Application Server - deploy trouble

Hi.
When I deploy 3-5 times application on app. server ... then app. server does not answer on request. I can`t login and I must go to reset (stop -> start) app. server and than process repeat again and agian ...
Is this assumed behavior for applicaiton server?
Thx.

Are you talking about deploying to a stand alone OC4J/OAS? If you are then you might want to ask this on the OC4J forum.
If you are talking about just running the application inside JDeveloper - make sure you didn't get an out of memory notice on the embedded OC4J log window.

I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
    Are they working good .
I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
    2) It does not create product instance .
If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.
    Advance Thanks

  • Application Server deployment

I have been having this heated debate on whether to run multiple applications on the same instance of the application server or on different instances. I am in favor of running them on different applications servers, what I would ask you guys is that if there is an industry standard in this respect and what is the most common configuration used in such a scenario.

OK here I am not talking about the ear files. SInce
I would suppose that one application can have more
than one ear files. In my experience this is not true - an EAR file is the deployment unit for an enterprise application.
WHere I am trying to go is
    1) How can I guarantee service levels between
applications? Would you do me a favor and define "service levels" for me?
    2) How can I prevent one errant application from
affecting other applications? The app server is supposed to handle this.
    3) How can I reconcile differing needs for operating
system patch levels between applications?...and so
on. The app server is supposed to insulate your applications from the OS.
    >
    >
    I think that
    1) Errant applications can negatively impact other
running applications. The app server is supposed to rigidly separate applications from each other. This isn't to say that an errant application couldn't negatively impact the app server itself though. The last place I worked had a policy where the infrastructure people would perform something called "Platform Integration" tests (or something like that) where they verified that the new app played well with everyone else. We had something like a dozen fairly heavy applications in production running from a cluster of app servers there with no significant troubles (that I heard about, anyway)
    2) There is no way to guarantee performance service
levels for different applications. Oh - do you mean uptime and/or application perfomance? True enough - the platform would be uniform (more or less) between all applications.
    3) All applications must work with the same WebLogic
version, JVM version, and associated patch levels. This is true. Though to me having several different servers all at different patch levels and JVM versions sounds like a worse problem.
    4) All applications must work with the same
operating-system version and patch level. The app server should insulate the applications from the OS. If you are creating OS dependencies within a J2EE application you have other issues.
    5) The potential for upgrade deadlocks between
applications (i.e., an OS or JVM patch that one
application requires ends up breaking another
    application). See #3
    >
    6) JVMs tend not to scale well past four processor
configurations, which limits the viability of the
    single-JVM model on larger machines.
I wasn't aware of this, this might be an issue.
But despite these points I fail to convince my co
worker as to why applications should run on their own
instances. If you could add to any more pros and
cons.Well, to me the pros are: Uniform platform providing fewer maintenance issues. I don't really see any cons though.

  • Sun Java Application Server - Deployment Error while deploying Hello applic

    Hi there,
I got problem when i try to deploy hello application after installing
Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1_02 (build b06-fcs)
I got the following error when i tried to deploy using admin menu on localhost:4848 using the button under web applications link.
A "com.sun.enterprise.tools.guiframework.exception.FrameworkException" was caught. The message from the exception: "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException while attempting to process a 'error' event for 'deployWebModule'."
The root cause is "javax.management.AttributeNotFoundException: id"
See the HTML source for more detailed (stack trace) information.
    I'm waiting for your help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I've found that if you remove the j2ee-application element related to the enterprise app you are trying to deploy from Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\config\domain.xml, and also remove your enterprise j2ee-app directory from Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2ee-apps\, it works.
This is not a permanent solution. I get the same error again, when I try to redeploy the application for the third time. Hope someone can help soon!
    Thanks.

  • Application Server JAXP trouble

    Hello there!
Actually I work with Jdeveloper 10g(10.1.2) and with Application Server 10g(9.0.4).
I've developed a java class that validates an xml file against an xsd file. This class works very well in the Jdeveloper's embedded server.
When I deploy and execute this class on the Application Server I get this error:
"JAXP DocumentBuilderFactory attribute not recognized: http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/properties/schemaLanguage"
This error happens when the parser isn't conform to JAXP 1.2 spec.
Exists a workaround for upgrade only the parser without upgrade the entire Application Server? If not, what's the best (and fast) method for upgrade Application Server to use the Jdeveloper parser? How do I resolve this issue?
I've posted the same problem on the OC4J/J2EE forum too, because I don't know where to post.
    Any tip is really appreciated!
    Bye

Massimo, have you solved your problem? If yes, please post your solution here. If not, can you try switching the lib/xmlparserv2.jar in Application Server with the one that is used in Jdeveloper?

