Application server wont start

I am testing Lync 2010 Enterprise. We currently use OCS2007 R2.
I have all of the services starting just fine on the Pool servers except for "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS). I cant seem to figure out why.
I ran the following command:
Start-CsWindowsService -Report c:\servicestart.html
This is the output:
Start-CsWindowsService : Service "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS)" fail
ed to start within the expected timeframe: System error..
At line:1 char:23

   DeploymentException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Start failed.,Microsoft.Rtc.Management.Deploymen
   t.StartServicesCmdlet
Here is the output from C:\servicestart.html:
Error: Service "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS)" failed to start within the expected timeframe: System error..
I have 3 front-end servers, and all of them exhibit the same exact error. I have tried re-installing the OCSWMIBC.msi (WMI backwards compatibility - as suggested by another thread), but that doesn't seem to solve it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am having exact same problem when try to start the RTCATS service.
I have tried repair option in ATS.msi. But got the message that repair is not allowed. Uninstall and re-install the msi.
When I try to remove the service, I got first message stating that I have to reboot the server. I got something unexpected - a file in use. You can not uninstall this program.
Note: In my case, this is a production environment with Lync Server 2010 Standard Edition server.
This one is related to it or not, but the problem is associated with the same service. When service was running, I was not getting the following data when executed the Get-CsAudioTestServiceApplication
PS> Get-CsAudioTestServiceApplication

There is no sub parameter to specify the SIP domain. The SIP domain is always the same as "Domain.net". The everything else is working fine. Based on following link, I decided to rerstart the service and get in the problem in this thread.
Any pointer would be a great help.

  • Lanman Server Wont Start

My Lanman Server wont start and I get an error: Windows could not start the server service on local computer  error 193: Oxc1
I made sure the path to executable matched that in the registry value, and even tried putting quotation marks around the value as was suggested in another article, but that just gave me a different error.
I'm stumped and completely unable to share any files on the network, particularly the crm database needed by others in my office.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
According to the description about the error message:
    193 (0xC1): %1 is not a valid Win32 application.
Generally speaking, this error message caused by a application installation path error that cause the problem.
To troubleshoot the problem, firstly, you can try to make a clean boot for your system to test if the problem caused by 3rd program or service. Refer to the link below for more details:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Secondly, you can try to use Process Monitor to make a capture when the problem occures, this could help us make a deep troubleshooting with this problem.
    Process Monitor:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
Start Monitor before the problem occures, when this problem occured, stop Process Monitor and check the trace.

  • Sun Java Application Server 9 Start Up Woes

    Hi,
I was asked to install the netbeans 5.5 IDE (which comes with Java Application Server 9 bundled with it) and basically learn how to develop using JMS. After installing everything and following the JavaEE tutorial, I began to set everything up. I get hung during the Sun Java Application Server 9 start up.
It attempts to bind to my host name. After a week of research as to the cause, i discovered that the problem is that the server gets my host name from DNS and uses that as its bind location. The software running at my place of business prevents me from making connections such as these with anything but localhost connections.
I descovered this when I read on here from another topic that i should try and start the server after disabling my network card. This method works in that the server starts up, no longer using my host name as the host but rather using localhost. Now this in no way fixes my problem.
I was wondering if there were any workarounds that would force the application server or netbeans or whatever to use localhost isntead of doing a host name lookup?
The error I got was a NoRouteToHostException, and when I disabled my network card that error went away, the error changed to UnknownHostException, but the server started up and I was then able to go to the admin page and deploy applications (but not run)
P.S. I was going to post the output of the server start ups, but the size is crazy long, if you have a way for me to remove the stack trace I would be glad to give it a try.

Linux Fedora Core, by the way.

I switched to ActiveMQ and it works perfectly.
The issue had to do with Netbeans, no matter how many config files i changed, always used my computername.host.com:8686 instead of localhost:8686.
ActiveMQ starts and runs beautifully because it binds to localhost:8686.
I dont know what the problem was, Ive read lots of solutions saying its firewall or a firewall like process. I'm running bare bones Linux Fedora Core with no extra programs. I insured my firewall was turned off before even posting this. I spoke with my IT guys and they said that the firewall thats set up here at work does not block port binds.
My conclusion: IDEs are more of a pain then they want you to believe, im going back to terminal commands.

