Applications Developer Certification

I'm new to Oracle, though not new to programming (over 20 years experience). I'm very interested in the Applications Developer Certification (Forms developing) and would like any advice any of you have on pursuing it.
Basically, I need to learn the following, correct?
1. Oracle database fundamentals
2. PL/SQL
3. Using Forms Developer
Anything else?

Oracle announced the retirement the Oracle Certified Professional Application Developer track for Oracle Developer Release 2, effective July 31, 2002.
After July 31st, the 3 core exams will no longer be available:
Exam 1Z0-121 Developer/2000 Build Forms I
Exam 1Z0-122 Developer/2000 Build Forms II
Exam 1Z0-123 Developer/2000 Build Reports But will the Oracle Certified Professional Application Developer track for Oracle Developer Release 6 continue?
Thanks

  • Oracle Application Developer Certification books?

    Hello, Everyone,
I am preparing Oracle Application Developer Certification test now. Could anyone give me a hint where I can get a good book and other materials (such as sample questions) to help me to prepare the test? Many thanks.

Note there is more than one Oracle certification track for developers.
    These are documented at: http://www.oracle.com/education/certification/index.html?ocptracks.html
If you're interested in the Java track (since you posted your question in the JDeveloper forum), then select that one from the above site. Each track provides a downloadable "candidate guide" which details the recommended study sources, books, or courses.

  • Performance Tuning Certification for Application Developer

    Hi,
Can you please advise if there is any Oracle Performance Tuning certification for an Application Developer and Oracle 9i to 10G migration certification? If yes, can you please let me know its Oracle examination number?
I have already passed 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147 in Oct 2008.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandeep Kumar

... if there is any Oracle Performance Tuning certification for an Application Developer ...There is no performance tuning related certification for application developers. There is one for the DBA track.
Also -- to answer your question in the other thread:
So to clear this certification do I need to re-appear all the 3 exams as they were given in 2008 or just 1Z0-146 is enough.Having passed 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147, if you pass 1Z0-046, you will gain the certification: Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional

do i need oca 9i certification for getting 11g database certification for application developer not for DBA

[http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] is authorative. Well usually.
The problems start when people are imprecise about the certification they are seeking ... the list is here ....
If you notice there is no mention of '11g oca' or '9i oca' in the list.
    There is mention of:
    - Oracle 11g DBA OCA
    - Oracle9i DBA OCA
    - Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA
And one can drill down links to see the requirements for these certifcations:
for example for a - Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA a pass in one of (1z0-007 or 1z0-047 or 1z0-051 (or 1z0-001) ) plus a pass in one of (1z0-144 or 1z0-147) is required.
    There is a post from mediaguy (that goes to a blog that is currently unavailable at the time of this post ... but will proably be fixed in a day or two) that I feel has a chance of being relevant also (note i have not read it yet). {thread:id=1049842}

Development Consultant SAP NetWeaver´04 - Web Application Development Focus JAVA course.
From where i can get complete course content list and also material to prepare for certification?
May i get any e-learnings for the same?
    Regards,

    Bhabik,
actually SAP Education has some rules.. like if you dont want to attend the training, you need to provide experience certificate certifying 2 years of working exp in the product or something like that. The best place to know that is SAP Education. You can get the mailing link from sap.com --> services --> SAP Education. They can provide you exact details, rules, materials, cost i.e. each information.

  • Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Essentials

    Hi,
I am planning to give Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Essentials exam but I could not find any Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Essentials certified.
    1) Is this exam has a worth?
    2) What is the importance of this exam?
    3) Why the number of Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Essentials certified is less, even ADF is getting popular?
    4) Should I have Practical experience of Oracle ADF mean everything that is part of exam?
    Thanks and Regards
    Nasir

    Hi,
    +1) Is this exam has a worth?+
Its not an exam for the "ADF Essentials" edition but the essential ADF knowledge that is tested by this exam. Its the first part of a multipart certification
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-554&p_org_id=&lang=
+2) What is the importance of this exam?+
As said, its the first in a series
+3) Why the number of Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Essentials certified is less, even ADF is getting popular?+
Less to what? Note that you can run your business on ADF without being certified. However, as a partner or consultant certification certainly is seen as a proof of your skill set
+4) Should I have Practical experience of Oracle ADF mean everything that is part of exam?+
Well, luck may be on your side and you could guess some correct answers. However. practical experience certainly is the better guarantee to pass the test

  • Source for oracle 9i Forms developer certification

    Hi,
Someone told me that oracle 10g & 11 g are mainly for those interested in database administration. But, since i am interested in developers certification i want to go for oracle 9i forms developer certification ( I want to have knowledge about Forms, reports etc)
Can we learn it without any tutions ??
If yes, can you please specify websites or book names??
    Thanks & regards

