Application tab ejects ipod

I just received an iPod Touch in the mail this morning, plugged it into the mac and sync started without fail. However, it will unexpectedly eject in the middle of syncing and when I select the applications tab the iPod ejects - re-mounts and then re-syncs. I have done all the "R" stuff and still no change in behavior. I have an iPhone and a classic iPod that sync with no problem.

  • Can't edit Applications tab in ipod touch settings

Maybe this questions should be in the ipod touch category i don't know. Here's my problem: I can't uncheck or check any boxes in the Applications settings tab. The box 'sync applications' is checked and in the scrolling menu all the boxes are checked but I can't change or uncheck the box. The whole window seems to be shaded grey. The applications don't sync either. There are some apps on my ipod that I installed before this problem occurred and they still function fine but any new apps that I've downloaded won't load. What's really strange is that everything else, my music, photos, etc. all sync fine. Please help! this is really frustrating

never mind. I solved my own problem but I can't really figure out how. I my ipod off and then back on and then it seemed to work like normal. I had tried restarting already so I don't know why this time made a difference.

  • Ejecting iPod won't work

(trying again here as 1st time I got no answer):
Is there a setting I can change on my iPod or PC that will allow me to click the little "eject iPod" button and have it actually eject? The computer says my iPod "cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
I'm automatically updating podcasts but manually controlling music. And I've checked the box that says "enable disk use" as when I uncheck it iTunes wants to totally redo all the music that's on the iPod.
    Thanks in advance.

"I'm automatically updating podcasts but manually controlling music."
    How are you doing this?
For the eject issue, try these.
Easy way. Reset the iPod, then disconnect when you see the Apple logo.
Another way. Hold ctr-alt-del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab and look for iTunesHelper.exe and iPodService.exe. Select them and hit the End Process button. Close the Windows Task Manager Window and try ejecting the iPod via the safely remove hardware method.
If you are still having problems you can try one more thing. Right click on the My Computer icon and select Manage from the list of actions. Go to the Services and Applications item and from there the services item. Double click on the services item to bring up the list of services currently installed on your computer. Look for the iPod Service and double click on it. From the new window select Stop. Now try again to eject using the safely remove hardware option.
McAfee ActiveScan security software also can cause a problem, and if you have this you might want to try turning it off and see if the iPod then ejects correctly.
If all else fails shut down the computer and disconnect the iPod.

  • Keep getting error message when trying to eject iPOD nano

When trying to eject iPOD, getting error message ..."cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application". No other application is open but iTUNES. What does this mean? and are there any tricks to get it to eject?

Usually this is caused when antivirus "Grabs" the drive to scan it in the background, and/or windows itself "Grabs" the drive for indexing and things. It also happens if you play a song off the ipod thru iTUnes, then stop it.
Usually rebooting will force it to let go

  • Help ! Forgot to eject ipod classic !

    If it is
    Do the Reset
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
    Disconnect the iPod

  • Why is the Application Tab so different from the rest of iTune?

It feels like the Applications tab is not from Apple. Is it done by a outsourcing company in China? There is no consistency between this tab with the rest of iTune. Is there a design theme across all parts of iTune? Why there is no list view for the Apps?
One thing I miss much is the ability to check off an App so that it will not sync to my iPhone. The same way that I can decide with song go to my iPod. Since the iPhone only has 144 slot for applications, it is important to have such selection ability. The other thing I miss is the rating. I'd like to rate the applications so that if I have purchased more than one version of the same kind of app, I can choose which goes to my iPhone based on my own rating. I also want to be able to sort the Apps by category in the list view. How about folders that each corresponds to one page on the iPhone? The way to reorganize the Apps icons is just a pain after you have more than a few pages.

    Hi LaiPod
These are good suggestions, I suggest sending feedback to apple via: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Error Message Cannot eject ipod shuffle

Hi. I would appreciate any help possible. I just received an ipod shuffle as a gift. I cannot get it to play anything whatsoever. An error message I receive provides a possible clue to the problem, however. Whenever I try to eject the ipod shuffle, I receive an error message stating the ipod "cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application." No application, other than iTunes, is running.
    Many thanks.

select ipod from the itunes source menu (on the lefthand side, w/ ipod icon). Click the Eject iPod button in the lower right corner of the iTunes window. when it has been succesfully disconnected you should get a msg that it is ok to disconnect on the itunes screen.
If it still appears, it is ok to disconnect, then simply reset it by turning it off, wait 5 seconds, and back on. This will save anything you may have on it.

