Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, connect its original thumbdrive, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

  • No application memory left.  Getting worse and worse.  My Mac Pro is basically unusable.  I am about to go back to a PC.

I am ready to go back to a PC.  I cannot use my computer.  I have lost photos.  Can't even download from carbonite to replace lost itemsk  because of lack of application memory.  It is driving me crazy.  This computer cost too much for this kind of thing to be happening.  Mine has been happening for over a year.  I can't get answers.

if your Mac is running that bad, there is something on your system causing this.
It would help us to help you if we could have some more technical info about your iMac. If you wish, Please download, install and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic reporting tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and technical support contributor named Etresoft.

It is not malware and can be safely downloaded and installed onto your Mac.

  • Applications open then instantly close - why and how can this be fixed

I have had my iphone 3gs for 4 days now. After downloading new app its was fine. But after the 2nd time of updating it on my itunes it began to stop working. any application that was downloaded to the phone will open and then instantly close...why is this and how do I fix it. I have restarted the phone 3 or 4 times and i have reset the phone to its original settings. but the problem happened again

It could be that one of the apps that you installed corrupted the memory that all 3rd party apps share. But there's also a very obscure bug that can cause this; the workaround is to download any free app to the phone, then reboot (hold HOME and SLEEP until the Apple logo appears). If this doesn't fix it connect your phone without syncing (in iTunes preferences on the Devices tab check "Prevent from syncing automatically"). Go to the Applications tab and uncheck all of your apps and sync. This will remove them from the phone. Then add back a few at a time to narrow down which app is causing the problem.

  • Mail app wont open. Have tried restarting, and it still kicks me out. Can anyone help?

My mail app doesn't seem to open. It starts but then it kicks me out.  I have tried restarting the device and the app but it makes no difference.  Its telling me i have 2 messages but i cant get in to read them.  Has anyone had this trouble before?

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

  • Why is it when I select my personal preferences/user/login items, that when i select the check box for items to NOT pop up on my dock when i restart and start my macbook air 11 inch that they still continue to?

why is it that every time i start up my macbook air and when i restart it, that the new office with word and those three other apps constantly pop up? even though i went to personal preferences/users/login items, and selected the box that clearly says "items to NOT be brought up when logging in" ?

  • I was using skype. Every application was working, but I couldn't control any application. Somehow managed to shutdown and start. Please help

I was using Skype, for more than an hour. I had safari running as well. All of a sudden Skype video got disconnected, then all applications started behaving strangely. I could not control any applications. System was acting strangely. Somehow managed to shutdown the system and restart. Please help

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
Skype issues should be posted in their forums and reported to their tech support department.

  • Open iCal automatically at OS X start up?

I may have missed a post on this in my search--is there any way to set iCal so that it opens automatically when starting OS X? Thanks.

I have set iCal as a login item, and it is "on" when I login. But, what I would really like is to have it open, on the screen, when I login, so it is the first thing I see. Is there any way to do this?

Create a file PurgeAllCache.sql and add the SAPurgeAllCache ODBC Function in it.
    {call SAPurgeAllCache()};
And save this file in a directory (for instance OracleBI_Home\Cache).
Then from a command dos, call nqcmd with this statement :
    OracleBI_Home\server\Bin\nqcmd.exe -d AnalyticsWeb -u Administrator -p Password

  • Opening files automatically in VBA and saving to PDF, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and I want to ask if there is any possibility to open automatically files in Adobe by VBA (Word files, Excel, etc.) and save them to PDF?  Or maybe it is a possibility to print them with Adobe PDF Printer?  If there is something like that can you give me a sample of code?
    Thank for your help.
    Best regards,
    Robert

    Thank you for your advices.
I already download Acrobat SDK before, but it's really complicated for someone who know only VBA at intermediate level.
I really plan to learn javascripts and COM in future, but I was thinking that if I ask you for I guess easy think (opening files and saving them to pdf) you will help by giving similar code or some clues.
Anyway I found  this two methods in documentation: PDDoc.Save and PDDoc.Open and I believe that a combination of them can finally help me. Do you know how I can connect them to one part?

  • File Open Dialogue has forward slash and starts up on A: drive.

