Applications not updating just show icon with line through it but not responding

App Store shows 6 updates available. Clicked on update all and now it is just in a frozen state. The icons for the Apps are dim with the line that is traditionally there when updating, but nothing is happening. If I click on the icons it say Unalbe to Download Application at this time. I have checked and am able to update Apps on my iPhone but not iPad. Any Ideas???

Are you able to access the internet using Safari? If not, you may be having a problem with the iPad's WiFi connection. Try unplugging the WiFi router for a few seconds. Then reset the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.
If you are updating Apps from the App Store App on your iPad, you might also try updating by using iTunes on your computer.

Table borders show up with Firefox or IE but not Safari (Win or MAC)

This very simple site (http://www.brandondean.net) has two table borders that show up under FF and IE but not Safari (either Win v4.0 or Safari for MAC, same result). I'm not an expert but I did the work using Dreamweaver 2004 MX as XHTML compliant, tested every page at W3C.org to make sure they comply with XHTML, and they do (except for my not putting in "alt" on images). I even downloaded Dreamweaver CS4 to run the "clean up the code" command and nothing is fixing the problem. I'm hoping someone out there has seen this before and can help us out. Thx.

It's probably just because the border widths you are specifying are too small (or WebKit is interpreting picas differently to Firefox/IE - I say WebKit as the same problem is visible in Google Chrome and that uses WebKit like Safari as well).
Try setting using this instead:
.borders {
font-family: Verdana;
font-size: 10px;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: normal;
font-variant: normal;
color: #cccccc;
text-decoration: none;
border: 1px solid #888888;
That seems to do the trick for Firefox and Chrome on this Linux machine I'm using at the moment.

Apps are not updating or downloading just showing as waiting.

See if any of these things help.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

i Have a problem with my Mac mini starting up...
a Couple of months ago I had an issue with my iPhones syncing to iTunes, I contacted apple support centre for assistance and got it fixed after weeks of struggle with apples technicians helping night after night we figured out that the only way to successfully get the iPhones synced we had to create a new user account which was the last resort we wanted, the. Helped me installing OS X numerous times and did report and all the was to do ( to much to explain). So they suggested that the only was with the new user account but advised that when I have backed up everything I should contact them and the would help me format the hard drive and installing everything onto the Mac mini from scratch, so I did that and got the hard drive formatted and choose the option to install a new copy of OS X off the net via the disk utilities centre on the Mac mini on downloading completion the Mac mini rebooted and started up by hanging with with the startup screen so I switched it off and switched it Back on after a couple of minutes i got the apple changing into a circle with a strike thru?
I Have tried installing a OS X on a external and changing the booting device but the Mac mini doesn't respond anything done on the keyboard?
IS there here any one out there that would be able to advise how I can try and fix this myself?

LELA icon has red cirle with line through it. Not working.

On one of my home computers, my Linksys icon in the sytem tray has a red circle with a line thorugh it. It doesn't seem to be working. Tried rebooting, repairing the install, rebooting, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, OK I'm all out of reboots. It still doesn't work.
LELA works OK on two other computers. (All 3 are Vista computers.)

Gerco, LELA does not work no matter what version. If it does, consider yourself lucky. If not, don't waste your time. It gives incorrect information and makes any troubleshooting of the network difficult from normal procedures due to its interference. Please remove it from your system as it is not needed for ANYTHING for the router or your network, sorry. The program that might work better is Network Magic, try that.

Please do not use the post title to post the entire question (no offense, it just makes the forum look ugly). As for your question - you really did install it? I mean with serial and install disc? If so, the update would work, because it would find the proper install info. That not being the case, there are a few things that may be wrong:
- due to you language settings, the installer cannot find the folder because it has a different name (though on Vista, that shouldn't be an issue)
- at some point, you used the CS4 Clean Utility/ Script to remove install info
- you are using a pirated copy that you may have bought on eBay or elsewhere that has a modified installer to circumvent licensing
- you are using an unlicensed version a "friend" gave you and that never was installed, but merely copied to the harddrive
That pretty much covers the immediate options, now it's up to you to tell us, which one may apply. Assuming, we are talking about perfectly legit software, re-installing it from the original media should take care of the problem. For illegal software, you should understand, that you are utterly on your own and nobody will help you, much less on the forums of the company producing the software.

Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

Quick update, the duplicate of the comic-con episode downloaded succesfully, and so has the first episode of Supernatural season 8. Blue dots appear to their left in the library.
All the Vampire Diaries episodes (except the bonus comic-con double) have vanished, but I paid for them !
They're not anywhere on my harddrive either.
Which is new by the way, this is a new MacbookPro, literally set it up today.
So it would seem this is a case of purchased and pseudo-downloaded episodes that ended up beinge gobbled up by some iTunes black hole, leaving me with no money, and no episodes.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). Exactly where are you clicking, you need to be specific. For example, are you using the Dock, the Applications folder, Launchpad, etc. to attempt to start teh app? Also IOS 7.1.2 does not run on a Mac, what version of OS X is installed on your computer?

If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that your device is correctly connected to the wifi/internet (settings > wifi)
If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
If this doesn't help, try turning off some items for back up in a pattern to try to establish if your problem is being caused by specific data on your device.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
