Can I remove backuped files/folders from Azure Backup storage without un-registor the servers ?
I want to remove some backuped files/folders to compact Azure Backup Storage and to save the cost of Azure Backup.
Scenario 1: remove tempolary files from Azure Backup Storage.
Scenario 2: remove no-recovery files from Azure Backup Storage.
Scenario 3: move the files from backup target folder to other storage's folder.
Now, To remove backup files/folder from Azure Backup storage, I seems to need un-register the servers, and register the server.
    Regards,
    Yoshihiro Kawabata

Thank you Giri, for quick reply.
I want to save the Azure Backup storage cost, now.
I don't want to pay the Azure Backup storage cost for no-restore-need files until the backup point gets aged.
and I don't want to remove / re-backup the restore need files by un-register/register operation.
I feedback this issue to feedback.azure.com.

  • Transferring personal files/folders from Dell PC to an iPad2 or iPad3?

Is it possible to load some personal files/folders from my existing Dell desktop to an iPad2 or 3? Nothing too big, just some MS Office Word and Excel docs, pictures, and some PDF docs. I'm trying to figure out if I can/should replace my current PC with an iPad, just for personal use, not work. I'm so used to a USB port and flash drive to copy and move stuff and I understand the iPad doesn't have that capability, so I am kind of lost here. I have an iPhone 4 so am a little familiar with the apple navigation. Any suggestions/recommendations from experienced iPad users is appreciated!!

My formatting stays intact. Docs to Go talks about their 'intact technology' that keeps tabs, etc, where they were.
Obviously any mobile app is far less robust than a bonafide word processing program, but minor formatting, bold, italics, underline, tabs, etc seem to transfer quite well.
I don't have any complicated excel spread sheets so I don't have any experience with their functionality.
I've found the docs to to go be virtually seamless. That said, I've never used them with 'fancy formatting', so that may be trial and error.

  • Is there a software which can remove unused files leftover from removed applications?

Hi there guys, as the title says... Does anyone know of anything, or anyway that I can do this easily? I notice that I do have files left here and there from software which I have long since removed... Any easy way to remove these files..?

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

  • In idvd 6.0.1 how do I delete/remove files/folders from the media pane?

for some reason some of the folders in my photos media pane are now empty? how do I get rid of those folders?

iDVD is a tool for creating videoDVDs from some media (stills, video, music)
it is NOT the Finder, which is the Mac's "app" to handle files&folders
and it is NOT the "creator" of stills (iPhoto), videos (iMovie) or music (iTunes)

  • Outlook remove empty pst folders from stores with powershell script

I created a script that finds all pst folders in the My Documents folder of a user, moves those PST files and attaches the PST to outlook after they've been moved.
If PSTs in a user's my documents folder was attached to Outlook before the script is run. after the script runs successfully in the outlook profile those PSTs would have two entries in the stores, an old reference that is because the PSTs have been moved
those folders can no longer be opened in outlook and each time a user attempts to open the folder it prompts you to browse for the new location of the PST. Then the new entries in the stores which were added via the script.
I want to add removing those empty folders or rather those folders with broken file paths from outlook to my script. Because of these broken folders i can't enumerate through the list of attached folders in outlook, the script errors outlook.
I need help scripting (PowerShell) the task of removing broken folders from the outlook stores
    thanks

Here is a sample of the kind of code you need to work with:
    $ol=New-Object -ComObject Outlook.Application
    $ns=$ol.GetNamespace('MAPI')
    foreach($store in $ns.Stores){
    if($store.IsDatFileStore){$ns.RemoveStores($store)}
    # use $ns.AddStore() to reattache a store.
    # inbox dor account must be retrieved and maintained.
If you are not sure how to proceed then post in the Outlook Developer forum.  They should have many examples of how to move PSTs given different versions and scenarios.
You can also find many examples here:

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Not able to copying files/folders from one Document Library to another Document Library using Open with Browser functionality

