Applications on two computers and not allowed to sync my ipod touch ?

Hi all,
I have latest versions of itunes and ipod software (just updated now). This is the first time I use my laptop (PC, windows XP)(I copied all my itunes library and applications on this laptop from my desktop PC) to sync my ipod touch. I got a few new podcasts and applications here. During the sync, no problems for the podcasts it seems, but for the applications unexpectedly it tried to remove some applications from my ipod (but these were on my library) and tried to install the new ones. But couldn't do most of these because it says this computer is not allowed (however I end up with a few applications removed from the ipod touch).... This is a pain since I downloaded and even bought some applications in this laptop. So do I have to transfer all my applications to my desktop computer?

I had the same problem. Just got my first I-Pod Touch today, and was downloading apps via I-Tunes when I found the problem. In I-Tunes, go to the STORE tab, and click on "Authorize Computer..." This will bring up the sign on screen for your password. After you log on, you will then be able to sync your apps. I don't understand why I-Tunes continually needs your password, but it does. Hope this works.

Here's a little more information on what I am trying to do.
I have a desktop computer with 4tb worth of pictures that has Lightroom and Photoshop on it. I also have a laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom. I would like to be able to edit those same pictures with their current edits that are currently on my desktop on my laptop. If this can be done, I'm sure I need to be on the same wifi network for my laptop to be able to access my desktop's photo library. I am technically savvy enough to map a network drive, but how do I get my two Lightroom catalogs to sync when I make a change on one of my computers? Would i be working only on one catalog? Or two separate catalogs that would need to be manually synced to the other computer? Would it be beneficial to put my lightroom catalog on something like dropbox?
I'd appreciate any information or tutorials if someone knows how to do this.

I do this by having my LR catalog and photos on an external drive that I swap between the two computers. I am on Windows and have the same drive letter assigned to the drive on both computers.
Because the photos are on a portable drive I back up the portable drive to another hard-drive every night or after important work, because portable drives are susceptible to damage or loss.

After I updated to iTunes 9.0.3.15 I tried to sync my iPod Touch. All went well until this error message popped up; "Some of the items in the iTunes Library, including "headstrong", were not copied to the iPod "Sam's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." ok so I go and authorize it type in my PW and Apple ID correctly and get this error message!; "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please Try Again later."
I run diagnostics and this is what I got and pass all the tests except for the CD in the drive, could anyone please help? It won't allow me to sync any apps to my iTouch and half of my purchased music.

Are you on a Mac? I found this [Type -36 error (I/O Errors (bummers)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2433]
This file is having difficulty while either reading from the drive or writing to the drive. The file
may have been improperly written data to the drive or the hard drive or disk may be damaged.
This is almost always indicative of a media error (hard error on the disk). Sometimes (rarely) it is transient.
Solutions: Try copying the file to another drive. Use a disk recovery software, such as Disk First Aid to examine the disk. You can try rebooting with all extensions off. Once in a while this will allow you to read the data. The file in question should be restored from a backup that was stored on a different disk. Regular backups can reduce the time to recover from this error.

I am not able to sync my ipod touch with itunes.

Whenever i try to sync my ipod touch with itunes. I get the an error "The ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start".
The sync process could not be started.
I am facing these issues from the day when i upgraded my ipod touch to ios 5.0.1
itunes version on my PC: 10.5.1.42
Operating system: Windows XP SP2
Please let me know how can i overcome this problem.

Take the old hard drive and try one of the data recovery programs like Data Rescue 3 and others.
Apple didn't in the past support re download of purchased material.
And there are so many ways to backup data, clone a drive, archive, from the free to the built-in to the more expensive.
I keep the OS on one drive, media files and data on another drive, and a good 1.5TB drive today costs $109. Paragon has backup, clone (makes a full boot drive, not an 'image' such as Acronis or Ghost) so you can use it almost like a daily or weekly mirror.
Depends on the software and data lost and cost of recovery programs and services, but it may be possible. Put the drive in a USB case perhaps and a new drive to recover the files to.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.
Basically what the above is saying is you should transfer your itunes library from your other computer, not try to do it from the iPoad.

I have a new computer and it will not let me sync my ipod touch

I am using a pc with windows 7 and I also installed itunes, but when I want to sync it tells me that it can only sync to one computer, and that syncing would erase all the data on the ipod touch. I need to get pictures, videos and music off my ipod touch.

