Applications Folder Lost 5800 XM

It appears I have deleted the Applications icon (and folder?). It contained, as well as other things, the File Manager icon. Any suggestions as to how I can get it all back?

At other sections of Discussion I discovered the code for a HARD Full Factory Reset.
Refer: /discussions/board/message?board.id=hardware&thread.id=12171
Press and hold GREEN + RED + CAMERA when powering up.
Keep the keys pressed until you get the shaking hands. That should fully reset the device, with a lock code of 12345.
This is only available on phones with 20.0.012 or later.

  • I Lost My Application Folder and I Can't Get It Back With It's Previous Features

I lost my application folder!! I have tried dragging it from my hard drive but all I have left over is my skype. when i was trying to change the size of my screen's window i accidently picked up the applications folder and when i let go of my mouse it disappeared and now I cant get it back with everything in it. (front row, screen grab, etc)

First of all don't empty the Trash.
Second, it is unlikely the folder is gone, you just dragged it someplace else. Here is one easy way to find it:
Go to Spotlight and type in the name of one of the programs that you had in that folder. Click on the program when it finds it. When the program launches, click and hold its icon in the Dock until you get the pop up menu. Choose "options > show in Finder".
That will open the enclosing folder and select the program. While you are there drag the folder back to where you want it.

  • I've lost the application folder from Favorites. How do I get it back?

I've somehow lost the application folder which should be located in Finder - left hand side under Favorites. I can do a search and find a specific application located on the hard drive - so I haven't deleted them.  But I want the Application folder with the different applications back in Finder.  I'm kind of hesitant about starting a search in areas I know nothing about.  Can anyone help?

    Hi JanMP,
The sidebar in a Finder window can be easily modified, so it's possible that the Applications folder may have been accidentally dragged out of it. You should be able to drag it back on from its current location (Macintosh HD > Applications), as outlined in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: Customize the Finder toolbar and sidebar

  • I've lost my applications folder from the dock

I've lost my applications folder. I think I picked it up by accident and put it in the trash. But was unable to recover it. I've tried taking the applicaions folder from finder and that works to the point that it puts a shortcut on the desktop. But I want my applications folder returned to it's former glory with the A on it and in the dock. Help

You should update your profile to indicate what version of Mac OS X you are currently running.
And this is an OS question, not an iMac question.
Have you tried dragging the Applications folder to the Dock?  It has to be dragged to the right side of the dividing line between individual applications on the left and folders/trash on the right.

  • Have two users one is a test one is mine all the sudden mine lost the applications folder and now when i open my user it opens but wont respond to anything and i have to power it down and restart any clues

I have two users one is mine, one is a test i set up with apple care. Everything was working fine then i lost my applications folder icon on my user. I have been using the Finder to open applications, now when i open my user the mouse travels but i'm not able to get a respond from anything ,it's almost like its frozen. I have power off and restart and use the test user. Anyone have a clue or any ideas?

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

  • I have lost my mail application on the dock and in the application folder. Is a download available for osx 10.6?

I have lost my mail application on the dock and in the application folder. Is a download available for osx 10.6?

Possibly installing the big 10.5.8 Combo will bring it back, but first...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    1058 Combo Update, 10.5.8...
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
    Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.

  • Lost Applications folder

I opened Roxio to copy a DVD and now find that as soon as I open finder all I get is the Roxio various programs.  If I go into preferences and ask for the applications folder to appear in finder it doesn't.    Applications folder has never been in the dock just on the side bar but no longer.  Any help please.
    Mac 2.7 with Mavericks

In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A. Does the folder open?

  • Lost my applications folder

I'm running Yosemite, version 10.10.1, on a 13" MacBook.  I had a Finder window open and inadvertently dragged the icon for my Applications folder from the left pane.  The icon vanished in a puff in a way similar to what happens when I drag an icon from the Dock.  I know the contents of the Applications folder are still somewhere and I can find and launch applications by using Spotlight but I can't seem to find the folder anywhere.  I've rebooted the machine, hoping that would restore it but no such luck.  Can anybody suggest a way to find and restore the Applications folder to its original spot?  Thanks in advance for any time and thought you bring to this.

    Right click (or ctrl-click) on the item and select 'folder' from the 'view as' menu;
Folders go to the right of the dividing line, or below it if the dock's at the side.

It turns out that the problem had to do with network accounts, even though it was not clear at first.  Redirecting the program to the local machine's cache with a network home redirector script fixed the issue.  Thanks anyway.

  • Firefox won't install on my Mac, it just finishes the installation then does not appear in my Applications folder.

Firefox offered to create a new profile for me, but took forever to do so so eventually I had to shut off the computer. In restarting, initially Firefox would not open as "Profile could not be found". Having moved Firefox to my trash folder, when I attempt to install Firefox again, it completes the download, then does not appear in my Applications folder.

This is likely caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 in this file is not present on the hard drive.
    *Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
You can use one of these to make Firefox create/use a new default profile:
*Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
*Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
*Use "Choose Folder" when you create a new profile to select the location of a lost profile and recover this profile

    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Download and save the full Firefox installer to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox 29.0.1 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

  • How To Copy User Folder/Application Folder To Fresh Drive

I have a friend's iMac G5 whose hard drive went south. Fortunately I was able to copy its contents onto an external firewire drive before it totally lost its data. I installed a new hard drive in the iMac and put on a fresh copy of Leopard and iLife '80 - using my friend's same name for the user folder. Migration Assistant won't see the folder as it is on a connected but not bootable drive. So I need to manually drag over her data but I am concerned about just how to do this in a way that won't put me (and her) in "permissions agony." What's the best way to do this? Her system was running Tiger 10.4.11.
Plus the same is the case for her old applications folder. How can I get all that including the files that go into various libraries. Migration assistant would be so wonderful as it handles all that stuff...any help with this part also?
    Thanks in advance.

I was able to have a fairly successful conclusion to my dilemma. I had copied her information using Retrospect's Duplicate function and all her data was copied onto a firewire drive. This was done as her drive was going south before it totally deteriorated. I made a new administrative user with a slightly different user name (adding a 1 to her name) and copied all the user folder data over. Then I deleted the original user (and the 1 on her new user name) and was left with all her stuff in good shape with no permission problems that couldn't be taken care of with Disk Utility. Of course the Applications folder was one I didn't bother with because of how so many applications install things all over the place, preferences, application support folders, etc.; but, after a reinstall of most of her applications, things to seem to be working quite well. A few of her applications that I had no install for, I copied over successfully from her old application folder itself. Not bad.
I bought a Time Capsule for her use and am backing up that way for her...as well doing a Super Duper incremental back also onto the Time Capsule.
    Thanks for your help.
