  • Add to library not working iTunes for mac 11.1.5

I am not sure whether I've had a need to add music to my iTunes library since the Mavericks upgrade but I've discovered that I cannot add to Library by any of the usual methods (add to library, drag dropping etc). I've tried folders, individual files and different music formats but with no success.
Nothing happens atall - it's like I didn't even select the command.
I see a number of old threads on this but nothing recent on this version. Has anyone else had this problem and can point me towards a fix. Do I need to downgrade or apply a patch or give up?

Hi Limnos  (your reply has now appeared it must have been a time delay!)
I've tried this and it has now readded all the old mp3 & M4a files but is not adding the new AIFF files any more.
I then tried using apple encoder to covert the files and import as M4a but that doesn't work either.
It's like it doesn't like any of my new folders.
I've tried applying the 'share'/'permissions' to all subfolders of my music folder where the music is stored but this didn't work either.
Any other suggestions v welcome as I'm running out of ideas

  • Why does my library not update itunes to display purchased songs?

I bought a portion of an album a few months ago, and went to purchase the rest of the album and none of the songs I have purchased show up as purchased.  I bought one of the songs I did not own, and it instantly marked it as purchased but did not update the rest of it.  Any advice/ fix for this?  Also I have the "share details of your library with apple" turned on.

  • Any way of installing applications directly - not using iTunes?

The manual tells me that the application will be installed next time I sync....
I will have no computer to which to sync (unless there is a Linux solution of which I am unaware).
Can't I just get the application off the store directly like I do on my google phone?

    Thank You -- Matthew.
Not sure why my edit didn't take last night. I realized shortly after I posted that this might be a 3G/WiFi issue and added that. I use my phone in 3G = If I am on wireless, I am usually on my laptop.
And you got the situation correct... there is no WiFi at her house (former school teacher living on the edge of the Navajo reservation). The cable company wants a crazy amount of money to run the line out to the house. So we are exploring options as she has retired and no longer has internet access through work either. I was thinking the ipad might be a quick fix as she is close enough to the interstate that the 3G will work, but I will have to think about this some more. Thanks -- Mary

  • How do I get music from my music library into my itunes library

I recently had to move my iTunes library from one computer to another, when I did so it put all the iTunes into a folder instead of into the actual iTunes library. Now I cant figure out how to get all this music into the iTunes library. Someone please help as I have been working on this for about 12 hours now and Apple apparently doesn't believe in customer service.

If the music is in the iTunes Media or iTunes Music folder but isn't visible when you open the iTunes application, drag the song files or a folder containing them into the library in the open iTunes application window.
If the music is in the iTunes application but not the iTunes Media or iTunes Music folder, open iTunes and consolidate or organize the library.

The other day I was prompted to update itunes.  I started to, and it crashed my itunes.  Then I tried to uninstall itunes, so that I could turn around and re-install it again.  Now I can not install itunes.  I get Runtime Error! message. R6034.  For the last two hours I have  tried deleting itunes, moving the .dll files to the desktop, restarting the computer (more times than I can count), deleting the temp files, updating my internet explorer, using the fix it program,.....
The two messages that I am getting are:
Runtime Error! Program:c\Program Files (x86)\itunes\Tunes.exe     R6034   An application has made an attempt to load the c runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Also:  Service to 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Moblie Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services.

I too was getting the same message regarding R6034. After many frustrating hours I went to the iTunes support page and clicked on "install and update." When that page came up I scrolled on to "removing and reinstalling iTunes......" There they tell you what files need to be removed and what order to do it in so you can reinstall iTunes. My iTunes works now and I didn't lose any music.
About the Apple Mobile Device, well that's one of the files that has to be uninstalled. When you reinstall iTunes the Apple Mobile Device is automatically reinstalled.
Hope this works for you as it did for me. Warning: it takes about an hour to do all this.

  • HT1766 Recently updated my iPhone 4s to the iOS 6. Now I can not install application updates, my music library has vanished, iTunes Match (in Settings) keeps setting itself to "Off".

