Applications in category modeler

Dear experts,
So far, I haven't seen any restrictions when using the same category modeler schema for 2 different applications (such as case management and service order).
It just means that we use the same categories.
Do you know if it is allowed? Are you aware of any issues if we use the same schema for different applications?

HI Stephanie,
Once you design a Schema there is a categorisation Logic behind that and if you want the same Logic to be applicable in other documents also for eg : Service Ticket,Interaction record,compliant...etc you can assign them in the Categorization contexts.
The Schema is used to categorize a CAll so that we have a better idea about the further flow of the call .SAP has given the flexibility of either using the same schema for all docs OR customized schemas as desired for every doc.

We are currently implementing a Service Desk Application based on SAP Solution Manager. Therefore we are using the article "Implement an ITIL Employee Service Desk with IC WebClient" of "www.CRMExpertOnline".
One of the steps, which are described in the article describes how to Categorize incidents with the Category Modeler. It says that the Category Modeler is available trough BSP Application CRMM_ERM_CAT.
Unfortunately this SAP-Application is not available on our system.

The question is that CRMM_ERM_CAT is an application, also a transaction but this is not the name of the associated BSP I think, this belongs to component CRM-PCF more than Solution Manager.
I have seent some messages speakin about to call:

USAGE of Logical structure and authorization mode in CATEGORY MODELER

Hi,
I am trying to figure out the relevance and usage of the logical structure in the category modeler i.e. hierarchial or attributive. As per the description the hierarchial categorization should not allow duplictae categories but we are able to create more than one category with same codes i.e. duplicate categories. Please let me know the difference in the functionality of the two category - logical structures.
Secondly I also want to know what is the usage of the authorizatio mode i.e. either OR or AND.

Hi Andrez,
Welcome to SDN. This is the standard way LO Cockpit works. The data source will be able to extract the load only from setup tables and then the deltas are based on the init based on the setup tables. I have not tried this. I am sure that you can extract data from R/3 into other datawarehouse systems (other than BW).
Instead of this standard LO way of extraction, what I would do is to write an interface program (RFC FM or BAPI) from R/3 which would read the data directly from the database tables and put them in a queue or put it in a common area as a file. The other DW system would pick up this and post them. If you have a middleware between your R/3 and the third part (dw) system, this becomes even simpler as the data transfer will be handled by the middleware. The deltas can be handled programatically based on the date and the time stamp. Think about this solution. Hope it helps.

Attribute categorization in the category modeler - IC WebClient

Hi,
in a customer project, I have created customer-specific categorizations in SAP CRM 5.0 (catalog, code groups and codes).
The first level contains in the category modeler the car brands (e.g. FIAT, BMW, AUDI; they are also assigned as subject codes).
The second level contains the parts (e.g. seats, enginges; they are also assigned as subject codes).
The last level contains the specific configuration of the parts in level 2.
Example:
Level 1: FIAT
Level 2: SEATS
Level 3: LEATHER
Level 1: BMW
Level 2: SEATS
Level 3: LEATHER
General settings are maintained on the tab General Data:
Identifier: AUTOMOBILE
Name: Automobile categories
Description: Automobile categories
Status: Draft
Logical Structure: Attributive categorization
Authorization Mode: AND combination
Remark: In the CRM customizing following settings are in subject profile:
Catalog: Y1 Car brands          Level 1
Catalog: Y2 Parts               Level 2
Catalog: Y3 Config               Level 3
In the category modeler I cant assign a duplicate entry. What must I do to make attributive categorization?

Hi,
I think you will have to maintain the same attributes at each level for duplicate selection .
Main Node if say is Product>subnode>seat--->Leather
Adjacent Node        Product 2 -->subnode >seat>Leather
Status release and save (24hrs)
with this you will be able to select seat and leather in both product categories

intially i created view object named EmpByEmail.........for that EmpByEmail1 is created in datacontrols....i deleted EmpByEmail in demo.model by mistake and i created again with same name EmpBYEmail another view object...again another EmpByEmail2 is created in datacontrols.....

Please seasrch for the EmpByEmail1 file in ur project and remove all the details in the Page Def and UI and then try again.
Due to the EmpByEmail1 existance in page Def this may occur . It may help , still if it was not working then I am sorry for that.

1.Created connection and able to see all the tables.
2.Cretaed model with business component diagram and able to test successfully using Business component browser connect.
3.Created on jsp file and did drag and drop of table view from APP module data control as read only form.

Iphone applications by category

I downloaded the new Itunes, and now i am unable to figure out how to sort applications by category now. i am looking to purchase some educational applications for my preschooler but now all i can see are the "top" ones-- there is no way i can find to show just "educational" ones. help?

iTunes Store > Home Page > Hover over App Store heading and click triangle > Select Education from drop down menu.
Be warned however that the list is not broke down further after that point - I get Page 1 of 254. You can sort by Name, Most Popular, or Release date.

