this is empty, this means that at runtime SAP will determine itself on which application server the job will run (depending of course where the BGD processes are defined).
Executing server is filled in always for all executed jobs, this is the actual application server where the job has run.
You can also add these two fields in your initial selection screen of SM37 by using the "Extended job selection" button.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think cloning is fine to copy or clone a middle-tier instance. But for a copy of infrastructure DB one needs to use the chapter next to the referred one.

The term cloning is commonly used for copying the systems but in Oracle AS, it is for copying the middle-tier instances only. That difference is often misleading.

i have to clone a production machine (Solaris 10) which has oracle AS 10g, this machine had oracle database 10g before and just the application server was installed on it, i have to clone a test environment for this machine, i have the following two doubts
1) Is it possible to just install Oracle Application server 10g on a machine which already contains oracle 10g database, if so then what about the database that gets installed when installing Oracle application server 10g.
2) How to clone the above production machine, should the oracle 10g database be cloned first and then oracle application server 10g cloned on the new machine?

The DB that comes with OAS as the infrastructure DB for it (I presume you are installing a full OAS with infrastructure and midtier both) does not affect the DB you already have on your system ... obviously ... as long as you install them in their separate homes.
2) I always say, this term cloning is somewhat loosely used in general communication meaning making copies. In OAS context, Cloning works for middletiers only. You cannot clone an infrastructure.
To make a redundant/alternate environment for OAS, you can do the following:
- a) either use the same infra on machine 1, and install another midtier and register with the same infra.
- b) or install a separate infra on machine 2, and also a midtier registered with it.
Here for the first option a), Cloning can be used because you can (*only*) clone a middle-tier. There are pros and cons for this setup, including that you share the SSO, and OID, and hence users and groups bases, etc on those two environments - something that you may or may not want. But then there are also some way-outs to avoid them or minimize their effects too. Please see the following reference for cloning and search on Metalink for how to minimize effects, once you get better familiar with the processes.

Why did I fail to configure ODBC cartridge of Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advance

Firstly, sorry that I don't know if this question is suit for this forum.
Now I want to query oracle8 database through ODBC cartridge of OWAS. My software environment is: Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advanced Version, Oracle8 Enterprise Edition 8.0.4. They are installed in a winNT server.
First I installed oracle8 ODBC on this server and configure it successfully(that means I can query Oracle8 through ODBC). Then I configured ODBC cartridge in application server administration. In this process, I don't configure ODBCCartridge specific parameters because I don't known which parameter need to be configured. Last I restart WRB, LISTENER(Admin). I input the URL in Navigator 4.o as the following: Http://tpdcserver.tpdc:8888/odbc/tableprint?database=oracle8&dsn=oracle_data&username=system&password=manager&sql=select+fromALL_USERS
It displayed no correct page but error information: OWB-02002 Driver Failed.
I don't know why. Please tell me. Thank you very much!

Create application server moves files from i drive to c drive?

my set up:
windows 2003
sql server 2008
peopletools 8.51
application FMSC 9.1
PS Home on I:\TFS91
While setting up a demo system for FMSC 9.1, I noticed that the application server and process schedulers are being created on the C: drive.
This is strange because the PS Home are on the I: drive.
I start PSADMIN from the I drive, but every time I create an application server on the I drive it copies the application server to the C: drive.
Why is this happening?

The response message was:
This option has been deprecated.Please start the OC4J server to set the administrator's password. If the OC4J administrator accound has already been activated, use the Application Server Control Console or the Admintool to change the password for this account.
How can i access the Application Server Control Console or Admin Tool?
What is the exact path?

Application Server (Process Scheduler) Not Booting

Hello to all!
Having a quite difficult time booting the App. Server. Not sure what is going on? Not to my knowledge has anything changed to make the App. Server not boot this time. Probably a clinch, but still want to share my frustration. I presently run an Oracle 10g DB, PeopleSoft 8.50, Windows 7 Ulimate PC and here's what I am experiencing (see below):

Thanks for getting back to me! I think you are right in that this would be a question more geared toward to the Peoplesoft folks. The post is there, so thank you for that. However, you noted a key observation that led me to want to investigate more. If we look at a past post that speaks to your observation (ORACLE Initialization or shutdown in progress I believe it gave me more clues to go by. I do shared the same thought as the poster in that, the DB should have started as the service started for the DB as already. At any rate, I ran the instructed command in SQL, I got this script:
