If your Mac is running OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
Select your user account, then click Login Items.
    Do one of the following:
Click Add below the list on the right, select an app, document, folder, or disk, then click Add.If you don’t want an item’s windows to be visible after login, select Hide. (Hide does not apply to servers, which always appear in the Finder after login.)
If you want to remove an automatic startup item,
Select the name of the item you want to  from opening automatically, then click Delete below the list on the right.

At what level do you want to do video editing?  There are a number of apps that will work with mpeg files available in the App Store, just search on mpeg.  If you want to do heavy duty video editing and work there is always Final Cut Pro X...but that costs $299.99 US...and will do anything and everything.

  • How to repair applications that will not start

I have programs that will not start on my iMac . I have never had one issue since purchased . Do I need to reinstall lion to resolve my issues?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Check with this compatability table, check with the specs of the program, watch for the "for 10.5+" that doens't mean it will work for 10.6 or 10.7.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Use the developers uninstaller if possible, if not consult on their site etc., what is the manual uninstall methods.
Some programs have to use a uninstaller.
Sometimes you can simply drag and drop the program from the Applicaitons folder to the trash and that will be that, others have other bits in the System/Library/Extension folder (dangerous!) that can be removed by hand IF you know what to look for.
Usually a program will have it's name or other id info in their files, one can use Easy Find to locate all these named files. However don't go deleting without backing up your data off the machine.
delete the wrong file and your Mac will refuse to boot up
I don't advise "app undelete" programs, they tend to make people think that the app undelete program knows the right files to undelete and it doesn't, it just does a simple name search.
    Good Luck

  • How do I turn off all the applications that open when I start my Mac up?

Everytime I start my Macbook Pro up, it opens all of these applications up.  I know there is a way to turn it off, but I can't remember how.  Can anyone help, please?

    Launch System Preference.  Click General.
Go to the section "Number of recent items".
    Uncheck the box preceding
"Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps".
    Restart.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to change the applications that load on start up?

I keep getting an error message that says no memory and to close programs on the start up disk. How do you do this?

System Preferences - User & Groups - Login Items - highlight unwanted items and then click the - symbol.
Also in Lion if you leave an application or application file running when you shutdown it will re-launch on startup. If you dont' like that, System Preferences - General - uncheck the box that says "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."

  • Easy question - hopefully: getting an application to open when starting up

I'm sure I've done this before, but just forgotten - how do I get an application (in this case iChat) to open when I switch on my Mac.
I use a PC at work so get continually confused....

Go to the "Login Items" pane of the "Accounts" System Preference.

  • Changing the application that a file type opens with

I have MSFT Excel and Subethaedit installed...
I want Subethaedit to open all "*.spad" files
I go to "Get Info" then go to "Open with:" then choose Subethaedit
Then I press "Change All...", a dialog pops up and asks if I want to apply the change to all documents of the form "*.spad", and I answer "continue" and then...
It ignores me; it drops Subethaedit from the list of apps to "Open with" and doesn't change the default format.
How do I force the type to change to the app I want? Is there a text-file I can munge somewhere?

Hi, thechao. Welcome to the Discussions.
It's possible your launch services database is corrupted. See my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ. Then try the procedure you defined earlier, which is also described in "Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Changing the application that opens a document."
    Good luck!

  • How do I change the default application to open files.

I am rather new to Mac OS (using Leopard). I am rather frustrated, that I have not been able to find a way to change the default application that opens PDF files. I looked around the System Prefernces, couldn't find it, searched the Web, nothing. And I could not find an answer in this forum either.
So here is my question. How do I change the default application for opening PDF files from Preview to Adobe Reader? I do not want to have to click "open with" every time, I want to open a PDF file.
And how do I do this for other files also? For instance, I may want to open images files with Photoshop instead of Preview.

Hey ! I was going mad with the same question - and I'm not a complete newbie - so thanks to William for answering it - I knew I'd seen that dialog somewhere, but just couldn't find it. Text edit was driving me crazy telling me that .ppt files were screwed, now I've got em to open with Powerpoint...
In answer to your last question, Craig, the dialog that appears to ask if you're sure specifically says the change will relate to all .pdf files ( or .ppt or .whatever ), so it won't stop Preview from opening other types of files.
Thanks for the help - searched Apple support in vain on this one...

  • Building an Application that reads html filename

I want to build an application that displays html files on the screen and when the user presses a button that gives a cue to the PCI-DIO-96 to give an o/p to external connected modular distribution panel that uses shift registers and from the panel (that's fed from a DC P.S.) to some bulbs. each html filename will be corresponding to a specific bulb.

    Hello Taher,
I apologize for the long delay in responding to your support request. We've had a restructuring and I unfortunately misplaced our thread in the shuffle.
There are a lot of great resources for each portion of the program you are wanting to develop. It sounds like you have several components:
    1)displaying an HTML file
    2)conditional logic
    3)digital output to DIO-96
You could display the HTML file in an embedded ActiveX control with a web browser (like Internet Explorer), if you are using Windows. There are several examples in LabVIEW that can help you do this, and you might take a look at the example at the following link:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=B123AE0CB9AD111EE034080020E74861&p_nod
    e=DZ52051
To accomplish the conditional logic that you need, you will probably want to use a loop and/or a case structure to determine which output port to pass to. To learn more about these structures, navigate to Help >> LabVIEW Bookshelf, and look at the Getting Started with LabVIEW manual. You can also find some great examples that use these structures by going to Help >> Find Examples and navigating to Fundamentals >> Loops and Structures.
The last requirement of your program, writing to the digital lines of your DIO card, offers a lot of possibilities. The best place to look when getting started with this type of program is again, to the example code. If you go to Help >> Find Examples, and navigate to Hardware Input and Output >> Traditional DAQ >> Digital Input and Output, there are quite a number of pre-written, working applications that you can start from.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you would like help on any specific aspect of your application.
    Good luck!

I've done disk permission repairs, as well as cleared the cache. The problem persists in other logins. The apps don't quit abnormally, they simply bounce once in the dock, then go away.

Do they have another Office on there?
Either an older version, or the Office Test Drive?

  • Which is Adobe product to be used for developing iPAD(IOS) applications that support PDF edit on the

    Question:
We would like to know if LiveCycle ES 8.0 supports development of applications for IOS devices like iPAD,...
Our requirement is to build applications that opens PDF on an iPAD, let the user edit and save the PDF.
If not, which other Adobe product does?
    Thanks,
    Murali

If you want to add text as comments, then a form created in Acrobat (Acroform) will work in Adobe Reader for iOS. It does not support forms created in LiveCycle Designer (XFA). There are also other PDF viewers that support Acroforms and commenting. So you don't need to create an application, just documents (PDF forms) that can be opened in an existing application (PDF viewer) that supports forms and commenting.
If you want to edit/add text that is part of the regular page contents of an existing PDF, I'm not aware of anything on iOS that does that and I don't think Adobe has anything that will help you develop an app that will.

  • Changing the default application to open memory cards

hi there, im trying to change the application that opens when i insert a memory card into my card reader. At the moment iphoto opens and slows my workflow down. can any one tell me how to change the application, or have nothing open at all when i insert the card?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Russell,
In your Applications folder, you should find 'Image Capture'. In its preferences, you should be able to configure what to do when a camera/media containing photos is mounted.