    2.1.1.64
This is minor but bothers me each time I click file open.
    Click File -> Open
    File open dialogue appears.
SQL Developer tells me my A: drive is not accessabile after my A: hard drive makes a grinding noise. I almost forgot that little bit of info since I have not used the A: drive since around the year 2000. :)
SQL Developer puts a "/" forward slash in the file name box. Why?
    I have to press OK.
Then navigate to the C: drive or another drive.
Why does SQL developer want to open the A: drive and not go to a more likely drive like say C:? Then there would be no message and no having to click OK? My recommendation is that SQL Developer File Open dialogue start up on the C: drive or at least just show the directory structure and not make me click anything. Remove the forward slash from the filename field also.

At first this seemed to work. SQLDev would startup and open a file for me from the r:\ drive in its own tab that I was previously editing in a prior session. File->open would startup on the R:\ drive. However, with no file in its own tab on startup no matter what AddVMOption I put in the sqldeveloper.conf file from the link provided SQLDev starts up on the a:\ drive? Changing the "start in" dir on the icon on my desktop had no affect either.

  • Can't install Mavericks on new HD. It restarts and starts all over again.

    Good morning,
I have recently replaced my iMac's HD and have been trying to install the OS. For I lost the Snow Leopard install DVD that came with my Mac, I decided to plug in the old HD in through a USB dock to use the recovery partition (the only one that still works). It boots into it normally, the Disk Utility works like a charm, but when I attempt to install the OS, it loads a little, but then restarts without the bar being complete, and when it comes back up, it starts from the beginning, asking me for a default language. I do it all again, and it restarts too early indefinitely.
I've tried resetting it through the power cable, resetting the PRAM, but neither seem to work. I've also checked whether the partition I'm installing the OS to was already bootable, but it isn't. I'm not sure what it's wrong. Any input is appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Amanda

It is always best to have the original system discs that came with any Mac computer. At some point you will need those discs. In this case even if you are successful in reinstalling Mavericks you won't have the originally included iLife Apps without having to buy them from the Mac App store and not all of them are still offered.
I suggest you contact Apple by phone and ask to speak to someone specifically to order a Replacement Set of Original System discs. You will need the serial # of that iMac and there is a small charge for them. But in the end you NEED Those Discs.
As noted they may not help in your present situation.
I must ask why did you replace the drive? Did you need more space or was the drive starting to fail?
Since it looks like there is a cable going from the drive to the logic board.
    Photo from iFixit.com
If your original drive stopped working when installed inside the iMac but you can boot from it when in your SATA to USB Dock then it might be that the cable is bad and that is why the original drive stopped working and you are having problems installing OS X on the new drive.

Ugh, just to think I refused a Seagate offer because I thought I'd better use the same HD make the Mac originally had..
It's a mid-2010 21.5" EMC 2389. It did come with the drivers and OS X Snow Leopard install CD, that is now lost because I lent someone. Should I try to get a replacement for that? Are there more chances of it working without me having to tear it all apart again?

  • Mail app wont open. Have tried restarting, and it still kicks me out.

Seem to have fixed it by shutting everything down and restarting again. Thanks chaps.

Try to turn the iPad off for a while and then go on e-mail.
if that doenst work, go to settings-mail, contacts and calenders, then delete your mail account of the iPad.
After that, add the e-mail you just had on that didnt work and it should work.
If that doesnt work, go onto the settings-mail, contacs and calenders and fiddle around with that.
    Hope that works for u.

  • Automatic shut down and start up -

On my Torch I could set-up to have my phone shut off at 11 pm and turn on at 6 am. does anyone know if you can do the same with the Q10?

No, you can't do that. There is currently on auto-on auto-off feature on the Q10.

  • ICal events changing duration and start time after .Mac sync

I sync two OS X Tiger computers (10.4.2) using .Mac to keep my iCal calendars in order. Certain events following a certain date are mutating with longer durations and different start times after syncing between the two computers.
    Anyone experiencing the same problem?
    Any ideas?

    Two different problems here:
    Try one at a time:
Quit iCal. Delete iCal preferences in your User Library: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist ( you'll have to reset iCal prefs after)
For those having problems with .Mac sync, reset the sync System Preferences/ .Mac/ Advanced tab.
    Come back with results
