Application will not launch
I have an application called sbcStudio that will not launch. The Dock icon bounces, nothing happens, but the application is listed when I open Force Quit. This happens every time there is a new OS Software or Security Update. I'm running Snow Leopard, and to get this program to launch again, I'm forced to reinstall OS X and then redownload the cumulative update package all over again. I was able to open the application when I created a new user account, so I'm wondering if this is some sort of user specific permission issue? Repairing permissions using Disk Utility doesn't solve the issue. Neither does deleting appropriate .plist files. What should I do?
yes, multiple times. Don't get anywhere useful as their reps are trained only on their own software, not on how it works with OS X. I'm actually on hold again at the moment with them.

CS5.5 and OSX 10.9.4: Most applications will not launch even after uninstalling and reinstalling the Creative Suite 5.5. After my 2011 MacBook Pro 17 died, I had to purchase a new MacBook Pro 15 to replace it. I performed a Time Machine installation from that 2011 machine, and only Distiller and Acrobat would launch (none of the rest of the creation apps). So I ran the CS5.5 installer, uninstalled, then reinstalled, producing the same result. When I try to launch, nothing happens. What next?

Now all CS4 applications will not launch
I have been working with cS4 for sometime now. I worked in dreamweaver last night and tried to open a file but it took forever so I tried to force quit it. Still it was not responding so I shut my computer down and waited for 30 minutes. I tried to open it again but after i click the icon it jumps on the dock for a few seconds and goes away. Now All my other CS4 applications will not launch either. I tried to delete preferences but nothing so I uninstalled it. I just installed a fresh CS4 copy but it still will not work/launch. Thank you. I am using mac OS 10.5 Leopard. Never had a problem with any CS4 before. All my other applications work well only Adobe CS4 will not
Please!!!!!! I really need your help guys!

Palm 4.2.1 application will not launch after re-install of software
After migrating my palm software from my old g4 to my new MacBook Pro OS 10.5.6 and having sync issues I was instructed from PALM to uninstall then repair permissions and re-install. I have done this and now the new PALM application will not launch. Can anyone help?
What SPECIFICALLY happens when you attempt to launch the Palm Desktop? What error message do you see as a result?

