Application Server Enterprise Manager

Hello,
I have just finished installing application server 10g. Everything went smoothly during install, but I have a question. I know that it states that it is installing a database that you configure which happened and I can access through SQL+. I am trying to locate the database control - enterprise manager - for this newly created database. Does this product come with the application server? I have tried accessing it on all kinds of different ports, but all I get is the app server control console. I'm beginning to think it's not included, but I am unsure.....

No it doesn't... I assume what you want is the Grid control.
But please try to submit this type of questions in the General forum:

I have verified the listener, its up and running. Also tried restarting teh listsner. Still no response is coming.
Enterprise Manager ias Console for Infrastructure is coming up with out any issues, the issue is only with the Enterprise Manager ias Console in middle tier ( Discoverer home )

Incorrect start dates in Application Server Enterprise Manager

I have an odd issue when I look in my Oracle application server control webpage my start up dates are incorrect in the internet browser (IE7 or Firefox). All components are restarted nightly and uptimes on server show correctly through opmnctl status -l. Anyone else experienced this issue? We have tried multiple PCs and same thing.

Have you check the date, time setting in your linux, as well the Timezone used?

How to detect whether a database was created by Restoring (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager) or by Attaching (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager)

Ours is a SQL Server Express Edition 2008-R2 - Windows Forms based application. We have a backup/restore utility provided with our software which performs some logical checks before restoring a backup to ensure that the backup is functionally valid.
However, our clients often use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager utility to 1) Restore backups or 2) Attach data files (kept aside before formatting) directly. This type of action bypasses all our functional checks and allows the user to restore an invalid
backup.
We want to detect that a database was restored/attached and may be we will stop the software from loading if such a thing happened. We think that this information (attach/restore) should be available within some table of SQL Server itself but don't know the
right location/query.
If any change is required in our software to achieve the above, we are ready to do the same too, e.g. may be we need to store some data at some point of time to make the detection happen, please advise.
So, how can we detect that
A database backup was restored using SQL Server Management Utility
(Note: MSDB.Restorehistory may not be a good option as we have often found this table blank for unknown reasons even after backup was restored and just in case user restores the MSDB from MSDB backup or MSDB template due to a data corruption, may be due to
abnormal shutdown of system, then the RestoreHistory table data is gone)
A database was created by attaching a data/log file using SQL Server Management Utility
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

For Enterprise edition, we can enable Auditing to audit BACKUP_RESTORE_GROUP in a server audit specification. However, SQL Server audit (fine-grained auditing) feature is not available for the SQL Server Express.

I want to know that How can I connect SQL server Enterprise Manager Version 8.0 with Forms/reprots 6i.
currently I have oracle 9i database at server windows 2003 and I also connected with client (my PC) I work on server.
I also have SQL server in that server 2003 machine and this SQL Server also work with other clients that have VB program.
I want to know that can I connect with this SQL server with Form 6i?

You can't. The closest thing would be to create links in an oracle database to the SQL Server database using Heteregeneous Services and connect forms to the that.

I have installed jes for my windows system.. so that i have removed platform version of Application Server..
I try to add the Enterprise application Server (Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1) to JStudio IDE..
but i couldn't;

Configuring your IDE to integrate with Sun App Server is something you probably will have to ask in some sort of JStudio forum. Other than for Netbeans, Eclipse, or possibly IntelliJ IDEA, you might not have much luck answering an IDE question here. I could be wrong though. Maybe somebody will have an answer for you and set me straight.

Redeploy parent application with Enterprise Manager

If I attempt to redeploy a parent application using Enterprise Manager I get the following error:
"Only a single application can be redeployed at a time. Only childless applications can be Redeployed"
I don't understand why I am being prevented from doing something seemingly trivial. Why do I need to go through the process of undeploying all child applications and then deploying them again?

If all of the files uploaded piecemeal worked fine, then I believe your problem to be with your deployment descriptor(s). Also, note that the .war file lives in a different directory:
C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications\Application-Name
Perhaps if you have time you could post all of the associated deployment descriptor files. Log files from the C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\log\oc4j directory would also help to troubleshoot your deployment issues. You can turn up the logging level to "FINEST" for maximum output to your log file.

