Applications Extracted to BW

Dear SAP Experts,
This is my first question on SDN. I am posting a question, which might be very simple in some term, but im very much interested to know the answer.
What are all the application ( Such as SD, PP, MM Etc.) which would be needed to be extracted from R/3 or ECC6 to BW? I want to know if multiple applications would be needed to be extracted, then on what basis would the decision be made? is it on the nature of the company or the Business of the company? Suppose a company is into beverages then what are all the applications that wd be needed?
Thanks a Lot!

Hi,
It is based on client requirement
which are the functionla ares are implemented in ECC based on that which are the reports and which are cubes to be installed based on that dependen data sources to be activated
when ur activating that particular data sources those application component areas will be replicated along with the data sources.
for example: in your client station if FI module is implemented
the we will discuss with our FI functional consulatant and based on the reqiurement of reports and we will finalaise those reports are available on which cubes and those ubes data filling form which data sources , the sam e data data sources will be activated
like that for each module and for master data also.
thanks & Regards,

Ok, sorry for all the questions in advance, but just trying to narrow this down. Are you able to extract other items from the web, i.e. rules, security, member lists, etc.?

  • FDM - Scripting for exporting application

    Hi
Can you please advise if it is possible to write a script to automate the FDM export (Application export, this would be for the locations, users, maps etc...)
    Regards
    Edited by: user12990175 on 2010/07/05 11:59 PM

I have not seen any scripts be used to automate this process. Keep in mind that an application extract can only be loaded into a fresh FDM application, it cannot be used to merge metadata between two FDM applications. I don't really see much of a purpose to automate this process, it is something that normally should be done manually.

  • App started by ProcessBuilder can't find extracted native libraries

    Hi all,
I have a strange issue with my application.
    This is what I want:
1: My Java bootloader (main class that starts another application with ProcessBuilder) search on the classpath for config files containing startup properties. The bootloader sets environment variables and vm properties like LD_LIBRARY_PATH and the -Xmx and starts the real application.
2: The application extracts native libraries based on OS and Archtype to a temp folder based on a timestamp (LD_LIBRARY_PATH refers to that temp folder). The native libraries are packed in jar files, that are placed on the classpath.
3: The application loads the native libraries. In my scenario there are 3 native libs. 1 of the files have a dependency to the other 2. (loadlibrary of the one use the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to locate the other 2 on Linux)
This is working correctly at Windows and also on Linux when I did NOT use the ProcessBuilder but start the process directly (and set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH before starting the application).
Under Linux (with using my Java bootloader) I have the problem that my application [ System.load(...) ] throws an exception that the related libraries can't be found when loading the library. But when I hardcode/reuse my temp folder, so that the files are already available when starting the bootloader, the loading will succeed. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH always reference to the correct path of the native libraries.
I don't understand what is wrong? Any ideas?

My console dumps (with some added comments). The environment variables seems to be set correctly.

  • How to use CrossReference and DVM in ODI &how to populate data into Xref

Can any one tell how to use Domain Value Maps and Cross Referencing in ODI?
DVM or Domain Value Map are created and used in ESB console of SOA suite.
My actual requirement is as follows:
The below steps describe loading data from ERP Application 1 to ERP Application 2.
    1. The Source Application ERP APP1, populates the interface table using their native technology.
    2. A job scheduler invokes the Source side ODI Package.
    3. ODI then extracts the data from Source Interface table and populates the Target Interface table.
    4. After populating the Target interface table the ODI populates the X-ref table with App 1 ID and generated common ID.
    5. The ODI either deletes or updates the rows that were processed from the Source interface table.
    6. On the Target Application ERP APP2, the native application extracts data from target interface table and populates target database there by generating ERP Application 2 ID.
    7. A job scheduler on the Target application invokes the ODI package to populate the Application 2 ID onto the Xref table matching on the Common ID.
I just want to know :
    1. How to populate data into the Xref table from Source datastore
    2. And if data is successfully laoded from target datastore to actual base table of target then how to populate the target id into the cross reference table.

can anyone suggest me some answer, then it would be of great help?

