Applications not showing in Spaces on Snow Leopard

I have looked in the forums and haven't found anything specific to my issue. I can't tap F8 because it starts  music in my iTunes, so I set it up with right click on my mouse (yep using a mouse). When the spaces applications show up on my screen in squares,  only Firefox shows up,and the others show up as blue squares with nothing in them. How do I get them to show up? I have the applications assigned to different spaces, not the same one. I have spaces enabled as well. What am I doing wrong or not doing?

I def. need some help here. I have seen some people open this and read it to see what is going on, but no replies. I still see blue squares where there should be showing my applications I have selected. Am I doing something wrong? Any advise would be appreciated!

  • Why is Screen Recorder not showing in Quicktime on Snow LEopard?

I need a screen recorder feature to record some  videos and presentations for uploading onto my website. With all the video and audio features included on OSX 10.6 I expected Quick Time Player to have a screen recorder feature - but no dice. There is no feature on the Quick Time menu. I have Quick Time Pro, iMove ( 09 and 06), the entire iWork suite, on an older MacBook (07) with plenty of RAM.
    I must be missing something.
Also - will there be sound with this feature? Or must I opt for another app and if so, which one? And where are there tutorials about how best to do this? THe need must be fairly commonplace by now.
    Thanks

Just found another post that tells me QuickTime Pro doesn't have a screen Recorder Feature. So can QT fromSnow LEopard be uploaded alongside Pro?

  • Calendar duplicates not showing up in ical/snow leopard

After upgrading to ios5 and activating icloud, my ical entries on my macbook duplicated (as did the calendar entries on my iphone and ipad).  I cleaned the macbook duplicates with spanning tools, resulting in an ical file on my macbook that is without duplicates.
when i sync to the ipad, and tell it to overrite the ipad data, the calendar duplicates reappear on the ipad.  this happens even when i restore the ipad to factory settings.  it's as if there are duplicate entries on ical that are somehow hidden.
    help.

I had a similar problem to yours which I've managed to resolve.
In my case in removing the duplicates from iCloud and my Mac I had to change the name of my calendar. When I then opened up my iPad I found I still had duplicates there, possibly caused by my having the Sync iCal Calendars box checked in iTunes for the iPad. I tried unchecking this box and removing calendars from syncing in the iPad, choosing all calendars there to be deleted. However I then found that there was an out of date calendar still there under the old calendar name.
I found out from help I got from the Apple Express Lane that there is an inbuilt calendar app in the iPad which uses Calendar for the name of its calendars and the reason I couldn't get rid of the out of date calendar seems to have been due to my having changed the calendar name in iCloud. After checking that iCloud did have all the correct calendar entries I managed to get rid of that out of date calendar by deleting the iCloud account in the iPad and then setting it up again.
    I hope that helps.

  • I can't use my Mail application on my  10.6.8 Snow Leopard Mac

I can't use my Mail application on my  10.6.8 Snow Leopard Mac.
    Any suggestions?

iCloud is not supported on 10.6.8, the minimum is Lion 10.7.2.
You can make mail work by manually entering the account however:

  • Can you tell me why iPad 2 is not cannot to laptop with snow Leopard it doesn't cannot it

Can you tell me why iPad 2 is not cannot to laptop with snow Leopard it doesn't cannot it

You question is garbled. Are you saying your iPad cannot connect to a laptop with Snow Leopard? Restart your computer. Start iTunes and check for updates. If there are any updates to itunes download and install it. Then restart your computer and start iTunes.
Then reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart.
Finally connect your iPad to your computer. Use a USB on your computer that is not on the keyboard or connected to a hub.
If you do these things and it still doesn't show up in iTunes on your computer report back here and explain clearly just what happened.

If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

You have started this annoying discussion.
I don't have any problems with my OS instead of you.
I have already told you what to do, if you have no idea how to do that just go and buy yourself another support subscription from your mac support.
The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system. check that.
what version of JAVA do you have in your fancy OS? most of the time upgrade java to the latest version will fix the issues.
Update java from sun website not from another mac tore.

    I'll try your suggestions....Thanks!
Recently, I try to Re-install Snow Leopard, unfortunately, still unsuccessful.
The Mybook Icon only appears if it is connected via USB.
After using Firewire and getting used to the speed...USB 2.0 is like a Corvette racing a Veyron...lol
I am not upset on these issues, it is normal for new OS to have these problems...unfortunately, even OSX is not invincible.
I'm sure Apple/Steve is on every Programers A*s for a solution.
I still think APPLE'S OSX will still be the future of Operating system!
For now, still waiting for the patch and hopefully soon.
Suggestions are still Welcome for a Solutions:-)

I want to install an old airport express, the ones which are directly plugged into the socket - but it does not work with Maverick or Snow Leopard - can I configure it with a windows pc?

