Applications freezing/error reports not sending

I've had my Macbook for a over a year and probably 8 months into owning it, downloaded applications started freezing for no reason. For example - Skype and the Last.fm scrobbler... it happens every so often with Firefox also. I can open and use them but eventually they freeze anywhere from a minute to a couple hours later. Skype is famous for freezing on-screen (when it says "so and so is typing..." in the upper right corner), forcing me to restart the computer completely to be able to reopen the application. What's even worse is when I force quit the error report won't send. I've tried completely removing them and reinstalling but that doesn't work. I don't have Norton or any sort of anti-virus program, and pre-installed applications (iChat/tunes/etc) don't freeze.
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere, I haven't been able to find any help.

HI,
Check for available disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk
If disk space is not a problem, then try booting from your install disk and check the startup disk for errors.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart

  • Libmtp error: could not send object info

I have an HTC One m8, and a laptop running Arch Linux. I installed gvfs-mtp, and my computer detects my phone and the files inside of it. I use the GNOME desktop environment, and it's default file manager.
If I try to transfer files to my phone, I get an error reading:
There was an error copying the file into mtp://[usb:003,005]/SD%20card.
"libmtp error: could not send object info".
I am not sure how to fix this. i tried reinstalling libmtp and gvfs to no avail.
I want to be able to connect my phone to my computer, and transfer files through my file manager. Any help would be appreciated..
Here's some output that may be relevant:

  • Java Application in ERROR State not stopable - how to remove?

    Hi,
I have created a Java Application and published to the HCP Trial. After successful testing I stopped and uninstalled the App and the respective assets (e.g. database Schema) Nevertheless this process was interrupted by the shutdown of the landscape for maintenance 2 days ago. Now the App is visible again in the Cockpit with state "Application Error" - when I try to stop it nothing is happening. If I want to go to the details screen of that application it also does not come up and still shows the table of all the applications.
As you can only have one started Java Application in the Trial - I am really keen on getting to know how to stop that application to be able to go on with other tests.
Any Guides - or any possibility to stop/delete the application?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arne

Hi, here are the screenshots of settings and error:
(If I change the application name here without changing any other settings I am able to successfully create a new application on the server)

  • Why does opening some links in Firefox causes a "Server Error in '/' Application Runtime Error" but not in "Internet Explorer"?

When I click on some links in an email (and Firefox is the default browser) I get the following error:
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
If, however, I click the same links (and Internet Explorer is the default browser) I do not get any error and the proper content of the link is displayed.
What is causing this error? As I prefer Firefox, how can this problem be fixed?
OS Windows 7, Service Pack 1
    Firefox Version 32.0.1
    Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17280
    Thank you for your assistance.

When you look at the address in the address bar, does it seem to match up with the email?
Sounds like Firefox sent the server something it wasn't expecting. Sometimes this can be caused by obsolete or corrupted cookies -- assuming you have visited the site before. It also might be caused by modifications to standard information sent to servers such as the "user agent" string that specifies your browser version and OS.
To clear a site's cookies, while viewing a page on the site, either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • BBM Error, messages not sending - please please please help

    Hi
My friend has a Q10 and I recently got a Z30. Initially there were no problems in using BBM, but lately my friend has been unable to send BBM messages to me - we're tried deleting each other's contacts and re-adding them, but it's resulted in her being able to see my messages but not able to reply them (they have a red cross).
However, she is able to reply and chat with other friends over BBM as normal.
    Could anybody please advise?
    Thanks!

  • Application Switcher Errors Reported in Console

    Greetings, folks!
When the cmd-tab keys are pressed, Console immediately reports a string of Dock errors. No other errors are reported after the initial press, regardless of subsequent input (h, q, tab, tilde).
Removing the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and logging out/in made no difference. Thoughts? Thanks!!

Haven't seen that one before but I asked around and one of my JRockit colleagues said it was probably the JIT compiler not being able to allocate memory. I would guess that something is either leaking native memory, or you are generating a lot of new classes. A JVM upgrade might help since later versions have the capability to GC unused compiled code. It is also possible that you need to decrease the Java heap size (to leave more room for native code).
Try one or more of the folllowing:
    1) Upgrade to a later version of JRockit (R27.1 or later)
    2) Decrease the Java heap size
    3) If neither works, start tracking native memory usage through the command
    jrcmd <pid> print_memusage
and see if you can see a trend somewhere. If you suspect a native memory leak, you probably want to open a ticket with BEA Support.
    Cheers,
    Henrik

  • ITunes syncing error reports not enough free space

Having an issue with syncing the iPad where iTunes reports that there is not enough free space to transfer the selected data. In this case it was an app(The Elements) which is 1.78 GB. The iPad has 3.8 GB free space, yet the app cannot be transfered because there is "Insufficient space". I used to see the same problem with my iPhone when attempting to sync back the photos i just copied off the camera app. There is definately free space, but iTunes seems to see something different than what is reported.
BTW. I could not sync the app to the iPad using iTunes, but there was enough free space to directly download the app on the iPad. Seems like a problem with iTunes to me.
Is iTunes and the iPad reporting an incorrect amount of free space? Can iTunes be forced to transfer apps without checking for the amount of free space? Any other ideas?