  • Duplicate Application Appearing in Applications Tab

I have several applications that I have purchased for my iPhone, one of these applications (Fizz Weather) appears twice in the Applications Tab in iTunes. If I right click and delete one of the icons it always reappears when I shut down and restart itunes. Also, and I am sure this is related, there is always a '1' alongside the Applications Tab indicating there is one update available for one of the applications. When I click the tab and then click the text in the bottom right of the screen that says '1 update available', I am sent to a screen that says all applications are up to date. The '1' never goes away. If I 'Get Info' for either copy of the application they both point to the same file on the same path.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so is there a cure?

This issue is affecting me as well. Multiple applications are duplicated in the iTunes application Tab. I also cannot see some applications in the iPod Touch applications tab. I have it set up to only sync checked applications, and my list only contains the applications that are current on the touch.
I wonder if something with the latest iTunes update caused this issue?

  • No applications tab under devices.

I just bought a iPod touch from a friend, brand new. Synced up all the music, got the wifi working, but I downloaded some applications but I cant seem to sync them to the ipod. I know you go to the applications tab under devices and sync through that, but the last tab I have is INFO.

It needs to have at least firmware version 2.0 on it. Teh touch is up to version 3.1.
Click Home, then tap Settings -> Home -> About.

  • Missing Applications Tab

When I log on to iTunes, I am missing the tab for APPLICATIONS. I only have the following tabs: Summary, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos, Info. How do I add the APPLICATIONS tab so I can then transfer the games I've purchased in my library to my ipod touch?

One thing that might help out.
Along with neuroanatomist's post asking sure that you are running os 2.0.
Are you running windows 2000 as it shows in your profile at the bottom of your post?
If so, the minimum system requirements for ipod touch and iphone are win xp sp2 or vista.
    Hope this helps.

  • Keyboard shortcut to eject iPod?

I'm trying to figure out if there is (or how to create) a keyboard shortcut to eject my 30GB iPod 5G, either native to OSX Tiger or possibly using the program Quicksilver. Can anyone help me?
In this support document, Apple states that "you can also eject iPod by choosing a menu command in iTunes, or by using a keyboard shortcut," but they don't mention what that shortcut is!
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1853
    Thanks!

That is helpful, but not exactly what I was looking for - is there a way to activate this shortcut without making iTunes the active window?
No. A keyboard shortcut is simply a way to access a menu option FROM WITHIN THE APPLICATION without having to access the menu itself. Mac applications menus are contextual in nature. The same keyboard shortcut may have different actions associated with them depending on the application and/or window within the application that is currently active. It is like yelling "Hey, you!" in a room full of people. How is any single person to know to whom you are yelling?

  • HT2204 when i want to update applications on my ipod i doesnt come up with mine it comes up with my mums boyfriends email but not why ???

as it says wen i want to update my applications on my ipod touch 4th generation it comes up with my mums boyfriends email and not mine does anyone know why this is ???

iOS 6.1.4, which came out at the start of May, is for the iPhone 5 only.
What account were those apps downloaded with ? If they were downloaded with his account then they will be tied to his account so only his account can download updates to them. If they were bought/downloaded via your account then what id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app ? If it's his then try tapping on it and log out of it and then log in with your account and see if that makes any difference.

  • Cannot eject ipod

I have a new ipod. After I put the music on that I wanted i clicked eject. The error message I receive is "cannot eject ipod because it contains material in use by another application"
Nothing else is open - I cannot figure this out. The only thing I can think if is that some of the songs came off another hard drive. Any clues?

This message appears often to me, too. When it happens, you could try playing a song in iTunes (even better if you play a song or video by clicking on the file itself, not by choosing it in the iTunes library). Another way is resetting your iPod (holding the central and menu buttons toghether) while still connected to your computer. • Applications tab??

    hi.
i have an iPod touch and version 7.7.1 of iTunes.
and i just downloaded a bunch of free applications.
the thing is, even though my iTouch is plugged in, there is no "applications" tab like there is supposed to be...how can i get these apps onto my iTouch? they are all iTouch-based apps...but they are not syncing or anything.
the "applications" option is check-marked in my iTunes preferences.
    i don't get it.
    help, please.

Did you purchase the new 2.0 software upgrade for your iPod touch? You need this to be able to run applications on your touch. You did not make it clear in your post if you have this software upgrade or not. If not, you need to buy it from Apple for $10.
