Applications Can't Launch - 10810

Occasionally I will try to open an application, but it won't open. Instead a box pops up saying "The application '...' cannot be launched -10810." To be able to get the application to open I either must close my other applications (usually just closing Mail works) or restart my computer. It generally starts with Safari, but once it starts it spreads to most other applications.
I've run the disk utility and don't know what else to do to fix the problem. I have a macbook pro that's a little more than a year old.
Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Since you are running 10.4.10, I suggest you update to 10.4.11
Click the Apple logo top left in your Menu Bar, then click Software Updates.
Tip: Run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions BEFORE and AFTER each update or upgrade. This can save you many a headache down the road. <<I've run the disk utility>> Did you repair permisisons, or check the hard disk for errors using your restore disk???
If you haven't Repair Permissions before: Launch Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities)
Select MacintoshHD 10.4.x in the panel on the left. Select the FirstAid tab. Click Repair Disk Permissions. Only takes a few minutes. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility.
If the problem persists, you might need to do an Archive and Install, but try as many trouble shooting ideas as you can first...

  • Application can't open -10810

    Hi,
I've downloaded a WOW launcher on my mac .. at first inside the launcher.app (in its package's contents) wasnt an exec file so i did my research found a solution to that problem i used "chmod +x" it worked it changed to a exec file but after that when i click on launcher.app i get this error "application can't open -10810" , however if i right click on it and choose show package content and run the exec file there , a terminal window will open and eventually the launcher works.
how can i fix this error , thanks !

  • The application cannot be launched -10810

I just started getting the following error message on my iMac Core Duo:
The application "Firefox, Address Book, System Preferences --insert app name here" cannot be launched -10810
This seems to happen after the Mac has been running for a while (a day or so), and restarting it seems to fix the problem. But, it's annoying that it continues to happen. When it does, I can use the programs that are already open, but I cannot launch any new programs. Many other functions, such as simply double clicking a printer to open its dialog box, just don't do anything.
I've had other problems with the Mac freezing up and needing to hold down the power button for several seconds to restart it. I don't know if it's related. I've had the Mac sicne not long after the Intel models were released, is it possible that over the last several months I've gotten some non Rosetta/non Intel friendly software that's causing problems?
    Thanks,
iMac Core Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Intel, 256MB Video Card, 1.5GB Ram
iMac Core Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

That error message means that you have too many applications and processes open on the iMac. Turning off Windows File Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences except when you need it turned on will help. Otherwise, the next time you restart, open the Activity Monitor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder immediately and keep an eye on what it reports while you work.

  • Application cannot be launched - 10810

The last couple of days I've had this error come up on several occasions. I can't seem to have more than two apps open at one time. If I close one, then I can open the one that just gave me the error. I checked the memory and it read good - 2g. I process the updates as they come along. Any ideas as to what is causing this error?

HI JC and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Have you performed any maintenance lately?
    First check the boot disk for errors;
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Select your disk, and click First Aid.
    Click Verify Disk.
If the disk needs repairs, do one of the following:
Insert your Mac OS X Install disc in your computer’s optical drive or an optical drive connected to your computer, and then restart your computer. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the progress indicator, which looks like a spinning gear.
Follow the onscreen instructions until the menu bar appears with the Utilities menu in it, choose Utilities > Disk Utility, click First Aid, and then click Repair Disk.
Also, when you download and install software updates, make sure and run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions: Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
Also, check to see how much available drive space there is:
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is much better.
If you can find a crash log and copy/paste here that might help. Here's how to do that:
    1. Open Finder.
    2. Click "Go" in the menu, then select "Go to Folder".
    3. Copy and paste this path into the Finder dialog:
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/
    4. Click the Go button.
    5. Finder opens the folder containing the crash log. Look for a the crash file with a date field that looks like the most recent.

  • Can't launch application - 10810

After restarting all applications will launch, but after several minutes - when I try to launch a new application, I get the message "Can't launch application XYZ - 10810"
If I restart, then, again, any application will launch.

    See if this helps:
The following have been suggested as possible solutions:
    1. If you're using 10.3, you need to get rid of the following:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices.6B.csstore
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
(where '~' means your Home directory, i.e. '/Users/yourname')
    2. If you have Virex or other virus software installed, try uninstalling it. Be sure to use uninstallers that come with the software because simply deleting the application does not fully uninstall most virus software.
After deleting the referenced files above you will want to do a restart. Then use Disk Utility in your Utilities folder to repair permissions.

  • [SOLVED] pekwm - can't launch certain applications outside from termin

I'm currently using pekwm and I'm experiencing a strange issue.
I can't launch certain, random applications by keyboard-shortcut, the pekwm-command-launcher, the start file (pekwm start file and .xinitrc) and the menu.
But it works if I open a terminal and launch the application there.
The applications that don't open include chromium, tint2 and mpc.
Does anybody know how to make these applications launch everywhere?

I couldn't get tint2 to work at all in PekWM. I hope a PekWM guru takes notice of this thread...

  • I can't launch Safari. When I right click on the icon, the "Application not responding" is grey and no matter what method I use to Force quit, I get no response.

I can't launch Safari. When I right click on the icon, the "Application not responding" is grey and no matter what method I use to Force quit, I get no response.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • NI-CAN Bus Monitor Application does not launch

I have just installed a PCI-CAN Series-2 Card. I tested the card installtion through MAX (by running the Self Test). The card passes the test. However, when I try to launch the Bus Monitor Application, there is no response. No error message is displayed, and the application does not launch.
Does anybody know why this would occur? Something that I am missing out during the installation?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Generally to get the Bus Monitor Application open, all you have to do is right click on the CAN interface that you want to monitor (in MAX) and click on Bus Monitor. If this is what is failing for you, consider trying the following things:
-First, make sure that you have updated information about installed hardware in MAX by pressing the F5 key.
-Run NI-Spy to see if any CAN calls are being made to the NI-CAN Driver. See information about using NI-Spy here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/C31BC5FB34DBC0EF86256ADF007B8A47?opendocument
-What version and revision of the CAN driver is currently installed? You check this in Measurement and Automation by expanding the Software branch and clicking on NI-CAN.
    -If you can watch your
processes as you try to start Bus Monitor, does a process named nican_bm.exe ever start?
-Additionally, try starting bus monitor from the command prompt by running C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-CAN\bin\nican_bm with parameter CAN0 so your command is (without quotes): "nican_bm CAN0".
-If you have a 2 port card, have you successfully been able to run Obj2Obj? I'm curious if your CAN interface is working properly at all. From the NI-CAN\utilities directory, run obj2obj.exe with a correctly terminated cable connecting both ports of your CAN card.
Let me know the results of this if you are still having problems.