After installing the 10.4.8 update, I have noticed that applications that I had previously installed before the update will no longer run. New downloads will also not run. I can extract the files, but clicking to run an application does not do anything. Looking at the Console utility, it logs a "crash" for application I try to unsuccessfully run.
That said, applications that came installed with OS X are running fine (iPhoto, Safari, etc). My firefox web browser is also running fine. I have also managed to install a couple of other apps from the internet (Flickr Uploader for example), but by and large, any other applications will not run.
Any ideas?From MacFixIt.com
Update prebinding Many cases of application launch-failure can be resolved easily by simply updating prebinding, via the following steps:
1. Log in as an administrator
2. Open the Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities)
3. Type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force and press Return.
4. When prompted for a password, enter your admin password, and press Return again. The process may take a few minutes, and you may see various messages flash by. The process is complete when the Terminal returns to a normal prompt.
5. Type exit and press Return.
Kill process in activity monitor Killing an application-related process via Activity Monitor (click the item then press the 'Quit Process' button) can allow proper application launch. This is especially applicable in situations where a restart cures problems with application launching, as the offending process(es) will, of course, be killed by the restart process.
Launch Activity Monitor (located in Applications/Utilities), then find the process associated with the problematic application, then quit it and attempt re-launching the applications.
Delete appropriate .plist files A non-launching application can be the result of a corrupt or otherwise defunct associated .plist file
Most of the preferences files that we will be talking about are stored in a folder named Preferences, and located in the Library folder of your home directory, e.g.:
* ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist.
Go to the ~/Library/Preferences folder, and search for any .plist files that may be associated with the application you are having trouble with. Drag the .plist file(s) [many applications have more than one associated .plist file, so be careful to scour for all of them] to the Desktop, then re-attempt launching the application.
You can also use an application like Preferential Treatment to check for corrupt .plist files.
Re-install the application Try re-installing your application from its original media or download source.
If an Apple application or component is not launching properly, you might need to restore it from the Apple installation discs per the instructions in our tutorial "Re-installing Apple applications from a Mac OS X disc/update package using Pacifist."
Clearing caches Try using a utility like Tiger Cache Cleaner, OnyX, or Cocktail to perform series of system cache deletion routines. Go from light, to medium to deep (the ordinal levels are defined differently in each application), checking to see if your afflicted application launches properly after each.
Also, check the following folder for application-specific cache files that can be deleted, or at least temporarily removed:
/Library/Application Support (look inside the folders here for files that end with .cache, and delete them)
Make sure permissions are correct A range of permissions issues can effect Mac OS X applications, causing them not to launch.
In these cases, the first thing to try is a disk permissions repair routine using Apple's Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities).
Failing that, startup from your Mac OS X installation disc (insert it, then restart while holding down the "C" key). After the startup process is complete, go to the "Utilities" menu and select Disk Utility. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button.
In some odd cases (usually after a backup or when transferring backed up data back to a startup device), permissions on the "MacOS" directory (the directory that normally stores the executable binary in a Mac OS X application) can become incorrect.
In order to fix this problem, use the following steps:
1. Click on the afflicted application to select it in the Finder
2. Either click the application while holding the control key, or use the "Action" menu (the icon looks like a gear) to access the option "Show Package Contents"
3. Open the "Contents" folder therein, and then find the "MacOS" folder
4. Modify the permissions on this folder to give it "execute" permissions for all users. Do this by opening the Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities) and typing the following command (don't press return afterward):
5. sudo chmod 755
6. After typing this, drag the "MacOS" folder to the Terminal window -- its path should appear. Press return, and you will be prompted for your administrator password, which you should enter.
The "MacOS" directory should now have read, write and execute priveleges for the owner, and read and execute privileges for the group and others.
Check CoreAudio As noted in Knowledge Base article #301658, some Apple applications might not open fully or at all if the Digidesign Core Audio driver has been installed as part of a Pro Tools version 6.9 installation.
Apple says to follow these steps if you are affected by this issue:
* Updating your Digidesign Core Audio driver may resolve the issue. You can find the latest versions for Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) at http://digidesign.com/download/coreaudio. If that doesn't help, continue to step 2.
* Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities).
* Click the Audio Devices tab.
* From the Default Output pop-up menu, choose Built-in Audio.
Check for errant plug-ins Some application launch failures can be caused by problematic plug-ins or other add-ons. Safari and other Web browsers are notorious for suffering from this issue, as are some other extensible applications like iMovie.
Check the following locations for any recently added files, or any files implicated in error messages generated when you attempt to launch the problematic application:
* /Library/Internet Plug-ins
* ~/Library/InputManagers
Re-apply the Mac OS X combo updater Try re-applying the latest Mac OS X combo updater from Apple's software downloads page. Doing so can resolve issues with system components or delete specific files that can resolve application launching issues.
Create a new user account Try creating a new user account, and check if the application launches under it. If so, a user-specific corruption issue is likely at play -- see the above sections regarding .plist files and caches.
Archive and Install As a last resort, try performing an Archive and Install process, which will retain some user settings but otherwise leave you with a fresh Mac OS X installation.
Also, check with the application's developer for compatibility notes regarding the version of Mac OS X you are running, and revert to an earlier iteration if necessary. -
Applications will not launch and install disk will not mount
Just recently my applications have taken a turn to not wanting to launch. These include anything from Dashboard to the Microsoft Office Suite. It also includes anything that is downloaded form the internet, like the World of Warcraft download client. Long story short, the errors that I constantly get are
System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.Framework/versions/A/Frameworks/Co reGraphics.Framework/versions/A/CoreGraphics
I figured that with it being a system library issue and the Repair Disk Permissions has been completely useless, that a complete restore would be in order. And I was wrong. For some reason my Genuine 13-inch MacBook Pro Mac OS X Install DVD will not mount. Meaning I out the DVD in said drive and it will attempt to mount but will eventually give up and eject itself. I can load any other cd/DVD into my drive and it will mount without a problem.
Everything is up to date software wise.
About my mac:

Apple OS X 10.6.8

Installed applications will not launch?
I downloaded Photoshop CS6 on the Creative Cloud. It says it's installed to my computer. According to the Creative Cloud Help, it says, "To launch an installed app, click its icon, name, or a blank space on its line." However, the application does not show up on my applications folder and does nothing when I click on the app in the Creative Cloud panel. There is no error, it just simply does nothing.

