Application Users

Is it good practice to have different users set up for each different CTI RP?
A UCCX system is used by two or more different groups - Sales, Accounts, IT each with their own scripts and CT RP`s for access numbers. Would it be best to create an application user for each "call centre" to separate the different groups and assicate the differnt CTI RP`s and ports to each user or just use a single user and associate all the CTI RP`s and Ports to the one user and separate the scripts in UCCX?
thanks

Hi
The bottom line is that you can't do this with UCCX - there is a single RM JTAPI user, and a single JTAPI user (per server in the cluster).

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • Cannot log in as an application user on Discoverer Desktop

    Hi
I have Discoverer Desktop 4.1.37.00.0 on a laptop. When I try to log in as an application user, when in connect field I enter database name, I get the following error message:
    ORA-12154:TNS:could not resolve service name
When instead of databse name I input connect string in tnsnames.ora file, I get another error message:
Unable to connect to Oracle Application Database:Invalid username/password
Please note that the checkbox 'oracle application user' is enabled while attempting to log in.
Secondly, in my Administration Edition in Tools>options>connections
the following settings have been done:
Connect to both standard and applications EULs
    Gateway User Id (GWYUID)/Password : APPLSYSPUB/PUB
    FNDNAM : APPS
Similar seetings have been done for the desktop.
Also note that I cannot even log in as a database user. The error message I receive is
'You do not have access to any End User Tables.'
The database user name I'm using to log in is the one who has created EUL(apps mode) and owns business areas in that EUL.
Can someone please guide me on this problem?

    Aparna

    Hi
The solution to my problem was exactly the same: I needed to apply the patch 3201601.
This patch is available on http://metalink.oracle.com
While installing the version 4.1.48.06.00 on my laptop, as I have XP, I came across some DLL errors.
For this refer to the note 297750.1, DLL Copy Errors when Trying to Patch Discoverer Administrator/Desktop 4.1
The note is also available on the metalink.

  • Query execution is faster - as SYS user vs. application user in 11.1.07

In +11.1.0.7+ database, we have noticed execution of an application process as SYS user is faster than the application user. To quantify this execution time was 2 hours as application user and same process when executed as SYS user completed in 1 hour.
We ran tracing for this process and tkprof output showed follwoing:
OVERALL TOTALS FOR ALL RECURSIVE STATEMENTS:
_call          count      cpu       elapsed disk query current rows_
    Execute 3705586 2440.49 *4294.54* 293602 21835223 23300886 3801288 <<< ==== SYS
    Execute 3703285 6356.69 *8576.50* 303175 21785419 23378086 3801291 <<< ==== Application user
We have SR open with Oracle, but thought if some one knows about this issue would be great.

What about the "Predicate Information" section of the execution plans - were those exactly the same? Did you use AUTOTRACE, EXPLAIN PLAN FOR, or the method that I showed to retrieve the execution plans? Where the SQL_ID and CHILD_NUMBERS displayed exactly the same? Is the STATISTIC_LEVEL set to TYPICAL for both sessions? You can check the setting in SQL*Plus like this:
    SQL> SHOW PARAMETER STATISTICS_LEVEL
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
statistics_level                     string      typicalAs a demonstration, I will change the value at the session level and then change the setting back:
    SQL> ALTER SESSION SET STATISTICS_LEVEL='ALL';
    SQL> SHOW PARAMETER STATISTICS_LEVEL
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    statistics_level                     string      ALL
SQL> ALTER SESSION SET STATISTICS_LEVEL='TYPICAL';If the above does not show a difference, you will need to capture a 10046 trace at either level 8 or level 12 for both sessions and compare the wait events and the STAT lines in the 10046 trace to see where the additional time is being spent. Reference these two blog articles for the 10046 trace:
    http://hoopercharles.wordpress.com/2009/12/01/10046-extended-sql-trace-interpretation/
    http://hoopercharles.wordpress.com/2010/01/26/10046-extended-sql-trace-interpretation-2/
Keep in mind that the goal is to not change anything until we understand the problem better. Maybe, just maybe, someone created a table (or view) or two in the SYS schema (or used a table/view name that matched a SYS owned object), in a normal user's schema, or there are synonyms pointing to different tables. So, it probably would be a good idea to verify that the results are exactly the same when the SYS user executes the SQL statement and a normal user executes the SQL statement.

  • Database vs application users

    Hi.
Please give some opinion on this:
Wich is the best approach for managing users in a typical three-tier web application, using jdbc:
    A) The database has one or two users with the proper grants and privileges to manage data(eg. read_user for selects and admin_user for inserts deletes and updates) In addition, there is a table with all valid application users. The third tier will connect to the database as one of the users, depending on the system login user, via jdbc. When someone new registers on the site, a new row is added to the users table.
    B) Database users are also application users. So, when someone new registers on the site, a new database user is created with the proper privileges. No need for users table because application user equals database user.
I know A and B have different security approaches, but appart from that, what are the benefits/drawbacks of each implementation ?
When is one better than the other ?
    Thanks a lot.