The Mac running Snow Leopard should be able to configure virtually any version of the AirPort Express.
Tell us what steps that you are taking to configure the Express and what happens after each step.

I have an old mac version 10.5.8  I need to update to snow leopard and my disc drive isn't working... Can I download snow leopard without a disc?

Snow Leopard is only available on disk. Furthermore, even if you had a working disk drive, you may not be able to install Snow Leopard anyway, depending on just how "old" your Mac is. It must have an Intel processor to run Snow Leopard (Macs with Intel processors were first made in 2006), among other requirements.

  • Lion Clients 10.7.4 show network accounts are unavailable and server is not responding when binding to Snow Leopard server 10.6.8

    Hello,
I am running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 and my clients are Lion 10.7.4.  While testing I had no issues binding 10.7.4 to our 10.6.8 server's OD.  I created a 10.7.4 image to push to all of our machines and in the beginning of last week I was able to push the image and get the machines to bind with OD and apply preferences on these machines through workgroup manager.  Towards the end of the week though this stopped working.  Now any time I bind a 10.7.4 client to OD it allows me to perform an authenticated bind and the machine shows up in workgroup manager but immediatley after binding the client the status jelly next to the OD server in the directory list is red and says "This server is not responding".  If I reboot the client I get a notification that "Network accounts are unavailable" at the login screen.  My preferences from workgroup manager are also not applying, which is my main concern because without workgroup manager my mac server is somewhat pointless as we use it for very little else.
I've since tried to bind a snow leopard machine (10.6.8) and this still is working with a green status jelly.  I've also built a lion machine from scratch, updated to the 10.7.4 combined update and am still getting the same issue where it shows the server is not responding when binding to OD.  I then applied the subsiquent OS update after the 10.7.4 combined update but the problem still persists.
Is anyone else having this issue?  Any help would help me keep my sanity.
    Thanks,
    Dane

Have you had any luck finding a solution to this?  The only thing I have found was to unbind and then bind without authentication.  Any help with progress on your end would be appreciated!
    Nick.

  • Please help.. How can a RW DVD show up fine in Snow Leopard but not Lion

Hiyah, I've just taken a RW dvd to my local Apple store for them to sort me out but they are all flummoxed.  Episode 8 of Game of Thrones shows up as such in Snow Leopard but I bought a new Imac last week and Lion refuses to show the correct file.  Series 2 Episode 8 shows up as Series 2 Episode 6 in Lion.  I opened the file in Lion and it plays ep6 but on my pc at work it plays ep8 so I know it's the correct download.  Has anyone else come across this?  Also do you think it would show up ok if I used a memory stick instead of a dvd?
    Thank you

Is it possible to recover files that were emptied from Trash, overwritten?
A professional data recovery service such as DriveSavers can recover them, but the cost of doing so can be hundreds or thousands of dollars.

  • X11 not starting after upgrade to Snow Leopard

Hello, sorry if this is trivial stuff for all of you, but I am really having trouble sorting this out; I'd be grateful if anyone can help. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.2), did the Combo update as suggested in www.apple.com, but I cannot get X11 to run since the upgrade (I did re-install X11 from the optional installations, btw). The symptoms are that when I try to run any X11 application (such as xmgrace, gnuplot or xfig), or even if I click directly on the X11 icon in the Utilities folder, the X11 icon keeps jumping in and out of the dock; I reproduce below what shows up in the console. Needless to say that I have read through it, but cannot make any sense of what is reported there. I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem, since all I have done is to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard following the standard procedure. Should I perhaps do a clean install?
    Thanks in advance.

A zero size is not unusual, especially if you cannot set any preferences because you cannot get
    x11 to start.
Your user account may very well be hosed.
Here is some info on how to replace it:

I believe the easiest way to accomplish this is to first repair your user account permissions
using the SL install DVD. This won't fix the account, but it will make sure the user data in the
account has the correct permissions before backing it up for transfer later.
Mac OS X v10.5 or later: While started from the Leopard Install DVD, a user's home directory permissions can be reset using the "Reset Password" utility.
I suggest using Carbon Copy Cloner or equivalent to backup and restore your account data.