  • Application Server cannot start after restart

    Dear all,
I have a database cluster with SAP CI running on 2 servers(on SAN), plus 4 applications.
Today we have restarted all the servers, and found that only 1 server with database server and application server (w/CI) can start.  All other applications servers cannot start, and in SAP Management Console, it does not show the SAP Instance.
Another problem is that the database cluster cannot move to another server, with error:
"initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'M:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.)."
Can anyone provide any assistant?  Many thanks!
    Regards,
    Daniel

  • MySQL server wont Start

I had all my local setup running and my databases backups and local connections working fine, since i did the last security update my MySQL server wont Start and so all my Localhost or 127.0.0.1. host, on my sites and CocoaMySql, "Reason: internal Error". when starting it from my System preferences.
    Any recomendations?
    thanks indeed!

On the client (where of course you have a version
of mysql) you could have the same problem if you
    upgrade the system.
As far as I know the socket problem never happened in
the client version of the OS (at least I never had it
or read about anyone who had it).
    The problem is know, see:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060111113313511&lsrc=osxh
    and at the same link:
"Apple uses the same php module on Client" and it's also true in certain installation of mysql.
the problem regards the location of the file
    mysql.sock.
The problem of the location of mysql.sock, as I said
before, is something that has only been reported on
the server version, although CocoaMySQL (specially
the version) has problems connecting to mySQL 4.1.x.
The problem with Cocoamysql regards the fact that not every user configure the root user and his password.
Make the configuration after the mysql installation often resolve the problem, of course that is not every times the only problem you could have.
    bye

  • HELP--- HTTP Server wont start,

I disabled the Webgate protecting port 8080 thats being used by OAM now my HTTP server wont start. Thoughts on getting it started. Here's the Enterprise manager HTTP_Server log entry.
    08/04/10 21:18:53 Start process
    [Thu Apr 10 21:18:57 2008] [debug] mod_oc4j.c(1667): Initializing OC4J connection cache size to 40

fopen: No such file or directory
Apache.exe: could not open document config file c:/program
    Thanks!

I believe you have disabled the web gate in the OAM.But when a web gate is installed, it writes to the HTTP server httpd.conf file to as a part of installation and to redirect the requests on that server to the OAM. So Now if you revert back to the original conf file are the edition before the installation of web gate and try to start the same, you should be fine.

    Hi,
I was able to resolve this issue earlier with the below reference.
please check the doc ID 657411.1 on oracle support .(E-AS: exec PSSRCHSRV: CMDTUX_CAT:1685: ERROR: Application initialization failure [ID 657411.1])
It says the error might be because of the Add to Path.
check if this helps you in resolving the issue.

The PATH must be consistently formated (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin; ) or the Appserver may not be able to start and/or stop.  Mixed quoted spaces in your PATH can cause problems, so the launcher will remove all double quotes before invoking the process. The most reliable solution would be to remove all spaces from your path before starting the Appservers components.  |#]

The numerous "MQ startup failed" msgs in the server log would indicate tcp/ip socket/port blocking, either by a firewall or another running process that has the port that the App Server is configured to use at startup. Please see the FAQ:

  • Aplication server wont start

hello guys , knew into programming generally , and got a problem with my sun application server starting. i cant connect to the appserver on my local host and 4848 an if i try starting the server from the command prompt asadmin start domain1
it shows domain1 is already running cli156 couldnt start the domain name 1
pls any body help me on this i am gettin a bit nervous
    just a new flyer
    dejiman1

