Hello,
when in my app the user presses the Print-Button and the Dialog appears.
What is the reason for that? Is it normal?

AIR app can register for Invoke event. This event is dispatched when the app is started initially . Also, when you try to start an already running app, the running app would get an invoke event, indicating that the app was tried to be started again. You can use this to achive the functionality you desire.

Mail application will not open

My mail application quit opening a few weeks ago. When I try to open it with the icon on the dock and in the finder the screen just blinks. Even my computer savvy wife cant figure it out. My next stop is the genius bar unless there are some geniuses here. I can still get mail via .mac log in but cannot send links or documents as the OS mail application will not open when I need to send them.
Any suggestions????

I would take your OS X installation disc and insert it in the drive, then restart the Mac and hold down the C key until you see the spinning cursor on screen. When it finishes loading, select Disk Utility from the Installer menu and first Repair Disk, then Repair Permissions, then reboot from your HD, eject the OS X disc and try Mail again.
If that doesn't work, then the best thing in terms of time and effort would be to do an Archive and Install of OS X 10.5, with the Preserve Users and Network Settings option. This will install a new copy of 10.5, while preserving all of your current folders and applications, and moving all the old ones to a folder named Previous System. You can then use Software Update to bring it current to 10.5.3, run Repair Permissions when that's done, then Mail should work normally again. Once you've confirmed that and that all your other programs and files are intact and working, you can delete the Previous System folder.

My applications will not open

I have a PowerBook G4 that is about 5 years old. It was working fine yesterday and then all of a sudden nothing seemed to work. It will turn on normally, I can see my desktop, on the surface all appears as it should. But my dock has disappeared and none of my applications will open. If I try to open, for example, Entourage, I get the message, "Application Launch Failure - the application "Entourage" could not be launched because of a shared library error" if I try to open a word file I get "The application Microsoft Word quit unexpectedly". The computer will not shut down or restart (it will sleep though). To turn it off I have to hold the power button down. When I click on my Macintosh HD icon I see some of my folders - applications, system, user etc. but none of my folders with documents etc. are there. I see Macintosh HD icon and Network icon but everything else is gone. Any thoughts about what could be happening here?? Thank you!!

A few things come to my mind. 1. Perhaps your OS has become corrupted and you need to reinstall. You have at least a couple of choices. If you have a Time Machine backup, you can try to restore back to a place where you didn't have the problem. If that doesn't work, you might try to reinstall from the installation disks, trying first an archive and install. If that doesn't work, then a clean install. 2. But, I think the first course of action should be to check your disk by using the Disk Utility options. 3. If that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that your hard disk is failing and will need to be replaced. I'm not an expert, but this is what my experience was with a situation similar to yours. I'm guessing that your warrantee (Apple Care) is expired, so you may either have to install a new drive yourself, or take it to a Apple certified repair place. Good luck! ~~ Jon

Hi! I just turned on my MacBook and none of my applications will load. I can click on them but nothing happens--they don't even bounce or anything. Additionally I can't move any of the icons on my desktop around (I'm not sure if this is related or not) and the only things I can get into are my Macintosh HD icon and the folders on the desktop, even though I can't open anything inside of them. I installed a bunch of updates yesterday (not sure which ones, but there were a ton--everything from iTunes and safari to firmware and security stuff.) however, I used my computer this morning for a couple of hours and it was working just fine, but now I've tried restarting it a few times and it still has the same problem. Thanks for your help!!

Current Situation: The above command line parameter when executed is working as expected in a User's Workspace.

Software being used: 1. Adobe 11.0 enterprise version. 2. Webshpere Application Server 8.5.5.2.
Please let us know if there is a way to enable trace logs in Adobe Reader to further diagnose this issue.

Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 error occurred while generating the report (the application will exit)

Hi all,
I've encounter a pretty big issue while trying to check if everything with my windows phone 8.1 app is all right. After creating package (*.appx) I launched Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 to run it against all the test. Each time I try I get an error saying
"an error occurred while generating the report. the application will exit" and Certification tool just crushes
I looked online for some solutions but couldn't find any. Somebody knows what is going on and how to fix it ?

Windows Server 2012 - Backup failing with Exchange - The application will not be available for recovery from this backup. the consistency check failed

We have a Windows 2012 server with Exchange 2013, all is working fine except now i am getting issues with the backup.
'Exchange - The application will not be available for recovery from this backup. the consistency check failed for the component Microsoft Exchange Server'
I have checked the database all is fine, i have created a new db and move all mailbox;s over and then removed the old db, i have enabled circular logging and then disabled it, it seems no matter what i do i cannot get a full backup!
i did have to restore the server once and the backups still worked for about 4 days after that and then stopped, i have also tried to remove and re add the backup role!
i am stumped, any advice would be great!

Ok, i created a test db and tried to back it up right away, it failed, i did not add any mailbox's to it either. i got quite a few events in the windows logs, as well as the same event above i got the following:

What application will allow me to play movies with an external disc drive? I recently purchased an external disc drive and when testing it discovered that it only played the audio of the DVD, not the video. Very frustrated.

Every time I download a PDF I get a message that says There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now close. What does this mean?

I work on a Power Mac G5 running OSX 10.5.8.
We recently had to upgrade Java.
Now every time I download a PDF I get the message "There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now close."
I downloads the PDF OK, but then Safari closes and I have to start it back up to get to my email.
What is the message telling me? It did not do this before we upgraded Java.

I'm having the same issue. Again, unfortunately. And of course you will find through various searches that it is a reoccurring issue, one that Adobe seems to have failed to acknowledge.
You can delete your preference files. Same thing. RAISE blah blah crash.
You can even go and do a restore from an uncorrupted backup from over 4 months ago, and yet it still doesn't solve the problem, thus there is a compatibility issue.
The program is battling with another program (of which there really is no telling) and therefore crashing the moment you open it. The software itself is clean and uncorrupted, yet somewhere deep within OSX there is a problem that won't allow the software to open.
The only temporary solution i've found to solve the problem is a clean adobe install. Just delete and uninstall all and any traces of Adobe Acrobat, then reinstall to find a working adobe product. For a small while, at least.
I've never tried creating a new account, but from what others say it works. Not worth my time though.
If anyone was wondering I have zero third party plugins. Its straight from Adobe CS4. Pro version.
Someone above mentioned using the drop down menu in acrobat to reset the software. I can't even do that! The "RAISE" window pops up before that actual software! Its ridiculous!
Its really quite peeving to know that this issue has been around for years and Adobe seems to just ignore it. I know I don't want to pay for a company that fails to meet their customers needs. This is your problem Adobe, not ours to deal with. Fix It.

open the application "LaunchPad" then locate Numbers. Click and hold on Numbers until is starts to shake. click the "X" in the top left corner. click on the desktop to exit this mode. Now open the App store and install again.

Now all CS4 applications will not launch

I have been working with cS4 for sometime now. I worked in dreamweaver last night and tried to open a file but it took forever so I tried to force quit it. Still it was not responding so I shut my computer down and waited for 30 minutes. I tried to open it again but after i click the icon it jumps on the dock for a few seconds and goes away. Now All my other CS4 applications will not launch either. I tried to delete preferences but nothing so I uninstalled it. I just installed a fresh CS4 copy but it still will not work/launch. Thank you. I am using mac OS 10.5 Leopard. Never had a problem with any CS4 before. All my other applications work well only Adobe CS4 will not
