It's not a question but I would like to suggest this game applcation called SymbiMaze that uses the acccelerometer feature of E52 and E72 and other new Nokia series phone

I think the accelerometer (orientation sensor) and the magnetometer (digital compass) are 2 different things in the E72.
One senses the orientation whereas one detects the north pole (magnet).
For checking the map orientation, aside from the free NorthPole app there's also the N97Compass which works similarly. I prefer the N97Compass since it doesn't require you to do the pre-requisite "Calibrate" first before it will work. Granted, when you don't calibrate while using the N97Compass, it will attempt to find the North pole but will say "signal: bad" until you calibrate. ;-)
The EDGE game seems to work well on my E72. Although the screen does seem small for this game. I think it isn't directly downloadable to the E72. I had to select another cellphone from the Ovi Store (from PC web browser) and then "send to friend's cellphone #" (my number) and open it with my E72 before the app gets downloaded.

I have a desktop app built in AIR using the 2009 namespace. Is there any way to incorporate any of the of the xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" components into it?
Or better yet, since the AIR namespace is sort of layered on top of the spark namespace, is it possible to do the same with the 2006 namespace?

xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" is the spark mx address, which is completely different than the original 2006 mx library.
The thing is: I love AIR, hate spark, loved the 2006 pre-spark functionality. It is so much more convenient and user friendly. Given the choice between having the display seperate from the processing, or having it be convenient and easy to work with, I choose the later option.
For the most part it seems like the AIR api is like a layer on top of the spark - flex system.. I would like to be able to over lay the same AIR functionality on top of the the old system....

Adding an External Application that uses J2EE Form Based Security

I'm trying to add an External application that uses the J2EE Form based security. i.e. uses j_username, j_password and posts to j_security_check.
I don't really see how Oracle SSO will support this. The container needs to take control of a clients request and determines when the "Login" page is presented to establish credentials. Posting directly to j_security_check isn't working for me.
I'm using Sybase EAServer 4.12 as the external application.
Is this supported in Oracle SSO?
Do I need to provide a different mechanism for logging user's in?
Also, can someone explain what the benefit would be if I configured the EAServer app as a "Partner" app? I would still have to provide an interface for login. The input would be different but the end result would be the same I guess. What advantages does a Partner app have?
Lastly, is there an NNTP server for these forums?

The cure for the symtops described below was to simply add a welcome-file-list
element with appropriate welcome pages to the web.xml descriptor. It makes sense
now that I have worked it out.

I want Firefox to open to my homepage every time after it crashes. I do not want it to return to the tabs and applications that caused the crash. I am willing to lose information. How do I do this?

Firefox crashes or seizes up when there are too many tabs and applications open, and causes my computer to crash or seize up. I use task manager to close Firefox or I restart my computer. Then, when Firefox restarts again, it automatically re-opens all the tabs and applications that caused the computer to seize or crash in first place. This is a waste of my time. I want Firefox to reopen to my homepage even if it crashes. I am willing to lose information to have Firefox reopen to a low-memory homepage. How do I do this?

Set the Integer pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

Problems creating a web service that uses the report generation toolkit

Hi,
Im trying to develop a web service using labview 2013.
I create a html form that is correctly communicating with my labview method and part of the web service functionality is to create a report from the data obtained in the html form published.
I realized that using the report generation toolkit inside of the web service method the server cannot generate a report. ( If I run the same Vi before publishing the web service it works on the server but it doesnt work after I deploy it)
I thought that maybe Im unable to use the report generation toolkit VIs inside of the web service because Im not incluiding the (dynamic VIs labview uses when they run), I tried to add the excel dynamic library to the proyect but with no success.
I also tried to use VI SERVER to call a VI that generates the report using the report generation toolkit in the method that runs when the web service is call but it doesnt work either.
How can I deploy a web service able to use the report generation toolkit ?, how can I deploy a web service able to use VI server ?
Any help is really appreciated.

The issue you are running into is actually a limitation intended by Microsoft. They don't want windows services to be able to call into the ActiveX interface for Microsoft Office for security reasons. If you are deploying your web service to the NI Application Web Server on Windows you will run into this problem since the web server is a Windows Service.
While I haven't tested this, you may be able to work around this by packaging your Web service with a LabVIEW EXE rather than deploying to the NI Application Web server.

Right way to code an AIR application that uses sqllite database

I am developing an AIR application that uses sqllite database.I want to know the correct way in which I should create the connections and SQLstatements according to MVC pattern.For example,whether i should have a single SQLStatement object for all my sql operations or I should use separate objects for insert,delete,select etc.I know how to open connection,execute statements and all,but i want to know the professional way of writing it.

Make a controller for connect to db and save the connection in global varible (in model). Use this connection variable whenever u wanna execute the sql statements. Create seperate dao's for each table. Queries should be executed under the daos. You can call the method under the dao for execute the query from controller and show the result in view.

Is there a way I can force an application to use the GPU?

I own a MacBook Pro 15in with retina display with integrated graphics from NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M. Currently I have my settings in the "Energy Saver" section of the System Preferences set for automatic graphics switching. I use an interior design application called Live Interior 3D Pro. This application uses a lot of 3D rendering that lags for a 2-3 seconds. I checked my activity monitor to see if the application was using the GPU, and it indicated it was not. I understand that I can uncheck the automatic graphics switching to fix the problem, but the problem is I hear it screws with the battery life. I do not want to switch off the automatic switching setting but do want this specific application to use the GPU instead of the built in Intel Iris Pro graphics thing. Is there a setting I can use to make just this application fire up the GPU when I open it? If not, do you know if switching off the automatic graphics switching setting messes with the battery at all? Also, does this mess with the performance of the machine overall since I have 16GB of RAM and only 2GB of GPU power or are those totally different and irrelevant? your MacBook Pro’s discrete NVIDIA GPU is more powerful than its integrated Intel graphics; that power comes at the cost of increased energy consumption. There’s no setting to allow exceptions to the automatic graphics switching; you’ll have to determine whether that power vs. energy tradeoff is worth it when running Live Interior 3D Pro or not. If it is worth it, then disable the automatic graphics switching before you run Live Interior 3D Pro, and reënable it after you quit that app. (You might look into AppleScript to see if that disabling and reënabling can be automated.) If it’s not worth it, then you’ll have to live with the lagging while it does the 3D rendering.

Several times I've re-entered my passwords under Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud and it won't save since I've installed Mavericks. Also, the iCloud icon in the left column in Preferences/Internet Accounts/iCloud is greyed out but allows me to click on it to set-up. When I click on iCloud the password is filled out but the "Enable this account" check-box is not checked. I check it, and all seems correct. The icon is no longer grey, the password is correct, the "activate this account" check-box is checked. Then, when I launch mail, notes etc. I'm still prompted to re-enter my apple ID. This was extremely annoying for me, also. I started uninstalling unneeded Sony applications to try to narrow down the problem. It turned out not to be a Sony application... it is some functionality built into the bluetooth driver software package by Broadcom. Uninstalling the bluetooth package (via the control panel) takes care of the problem. Itunes also boots up way quicker. But uninstalling it will remove features related to bluetooth and nfc. For me, that isn't an issue, since I don't use them. Since you said you're "computer challenged" I would probably just send an email to sony complaining about the problem. They'll get in touch with Broadcom eventually (the manufacture of the drivers) and get the problem fixed.
Side note: the Broadcom package is huge... nearly 1GB in size. Which is crazy. I can't imagine what it does considering the size of it. Entire operating systems can take up less storage. Also, I have no idea how it starts an itunes plugin without placing it into the standard plugin directories.