    Hi All,
We have SharePoint Production server 2013 where users are complaining that they are not able to copy or move files from one document library to another document library using “Open with Explorer” functionality.
We tried to activate publishing features on production server but it did not work. We users reported following errors:
Copying files from one document library to another document library:
Tried to map the document libraries and still not get the error to copy files:
In our UAT environment we are able to copy and move folders from using “Open with Explorer” though.
We have tried to simulate in the UAT environment but could not reproduce the production environment.
Any pointers about this issue would be highly appertained.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi John and all,
One the newly created web applications that we created few days back and navigated to document library, clicked on “Open with Explorer”, we get this error.
We're having a problem opening this location in file explorer. Add this website to your trusted and try again.
We added to the trusted site in Internet Explorer for this web application, cleared the cache and open the site with same document library but still get the same above error.
However, another existing web application (In same the Farm) that we are troubleshooting at the moment, we are able click on “Open with Explorer”,  login in credentials opens and we entered the details we are able to open the document
library and tried to follow these steps:
From Windows Explorer (using with Open with Explorer), tried to copy or move a files to
    source document library.
From Windows Explorer moved this file to another destination document library and we got this error.
What we have to achieve is users should be able to copy files and folders using
Open with Explorer functionality. We don’t know why Open with Explorer
functionality not work working for our environment.
    Are we doing something wrong?
We have referred to following websites.
we hope concepts of copying / Moving files are similar as SharePoint 2010. Our production environment is SharePoint 2013.

  • How to remove junk files on iPhone 5s?

First of all, I'm just wondering if it's possible for me to view the junk files on my device (iPhone 5s).
If Yes, how? or do I need any software to view and be able to delete it?
When I say junk files, I mean those files (takes so much space) which created by the installed apps but it has no longer installed on the device.

    Hello there, Raminister.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great information in regards to orphaned files and how to solve issues with them on your iOS device:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Additionally this article is also helpful for understanding device capacity:

  • Cannot restore some files/folders from Time Machine Backup

When I try and restore files or folders from my Pictures folder, which is a sub folder of my user I get the message "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access xxxx". As far as I can tell this has only just started to happen because I've recovered stuff from the folder since I bought the machine in July. Yesterday I deleted an old Time Machine backup folder from the Time Machine disc. This caused empty trash to go berserk - the "files to delete" count went negative and I had to stop/restart the empty trash command about 20 times before it sorted itself out. Maybe this has screwed some permissions somewhere? I have run disc utility and repaied permissions on my hard drive and verified the TM drive. Still no joy. The permissions for Pictures look OK. Anyone any ideas?

Probably you corrupted your Time Machine Backup by manually deleting older backups- that is dangerous.
See Pondni's advice on how to fix it - Time Machine trouble Shooting
    I hope that helps

  • Permanently exclude certain files & folders from backup

I see in the discussions where you can delete certain files or folders from TM backups. Does this exclude those files from future backups as well? Or do you have to go back into TM every time and delete them?
    Thanks.

No. But you can add files/folders to the TM exclusion list in system preferences->TM->options. that will stop future backups of those files/folders.

  • Using jdk1.3.1 to transfer files/folders from one directory to another

I am writing a simple program to transfer files and folders from one directory to another
For example, I have some files and folders in C:\send\ directory.
I want to know how to move them to C:\receive\ directory.
Can someone please tell me which class I should use and which method?
I need to complete this urgently.
    Thanks.
    Deeply appreciate it.

not very difficult. You should use the File class and the "renameTo" method.
    Example:
      File origin = new File("c:\\lost\\myFile.zer");
      File dest = new File("c:\\found\\myFile.zer");
origin.renameTo(dest);Of course you have to take care that the file doesn't exists previously, etc. But i think that all you need is in the File class.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I add files/folders  from school to my Dropbox on iPad

I've emailed downloaded lectures for school to myself...Dropbox says I can create files/ folders and I am at a loss as to how to do this. I want to save all lectures/ material to my iPad and move them to Dropbox...I have win zip and iCab too...just don't have the knowledge to use them

With Dropbox installed, Go to the mail that you received, click and hold on the attachement and you will receive an Open in ... dialog, select Dropbox or folder in dropbox.
Go to Dropbox App and verify.

  • Deleteing files/folders from network drive

I have a USB drive connected in to my Airport Extreme and I have conifgured user level access accounts for this. The four the iMac G4, iMac G5, iBook and Powerbook are all able to copy and delete files/folders with no problems. My Windows Vista machine is able to copy files/folders but I am only able to delete folders when they contain no files or sub-folders - sadly I do not have access to the full message but it is related to not having the correct permissions.
The USB drive is Mac OS X Extended format as a Fat 32 format drive did not appear on the network (this was before the recent Airport update though).
Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so - do you know of a way around it?

    Guess it's just me
    Any ideas?
