Application to enable iTunes to stream over DLNA

Hi,
I have spent the last day looking for a solution but no joy...
I want to find an add on that will let me stream iTunes to my DLNA enabled Sony BD Player.
The two options I have found (Playback and EyeConnect) are not supported for Mavericks it seems.
Any Ideas?
I like using iTunes for everything so I don't have to set up more than one Media Server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro running Mavericks (OS X 10.9.2)
Cheers
James

  • Video format that supports iTunes- appleTV streaming AND DLNA

I have both DLNA support and an Apple TV. I've been converting my dvds to mp4 so I can stream via iTunes to my TV,,Unfortunately mp4 is not compatible with DLNA (mpeg2). Is there a video/audio format, or a software solution, that will work? Of course the simple solution would be for Itunes to support mpeg-2 formation...Any insight?

    Ok.
If you stick to this outline, using MOV that may work.
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Try using things like MPEG Streamclip, which will enable you to configure a profile

  • HT1420 I have ITunes Sharing.  We have enabled 5 computers but over the years 2 of them have gone bye-bye (crashed and burned).  The current computer has been reformatted and I'm pretty much locked out of using "sharing" to retrieve the music that was on

I have ITunes sharing.  We have already enabled 5 computers but over the years at least 2 of them are long gone no way to "deauthorize" them.  This current computer has just been reformatted as it crashed and I am trying to get all of the music back but am told I am at the 5 home sharing limit.  Anyone know how to deauthorize the old computers so I can have itunes on the primary computer?

We have already enabled 5 computers but over the years at least 2 of them are long gone no way to "deauthorize" them. This current computer has just been reformatted as it crashed
Are any of the two remaining authorisations on a computer you have access to?
If so, I'd try doing a deauthorise all from one of the accessible computers, and then reauthorise the ones you still have access to.

  • STRDN1050 - how to play DSD over DLNA?

the documentation of the STR DN1050 states that DSD can be played over DLNA.I can't figure out how to make this work. The same DSD64 files play fine from a USB storage plugged to the receiver directly. What software on my computer do I need to make the DSD encoded properly so the receiver accepts to play something?I have tried Minimserver, Plex and JRiver without success.I use Mac OS X.  Thanks for any insight

Hello mimizone, thank you for your message.
    Supported format ( STRDN1050)
DSD: 2.8 MHz, 1 bit DSD
By setting up your computer as a Digital Living Network Alliance® (DLNA) server, you can stream media, such as music, photos or video, over your network to a DLNA-supported device. DLNA devices include certain TVs, Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) players, HiFi component systems and computers. Once the DLNA server and device are set up and connected properly, the device can access media from the iTunes® application and iPhoto® libraries, as well as other locations on the computer. Follow the procedure below to set up the Serviio software:
    IMPORTANT:
The Serviio software is available on the serviio website.
The computer and the DLNA device must be connected to the same network for this procedure to work.
If you are using third-party firewall or security software, you may have to configure it to allow network access for the serviio software.
Click the System Preferences icon in the dock.
In the System Preferences window, under Other, click Serviio.
In the Devices: section, verify your DLNA device is showing, enabled and has an IP address.
NOTE: If your DLNA device is not showing or does not list an IP address, verify it is set up and connected properly per the manufacturer's instructions.
For more information about the servio software, consult the operating instructions or visit the Serviio support website.

  • How do I set up an iTunes computer as a DLNA server?

I have a nice new Sony TV and Sony Blu-ray player on order, both of which can do DLNA streaming over my household LAN.  They want to find a DLNA server with content -- and I have a Windows 7 PC with iTunes 10.5.1 and a massive library.  How do I make my PC/iTunes into a DLNA server?
If a third party app is needed, which are available and which are best?
Does iTunes have to be running?  Does Home Sharing have to be enabled?  Or does a third party app just read the iTunes file structure and serve them up?
I need music, playlist, and video sharing, and photo sharing is OK.  Because I have lots of AAC files, I assume it will need to transcode into MP3s (on the fly).  (I don't know if the video formats need to be transcoded too.)
Will Apple ever offer direct DLNA interfacing from iTunes?

  • HT4913 If the music library on my iPhone will be deleted when I enable iTunes Match, does that mean that I will not be able to access that music library when I temporarily turn off iTunes Match on the iPhone, e.g., when on the subway & can't connect to Ma