  • How to install the Sample Apps in Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.2?

    Hi,
Could please anybody tell me how to install the Sample Applications in Hyperion Financial Management 11.1.2.2?
The following is written in the Administration guide:
If you did not install the sample files, you can obtain them by reinstalling Financial Management
and selecting the Sample Applications component.
I cannot find the “Sample Applications component” among components during installation process.
There are only “Financial Management ADM driver”, “Financial Management Web Application” and “Financial Management: services”.
    Hope this helps,
    Thank you,
    Vadim

After you install the sample application, all of the application extracts can be found under the below location.

  • Problem with Reader 9.3

Reader 9.3 does not respond or responds very slowly. I tried updating it - no change. I tried downloading it and I get the following message. Error 1316 network error occurred while attempting to read from file C:/users\chuck\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader9.3\Setupfiles\AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi
I can use reader to open stuff saved on my computer, but it responds slowly or sometimes not at all.

    I have the same problem.
The problem seems to be that the install application does not extract the file it is trying to read.
During the install, a directory "Setup Files" is created, i.e.:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files
Then the install application extracts installation setup files in this directory. Unfortunately, the file "AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi" is not one of them. So later in the install process; when it looks for the file, it gives "Error 1316" because it can't find it.
However, the problem seems to be that the file never was there in the first place.
I have tried this several times now, and opened a file manager (windows explorer) to view this (temporary) directory.
The only files I see there are:
    File name
    File size
    abcpy.ini
    2 kb
    AcroRead.msi
    3,880 kb
    Data1.cab
    107,103 kb
    Setup.exe
    338 kb
    setup.ini
    1 kb
If you cancel the install (give-up) after error; then this directory folder and all the above files are erased.
This is clearly an issue with the install program: "AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe" ... which probably should be renamed, because the (second) setup dialog box is clearly titled "Adobe Reader 9.3.2 - Setup" (not, 9.3.0).  In spite of this, the properties for the install file say version is 2.0.0.41.  Seems a bit confusing.
Anyway, the main issue is that it can't find the "AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi" file because it does not exist in the "Setup Files" directory because, presumably, the installer was unable to extract it in the first place.
The "Error 1316" appears after the "Validating install" phase of installation and during the "Publishing product information" phase when the green progress bar appears to be at 100%.  Frustrating, so close, but yet so far away from success.
Oh, and don't run the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility" ... this is (was) to resolve problems with Microsoft Office installations, but even there Microsoft has retracted this since it is found to actually cause damage to Microsoft Office.  See:
    [Wikipedia] Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
[Microsoft] How do I uninstall Office, if I cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?
Hope somebody out there can fix this issue.  With luck, someone on the development team is watching this thread...

  • HTTP sender adapter's response

    Hi All,
I have configured a HTTP to Proxy Scenario, in which when a SMS is received by CAD application, the application extracts data from SMS and convert it into url and hit XI server using POST method.
When CAD team tries to hit XI server using the url, it is getting blank screen and the Acknowledgement sent back to user as SMS which is also blank.
Since this application is not able to send payload to XI server, we have used a ABAP module to convert plain text paramaters to XML payload following the link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/13639. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
Now Our requirment is that when CAD receives SMS as a request which is then sent to XI, a SMS should be sent back to user as Acknowlegment and not a blank SMS.
How can we configure response scenario for this.
    Regards,
    Sachi

    Hi Amair,
As Bhavesh suggested i also dont see a way you can do this unless by making the interface Synchronous. If you do so then it becomes so simple and u will not require any work arounds.

  • Unit test with Dynamic Value Query

    Hi,
I am planing a function which should return a table name for a given ROWID. The ROWID will be selected from a view. Now I am trying to setup a unit test which consists of Startup and Teardown Process as well as a Dynamic Value Query. During Startup Process one dataset is inserted in a table which is part of a view definition. The dataset should be selected during Dynamic Value Query. However I am getting the following error message: Unable to run the test because no rows were returned by the dynamic query. Is there the possibility that within a Dynamic Value Query I can't make use of datasets which where inserted by a Startup Process? I am asking because the selection outside the unit testing framework supplies the dataset as expected.
    SQL Developer: 3.2.20.09 Build MAIN-09.87
    Java: 1.6.0_45
    Regards.