If you see any Major/big application , username , password maintian on application level (not on database level). use DBMS_OBFUSCATION_TOOLKIT to store encrypt passwd in table.

  • How to find how many cursors are opend for application user

    Hi all,
how to find out how many cursors are opend for application user and how many are opend for database user
    Regards,
    RM

Oracle does not know the difference between an "application user" and a "database user".
Oracle deals with a session. This session services a client. The client can be a J2EE application. It can be a Delphi client. It can be a SQL*Plus command line tool. It can be TOAD. Etc.
Oracle does not care who/what/where the client is when dealing with cursors and SQL. It deals with the session that services that client.
How many cursors does a session have opened?
Refer to V$OPEN_CUSOR in [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2008.htm#sthref3807]Oracle® Database Reference.
A select count on V$OPEN_CURSOR for a specific SID (Session ID) will return the number of open cursor handles in that session.

  • Application user RMCM was found to be deleted from CUCM but agents unable to log into ACD queue was reported 2 weeks later

Hello All, During an investigation Application user RMCM was found to be deleted from CUCM as per CUCM logs but the first issue of agents unable to log into ACD queue was reported 2 weeks later following a publisher reboot, I am trying to understand what could have caused this ? The reboot obviously could not have made any changes but the logs says RMCM users deleted on 09 May but issue was reported on 20 May and in the meantime services were said to be working without interruption . Can i have some suggestion to understand this to explain customer ?

The RMCM user being deleted might not have triggered a JTAPI update on the UCCX side.  The publisher reboot which restarted CTIManager would have definitely triggered the update and forced UCCX to re-authenticate with the now non-existent user.

  • SSRS How to grant BROWSE permission for reports for all the application users?

    Hello,
    Problem Statement
I need to allow all of my application users to browse the SSRS reports via logging onto the Report Manager and to some other I even want them to use Report Builder to modify & upload the report.
    How could I achieve this.
    Environment & Current implementation
We use SQL Server 2012 reporting services.
Custom authentication has been implemented using IAuthenticationExtension Interface. For more details, please refer
    this msdn link.
Currently, for each new user created in the application, the admin has to manually give BROWSER role to the username to enable that newly created user to browse the reports.
Is there any way in which we can give "everyone" the BROWSE permission and get rid of this manual permission granting process?
Please feel free to ask for any additional information you need to help me on this issue.
    Thanks!

    Hi vinaypugalia,
According to your description, you want to grant permissions for users to access report server in a batch, right?
In your scenario, you can use
script files( AddItemSecurity.rss and ConfigureSystemProperties.rss )with the Reporting Services SOAP API to assign permissions. It’s better that you add those users to a user group then run those script.

  • Not able to connect through Application user name in Discoverer Admin

  • Restroring unity conneciton application users in CMBE

    hi,
I think i am in a bit of a mess here, deleted the operator and undeliverablemessagesmailbox application users from cucm. unity connection now shows the operator user as as an orphaned account. Tried recreating the "operator" unity application user under cucm, but the operator account under unity connection is still not reassociating with the new "operator" application user account. how can revert back the operator account to its default configuration ?
Reassociated the undeliverablemessagesmailbox account under unity to a different user, need to change this as well and set the configuration to the way it was by deafult.
Appreciate all the help i can get.
    Thanks.
    Radhesh

You can have LDAP integrated users and local users on UCXN, if user was created initially by importing from LDAP, but then the user was deleted in LDAP within 48 hour that user is converted to local user. You can check that by searching the user in UCXN admin page and looking at the "LDAP Integration Status" setting on the main page.

  • Common application user

Hello, relatively new to Java. Setting up a simple app consisting of jsp/servlets connecting to Oracle database. Building pages with data from database. Using single application user via datasource/connection pooling. Using VPD, setting client_identifier with user name and setting another context variable to know who is connecting by calling a "authorize" procedure.
My question is: What is a common practice to set the context up in the database so you know who is doing what everytime a user requests something from the database? I thought about putting that procedure call in every other procedure but this seems redundant. Also, if I would just call the procedure from the page, then call something else from the page, the context would be gone. I'm sure there is a good solution to this, I just can't seem to find it. If someone could point me to a good example, that would be great. Thanks much in advance!

There are a couple of solutions. One way is to send the user a cookie once he/she's signed in. There are also other ways to do this, like EJBs (I think) that are potentially more powerful but more confusing to start with IMO
