Application Server on Windows for Production Database on iSeries

Hi,
We have installed Application server on Windows AMD64 for our Production server on iSeries running ECC5.0.
When the application server is started it blocks all the users from logging in. SQL 913 errors are encountered. Though, the CPU usage rate falls down considerably on the Central Instance, it throws dumps like DBIF_RTAB_SQL_ERROR, RUNT_ILLEGAL_SWITCH, RAISE_EXCEPTION etc.
For  RUNT_ILLEGAL_SWITCH dump, short text is:
Internal error: Unexpected status in ABAP/4 runtime environment.
Kindly help on this.
Regards,
Sai R.

Hi Sai
Make sure you have installed iSeries Access for windows client on the Windows AMD64 box
plus you have the latest xda interface as mentioned in the infoAPAR...
The current 64-bit XDA version is: 11.64.0.4  for V5R4...

Also try shutting down both the CI plus the App and then try deleting the SQL packages , then restarting SAP...
Hope that helps...else send detailed logs of the wp...

Can anybody please tell me how to install oracle application server 10.2 for oracle database lite (i use oracle database lite for my final project). I use wi-fi connection to synchronize between pda and my laptop as server. Should i install oracle internet directory before installing oracle application server? I have difficulties in installing application server, what are the options should i take in every page of installation? Thanks before.

Install with the base, do not select any other options. Only choose webcache if you require the use of a software load balancer.

  • Any issue with application server on 32 bit and database server on 62 bit

    Hi Experts,
Please confirm that application server on 32 bit and database server on 62 bit will not cause any communication related performance issues between the servers ?
    Thanks
    Raman

    Hi Anurag,
the .Net server for BPC 7.5 NW and the app/web server for BPC 7.5 MS can both run on either 32- or 64-bit server OS. However my understanding is that they are still 32-bit processes and as such have the same limitations on 64-bit windows as they do on 32-bit (in particular the addressable RAM limitation at 4 GB)
Note, and this is important, that this is for version 7.5 only. The BPC 7.0 MS web/app server HAS to be on 32-bit OS.

I think that you need to configure Web cache for this as a frontend, and two or more servers behind it.

  • Oracle 9i R1 application server With Windows 2003 server

    Hi all,
I am Getting error (Web Forms can install only Windows NT/2000) When installing Oracle 9i R1 application server in Windows 2003 SP1.
is any specific setting or workarounds available to install in Windows 2003 Server?.
    Abk

setup.exe -ignore sysprereqs this may work because it will detect that you dont have the appropiated OS, but it will ignore under your responsability and keep installing.
Also you may try to modify the oraparam.ini in the install folder, and add some lines for the Windows version that you have, but this is more difficult, because you should use the exact name of the Version in order to pass this check.
    Regards.

Could someone please help me with this problem? Thanks.

I installed the database with the setup program and come to think of it, I don't think you can specify whether to create a system or demo database. So I probably didn't install a demo, which is what I wanted. I also ran the SQRs and everything showed the database was correct, so I thought I did it right.
If I could install a demo with the setup program, I would do that because I think I could run through it pretty quickly having done it once. I've read in this forum and other places that it's much better to install the db manually, so maybe I'll just do that.
In any case, thanks for all you help Nicolas.

  • After Installing Application Server - Problem connecting to my Databases

I have 10g installed on my Windows server, and have no problems connecting to my database(s). After I install Application Server 10g, I am no longer able to connect to any of them, as if the TNSNAMES.ORA file is no longer configured correctly. I am training myself on these applications. Anyone have any suggestions what is happening behind the scenes?
    Thank you,
    Daniel Nadler

After deploying a jsf application via the web interface of the application server enterprise manager I tried to connect to the 10g database - and it failed with the same error as yesterday?
I really don't unterstand what is going on. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me out where to start digging for a solution / unterstanding of the problem.
Quoting this thread (installing db on same server as AS): 10gAS and Database Server on the same machine
    >
Yes, you can do this. Here are some guidelines:
    (1) Make sure your system requirements are sufficient to handle the application server and the database. The recommendation is to add the AS system requirements and the DB system requirements together.
    (2) Install each product into its own Oracle home. For example:
    - Oracle Home 1: AS Mid-tier
    - Oracle Home 2: AS Infrastructure (including Metadata Repository)
    - Oracle Home 3: Database
    (3) If your AS installation includes a Metadata Repository, make sure that the
Metadata Repository and the database use a different SID and global db name.
    (4) It is possible that the Metadata Repository and the database can share
port 1521. Review this information before you start your AS installation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/win.1012/install.1012/install/reqs.htm#CIHEBFDG
The installation guide under (4) tells me that I don't have to worry since I use a new listener version.
To complete the confusion: on my virtual test machine oracle 10g and oracle AS 10g work fine side by side?? Perhaps because I did a Standard Edition install of the database (on the real machine I used Enterprise Edition)? Is there a way to figure out what kind of install I did?
Lots of questions, any help or links are really appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    ------------------ EDIT -------------------
Whoops, I might had a problem with a not correctly shut down database (just shutted windows down without killing the instance - didn't know this wasn't ok). Still evaluating the issue. But to say the least, it seems the application server has nothing to do with my problem :)

  • Application Server on Wintel for CI &DB running on AIX

    Hi,
Would like to hear the experience/opinion of having Dialog Instance (Application Server)  running on Windows for a system having the CI & DB running on AIX with DB2 database.
    Regards,
    Cs

    Hi Cs,
In general to run R/3 on the mixed environment you must have the same
SAP R/3 Kernel across the landscape. It means that this R/3 kernel
should be released for all DB/OS combinations used in your mixed SAP
    Environment.
Also there must be technical interoperability between NT application
server and UNIX database server. The detailed information you can find
    in the document
"SAP® Heterogeneous R/3 Systems Based on UNIX/NT Combinations"
Please find this document on the SAP Market Place:
    http://service.sap.com/platforms -> Strategies-> Mixed SAP Environment
    Regards,
    Vincent
