Applications don't remember full screen preference after quit
My iMac and MacBook Pro are running 10.9.4. I keep Mail, Safari, Messages, Reeder and iCal in full-screen mode at all times.When i close an application on my Mac that is in full screen mode, it remembers this and opens in full screen mode the next time I start it. This preference is constant even after rebooting my computer.
On my MacBook Pro, this isn't the case. If I close iCal and re-open it, it opens in windowed mode on my desktop despite being full-screen in its own space when I executed +Q (quit)
I've repaired permissions but have not performed a full reinstall of OS X yet. Every single application that I have chosen to be full screen starts in windowed mode on my MBP. On the iMac, this isn't an issue.
Any ideas?
HI David,
Unfortunately, with 3rd party software, it can be difficult to trouble shoot. Your best bet would be to check the Adobe forums and forums for other 3rd party software.
*"Is this normal now or is something not right with my system?"*
I don't think these issues stem from the Mac OS if that's any consolation.

I cant get my applications to open to full screen. The apps are opening up to about 75% and i cant get them to extend to full screen.
Which applications are you talking about?
Example: Browser application - At the bottom right corner of a browser window you will see a small square with 3 diagnal lines. Place your cursor in that corner to stretch out your window to full screen. The next time you open your browser app, the window will be full screen. -
Word docs don't open full screen on iBook
My brother, up in Maine, I'm in NY, has an iBook with Word X on it. (I don't know the version of OSX he has but he probably hasn't updated it since he bought it... I am not sure of the model of his iBook either. I can find out.) His main complaint is that Word documents don't open full-screen (once he drags the window to fill the screen) upon reopening or with new blank documents.
I am wondering if Word doesn't like certain screen resolutions. I don't know what he is using now but I have suggested he try some others. Does anyone know if Word docs won't act right under certain screen resolutions? Or if it is something else, what can we do so that docs open fully.
He bought the Mac thinking it was easier to use but this one thing has kept him from using it at all! He is using this for his business, a used book shop, and would use Word to list books. I hope to fix this so he can see the value of the Mac.
Cheers,
John
(who's been using Macs for years.)We really need to know which version of the OS he is using, and the iBook model would be good to know, too.
You may want to poke around on Microsoft's Mactopia and see if there are some hints for him there. -
What in the name of Goodness have you done with the full screen picture of Contacts? How dare you just change it without so much as a bye or leave? This is NOT progress but a throwback to about 1997! I supposedly 'updated' to an iPhone two weeks ago. Should have stayed with Samsung I reckon. I am deeply unimpressed!

Apps do not remember full screen mode
When I open a app, like Safari, and I go to full screen mode the app works great. When I'm done, I close the app and after a while I open it again. In my case it will open the app, but it will open in the "normal" mode, not the full screen mode. Anyone having troubles with this?
I don't have this problem. Try this:
Open System Preferences > General Settings > Make sure the "Close windows..." checkbox is unticked. -
Make application always launch in full screen mode?
Some apps such as Mail and iTunes will remember that they are set to full screen mode when the Mac is restarted and will relaunch exactly as I left them.
I have one third-party app (Linootype FontExplorer X Pro) which supports the full screen feature, but upon restart it will revert to a standard window rather than full screen and occupying its own space. The app's preferences don't seem to have any specific setting in them, but I was wondering if there is anything at the OS level I could try?
ThanksHello,
This setting is stored in the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder.

