Applications freeze until window is moved

I've been having an ongoing problem with my system. Safari, as well as other applications keep freezing, and the only way to unfreeze them is to grab the open application window at the top of the screen and move the window. Though it happens with other apps, Safari is what I use most, and it happens every 10 seconds to 1 minute. As an example, I can type a web address or search term in the address bar and hit enter, and nothing will happen until I move the window and then it will load. Or scrolling will stop working on a page until I move the window, or I can click a link, but it won't launch until I move the window.
I run multiple accounts on the mac, and each has the same issues. I've repaired permissions, have installed Saphos and run virus searches (nothing found), have removed Safari extensions, have unplugged peripherals, have viewed activity monitor seeing nothing of significance, and have reindexed Spotlight. This has been done to most of the individual accounts as well. Running Safari on the guest account works fine.
Another non-Safari example is changing user accounts. After selecting an account to login to it often freezes before I can enter my password and I get a beach ball that doesn't spin. I have to press the power button for a second to force it to sleep, and then wake it up to try to enter a password in time.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

When I start the episode player, it will begin playing an episode, but at some point - usually within the first 15-30 seconds - the video will freeze. The audio will stop a few seconds after that. This state continues until I do one of the following:
- Move the browser window
- Open a menu from the menu bar
- Move my mouse over the dock
- Switch to a different application
- Use my Apple Remote to turn the volume up/or down (triggering the volume overlay)
At that point, the video will start playing again for some time (10-30 seconds) and stop again.
This is true whether I am in window mode, or fullscreen mode, whether I watch the standard or HD version, or whether I am in Safari (3.2.1) or Firefox (3.0.5).
I don't have any problems playing from YouTube or Hulu on the Mac mini. And I have no problems playing the episode from the ABC site on my Macbook, using the same internet connection.

Client application freezes permanently when one user logoff and another user take that session on windows server 2008 r2

Hi,
we have windows server 2008 r2 and In our application there are three server and on e client application.
My client application freezes on a specific scenario.
Steps taken to hang are following:-
1. start client application
2. open an module named by XYZ
3. login to remote machine with another session./ Another user login from their computer.
4. connect with the session which have client application opened.
5. Whenever the session is forcibly taken client application becomes unresponsive.

Windows: Intermittent Flash Pro CC Application Freeze while closing documents

If you notice any intermittent application Freeze of Flash Pro CC while closing the FLA documents, please apply the hotfix provided by Microsoft in the below link:

Basic behavior - compile vs. save, application freezes and other questions

I've just recently moved from MS SQL to Oracle and found Oracle SQL Developer the only more or less working application to access the database and write scripts. Still, there are some issues which are beyond me in this application. So what I'd need to know:
1) When I open a package and edit it, what is the difference between hitting CTRL+S (save) and Compile? I just need to change the code, not run the damn script. Run and Debug I suppose would execute the whole package.
2) When I save a package, why does the application freeze? I have no idea what it is doing, but when I kill it the code is not changed.
3) When I connect to packages of a different user why cannot it export the ddl / source code of the whole package?
4) When I am inactive for some time, is there some normal way to reconnect to the connection other than disconnect + connect, which closes all windows I have open on the connection?
5) Why does drag + drop a table name to SQL worksheet sometimes offer me to create a script and sometimes ignores me completely?
6) Is there any way to convince the popups with table/column names to work also with variables and/or to show also data types of columns? Incidentally, is there a way to make it work all the time and not just during favorable moon phases?

IStream:Read with WaitForSingleObject leads to an application freeze

My application uses a mixture of C++ native code and Java code.
The Java code is responsible for requesting data from a filestream and forwarding it to the C++ code, where it is written into the IStream implementation. The IStream-object is added to my Ole-Clipboard implementation.
After pasting a file, IStream:Read is called some x times until there are no more bytes to read (currently, since the data requests are rather slow). If that happens, my implementation for IStream:Read calls WaitForSingleObject(some eventhandle that was
passed during construction,INFINTE). Theoretically, the part of my code that writes data to the IStream-Object issues a SetEvent for the same eventhandle whenever new data is written to the stream.
Practically, my Application and the Windows Explorer freeze when this point in execution is reached, because the Read and Write calls are handled in the same thread.
I am not really sure why, since I call IStream:Write from a thread that has nothing to do with the IStream-Object (other than having a reference to it).
What can I do to fix my problem?

Thanks for your reply, yes I am using JNI to start a thread that handles my window-proc messages and where the Ole-library is initialized.
Java notifies this thread through a JNI-method of available data, the thread creates an IDataObject and puts it in the Ole-Clipboard.
The first time an IDataObject->GetData() request for the Filecontents format is made, the thread requests data from Java and starts writing it into an IStream-object (IStream:Write).
At some point (after the user decided to paste somewhere), the IStream:Read calls issued by the pasting program (probably explorer most of the time) reach a point where currently no data is available. My implementation of IStream:Read calls WaitForSingleObject()
in that case. Every subsequent call to IStream:Write fails because it would be executed on the same thread as IStream:Read and frankly I have no idea why and hoped somebody here could help me.

I have no idea why IStream:Read and Write run on the same thread and am absolutely clueless on what I can do to fix this.