Has anyone successfully install Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 2005Q1 on HP-UX. I did a normal install with the below path set:

The deployment fails with the following error.
Deployment failed: Nested exception Root Cause: null; nested exception is: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. null; nested exception is: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
We are able to deploy the same ear file using stand-alone container. We are planning for deployment in few days to go it live. Pls suggest what could be the problem.
Hardware Used:-
DellServer Intel P3 dual processor 1.2GHz
1GB RAM
2GB virtual memory,
40GB free hard-drive.
Apart from 9ias enterprise edition, this system has Oracle database also on it. But the database is not being used at all by anyone.
No other software is installed on the system
Software:-
Windows 2000 Server sp2
Oracle 9ias Release 2 Enterprise Edition (Installed J2EE and Webcache)
Oracle 8i Database 8.1.6.0.0
Size of application:-
130 EJBs (107 CMP + remaining Session Beans)
1700 JSPs
3 servlets
Packaged properly into jar,war,ear structure.
the size of ear file is about 13MB.
I tried using dcmctl but still got the following error.

Try to fragment the 'ear' in less than 64k blocks or don't transmit as long raw.

Serious problems deploying web application with enterprise manager

Hi all,
First I have to say that this thing that has happened to me today is freaking bizarre... I was trying to make a new deployment of a web application on OAS 10.1.2, using the Enterprise Manager. The application is using Spring and DWR, therefore it has some XML files included. The application worked perfect in JDeveloper 9.0.4, our development tool, and I've previously developed very similar applications in the past, and deployed them on the same server without any problem.
Today, when I was trying to deploy my .ear file, I got this error message:
The file specified, "FindAnExpert.ear" is not a valid ear file.
I tried with the .war file, and this happened:

invalid END header (bad central directory offset). invalid END header (bad central directory offset)
I checked that all the included .jar files were fine, I even replaced them with new ones. I started to remove files from the .war file and discovered that without the XML files I was able to deploy the application. Then I copied over those XML files through FTP and the application is working correctly, but I was not able to use the Enterprise Manager to deploy it!!! The XML files are well formed, on of them contains the details of a data source that I also reviewed to be sure that it was correctly configured... This is nuts... any ideas over there???

I have forgot the password for Enterprise. Is there any way login into the enterprise manager with some system default userid and password. Can you inform what is the default userid and password for enterprise manager.

Depends on platform. For UNIX, use
ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl set password new_password
For windows, its explained in the release notes addendum:
14.5 Resetting the Administrator Password
The Enterprise Manager Web Site will enforce use of the current Administrator (ias_admin) password when you log in to Enterprise Manager, stop
the Enterprise Manager Service, or change the ias_admin password. If you have forgotten your ias_admin password then you must reset it using
the following procedure while you are logged on to your PC as the person who installed Oracle9iAS:
1.Edit the following file and locate the line that defines the credentials property for use the ias_admin user:
%ORACLE_HOME%/sysman/j2ee/config/jazn-data.xml
The following example shows the section of jazn-data.xml with the credentials entry in boldface type:

I'm not sure if there are known issues with iAS test drive and Windows 2000 howevere I would like to help you in cracking the error.
The GXBIND error appears only when the iAS is not able to communicate with the directory server. In our case, let us proceed by the following...
1. Check if the directory server is running. Verify this by checking the services and look for an entry for directory server and it must look something like
"Netscape Directory Server 4.1 (machine name)" and the status is started.
2. Next, if you are not able to start the console of directory server, then you must check if the directory administrative server is running. This is also verified with the services and look for the entry...
"Netscape Administration Server 4.2" and the status is started.
3. Next, if both of the above are running, then you need to login to directory server console by using cn=Directory Server and issuing the password. If you are able to login successfully then, iAS will work, if not, then rectify the problem with directory server and I'm sure iAS will work.
4. If you have forgotten the password for cn=Directory Manager, then there is a work around for fixing the password in directory server and iAS.
Please let the outcome once you have done this.