No full screen view after installing Yosemite
Another Yosemite issue - I'm running iPhoto 9.6 on recently downloaded Yosemite. Now I can't view a picture on full screen. The iPhoto help refers to a full screen button in top right hand corner although i have no such view and have to use main toolbar. All I see is a black background and the thumbnails below. I can even see the info and edit options but no picture. When i use the zoom option in bottom left of screen i see the navigation panel and a thumbprint of the picture i want to view.
Does anyone share my experience?
Davidbecause if you go to Help and the view and organise section and select the 'see photos in full screen' it refers to a button into top right (this i cannot see in my iPhoto)
This is out of date as of the release of Yosemite and iPhoto 9.6. To use iPhoto in full screen you click the free button.
Your problem seems to be that your photo doesn't show in the full screen format?
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -
I am creating an "electronic" panel that will be viewed at a convention. I am going to set my document properties to open at "full screen". I also want to set the transitions and the seconds each panel will appear on the screen and the background color (all settings in the preferences "full screen" section). Is there any way that these settings can travel with the file. When I set them, they default back to the preferences of the computer they are viewed on. Since these will be viewed on many monitors, I want to set them once so each computer does not have to be configured for the files. Any ideas? Thanks so much.
Yes with a document level JavaScript:
app.fs.backgroundColor = color.ltGray;
app.fs.clickAdvances = false; // do not allow click to advance
app.fs.cursor = cursor.delay; // hide cusor after delay
app.fs.escapeExits = false; // do not allow escape to exit full screen mode
app.fs.loop = true; // set to continuous loop at end of file
app.fs.defaultTransition = "WipeDown"; // set the default transition
app.fs.timeDelay = 5;// delay 5 seconds
app.fs.usePageTiming = true;// allow page override
app.fs.useTimer = true;// activate automatic page turning
app.fs.isFullScreen = true;// go into fullscreen

Full screen issue after upgrade to Snow Leopard
Can't seem to play back movie in full screen as before. Picture stays black from start or freezes if played within project (audio ok) View settings are the same - Video Playback>Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main.
Hi eaustria,
Double check DNS is correctly configured in Server Admin (SA). Also where in Workgroup Manager (WGM) are you trying to create wikis? In 10.5 (Leopard) server wikis were enabled in WGM. In 10.6 (Snow Leopard) server you enable wikis in the web service in SA or under wiki's in Server Preferences.
Let us know how you get on.

IPhone contacts won't display full screen picture after IOS 7.1 update.
How do I get pictures in Contacts to appear full screen when the phone rings instead of as a thumbnail?
Sorry, you can't, as it was a change made by Apple with iOS 7.1. There are no settings to change it.

Is anyone else dumbfounded that photos on iphone5 don't appear full screen?
Hi,
I've read a posting and a response that says the iphone5 photos don't fill the screen by design.
Am I alone in finding this unacceptable and totally bizarre? Surely we bought a bigger screen to use the additional real estate?
Paul.The camera takes 3264x2448 pictures (8 MP); 4:3 ratio. The iPhone 5 screen is 1136x640. A 4:3 on that screen can not be bigger than 853x640 without some of the picture being cut off, so it can't fill the screen.
To fill the screen with a picture that does not have the same ratio as the screen, part of the picture must be cut off or the picture must be stretched to fit.
If you want pictures the same shape as the screen, crop them in the Camera app. -
I got a larger monitor and flat screen (19 inch). Since changing I am not getting a full screen view of home page. I changed the page options to compact view and then back, but no change. I've got about 2 inches of white on each side of the home page view.
When going to a website the picture was small - tried changing the Zoom size , tried Zoom Reset - the text did change size but the layout distorts - found under View - Zoom - Zoom Text Only was checked --- Removed this check mark and the website returned to normal size and Zoom worked normally again. I am 99.9999% sure I did NOT check this myself and there is no one else on the computer to cause it. Maybe this will help.

Can't go back to a full-screen game after alt-tab switch
Hi,
A small problem suddenly appears.
I always could switch to desktop from games with Alt-Tab and go back in-game by clicking on the icons in the taskbar.
But since the last update, this make the game crash and I have to kill the process with powershell to relauch it.
Anyone have an idea of what's going wrong ?I'm also having this problem for full screen games. Hope they fix this soon, it's very aggravating.

Full Screen Player Crashes/Quits in Win Server 2003
I have an application that runs as a projector and is meant to run full screen in a kiosk. However, when the app is expanded to full screen it crashes and I get an error message of:
Faulting application test.exe, version 10.0.2.54, faulting module test.exe, version 10.0.2.54, fault address 0x0015187e. Event ID: 1000
If I run it in a web browser and try to go full screen the same thing happens. I've been all over the web and haven't found anything. Have uninstalled virus software thinking it might be a problem. Does anyone have any ideas?Sounds like it could be a bad video driver? Have you tried to see if there's an updated video driver for that system?