Dynamic SQL is very tricky.  Since you can get the data outside your application extract and test the dynamic SQL as it is generated.  When working with dynamic SQL I find it useful to first generate the SQL text as a string and then if necessary store it in a table (CLOB type) for later reference.  Because of the uncertainty of obtaining bind variable values later I prefer to hard-code such values into dynamic SQL - possibly slightly less efficient for Oracle at run time but a lot easier to work with when debugging and tuning (again, apart from the built-in inefficiency of not using bind variables)  I usually find the overhead of the hard-coded values not too bad and the ability to know the data values at a glance useful.  I also find it useful to write dynamic SQL in such a way so that the resulting statement can be pasted in to any normal SQL tool (SQL*PLUS, SQL*Developer) and run without any editing.
There may be some quirk in the generated dynamic SQL preventing it from finding anything.
    Good luck.

  • Manage Portal data ?   best practice type thing

    Hello,
I am looking how best do set up a Portal System on Production, in particular a
good process to back-up and re-create an Portal systems.
I list some possibilities below. Does anyone know if this is how it is typically
done ? Does this cover all data which should be backed up / migrated ?
    thanks!
1- 'Entitlements' data. As far as I know, this is stored in the embedded LDAP.
    Can this be extracted ?
    2- DataSynch data.
    DataSynch web application.
    extract with ftp-like command
    upload as jar file
    3- Users and Groups.
Export to a dat file. (Suddenly I forget how to do this, though think I saw it
    somewhere).

Okey, and then using a RFC call from the webdynpro application to fetch data from the sap database?

Also, another reason I had was that if you choose not to filter by set of books/type then you must still include the default values set of books id 1 and type NONE in the list on the DAC parameters (this is a consequence of strange logic in the decode statements for the sql in the extract etl).
I would recomend you run the extract fact sql prior to running your execution plan to sanity check how many rows you expect to get. For example, to see how many journal lines, use informatica designer to view mapplet SDE_ORA11510_Adaptor.mplt_BC_ORA_GLXactsJournalsExtract.2.SQ_GL_JE_LINES.3 in mapping SDE_ORA11510_Adaptor.SDE_ORA_GLJournals then cut paste the SQL to run your favourite tool such as sqldeveloper. You will have to fill in the $$ variables yourself.

  • ODC - Created cabinets not appearing

    Hey
My original installation of ODC used a local Sql Express database, but I recently moved it over to use our corporate Oracle database environment via an ODBC. While this process was troublesome (had trouble getting the Oracle client to work) I eventually got around it and thought I was ok. However, then one one my cabinets (APCabinet_OFR) went missing. When I looked in the administration pane, I could see one (APCabinet_KFI) but not the other.
I recreated the cabinet and did a refresh, but it wasn't there again. I thought I had a db issue, so I check the ECFILECABINET table, and the missing cabinet was there. I did a restart of the app and the machine with no change in effect.
I switched back to the Sql Express database, and sure enough, both cabinets showed up. I created a new one and it showed up too.
    An ideas?
    Cheers,
    A

I am going to answer my own question as I have had some help from an SR.
Here's what I had to do to get it to work:
    - Download the 32 bit client (both these packages)
         - Instant Client Package - Basic: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and JDBC-OCI applications
         - Instant Client Package - ODBC: Additional libraries for enabling ODBC applications
    - Extract both to the same folder and run the odbc_install.exe
    - Download and Install the 32 bit ODAC
    - Create a TNSNames.ora file and set the env variable TNS_ADMIN
    - Open ODC and Configure a new "other" database connection

  • 10g vs 11g - Line issue

    Hi,
    The following validates on 10g:
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2002,2236,null,
    MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,4,1,1,2,2),
    MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(893934.159168674,532595.478458636,893934.083722943,532595.517409051,
    893934.056678331,532595.59789372,893934.136215532,532595.899994259,893934.309861756,532596.159682324,
    893934.391041542,532596.188103395,893934.476085038,532596.200968813,

    893934.953397516,532595.642595592,893934.934488834,532595.559820608,893934.863289249,532595.513562037,
    893934.68809226,532595.492094401,893934.512210824,532595.477242982,893934.335637136,532595.474522407,893934.15917366,532595.478457668))
On an 11g instance (that I do not have access to) I have been told it does NOT validate.
Would someone be kind enough to confirm the 11g failure?