I have subscribed to iTunes Match and have employed it to listen to music on my Macbook Air and iMac.  On these devices it seems to operate by streaming music to the device rather than deleting the device's current iTunes library and downloading songs as they are played from iTunes Match. Not so on the iPhone as far as I can tell. Consequently, to date I have not activated iTunes Match on my iPhone 4S.  I presently have 40-50GB's of music on my iPhone, sync'd from my iTunes music library on my Macbook Air.  I am concerned that if I enable iTunes Match on my iPhone I will lose the music library already on my iPhone, as Apple seems to be representing that once iTunes Match is enabled on the iPhone the current music library, carefully compiled, will be gone from the iPhone forever (unless I later re-sync it from the iTunes library on my laptop), that it will be deleted.  Although this would free up a lot of space on my iPhone, I bought the 64GB phone just so that I could keep a lot of music on it and accessible at all times.  I am concerned that in certain instances, say if I am in the subway and want to listen to music on my iPhone but  don't have internet access below ground, that I won't have much music to listen to, only those songs previously played and thus downloaded onto the phone from iMatch, presenting me witrh a rather limited choice of music to play instead of the 40-50GB's I now have to choose from. Apple seems to have presented me with the choice of the lesser of 2 evils: i) enable iTunes Match and lose the music library already on the iPhone in exchange for access to iTunes Match and a greater number of songs than I can fit onto the phone (my library exceeds the phone's capacity) when a Cloud connection is available or ii) don't enable iTunes match and limit myself to only those songs, a considerable portion of my library to be sure but not all of it, that I can fit in the phone's storage space, i.e., the 40-50 GB's I have on there now.  If I choose the latter course, each time I purchase an album I'll have to delete another album to make room for it on the phone.  Apple thus offers me a sort of Hobson's choice, bad all the way around.  Do I have this right? The Apple techs I've spoken to don't seem to have a handle on the "deletion" aspect of enabling iTunes Match on the iPhone.   Right now, I'm too scared of "losing" my iPhone music library to enable iTunes Match on the iPhone. [Possible work-around, albeit a pain in the ***: I suppose that I can enable iTunes Match on the iPhone and spend the next couple of weeks 24/7 downloading songs from my iTunes Match library back onto the phone to replace at least some of those deleted when Match was enabled, thereby rebuilding a proxy library on the phone itself to play when I'm stuck in a tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan while maintaining access to thee larger iTunes Match library, more music than my phone will hold, once we come back into the light and my Cloud connection is restored.] Comments, suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

  • How can I get a movie that I created in IDVD to load in ITunes and stream to Apple TV?

How can I get a movie that I created in IDVD to load in ITunes and stream to Apple TV?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't, but you have a few alternatives.
Best option: If you made the movie on the DVD in iMovie (or even another editing application) and still have the project, go back to the project and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Next best option: If you still have the original movie that you put on the DVD, open it in QuickTime and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Worst option: Use something like Mpegstreamclip (Quicktime Mpeg2 playback component required) to convert the DVD to h264.

  • Install iTunes 10.7 over iTunes 11?

    greetings,
    my question is:
how does one install iTunes 10.7 over iTunes 11 if one has iTunes 10.7.dmg?
    here's where i am now:
this mac has OSX 10.7.5.  i tried iTunes 11 a month ago on an older mac that i'm getting rid of.  it has a bad bug and doesn't work right with my 120Gig iPod.  so i can't use it.  haven't had time to report the bug yet, but it's on my list to do...
somehow iTunes 11 showed up on my work MBPro yesterday without running software updater.  i always decline installing iTunes 11.  i used iTunes 10.7 tues night.  and last night (wed) when i plugged in my iPod, i got the new software license screen "accept/decline" etc.  i checked get info on iTunes in /Applications, and sure enough, it shows version 11.0.1 and a modificaiton date of wed morning (?).  i was in meetings most of the day and software NEVER ran...  but i digress...
regardless of how this happened, i'm trying to fix this and reinstall the previous version...
i found and downloaded iTunes 10.7 installer on apple's website.  but when i run the installer, i get a message "iTunes can't be installed on this computer because a newer version is already installed"...  never seen this before...
so i tried deleted iTunes 11.0.1, and get a message "iTunes can't be modifed or deleted because it is required by OSX"!  ??
i've never seen this before either.
so i assumed i need to boot from an external drive so that i can delete iTunes...  we have no "boot" dvd anymore.  but i have an exteral drive with the complete OS and various utilites so that i can boot from an external disc in case i can't boot from the internal drive or need to run a utility like diskwarrior...  but my company has forced a third party disc encryption software.  so this prevents me from mounting the internal drive when i've booted from my external drive.  there goes all of my repair and recovery tools, but i digress...
this is a new MBPro.  it took me forever to configure and get software installed because of the shenanigans of the companies IT department and the lack of physical media from Apple and other software vendors.  i just finished the same day i had to leave on a trip.
so i'm trying to figure out how to install iTunes 10.7 if iTunes 11 is already installed.
    i'd appreciate any suggestions.

ok, found a way to delete iTunes from terminal
    sudo -rf /Applications/iTunes
then i can run the installer for iTunes 10.7...

  • "Some of the applications in your iTunes library were not installed..."