Howdy mate, firstly what Operating System have you installed the Application Server on? What version of the Application Server have you deployed...?
If you try to start the domain and it says that its already running then your in good shape, have you then tried:
https://<host>.<domain>:4848 (Note HTTPS) and the HTTP equalevant?
Next, if your running Application Server 7.x, search for a file in your Application Server install called server.xml, in that file you will see a port listed, 4848, search for that, it should say in the line somewhere that its secure or not (HTTPS or not)
In Application Server 8.x and Glassfish (a.k.a Application serer 9.x) its a file called domain.xml
For example in my GlassFish V2 (a.k.a Application Server 9.1), in my domain.xml file I have the following line:
    <http-listener acceptor-threads="1" address="0.0.0.0" blocking-enabled="false" default-virtual-server="__asadmin" enabled="true" family="inet" id="admin-listener" port="4848" security-enabled="false" server-name="" xpowered-by="true"/>
The port is 4848 and security is disabled, so the URL would be http. If "security-enabled" was set to true, I would need to use https.
    I hope this helps,
    Chris

    Hi,
I was able to resolve this issue earlier with the below reference.
please check the doc ID 657411.1 on oracle support .(E-AS: exec PSSRCHSRV: CMDTUX_CAT:1685: ERROR: Application initialization failure [ID 657411.1])
It says the error might be because of the Add to Path.
check if this helps you in resolving the issue.

  • Sun Application Server -  Trouble starting default server

    Hi everyone.
I am new to J2EE and am currently trying to get the Sun Appliation Server to run, but am having difficulties.
I have installed version 1.4 of J2EE SDK.
    Running Windows XP SP2.
When I run the program Start Default Server, it hangs for ages on the message "Starting Domain1, please wait" and finally after about a minute or so gives me an error message stating:
"Timeout waiting for domain domain1 to go to starting state.
CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1."
I have been told that it is very common to get problems with the port you choose for the JMS to be the same as somehting else on your PC. I have experimented with different port numbers (all of which not in current use - as indiated by netstat -a in the cmd window).
If anyone knows anything else I could try that would be great and much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Phill

  • Cannot start 2nd form on same application server when starting script in 1s

    Hello,
we have a forms application running on a productive application server and the same application for different testing db's on a test application server.
Within this application I can start a stored procedure that writes a spreadsheet via utl_file. Depending on the parameters used this might last 1 - 2 hours. When I start the procedure the forms application is blocked as expected until the procedure is finished. This would be no problem if there wouldn't happen a strange thing to some users: When they start the procedure every forms application on the same application server is blocked. This means they can work in production when they start the procedure in test environment but they can not open another test application and vice versa.
As this only happens to some users (yet always the same) I'm lost where I have to search. I found no differences on the client machines, these are installed by a central administration tool.
Has anyone an idea where I can start searching?
    Regards
    Marcus

    Hello,
I first wondered why this is happening only to some users. Now I found that it depends on the habit how the application is called.
The applications are called from IE with separateFrame=TRUE.
While I have a link in my XP start menue for every application and therefore start IE anew every time, other users use a website which has the same links. The difference I saw is, that I get a Java console for every application, whereas applications started from the same instance of IE share the same Java console.
So now we have a workaround (start IE again) but I still don't know why this is happening at all.

    Hi,
I was able to resolve this issue earlier with the below reference.
please check the doc ID 657411.1 on oracle support .(E-AS: exec PSSRCHSRV: CMDTUX_CAT:1685: ERROR: Application initialization failure [ID 657411.1])
It says the error might be because of the Add to Path.
check if this helps you in resolving the issue.

  • Application Server Auto Start

Its really rare that i am able so autostart my infrastructure and middle tier( both on same server) at system startup. I dont know with i do something wrong or is there problem with appserver
Right now i have autostart disabled but now i am facing aanother problem. I started listener and then asdb (infrastructure database) and opmn is showing status of HTTP_server as BOUNCE, before this i used emctl start iasconsole command which started my enterprose manager and also started all opmn managed processes but startus of my HTTP_Server was "Stop" and it was not working, i restarted my server and now before startign iasconsole i started opmn using "opmnctl start" command and then when i look at the status of all components, all are down but status of HTTP_Server is "Bounce"
    How to solve this.
should i use some other method to start all components ?