    Hi,
Did you actually try to look at the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide for instructions as suggested ?
To redeploy a component, run the configurator that can be found in the start menu under Foundation Services. Then select "modify an existing instance". Then for Calculation manager, check the box "Deploy to application server".
    Thanks,

  • Applet for EJB on Orcale application server

I developed Oracle Application server deployed EJB. Then I developed Applet client for that EJB. Everything works fine when I use applet viewer for that applet. But when I try to do same from the Netscape (4.7) or IE5 problems occurs. First I try netscape alone. Netscape uses JDK 1.1.5. Applet created initial context, and found EJB on the server, but could not do anything (CORBA MArshall exception occured, and no completed string returned). Then I installed Java Plug in 1.2.2 and tried everything again. Now I always get naming exception. Initial context is created, but client cannot find EJB on the server ( [Root exception is org.omg.CORBA.NO_IMPLEMENT: minor code: 0 completed: No]javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException at oracle.oas.jndi.oas.SecCosNamingContext.resolve(SecCosNamingContext.java:265) at oracle.oas.jndi.oas.BeanContext.lookup(BeanContext.java:328) .........
occurs). Does someone has some expiriences or can help?
I can run the application but when it comes to applet , its not working.
further can the EJB applet run over Java 1.2 plugin?
    null

yeah, but appletviewer is not the solution, I am using jdeveloper 3 , OAS4081. I need to put the client on applet. The documentation says it will work. but the problem remains. I have lareday spent more then 40 hours to find a solution but it won't work.

  • Problem Deploying Oracle PDK Portlet to Oracle Application Server 9.0.4.0

I have a big issue trying to deploy a pdk portlet I have created in JDeveloper (10.1.2). The application is very simple, it consists of 2 JSP's (call them Select.jsp and Display.jsp) and 1 Java Class (Call it DoEverything.java).
The architecture of the system is VERY simple. The Select.jsp is a simple drop down list that is embedded in an html form, with the options in the drop down populated by a method call from DoEverything.java. Once the user selects an option and hits submit, he is sent to the Display.jsp, which is a simple html table that is populated by another method call from DoEverything.java. (Basically the whole system is a simple "view" of a given table in a DB based on the option selected in Select.jsp).
The system works perfect in JDeveloper, where I created it using the Oracle PDK Java Portlet wizard. However I'm running into a problem when I try and take it over to the Application Server. The main documentation I have been following is the: Oracle® Application Server Portal Developer's Guide and in particular the section 6.6.2.4.1 Creating a Connection to Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE where it explains how to connect to the App. Server. The line "The steps that follow describe the procedure for deploying to a standalone instance of Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE. For information about deploying to a full Oracle Application Server instance, please refer to the Oracle JDeveloper online Help system." is the one that is bothering me the most as I am trying to deploy to a full instance of the Oracle Application Server, but I cannot find anywhere that walks me through this in the online JDeveloper help.
Anyway, currently we ftp the appropriate JSP's, Java Class, provider.xml and provider properties files to their respective directories on the Application Server, register the provider and reboot the Http Server. (This has worked before except for the fact that when the user selected an option from the Select.jsp and the request was then sent over to the Display.jsp based on the form action the Display.jsp wasn't recognized. We figured the provider.xml file needed to be edited in this case in order to know where Display.jsp was being kept). In any event nothing seems to be working at the moment and my main concern is that it maybe we should be deploying as EAR/WAR (both of which I'm not super familiar and my second main concern is that it seems most people use JavaBeans and Struts and all sorts of different API's whereas here I just have a fairly simple Java Class back end that connects to the database and creates an object based on the attributes contained in the database (1 object for 1 unique row in the DB) and I want to be sure that the way I have developed this should still work with the Oracle AS. I'm hoping its just a matter of getting the directory structure straightened out and editing the provider.xml file to include all the JSP's.
Sorry for the long post, but if you could address my two main concerns and possible give me or point me towards a good thorough walk through of deploying a simple system (oracle pdk java portlet) like I have developed to the App. Server it would be greatly appreciated !
    Thanks a lot.

Basically I started to develop this system inside Oracle AS and then when it came time to passing a request to a new page, it crapped out on me on the App. Server. So instead of trying to fix the problem there and then I continued to develop outside Portal and inside Jdeveloper. After a week or two once all my stuff worked perfectly I try and take it back into Portal but only the first JSP of all my Portlets would show up, because as soon as I would submit a form and the action directed me to a new page and Portal would be lost/confused. Obviously I shouldn't have done it that way but none the less...
So now I'm reading through the documentation you pointed me towards and it seems I have to qualify my parameters and then "attach" them to the url which the form will pass to the actioned page. I'm importing numerous classes (...urlUtils, etc) in order to qualify the parameters and then build this url without affecting any parameters currently present that my portlet does not own.
What I'm rambling towards here is all this separation of logic and presentation and the whole nine, implies different people can develop different parts of a 'system' mostly independant of one another...so in my situation I shouldn't in huge trouble yet, since underlying everything is a working system. My issue is with oracle and the App Server. If I take my code which works great outside of the App. Server and I fully qualify parameters and make sure my form actions are constructed using the UrlUtils in order to fully qualify them as well, and then I make sure page parameters are mapped to the proper portlet parameter values....should my system work on the App Server (assuming everything is done properly)....or am I still missing something.

  • Deploy 9i Forms without Application Server ?