"...because one or more errors occurred."
I've been getting this message for a couple of weeks now. Basically iPhone is unable to update any new versions of ANY applications downloaded to iTunes. I was hoping that 2.1 would fix this but looks like it hasn't, much to my disappointment. This is an infuriating bug. Is there anything that can be done about it? Really not happy about this.

I think I may have found a real solution (NOT a workaround) that both fixes the problem AND preserves specific app data, though I can't take credit for it (that belong to an Apple Store "Genius" somewhere in the US of A). It first appeared in another related thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1685284
    It goes like this:
"+1. Upgrade to iTunes 8 and iPhone 2.1+
+2. Sync iPhone so you have a backup (I make a zip of my backup directory and save it off just in case - see http://tech.kateva.org/2008/08/iphone-backups-are-stored-in.html for details)+
+3. Restore iPhone to original state using the restore button on the info tab. This wipes the phone.+
+4. When the phone mounts iTunes will ask if you want to treat it as a new phone, or restore from backup.+
(An addendum: I've done a couple of restores in the past - for unrelated reasons - and have come across the "Locked SIM" and "Emergencies Only" problem after the restore. This appears to be a problem with the reset phone suddenly not recognising the SIM. I don't know if this is a widespread issue, but it certainly seems to be the case for Vodafone SIMs, but I do know that the fix is to simply remove the SIM - while the phone is on - and replace it. I might add that this is Vodefone's universal fix for all SIM-related problems.)
    +5. Restore from backup. This doesn't restore everything -- but don't worry.+
+6. Sync (this will take a while if there's music involved).+
+When all is done everything should be in place. In the past the restores still left me with a lot of cleanup, but this time I only had to arrange a few icons. My passwords were restored.+
+Now, why do I think this will solve the problem?+
+When I did this iTunes said I had no updates. The App Store on the iPhone said I had 4 updates. I actually used the App Store to apply the updates -- a process that has NEVER worked in the past and has been trouble for many people. This time it smoothly applied the updates, and when it was done it said there were no more left."+
I've now had an opportunity to test this and can report success - phone now updates apps from either App Store or iTunes correctly - all the updates sitting in App Store were applied smoothly - and there's no data loss.
    Some caveats:
    1. DON'T attempt this first thing on a workday morning (like I did) - the process can take a long time.
    2. Switch to "Airline" mode - a call right in the middle of the process will terminate it and you'll have to start over.
    3. I run a Mac system, so I don't know if the fix works for Windows or other OS users. Reports back from Mac OS people are running at 100% fixed so far.
    4. It appears to be the combination of the latest phone OS (2.1) and iTunes 8 that lays the foundation for this fix. Make sure you've got both installed BEFORE you start this process.
Please report back on success or otherwise.

  • Streaming over HTTP

I'm new to streaming, so hopefully this is a quick answer
question.....due to firewall restrictions I would need to STREAM
via HTTP protocol over (80)....I can't use RTMPT (which I was able
to get working) because of protocol restrictions.....however, all
the documentation keeps hinting that you can only progressive
    download via HTTP...is this true?
However, other part of the doco say "you can stream via HTTP
if you have APACHE installed". My assumption was that all this was
doing was allowing Apache to serve the http "pages" and progressive
download the files....so, long story short, can a file be streamed
using FMIS over HTTP? Thanks for any help in advance.....

No... I think the docs are just using the term "streaming" so
the author didn't have to go into a long explanation of progressive
video (to save the non-technical users from information overload
maybe). You can't truly stream over HTTP. All HTTP flv delivery is
    progressive.
That said, you can deliver a streaming-like experience using
an HTTP application server. See the following:

  • HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool  to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

Then it says no to my request and, "item not available in the U.S. store." My Mac will not use update iTunes to any later version than the one I have because my os is also out of date, but when I try to update that i cant, so what do I have to do?  Please don't tell me I have to buy a new Mac to be up to date.

On the iOS device you must be logged into the store with the exact same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the service. Go to Setting > iTunes & App Stores and if necessary sign out/in and then enable iTM.

  • "Applications" view in iTunes renders and scrolls sluggishly

When I'm in the "Applications" section of iTunes (OS X), there's a delay in all the icons displaying, and then further delay as I scroll down a few rows at a time. I'm running a Macbook Pro 2.2GHz C2D / 4 GB RAM / GeForce 8600M GT 128MB, so it shouldn't be a problem.
By now, there are close to 300 applications (I usually don't delete any apps I download and try). Admittedly, it's a lot, and I could try thinning them out. But even so, considering these are just icon previews, it should be able to handle this smoothly, no? Or is this normal behavior instead of an isolated case with just my machine?

    Hey Jacob,
You can follow the steps in this article to transfer the purchases from the iPhone to the Mac.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
If the iPhone was setup with another computer or AppleID you may have to authorize the computer for that AppleID.
You can also just download the app again for free on your Mac. Just goto the app store and attempt to purchase the app again and it will tell you it has already been purchased and prompt you to download it again.