    Hi,
Someone told me that oracle 10g & 11 g are mainly for those interested in database administration. Wrong.
I could write an essay, but some of my views are:
I am sure the Oracle would regard databases Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g as later versions of the Oracle Database that are generally upwards compatible with 9i but also with newer and better features.
Because there are significant(ish) adminstration differences in these database versions there is emphasis of these database administration certifications.
On the developer size yes PL/SQL has also improved, but the requirement for a newer certifiaction exam (at OCP level) was perhaps not quite so pressing:
This seems to be addressed version of the pl/sql exam, 1z0-144 (in beta), but from history even after 1z0-144 is fully released most forums vistors will go for 1z0-147 rather than 1z0-144 (see 1z0-007 versus 1z0-051 posts).
Also note that newer tools versions may not be closely coupled to newer database versions.
But, since i am interested in developers certification i want to go for oracle 9i forms developer certification ( I want to have knowledge about Forms, reports etc)
I suspect from a developers point of view oracle 9i forms developer is so similar to oracle 10g forms developer there is not much need/demand for a oracle 10g forms developer certification. (I would expect more emphasis to be put on producing an application express certifiaction anyway)
Can we learn it without any tutions ??
    Not impossible but hard.
Oracle Recommended course woudl be: [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getlppage?page_id=212&path=FMDT]
If yes, can you please specify websites or book names??
    - And courses:
    - Oracle have some self study CDROMs : [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getSearchResults?p_output_style=T&p_search_category_id=1278&p_search_format=2]
    - There may be some fair/good courses arround. In india I think, butt am not sure, sql_star are an authorised partner and give forms training. Beware of unauthorised training.
    - In terms of books
There are probably more bad forms books than good ones, and most are going out of print (consider second hand). Some sites like amazon have reviews.
    - Websites:
    - If you see or are given any websites at a miinimum check the URL through [http://www.certguard.com]
    - The one site I know of is [http://www.iselfschooling.com]. Its not got a RED at certguard, and its not got a full green either. Theres a few lessons you can get for free. For learning forms definitely no problems. If going straight for a certification then may be bad. But I believe its more training orientated than dump orientated and I believe their using original materials (if anyone knows different please let me know and certguard know and I'm have for this post to be edited or deleted).

  • Oracle Developer certification

    Hi All:
I am planning on taking Oracle Developer Certification .
Can anyone guide me on choosing between IZ 001 or Iz007.
Which one of the exams would help me for the next level of certification(Programming with Pl/SQL certification).
Also, are there are many certification specific books to select from(Sybex,Oracle Press).Which one of these is a better choice ??
    Thanks

Oracle Developer Exam Certification Guide from Oracle Press certainly needs update to cover web based forms. Most of it covers Forms Reports 5.0 , 6i only. Try
"Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder" - John Palinski. (It also comes with the Oracle 9i Forms CDs) in addition to the "OCP Building Internet Applications I & II Exam Guide" - 100% exam objectives coverage Guides.

  • Application Developement Runtime-Install (WLS 10.3 on SuseLinux ES 10.4)