I recently updated my iPhone 4s to the iOS 6. Now I can not install application updates, my music library has vanished, iTunes Match (in Settings) keeps setting itself to "Off". I have also logged off of iTunes in Settings, and it will not let me log back in. Just a few moments ago when I again tried to log into iTunes, it asked me for my Password, then replyed that I had no Match account; but I do. Is Restore the best option?
    Any suggestions

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more.  And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should.  On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much.  I will post a note in the app store to let them know.  I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

  • ITunes library not included in media browser, can't share with iLife apps

My iTunes library is no longer included in my media browser previews in other iWork and iLife applications. Not sure when it disappeared, but I know it used to be there! Only recent changes I can think of are I recently migrated all data and accounts on my old iMac to the new iMac using Migration Assistant and I also recently changed the location of the iTunes library from an external drive back to the internal drive. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here?
    Your help is much appreciated!

Sorry to update the status, but I've also noticed that my iPhoto, iMovie and Aperture libraries are not being shared in the media browser either. I'm thinking OS X is looking in the wrong place for these libraries as a result of the Migration to the new Mac for some reason, but I really don't know. Any help?

  • The iTunes application could not be opened. The disk could not be read from or written to

I have my iTunes library stored on an external hard drive. The hard drive seems to work fine with no issues whatsoever. However, whenever i attempt to open iTunes I get the following message "The iTunes application could not be opened. The disk could not be read from or written to."
Plz help...this is driving me off the wall!
    Rome.

I fixed it. I just moved my iTunes library from the external harddrive to the Macintosh HD and its working fine again with all the data, tags and what not in tact. Apparently there were a couple corrupt files in the external harddrive iTune library.

  • ITunes application could not be opened. error 13008

I've got a 500GB USB3 drive that has an iTunes library on it and that's all it has on it.
I've attached the drive to a Negear R6300 router that has a USB port for attaching a network drive.
ReadyShare sees it and I can mount it as a Volume that shows up in the finder.
I can open the library directory in the finder and play songs manually..
But when I option-launch iTunes, and am asked to locate the library I wish to open, I navigate to the shared volume and select the directory containing the library. I then get the following error and when I click OK, iTunes quits.
"The iTunes application could not be opened, An unknown error occurred (13008)
    I'm lost at this point.

I finally found a solution for this.
The external drive was formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
I reformatted the drive as FAT32 and now I am able to access my iTunes library without any isseus from the Netgear R63000 ReadyShare volume.
    Yay!

I've just installed iTunes on my Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop, but i can't open it. It keeps telling me that Apple application was not found. What should i do now?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

Suddenly I have this same problem.  iTunes was running fine w/ updates and Mavericks as of this morning at 9am.  Now it wont launch at all and I cannot even create a new library.

I can't open my itunes application, keep getting message - the itunes application could not be opened, an unexpected error occurred (13010) Please help

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occurred (1301

I launched iTunes 9.0.1 today and got this error:
"The itunes application could not be opened. an unknown error occurred (13014)"
An archived tip on the iTunes for Windows forum that suggested deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb. That didn't work, I also had to delete iTunes Library Extras.itdb. (For the record I renamed them instead of deleting, but the original post suggested deleting).
Anyway, I thought I'd pass that on in case anyone else experiences this problem.

I had the same error and I keep my iTune folder on an external drive due to size. I tried to create a sub-folder to temporarirly hold the itdb file(s) and give it a try. The system wouldn't let me create the folder, at which point I remembered I had left my mac on but unplugged to find the battery drained in the morning. Upon plugging it in, it came back but then told me I hadn't exjected my external disk. So, I figured there might be a correlation. I tried to eject the disk and it wouldn't let me though no programs were running. So, I went ahead an chose to "Force" the eject via the option it presented me. On the un/re-plugging the disk, I tried to created a subfolder and it worked. Before moving any files to it, I tried starting iTunes again and voila, it worked. So, I suspect the comment above about files being locked is what bit me. Hope this helps...