My password will not allow me into my ipod touch

Hi all,
I have my ipod touch only a short while, I have availed of the password facility and it worked well until just recently when I entered my password and didnt get into my ipod. the music seems to be still playing on random and it wont stop. I dont know how to get in to stop it playing.
i am very annoyed now and getting increasingly dissatisfied with the product as i need to use it for my studies.
please someone help!

Is it not excepting your password? is the keyboard not typing out the password you are providing?
If you are 100% sure about the password you may wish to try the options below.

Please keep in mind that if you restore from backup. And you are still not able to get in with your password. You will need to restore as new so this removes the password. Unless you have an iTunes iPod Touch backup that was backed up before you setup pass code lock.

Skype freezing and not showing IMs on the iPod Touch

I have a brand new iPod touch (4G,) never dropped or broken in any way. For the past couple of weeks, I have been having problems with the Skype app. Sometimes, it hangs up in the middle of a Skype call unprovoked, while still connected to wi-fi, the app will act like it is loading and then stop and return to the home screen, and the most frustrating problem I have been having, is that when I press a button to look at instant messages, or to voice call, the app freezes and I need to return to the home screen. Also, when my iPod finally does load the screen on which I am supposed to see the IMs, the screen is blank, and there's no sign of anything I type or the other person's words.
What can I do to fix this? The problem is only occuring with the Skype app, but it is still important that I have it fixed, seeing that I rely on Skype for a lot.

- Try a reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try deleting the app and then redownloadin/installing the app
- Make sure you have the latest iOS on the iPod
- Restore the iPod from backup
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

My computer will not let me sync my ipod touch

I just purchased a new computer about three months ago with windows 7 ultimate. I downloaded itunes and it works fine, but it won't let me sync my ipod. It comes up fine at first but either while it says it is being verified or while it is syncing my itunes freezes. I can't sync any of my songs. My ipod touch is a 1st gen 16 gb and it works just fine with other computers (it isn't jailbroken either). I tried using alternative software to upload music onto my ipod, but the same thing happens! My itunes does work with my old ipod nano though.. Do I have a bad driver or something? What is wrong?

Two things:
- Completely remove and reinstall the Apple software by the following. That link provides a link for Win &.

- If you still have a problem after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you likely have a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is then in order.

You don't.
When you sync to a different computer it erases the content from the ipod and replaces it with the data from the new computer.
Just copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one, then sync

I have HP Pavilion TouchSmart with Windows 8.1 and current version of iTunes. I downloaded 2 apps to my laptop and am attempting to sync my iPod Touch but keep getting an error stating my computer is not authorized but it is. How do I fix this?

Each time I try to sync I get the same error message. Each time I authorize my computer. And each time I get a reply that my computer is already authorized. I cannot get this to sync.Any ideas?

New iMac, now contacts and cals won't sync to iPod Touch

After migrating from a G4/Tiger to an iMac/Snow Leopard on Friday, I have experienced many keychain and permissions-related problems. I have been able to solve all except one. It involves iTunes not syncing Info (contacts, cals, etc). I have tried everything under the sun and still cannot make it work. If anyone has ideas, please post. I have not been able to arrange a support call with apple yet because it keeps getting rejected and I am told to try again later.

I set up a new standard user to see if iSync problem was solved and it was. Remember, I could not open iSync AT ALL in my current user account. I erased my iPod and synced it with the new user and it worked. At that point, I got fully committed to transferring my files over to the new user instead of piddling with more solutions that might or might not work for this and a variety of other issues that came up during migration. (Nothing against your suggestion which I am sure is a very good one...I am just tired of jumping through hoops with no results at this point and thought a fresh start was in order.)
Anyway, all seems well now. The new user account seems to have cleared everything up except for the printing, but that is due to apple dropping appletalk support, so I will have to tackle that in a different way. Transferring my files to a new user was not as laborious as I thought because most apps have export/import. I am still looking for a way to change permission to large batches of files/folders that are nested. "Apply to enclosed items" does not do the trick.

I think it updated the system aswell.

On the computer go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if a backup is listed. If no backup then unless you backet up to iCloud then, as I said my first reply:

Downloading new version of itunes and it crashes my internet. Ipod touch will not run with out new version. Have done many system restores and reset internet settings but still crashes net when i download any version HELP please
