Applications 11i installation/Upgrade

Hi All,
We are going to upgrade from R11(running on Oracle 8.0.5 and NT) to 11i. Oracle Applications is used for educational purposes at our University. Two questions:
1. Can I install R11i on the same machine with R11 and test it before I upgrade 11 to 11i?
2. Do I need to upgrade to Oracle 8i EE before I install R11i or 8i is included in Rapid Install process?

Application 11i Installation Problems

I just bought the trial version application 11i CD pack. When I tried to install it to my computer with NT4.0 service pack 6, it did system check. I used stage area rapid install. The installer find 2 errors.
First error is 'System Utilities Check Check system for make,
ld,ar and cc'
Second error is 'JDK availability Check Check that a JDK exists
in the location supplied by the user'
My questions are:
1.When I check the error for detail, the first one tells me that
'Check MKS Installation'. What's MKS though? and what's make,ld,
ar and cc? Where can I get them and how to install them?
2.Where can I get JDK?
3.When I look up installation guide, I found that I need go to Metalink to get to know how to download and install JDk. But when I go to Metalink, It ask me to signin. I am not Oracle Contactor. I have no CSI. Is it mean I can not get JDK when I am not contractor? If so, why Oracle is selling application 11i trial version CD packs. It's gonna be some way to install 11i trial version.
Is there any one could help?

Hi all,
I ran into the same issues with the MKS software - Developers Edition. I contacted them, and the following work-around was supplied.
We have created a work around for Oracle users so that they can still use
MKS Toolkit for Developers (instead of the more costly option- Toolkit for
Professional Developers).
You can do what you need to with tkdev using 1 of the following:
1) Find out from what scripts the Oracle software is calling ld, and change
it to call cc instead. Some linker specific options may need to be changed,
but try it first with just changing ld to cc. This is the preferred option,
and the one most likely to provide success.
2) Temporarily create ld.exe as follows:
a) cp $ROOTDIR/mksnt/cc.exe $ROOTDIR/mksnt/ld.exe
b) cp $ROOTDIR/etc/compiler.ccg $ROOTDIR/etc/ld.ccg
This will probably work as long as the command line that Oracle is passing
to ld is very simple. This usage of cc.exe (by copying to ld.exe) has been
observed to work in simple cases, but is not supported by MKS.
I tried method 2. The reason here being, I would rather have unsupported code from MKS, than Oracle.
But, alas, it did not work. This is now the only item I have to resolve to start the installation.
I am open to suggestion ? I have obtained the enterprise edition of MKS, but I would still like to get the thing working with the developers edition. Also, if there are any differences between Windows 2000, and XP, can you list them

Java.lang.Exception: Invalid AD_TOP Oracle Applications 11i

Hi,
I have tried to complete Oracle Application 11i installation, but I have one problem.
I have multi node installation with 2 nodes(Virtual nodes with OEL 4).
First for database software and database and second for everything else.
I have successfully finished installation on database node and everything passed fine,
but when I have started installation with same configuration file (I have created it on the database node)
on the second node
I get the message in the log:
Starting CVM on Middle Tier.....
java.lang.Exception: Invalid AD_TOP
and my installation process wafting along time.
Can anybody help me with this problem.

Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i

Guys, I applied ATG.PF.H.RUP4. In postinstall steps it is mentioned,Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i(doc-271148.1)
which says after applying patch 4038964 do the following--
AUTOCONFIG ENABLED APPLICATIONS ENVIRONMENT
If the Oracle E-Business Suite configuration files are maintained using the AutoConfig infrastructure, proceed with the following:
1. Run the AutoConfig utility.
2. Go to [JAVA_TOP].
3. Run the unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4 command. If there is a file named as .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production, which indicates that XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 is installed correctly as part of appsborg2.zip. Otherwise, run ADAdmin to regenerate the appsborg2.zip file.
4. Restart the application tier server processes such that the new version of Oracle XML Parser for Java will take effect.
but actually the patch is already applied- 4038964. How do i verify if i need to do these steps or not.
The xmlparserv2-904.zip file is already there in wrapper.classpath. of jserv.properties, forms.properties. So i think i dont need to do these steps.

Can Applications 11i be installed on HP-UX Cluster

Hi,
I would like to know whether Oracle Applications 11i e-biz suite can be installed on a HP-UX cluster with 9iAS load balancing and automatic failover.
Further, please let me know whether I have to order any other "extra" software (other than the clustering s/w AND oracle 11i product suite) for this installation. If so, what do I have to purchase extra?
Are there any other hardware required (other than the cluster h/w) for implementing this solution.
Awaiting somebody's reply. Preferably of some one's who has implemented this in any part of the world.