How to create an application with a 'Windows' like interface?

I am trying to create an application with an windows like interface where menu selections need to open bound taskflows in a page/window but i can not get it to work. I did the following
- i created a page template with a panelStretchLayout
- added a menuBar with commandMenuItems
- created a start page based on the template
- created bound taskflows with page fragments for all menu items
- placed a dynamic region on the start page which initially shows a taskflow with an empty/blank page fragment
- change the dynamic region taskflow from every menuitem and added partial triggers on the dynamic region for every menu item
When i run the application the first empty page fragment is showed correctly but when i select a menu item the correct new page fragment is showed but it keeps showing a loading data .... hint and seems to freeze. So no data is showed while the underlying datacontrols work while using the bc tester.
Besides this problem i am wondering if i at all am going the right way with this with using a dynamic region? In the final application i will have a total of about 25 menu items over several menus and if they all will be showing in one main dynamic region with partial triggers set to all menu items it may get a bit complex? I saw you can also create a window in a popup which i like even more because it looks like an actual window but this is modal. I would like a bound taskflow to be opened whenever a menu selection is made.
Any pointers or tips or the solution to not showing data?

If have not encountered that problem. Are you sure you have a taskflow entry under the executables tag in the page definition of the page which has the dynamic region on it? I have one like this:

How can one resize a inDesign Document Window without moving Document's position?

I've searched high and low for an answer to this habit that inDesign has. Am I the only one that finds this annoying?
You go to adjust the size of your document window to move it out of the way to get to something else on your desktop, and instead of keeping the document in place and just resizing the window, it moves the document with the resize. Not sure if I'm putting this in a way that people can understand me. Say I have two inDesign files open side by side and I zoom in on an area and adjust my view of the page. Then I go to the other inDesign document and adjust the view by grabbing the bottom right hand corner of the window and moving it to where I want it. The whole document then moves with it! I desire it not to, so now I have to waste time by using the hand tool to move it back into place. Illustrator doesn't act like this. Photoshop doesn't act like this. Only inDesign. Does this harken back to the PageMaker days? Am I missing a preference somewhere I need to change? Or is it just the way of things and I'm stuck with it?

Excel 2010 Dialog Boxes Hidden behind Application causing application freezing

Recently upgraded to Office 2010 (32bit) /Windows 7. Have hundreds of users that we support and so far most have upgraded. Noticed with some users though - not all - just a small percentage, when they click SaveAs in Excel 2010, the application
freezes. On closer scrutiny we realized what was happening was the SaveAs dialog box was BEHIND the main Excel window. The only way to restore it is to click on the tab from the Taskbar or minimize all the windows to FIND the SaveAs Dialog box.
Understandably this is causing these users stress and inconvenience. It is very unproductive and a nuisance to say the least. The only other variable here is that all these users have multiple monitors, usually 2-4. But for some, this happens
in their main monitor and/or the monitor that Excel is opened in and which has the focus. Even more strange is that this does not occur to everyone, just a handful of users so far who have reported the issue. We have also noted it happens
with other dialog boxes as well, not just the SaveAs so it seems generic in that sense.
The other item with this issue is that it's not persistent. Users have reported it's sporadic and comes and goes.
Is this a bug?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

X: freeze until keypress/mousemove

Hello,
I just reinstalled arch on my notbook(amilo l7320gw). I had it running there about one year ago without any bigger problems. But after reinstalling i ran into massive trouble: when starting X the whole system freezes until i press a key or move the mouse. when i open a terminal window and enter an "a" for example, it wont appear until i press another key. when i press return, the command wont get executed until I press an other key or move the mouse. When I exit X the problem continues. Even if I halt the system, I need to constantly press keys to keep the halt process going on(e.g. it says "Power down" but it wont power down until I press a key). Its quite strange. This doesnt happen until I start X.
I reinstalled the whole xorg packet and deletet all config files - no change. Changed my graphics driver to vesa - no change. Dropped lxde and used this thing that comes with X.. no change again. I don't know what to do. Hope someone can help me or I have to say goodbye to arch

oh and the problem also continues for example while executing dhcpcd or whatever.. always to have pressing a key around hundred times...
firefox runs fine without causing any trouble. so does leafpad. but beep for example beeps forever...

I deployed an application and it works fine.. but
once running and I click on a button Execute (does the work) the application freezes up until it finishes and then return to its normal screen

Java Application freeze! Help needed

I have en application that recive a corba calls from one server and translate it to HTTP calls and call to diffrent server (about 50 calles per second)
Now every thing is working for 5-6 hours, and then the application freeze for 5 minuts and then start to work again like nothing had heppend, after 2-3 hours again the application freeze for 5 minuts and so on and so on
Any idea?

Try taking a thread dump.
This should show you what the application is doing.
On UNIX this is kill -QUIT {process}
I don't know how to do this on Windows.

This solved my question This helped me
Try closing the Pages app completely and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Pages app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Pages app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
This did work
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent
This worked but very time consuming.
I use Pages four to five hours most days, it is great for the kind of writing I do, with a lot of pictures. sometime as many as one hundred pictures in a an article of several pages. But it is very frustrating, as it tends to be unstable.