As an update. After getting the news from Noel I had to go back and see what caused this malformation.
Here is the geometry that my application extracted from an Autodesk Map3d 2012 polyline object: (checked by hand and it represents the object exactly)
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2002,2236,null,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,4,3,1,2,2,29,2,1,31,2,2),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(893934.1591687,532595.4784586,893934.0837229,532595.5174091,893934.0566783,532595.5978937,893934.1362155,532595.8999943,893934.3098618,532596.1596823,893934.3910415,532596.1881034,893934.476085,532596.2009688,893934.561987,532596.1966283,893934.645592,532596.1764248,893934.8442075,532595.9352915,893934.9533975,532595.6425956,893934.9344888,532595.5598206,893934.8632892,532595.513562,893934.6880923,532595.4920944,893934.5122108,532595.477243,893934.5121236,532595.4772386,893934.3356371,532595.4745224,893934.1591737,532595.4784577))
Then doing validate_geometry_with_context produces this error: 13356 [Element <1>] [Coordinate <15>]
Ok ... got it ... not a problem at all for Map3d but bad for Oracle. I just do a rectify_geometry:
    select SDO_UTIL.RECTIFY_GEOMETRY(
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2002,2236,null,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,4,3,1,2,2,29,2,1,31,2,2),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(893934.1591687,532595.4784586,893934.0837229,532595.5174091,893934.0566783,532595.5978937,893934.1362155,532595.8999943,893934.3098618,532596.1596823,893934.3910415,532596.1881034,893934.476085,532596.2009688,893934.561987,532596.1966283,893934.645592,532596.1764248,893934.8442075,532595.9352915,893934.9533975,532595.6425956,893934.9344888,532595.5598206,893934.8632892,532595.513562,893934.6880923,532595.4920944,893934.5122108,532595.477243,893934.5121236,532595.4772386,893934.3356371,532595.4745224,893934.1591737,532595.4784577))
    , 0.0001) from dual;
.... which produced the evil non-standard result which is Ok for 10g but not 11g.
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2002,2236,null,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,4,1,1,2,2),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(893934.1591687,532595.4784586,893934.0837229,532595.5174091,893934.0566783,532595.5978937,893934.1362155,532595.8999943,893934.3098618,532596.1596823,893934.3910415,532596.1881034,893934.476085,532596.2009688,893934.561987,532596.1966283,893934.645592,532596.1764248,893934.8442075,532595.9352915,893934.9533975,532595.6425956,893934.9344888,532595.5598206,893934.8632892,532595.513562,893934.6880923,532595.4920944,893934.5122108,532595.477243,893934.3356371,532595.4745224,893934.1591737,532595.4784577))
Curiously, what will 11g do with:
    select SDO_UTIL.RECTIFY_GEOMETRY(
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2002,2236,null,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,4,3,1,2,2,29,2,1,31,2,2),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(893934.1591687,532595.4784586,893934.0837229,532595.5174091,893934.0566783,532595.5978937,893934.1362155,532595.8999943,893934.3098618,532596.1596823,893934.3910415,532596.1881034,893934.476085,532596.2009688,893934.561987,532596.1966283,893934.645592,532596.1764248,893934.8442075,532595.9352915,893934.9533975,532595.6425956,893934.9344888,532595.5598206,893934.8632892,532595.513562,893934.6880923,532595.4920944,893934.5122108,532595.477243,893934.5121236,532595.4772386,893934.3356371,532595.4745224,893934.1591737,532595.4784577))