It seems like double the size of the app is needed to install it on the device.

Which file is it refer to ?
Where is the propert file to set this?

    Hello,
It looks like at one time or another, you tried setting up the Flash Access Reference Implementation License Server.  Part of that package is a packaging server (which interfaces with a Graphical UI to package content).  The error you're seeing below suggests something from the Reference Implementation is left behind.
    I suggest doing the following:
    1. Shut down your Flash Access license server
    2. Remove the following from your <tomcat installation directory>/webapps
         2a. (file) flashaccess-packager.war
         2b. (directory) flashaccess-packager
    3. Remove the directory <tomcat installation directory>/work/Catalina
    4. Remove the directory <tomcat installation directory>/conf/Catalina
    5. Start your server
Also - something to note is that your logfile seems to indicate only an issue was found with the packager deployment.  If there are no issues around the flashaccessserver, then your license server should still work, as those 2 different services (packager server & license server) are independent of each other.
    cheers,
    /Eric.

My Mac has been in the shop (Genius Bar) 4 times in the last several months for an array of problems. They've diagnosed and replaced a broken riser and diagnosed (and I replaced) a defective 2nd back-up internal drive. I've also moved my large library of fonts (I'm a designer) to an external drive and now use Font Book to very gradually add only the fonts I'm currently using. Yet there is still the lingering problem that periodically an application will freeze and refuse to force quit. Some other applicatons may still be working fine. I cannot reboot; if I try to restart from the menu bar it disappears and the whole system freezes. So I have to turn it off with the power button, wait a minute and then start up again. This happens several times a day, although I am at times able to work fiveours straight with no problems.
[I've repaired permissions and zapped PRAM countless times.]
I'm now convinced there must be a software problem/conflict. But how the **** do I figure out what that is?
Oh, and of course this is all happening when work is insanely busy. HELP, please.

Try plugging the iPod into a different USB port - does it continue to freeze iTunes?

  • ITune is not working, Send Error Report

before i updated to the newer 7.0.2 iTunes it used to work perfectly fine. Now after i installed it, quick time and iTunes seem to be having a problem. I click on Quick time and it says, Buffer Overrun detected.(then it says my file directory in program files). A buffer overrun has been detetced which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
Itunes starts up, this agree to liscense agreement pops(sometimes this does not even pop up) up. I check yes and then the iTunes library pops up for about 3-5 seconds. iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience. (Send error report, Dont send). How do i fix this?

the QuickTime problem will probably be causing your itunes problem. (itunes needs a properly functioning QuickTime in order to work correctly.)
let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • How can I fix the Microsoft Error Reporting?

I don't remember this problem occurring so often with OS X 10.5. Frequently (approximately 8 times out of 10), when I try to shut down the computer, I get the error message "The application Microsoft Error Reporting canceled shut down". This problem occurs with my MacBook (that I mostly use), but also with my iMac. A subsequent box says: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". I then usually click the button to send a report to Microsoft and shut down my computer. I have tried disk utility's repair permissions, but the problem still carries on.
I've ignored this for a while, because it just takes a couple of extra clicks to shut down. I also thought the next Microsoft update would solve it (I have version 12.2.5), but - no change. I hope it's not some kind of Microsoft virus...

Thank you for the link. The problem is solved now. Word cancelling shut down was caused by EndNote's "cite while you write" function. I've disabled it now and Word works fine.

  • LDAP - Could not send e-mail

    Hi guru
We used SAP MDM 5.5 SP 6 (64.92)
In workflow we use e-mail notification, when SAP MDM Server work without LDAP e-mail is sending.
When we load SAP MDM Server with LDAP, every time when we send e-mail we get error "Could not send e-mail "
Sender and Receiver Users and their e-mail adress is exist in LDAP and right.
Moreover, we test sending e-mail from Server(where installed SAP MDM) through telnet for the same users and same e-mail adress(which precent in LDAP) - all work OK.
    Question:
How we should configure SAP MDM Server for e-mail notification work correctly when it work through LDAP?
    Regards
    Kanstantsin Chernichenka

    Hi Vinay M.S
Thank you for your answer, but
Really, in our case mail server attribute was named as "mail" and it exist in mds.ini (but that is not standart name for all ADs)
My another question: Why e-mail notification doesn't work from workflow in LDAP for all users?
    Additiona information:
We have ~30000 users in AD but in MDM we used only ~500 from it.
For test we created 3 simple workflows with e-mail notification block:
1.Launcher set as user which name starting from symbol "B"
2.Launcher set as user which name starting from symbol "P"
    3.Launcher set as "Launcher"
We set as receiver the same user for all workflows.
In 1 case e-mail notification is OK
In 2 case e-mail notification isn't work and we got error "Could not send e-mail" in workflow report. but username and sender receiver e-mail is right
In 3 case  e-mail notification from user which we started workflow  is OK (and for user which name starting from symbol "P")
    Any ideas?
