Applications not visible in finder

I loaded Mountian Lion on to my Macbook Pro and now my applications subfolder is not visible in Finder?  I can't seem to find it anywhere?  Any ideas where it went to?
Thanks!

Your Applications folder should be in Macintosh HD/Applications.
Not sure what you mean by a sub-folder?
Can you launch your apps from the Dock?

If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > YouTube being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPhone has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Yosemite: Thumbnails not visible in Finder

I ran into a strange problem immediately after updating to Yosemite.
    I have a 2014 mbp dual-video, 16 gb ram.
In any folder on my drive icons are not visible. They are there, I can drag and copy-paste folders and files, but the finder only shows a blank white window. Everything looks normal in List, Columns or Cover Flow modes.
I did a safe mode boot and restarted normally and everything went back to normal, including visible icons. But now I have the problem with an external ExFat drive. Anyone know how to solve this or what's going on?

Here's my problem, that continues with newly created folders. You can see that this folder has 5 items in it, with one selected. But they are not visible when Finder is set to icon mode.
Also, when I drag a corner of the Finder window to make it bigger, i get some "dragging" visual artifacts that are not visible in the screenshots but appear on my screen.

What version of the software do you have? iOS 5? iOS 6?
Check by opening Settings app. The navigate to General > About. It will tell you the software verison.
In iOS 5, restrictions could cause YouTube from not appearing any where in the home screen.
    See: iOS: Understanding Restrictions
In iOS 6, it's normal because YouTube is no longer part of iOS. You'll need to go to the App Store and download it.

  • My new folders are not visible in Finder

New folders (generated by a application, SABNZB+, that runs in the background as a web service) will only show up in Finder once I have run a search in Finder and are not visible before. I have tried a disk repair and a permissions rebuild.
    Any ideas anyone?

Yes they do, no problems there.
I am starting to believe it might have to do with the fact that the folders are created by an unarchiver that reassembles files after they are downloaded from my newsgroup. The strange thing is that there never used to be a problem, it started somewhere around the second update to mountain lion. But it could also be a new version of the application SABNzb+, I am not sure.
What is also weird is this: I can find the folder when doing a search in Finder, then open the folder, all files are there and the folder is then visible normally.
Edit: The files are reassembled by the unarchiver on the main Macintosh HD, then moved to a different volume and deleted from the originating volume.

  • NIDaq Windows application not visible in new project

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to build a VB.NET WPF application using Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2012.
I followed the walktrough Creating a measurement  studio NIDAQmx application, but I get stuck at the point of creating the project as Visual studio does not offer me the possibility to create an NIDaq Windows application.
I have DAQmx9.8 installed for LabVIEW, I downloaded NI device Drivers 2014 feb, but still the same.
When I installed Measurement Studio, it could not find the Device Drivers, and even after downloading them and trying to install them afterwards trought the installer of measurement studio, it cannot find them.
Daqmx support for .NET 4.5 seems to be installed too, although it is not visible in the list of installed softare.
    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Matt,
Thanks for your answer, I did a custom install and I installed .NET framework support 4 & 4.5, but I did not install Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 support, is this mandatory?
Although it is working now on some of my configurations at least.
I have 3 machines on which I have made the attempt, with the following configurations:
    A: x86 desktop:
    -Windows 7
-LabVIEW installed, NI-Device drivers Feb 2014 and NI-DAQmx 9.8.0 (previously installed, for labview)
    -Visual Studio 2010, 2012, 2013
-Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2010, 2012
=> NI DAQ project and NI DAQ assistant available in both visual studio 2010 & 2012
    B: x86 desktop:
    -Windows 7
    -NI-Device drivers Feb 2014
    -Visual Studio 2010
-Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2010
=> NI DAQ project and NI DAQ assistant available in visual studio 2010
    C: x64 laptop:
    -Windows 7
-LabVIEW installed and NI-DAQmx 9.8.0 ( NI Devices Drivers feb 2014, but Ni-Daqmx 9.8.0 was installed before as I am usually working with labview)
    -Visual Studio 2010, 2012, 2013
-Measurement Studio 2013 for Visual Studio 2010, 2012
=> NI DAQ project and NI DAQ assistant available only within visual studio 2010 not 2012....
I would like the laptop to work under 2012 too, as it is the machine I use most of the time.
Does the order of installation impact on visual studio integration?
Should I reinstall everything on the laptop from the begining? In which order?
It seems that NI-DAQmx 9.8.0 even with .NET support 4&4.5 is not enough, and it is mandatory to install NI Device Drivers Feb 2014, Is that correct? If yes, why?
Now the most important for me is the ability to check if the signal outputs are generated correctly on the simulated device, thus being able to see traces with NI IO trace, and none of these configurations, using both NI DAQ example or a project generated with the daq assistant, shows anything in NI IO trace.
I have posted related threads on ni.forums.

  • "Home" folder not visible in Finder

My "Home" folder is not anymore visible in Finder under "Users". This affects some programs that cannot find my files unless I copy them to the "Shared" folder.
If I list folders in the Terminal application, I can see my Home folder under /Users.
    Any hint?

Paste this command into Terminal and press 'return' on your keyboard.
    chflags nohidden ~/

  • Internal Hard Drive is not visible in Finder or Desktop or anywhere

The problem first and then the details.
I cannot see my systems hard drive, No icon shows up on the desktop, and it is not visible in the Finder.
It does however show up in Disk Utility.
I have repaired permissions and repaired the disk, both from within the OS and also from the install disc during a reboot.
Not here are some details. This is both a fresh install of the OS AND a brand new drive. I just had it installed today and then reinstalled the OS.
While going thru the process of reinstalling all my software, something froze for no good reason, and I eventually had to force quit the finder and when the system wouldn't shut down, I had to physically power it off.
Upon rebooting, my systems HD is no longer visible.
I suppose I can try and reinstall again, but I feel like there has to be a smarter way to deal with this.
    Any suggestions?