Mail Application will not launch
At about the same time MobileMe began, I have been unable to launch my mail application. I click the icon and it bounces, but then it just stops bouncing without the program launching or the mail window opening.
I do not believe it is related to MobileMe, but the timing is coincidental. I have tried Apple Support but the replied with a canned, unrelated, and completely unhelpful answer. It looks like several people have encountered a similar problem, but there does not seem to be any resolution posted.
Please help! I hate the webmail access so much, I am about to drop my .mac account and go gmail!!Log Part 8

N95-3 camera application will not launch since fir...
I recently upgraded my firmware on my n95-3. I am now on firmware version V 20.2.011 13-05-08 RM-160 Nokia N95 (19.0). Now when I attempt to launch my camera aplication, all that happens i the screen goes to landscape then back to regular and nothing else happens. Launching via the key, the shortcut or even a third party app that calls it, hs the same result.
I have tested the camera with barcode scannr software and it works fine. It is the camera app. that won't launch.
I have done the following in an attempt to fix the problem.
re-upgraded 3 times
upgraded without the mmc card (in case it had a corrupt program)
This may help. When in a call, if i press the focus key enough to focus but not to "snap", I hear a beep noise. This is new. I use my phone a lot and apparently press this key with my little finger all the time while on the phone.
Please help.Ooops duplicate post. See the thread above

HT3159 Mail application will not launch
Was trying to shut down the computer and a window said to quit Mail. I did and it still would not shut down. Then I tried to launch Mail again and it won't launch but can't figure how to relaunch Mail.
You'll find various approaches to this in this thread:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5014331?tstart=0
It's kind of long, but there are several solutions here. -
ITunes 6.1 will not launch
After upgrading from iTunes 4 to 6, iTunes will not launch at all. Neither will the new version of Quicktime 7 that I installed at the same time. After clicking on the iTunes icon in the dock, the icon bounces once, but the application will not launch or respond to any command but Force Quit. Does anybody have an idea why this is happening? I'm also on OS10.3.9
SOLUTION FOUND for iTunes not opening after upgrade to 6.0.1!
This took a lot of time and effort and the expertise of 2 long-time, devoted Mac users! Apple could not even come up with this. As I said in earlier posts, I believed it to be a code issue in the upgrade program, and so it seems. The upgrade doesn't delete the old iTunes version's "preferences" as it should, thus creating a conflict.
Here goes the solution:
-Close out of all applications running
-In your Finder go to the 'Go' menu and slide down to 'Home" and open it
-Double click on the 'Library' folder to open it
-Double click on the 'Preferences' folder to open it
-Change 'View' for all this folder's contents to 'list' format to make the next step easy:
-Drag "com.apple.iTunes.plist" AND "com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist" to the trash
-Close all windows and try starting iTunes from the dock. If you have no iTunes icon in the dock, open your applications folder off your hard drive, find the iTunes application. Click once on the iTunes icon and drag a copy of it to the dock. Once it's in the dock, click on it. It should open as a new version of iTunes (set-up) allowing you to transfer/organize your music, and so-forth.
Cheers!!
Paul
Thanks to good friend and fellow MacFanatic Richard "Dick" Muise of Springfield, MA, USA, for his insight and assistance in coming up with this solution! -
Pocket Mac for Blackberry Storm Will Not Launch
As posted earlier by evabrazil, I have the same problem with the new MacBook. I have installed PocketMac and downloaded the new drivers, but the application will not launch.
Can anyone help? ThanksHello,
Actually, I think that the battery is severely depleted...without a minimum charge, nothing will work.
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

Apple Script Editor

Also struggling with streaming sites like Netflix, extremely slow launch the video (No network issues, tried on different network).
The problem isnt percistant, occasionally the programs will launch and work.
I have tried re-installing OSX. I sent the machine to apple service, where they told me my hdd was defective. So i bought a new SSD harddrive and installed Mavericks and i still have the same problem.
Does it sound like a hardware or a software problem? -