Application Resources into Model Project

Hi everyone!
I'm writing to yours, because I'm working in a project witch ADF Faces/JSF/EJB 3.0./TopLink/BPEL technology.
I have Session Beans which implement business rules and business logic. I want to centralize the messages that the user will view due to execution of logic methods. I was thinking to implement an Application Resources Boundle in Model project like a ViewController project. I think that is a good idea to centralize the messages and I will get better maintein of this into the application.
What do you think about this?.

Two web Applications targeting one model project, missunderstand

The simpliest way to explain my doubt;
1. Lets create one Fusion ADF Application;
1.1 ViewProject_One
1.2 ViewProject_Two
1.3 Model_Shared
One index.jspx in each viewProject and one adfTable targeting the same AppModule ( here I tried also to create a second appModule extending the original )
When we run ViewProject_One it works ok;
When we Run ViewProject_Two it worsk ok;

My question actually was not about compile time dependencies, but about run-time dependencies between two projects app1.jpr and app2.jpr.
First project has J2EE context root /app1 and the second one has context root /app2.
First project runs as http://localhost:8887/app1/login.jsp where user can login. After successful login it renders page with link to the page in the second project, e.g. http://localhost:8887/app2/welcome.jsp
When user clicks on this link it is supposed to transfer control to the second web application app2.
The problem is the first root context does not recognize the /app2 context. Only if you execute second project first it will start in its own root context which is /app2, but then it is not possible to use application app1, which must be executed first!?
I guess application.xml, orion.xml, web.xml etc. must be configured but don't know how

You can deploy both Applications and Packages using the Application Catalog.
Just make sure to target a user collection.
Deploy to users as "Avaliable" and it will show up in the Application Catalog.

How to Delete Category Modeler Schema in Deployed status

Please help. We have a challenge of deleting Schema's which were created to test out during the Dev phase. We have deployed these schema and would like to delete them for various reason.
Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated.

Custom Application's Model Bundle in Webcenter Spaces

I created a custom ADF application (MVC) that has a portlet entry. The application has a model, connecting to an oracle database, and a view controller, showing the model's view objects in JSF fragments. I created two ".properties" files, ModelBundle_en and ModelBundle_ar, that contain the same keys as the default ModelBundle created when I used the attributes control hints.
The application works prefectly fine when deployed on the IntegeratedWebLogicServer that comes with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0. But when I deploy it on Webcenter and show it on spaces, the application initially gets the right locale and displays the labels correcty, then when i navigate between the pages, it displays the labels based on the browser's locale and not spaces' locale. However, if I refresh the page, it displays the labels correctly; i.e. from spaces' locale.
The only solution I found so far, was adding the model bundle in faces-config.xml, then using the EL Expression, #{modelBundle['Key']}, instead of using the attributes label, #{attribute.hints.label}. I would prefer to use the arrtibutes label, so that when i drag an drop a component, I don't have to manually refer to the bundle in the component's value.
Does anyone have a solution please?

My taskflow is actually using a datasource that i have configuered for webcenter spaces also but when i look at the logs, it tells me the following:
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to look up comp/env/jdbc/workshopDS in /app/webapp/webcenter/312050545.; remaining name 'comp/env/jdbc/workshopDS.
Any idea how can this be the error even after having thee datasource configuered?

MVC: Storing a model in Application

Hello again,
I just found fragments in here and the weblogs on how to store a model (derived from CL_BSP_MODEL) within the application.
To clear it up: I have a model class that shall be persistent to all controllers within the session scope (so, per user). My controllers have an attrribute called APPLICATION, being of type OBJECT. But many examples talk of the interface IF_BSP_APPLICATION which I cannot find within any of my controllers. The BSP app entry itself has no pinters to classes, just base porperties and navigation mappings, so where do I find this reference to IF_BSP_APPLICATION?
I could create a custom class to store my model, but where to create it? I have multiple controllers and want to go shure that another controller (not being a sub controller) receives the model. I have set all my ctonrollers as well as the app to session lifecycle.
It would be okay for me to pass the next controller my model, but navigation->set_parameter() cannot pass object references.
I would like to have something like this:
CTRLA:
application->set_attribute( name='model' value=me->model ).
CTRLB:
mod = application->get_attribute( name='model' ).
Where "application" is really one single instance per session for all controllers within the MVC app.
From Java I know this as request.getSession().setAttribute("model", model);

You already have a pointer to your application in the controller class. It is just very generic (type object). You need to cast it into your specific object type before you can use it.