Have you confirmed that in Finder > Finder menu > Preferences > General and Sidebar tabs that the boxes to show hard disks are checked?
Assuming they are checked, you may a victim of the 'invisible drive' problem. See Francine's helpful tutorial for the fix:

  • External hard drive not visible in Finder or Disk Utility

    Hi everyone,
My Wester Digital 2TB external hard drive has disappeared, so to speak, with all my photos. I work as a freelance photographer. Mostly on Lightroom 5.6
When I plug it in, with firewire, I can feel the disk rotating normally however it does not appear in finder or disk utility.
I've tried using a USB cable, restarting my mac, forced restart, changing firewire ports (HD has 2 ports), plugging the HD into a different laptop and nothing.
Ive also searched Finder prefrences and visibility is enabled.
I have no idea what could have caused this as I was using the HD the night before. I didnt pullout without properly ejecting. Maybe the HD is full or almost, but I dont think that would the cause of these troubles.
    I'm using a late 2011 Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.4
    Any suggestions??
    Thanx

An update for anyone who can help me:
I have tried the external hard drive in other computers (mac and windows), each time I get the same problem above.
I have removed the HD from the enclosure and purchased a docking station for it (3.5" SATA). When I plug it in to the laptop it disconnects itself straight away before it is visible. With the windows computers it installs the drivers and says that the device is ready to use, then disconnects before it shows up.
As the HD is not visible there is no option to re-format or anything.
This is very frustrating as I was using the HD with no issues and it randomly disconnected and I have not been able to access since.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • External hard drive not visible in Finder, but is operating

iMac, 2 Gb RAM, Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
It has 4 external USB drives attached through a powered hub. All of a sudden, after about a year, one of them no longer shows up in ‘Finder’. However, all four drives have an icon on the desktop. The drive is visible and verifiable in ‘Disk Utility’. Double clicking the desktop icon opens the drive and I can copy a file from it. iTunes can see it. From a Macbook’s ‘Finder’, over WiFi, I can see and copy files to and from the drive. Finder Preferences shows nothing amiss. I’ve shut down and restarted the iMac several times with no change. The drive just does not show up in Finder on the host iMac.
Searching this forum has not helped. Any suggestions?
    Max

Well, this is embarrassing. A suggestion from an older thread on Macrumors.com called "Hard Drive does not appear in Finder / Desktop", solved this problem. Simply drag the missing drive icon from the desktop to Finder! Perseverance and different search wording AND reading a lot of stuff pays off.
If other's problem is not solved with this fix, you might benefit from this 10.5-based thread. They also mention an Apple 10.5 fix. Both URL's below.
The op's problem was that the drive did not appear in Finder OR the desktop but was operational. There was a lot of in-depth information with this fix embedded.
Thanks for the interest and suggestions.

  • Application not visible in PDA  after server deployment

    Hi All,
I developed an Mi 7.1 application.Deployed  all the sdas in the Mi server using sdoe_upload_archive.I created a device.Assigned all the mobile components to the device .I synchronized the device and it is successful.
I can see the service and mobile ui component in the  mobileapps folder of the device.
But I am not able to see the application in the application launcher of the  PDA.
    Any clues in resolving this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Rajesh.A

    Hi Rajesh,
The application link may not be visible for the below given reason. Check whether it solves your issue :
Reason 1. If the role SAP_DOE_ALL_APP_VISIBLE is missing for the user on the DOE system, then the application link is not visible on the home page.
Solution 1. Add the role via agents in the NWM portal. You should also perform a delta download for the following data objects in the SAP BASIS 7.10 software component version (SWCV):
    1. USERDETAILS
    2. USER_AUTHORIZATION
Reason 2. The application link is not visible because of the user authorization issue. Check whether the SAP BASIS 7.10 software component version is assigned to the device or not.
If the SAP BASIS 7.10 software component version is not assigned to the device, then follow either of the steps specified below (2a or 2b):
Solution 2a. Disable the authorization check on the mobile client
    (For PDAs)
This can be done by creating a configuration.properties file in the \MI\Settings\ folder with the entry com.sap.tc.mobile.cfs.deploy.check_authorizations=false. Stop and start the client. The file is consumed, the authorization check is disabled, and then the application is visible in the application launcher.
Solution 2b. Assign the authorization-related SWCV to the device (in the NWM portal)
In the NWM portal, go to the DMSWCV tab in Device Management. Manually assign the SWCV containing the authorization data objects (SAP BASIS 7.10). Trigger an extract. Synchronize the device. The authorization objects are now available on the device. The application appears in the application launcher.
Reason 3. If the installed client version and the NWMCLIENT.SCA version uploaded in the DOE are different, even then the application link is not visible on the home page.
Solution 3. Upload the NWMCLIENT.SCA (same version of the client) to the DOE using transaction SDOE_UPLOAD_ARCHIVE.

  • Application not visible in 9.3.1

    hi All,
I have successfully created a database(ms-sql) and configured it.on top of it i have created an application successfully.but when i try to login that app thru planning web or workspace its not visible there.can anyone tell me what is the cause for this.
    thanks in advance

If you are going direct to planning and not seeing the app in the dropdown then it may be down to having created multiple instances in the config utility, if that is the case you will need to associate the datasource with the active instance - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch02s10s04.html