    Hello,
my target is to deploy our FMW Applications in a production environment on an Standalone WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.3) on SuseLinux Enterprise Edition 10 Patch 4 (64 bit) under VM Ware using SSO against Active Directory in Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Our applications are already running without problems using SSO against the same Active Directories on the same WLS Server Version BUT on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Sp2 System for testing purposes.
On the SuseLinux ES 10.4 (64 bit) following generic installations have been done with Sun JDK 1.6.0_u25:
    (1) WebLogic 10.3.3 (java -d64 wls1033_generic.jar) -> successfully.
    (2) Application Development Runtime-Libraries (ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.jar followed by ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1): succeeded
BUT FAILURE on all prerequisite checks (Operating system certification, Recommended operation system packages, Kernel parameters, Recomended glibc version, Physical memory). I couldn't find any information about this till now.
So, here are my first questions to (1) and (2):
-> Are there any known problems and issues with WebLogic Server/APPDEV-Runtime Installations under SuseLinux ES 10.4 or others?
-> Has anybody else tried the Installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware APPDEV-Runtime on WLS 10.3.3 under SuseLinux Enterprise Server 10 Patch 4 (64 bit) and knows something about this failures?
    (3) I ignored the failure of the prerequisite checks of the OFM_APPDEV (the installations seem to be completed successfully) and went on with Domain- and SSO-Configuration (Production-Mode) and the Deployment of the FMW applications in the required SuseLinux Environment. The Deployment was successfull and we are able to run the applications by using FORM-BASED Authentication against the Active Directory, but we have now problems with SSO with Kerberos 5. I was able to configure the Active Directory Provider and the Identity Assertion Provider (for SPNEGO) in the Console/Myrealm and I configured the Domain for KRB5-JAAS-Configuration as I did it in the Test-Windows-Environment. It seems, that my krb5.conf is not picked up or read properly or the keytab-File isn't correct (ktpass, ktutil, kinit, klist,... was used and it looks ok, enctype is RC4-HMAC as it is for the wls-user-account in AD) or... For checking the keytab-File I used the utilities provided by the PowerBroker-Installation used by the customer to join the Linux-Machine to the Active Directory Domain.
I reviewed all points in the SSO-support-pattern on Oracle Support: WebLogic Server Support Pattern: Kerberos and SPNEGO Configuration Issues [ID 1332241.1].
I can't figure out, what the problem is. I can't see any mistake in the configuration.
    I'm asking now:
-> What's missing in the installation of the Standalone WLS Server/Application Development on SLES 10.4 what makes us fail with the SSO-Configuration?
-> Is there a workaround for the failures in the installations above?
-> Are there known bugs or issues concerning the krb5-configurations on SuseLinux ES 10.4?
-> Can the installation of PowerBroker/Likewise which is used by the customer cause the problem?
-> Can there be a problem with the used JDK (Sun JDK 1.6.0_u25 installed by our customer) concerning to com.sun.security.auth.module.Krb5LoginModule which is required for JAAS-Configuration?
Any ideas and answers are welcome!
    Thank you in advance, Anita

    Hello Justin,
    thank you for your reply!
I followed your Link and checked the certification matrix for SLES 10(SP4), the version of the OS we use.
Oracle WebLogic Server Version 11gR1 (10.3.1+) is certified for:
    OS Version: SLES 10 (SP4+)
    OS 32/64 bit: 64
    Oracle FM 32/64 bit: 64
    JDK 32/64 bit: 64
Oracle Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4+, Oracle 11.1.0.7+, Oracle 11.2.0.1+
The only doubt I have, is the Installation of the "Application Developement Runtime Libraries":
    (1) ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.jar
    (2) ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1.jar
    -> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html.
I supposed they fit the 64bit requirenment as well? Aren't they?

    Anita

  • INTERNET APPLICATION DEVELOPER - OCP

    Hi,
I am working towards a Oracle Application Developer Rel 2 and I understand that this exam is automatically upgraded to Oracle Internet Application Developer. I have completed the first 3 exams and I have 2 more to go to complete my certification.
My question is the Oracle Internet Application Developer's Build Internet Applications II Exam number 1ZO-132 contents seems the same as Oracle Application developer - Forms II exam. Is this true? If so can I just take the 1ZO-132 instead of taking 2 exams(Forms II and reports) for the Oracle application developer path.
    Comments will be highly appreciated.

The 3 exams left are the same on both of the tracks .
The name "Internet Application developer" is just only that ... a name.
I passed the 2 first exams when the name of the track was "OCP Application Developer".
The name was changed to "OCP Internet Application Developer" but no question in the rest of the exams refers to Forms Server or Reports Server or running an Form in the web, or any reference to any concept of the Developer Architecture for the Web.
THe rest of the 2 exams that you have to pass refers to Forms advanced 1 & Forms advanced2 and Graphics both in C/S enviroment .

  • Siebel 7.7 Analytics Applications Developer Exam

I am interested in getting certified in Siebel Analytics (Developer, Server etc). But i got trained by non-oracle institute. Is it possible for me to go for this exam?.
Since Oracle is stressing that everyone should undergo training through Oracle training institue. Is this rule still in force?
    Thanks

From the official page, you can see that 1Z0-620 is required to be able to pass the certification. "Analytics: Application Developer(Siebel 7.7)" and "Analytics: Advanced Application Developer(Siebel 7.7)" are recommended but not required to pass this exam (or the OBIEE/A equivalents). So theoretically you can go for the certification as soon as you've completed 1Z0-620.
    Cheers,
C.That's not how I've read the information on this page. It also states +"Due to the decreasing availability of the Siebel 7.7 Analytics courses, Oracle Certification will accept the Oracle BI courses toward Analytics certification. However, please remember that the Siebel 7.7 Analytics courses remain the best way to prepare for these exams and Oracle BI courses may not sufficiently help prepare candidates."+
This means to me, that you must have either followed the Siebel Analytics courses or at least one of the new Oracle BI courses (from Oracle University of course) to get certified.