ORACLE APPS 11i Installation

RW-50011 Error is coming while starting Apps 11i installation in linux(RHEL-ES)
with 30G for WindowsXP and 130G for Linux. I gave partition as 104G for Oracle,12G for root, 1.5G for Swapspace. I checked all the required RPMs to be installed. But while running the start CD I am getting an error.while completion of RDBMS - Disk 1, I am getting error RW-50004 Error. Kindly resolve this issue whoever has mastered over it.

Other people has had this problem before, you may want to check for it Re: Error RW50004/RW50011.
Most common solution for this issue has to do with the way ksh is being called from the path envrionment variable, and where the install script assumes where it is.
1. Make soft link of the file from /usr/local/bin/ksh to /usr/bin/ksh and before you start your installation start a session in a ksh environment.
or
2. Alter the search path used by the install script. Not advisable, as you are not suppossed to tamper with Oracle code.
or
3. Copy ksh From /usr/local/bin/ksh to /usr/bin
It is recommended to read the metalink this document Doc ID: 287453.1 "Oracle Applications 11.5.10 - Installation Update Notes for Linux x86 ...".

How to start and shutdown Oracle Applications 11i?

Currently, I've installed an Oracle Applications version 11i under Sun Solaris environment. However, I encountered problems when I tried to backup the whole system for fallback purpose. I'm not really sure about the procedures in shutting down the Oracle Applications components. So, is there anyone could tell me such procedures, hopefully including the command used for shutting down the whole application system? Thanks.
Besides, I would like to know how can I start Oracle Applications 11i as a daemon? If cannot, how can I start the server within the UNIX shell? Thank you very much.

You will have specified a common directory in your installation, which is usually referred to as COMMON_TOP.
Under <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts there are a host of shell scripts for stopping, starting apps components. Also, under the database Oracle Home (816 or 817) you will find an appsutil directory with similar scripts.
Typically these two directories will be in your PATH.
You can create a stop script, typically as:
adfrmctl.sh stop
adrepctl.sh stop
adfmsctl.sh stop
adfmcctl.sh stop
adapcctl.sh stop
adcmctl.sh apps/apps_password stop (wait till FND processes cease, a sleep 300 might suffice)
adalnctl.sh APPS_<SID> stop
addlnctl.sh <SID> stop
addbctl.sh stop
A start script would call the same scripts in the reverse order, substituting stop for start.

Unable to open forms in oracle application 11i

Hi All,
Just now i have upgraded the oracle application 11i with the Developer 6i (Followed the ID 125767.1 Document). After this i am unable to open the forms.
When i am trying to open it's geting stuck.
Do you have any idea how to resolve it.

Failure Oracle Applications 11i

We have the problem when running Oracle Applications 11i. The Message error :FRM:92090 an unexpected error ouccured
How to solve this problem ? What causing this problem ?

I grabed this from metalink note 178050.1. I haven't had to deal with this personally, so I can't say this is everything.

For mass deployment and simplicity upgrade to Jinitiator to 1.1.8.16 to fix this problem
95% of all pure Pentium 4 issues can be resolved by simply upgrading Jinitiator to 1.1.8.16 (patch 2127667). This places the correct version of symcjit.dll (3.10.0.107) on the client.
If Jinitiator is ever uninstalled due then this method will not require the end user to reame the .dll file since it will be seeded correctly.
Beware that at the time of this article, 1.1.8.16 is the highest version of Jinitiator certified with the applications. This is why it is the recommend patch. There are other jinitiators that will have the correct .dll but they encounter memory leaks. The only known problem with going Jinitiator 1.1.8.16 is left-handed mouse buttons do not function properly. There is a workaround listed in bug 2008854 for this, so it should not prevent users from going to 1.1.8.16.

Oracle 11i installation

Hi friends,
I am trying to install the Vision Demo version of Oracle Applications 11i Release 3 (11.5.3) on Windows NT.
I am stuck up in the "Post Installation" procedures, the exact process - "Repackage JInitiator with your digital certificate". After setting up the environment using envshell.cmd when I try to run the "adjbuild.sh" shell script using the following command -
C:\oracle\visappl>sh adjbuild.sh c:\oracle\viscomn\util\jinitiator c:\oracle\viscomn\util\jinitiator\jinit1183.exe
I get the following message -
required setup file oajsetup.exe is missing from directory c:\oracle8isappl/
The above step is supposed to create a new archive called "oajinit.exe" in the current working directory.
I am not able to proceed from this point and I dont know whether my installation process is complete without this step. Is there some alternative to the above step ? Can anyone help me with this ?