I wonder, whether I could deploy a Forms 9i Application without the use of the Application Server. Can anybody tell me, whether it is necessary to purchase any Oracle 9i Application Server licences, just because I want to deploy a simple Forms 9i application ?
    - Markus

I am developing forms 9i and reports 9i applications WITHOUT APPLICATION SERVER. I HAVE ONLY DEVELOPER SUITE 9i.
I have installed Dev suite 9i on middle tier. Forms services and Reports services are installed with Dev suite 9i.
I develop applications on my desktop and Install them on client machines where no Dev suite or AS installed.
Please mention what is the trouble you are having and I might serve you, if you are having the same problem that I HAD.

    Hi,
you could change the connection settings to the server in the preference page in the Developer Studio. Check <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/0cf28fb4d01f23e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">this</a> page in the documentation for details.
In your case, you can also use the host name of your laptop, or even just localhost, in the Message Server Host field in the preferences page. This should overcome the problem with dynamic IPs.
    Hope that helps!

  • Oracle Application Server Release 2 (10.1.2) Deployment Notes question

    Hi!
I'm following the Oracle Application Server Release 2 (10.1.2) Deployment Notes (http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/deployment_topics006.htm) for deploying an application, built in Jdeveloper 10.1.3 to AS 10.1.2. I have a question about Configuring JDeveloper to Generate Configuration Files That Are J2EE 1.3-Compliant. Do I need all the files in table 34-3? (http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/deployment_topics006.htm#CIHHBJAI)
I already have some of these files. Can I change the version of existing files or do I need new ones? How can I change the version of existing files?
Here are the headers of some of these files:
    web.xml: (Here I probably just change version="2.4" to version="2.3")
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1250'?>

             version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee">
orion-application.xml: (Is version="10.0" the version I need to change to "1.2"?)
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>

<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1250'?>I only have these three files from the table in my application. Do I need application.xml and oc4j-connectors.xml too?
    Thank you in advance!

  • Pagelets not rendering in Fusion ADF application pages deployed on standalone weblogic server

    HI All,
I am creating a Pagelet Producer connection, and dragging a pagelet on the page as iframe, with height auto. When I run the application in the integrated weblogic server, I am able to see the pagelet. However when I deploy the application on the standalone weblogic server, then the pagelet isn't rendered.
I am using fusion ADF application 11.1.1.7  and standalone weblogic server v 10.3.6.
Thanks in advance for yours assistance. Please I need a solution for this uregently. DO let me know, if you need any additonal information.
    Regards,
    Nikhil Mahto

Sorry for the wrong infromation. The correct scenario is:
I have an ADF application, in which I have a Pagelet producer connection, pages and taskflows. This ADF application is inlcuded in a Webcenter Portal Framework application, as a shared library. When the WCF application is deployed on the Weblogic server, the pagelets don't appear on the pages.
I tried the FRAMEBUSTING context parameter to never but it didn't help.

  • How deploy 6i Forms Fmx trought Application Server 10g

    Hello every one,
    Situation :
In my company, we have a software developed by a team using Oracle Forms 6i, the application is connected te Oracle 9i Database and every thing works well.
    Problem :
I was able to upgrade the database from 9i to 10g. But my question : is it possible to deploy all the Forms (fmx 6i version) on Application Server 10g. I want to use the 3-tiers architecture.
Take note that i have not the fmb source files. Just the FMX (about 40 files)
If yes, can you explain also how to proceed (tools to install on Application Server) and how to setup the connection between the 3 tiers throught a LOCAL NETWORK.
    Regards
    Kira

You will at least need to recompile all those *.fmb to *.fmx in the version of the App server you will be using.
We have a forms6 c/s application we are migrating to forms 11g and it almost that easy (except for changes in how you launch reports).
The application server is setup alot like the client/server side of forms is, it needs a tnsnames.ora that points to the database and it needs to know where you will be storing the forms and report. Looks for any *.fmx and that will be the default location.

  • How to deploy a web service on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2?

    Hi everyone,
I followed the instructions of the following link to create a web service using jDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. [http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/jdev/obe1013jdev/10131/devdepandmanagingws/devdepandmanagingws.htm#t1]
The web service created was deployed & used with no errors on the standalone OC4J instance.
But my goal is to deploy my web service on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2.
So after several attempts, I was able to deploy it on the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 but unfortunately I didn't know the URL needed to use the web service.
I tried the following link (http://192.168.0.91:18100/JavaWebService-GetDates-context-root/GetDatesWSSoapHttpPort) but also didn't work :(
I also tried converting to J2EE 1.3 and still not knowing how to access the web service.
    Please advice with a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lana

Thanks everyone for your help :)
The problem turned out to be that Oracle application server 10.1.2 is unlike the others servers, it uses 2 ports:
    - port (19100) is dedicated for the console.
    - port (7779) is to view your applications.
So the URL needed turned out to be "http://acteos-109.beirut.acteos:7779/beanTest" instead of "http://acteos-109.beirut.acteos:18100/beanTest"
    Hope this info is useful
