Applications there but not there

Small problem. Just bought a new iMac. Copied my iTunes library in totality from my work MacBook Pro onto the new machine. Plugged my iPhone in to sync.
Everything works fine - it asked me to authorise new computer with my iTunes store account. Then it proceeded to remove all my downloaded apps off the iPhone.
The apps are showing in iTunes under "applications" but they are not being copied back onto the phone!
They are not visible under the "applications" tab in the sync manager.
Please help.

Well here's an update... I found an app called DockSpaces, I gave it a try because it said it could load new dock configurations and restore Apple default ones... Well it sort of has done what it advertises by at least restoring the default dock settings... the current state of my Recent dock stacks is that the Recent Documents & Applications are still blanks and unresponsive but the other recent stacks like Recent Servers, Favourite Volumes and Favourite Items have started working again... Now, I just have to figure out what the difference is a why the Recent Documents & Applications are not cooperating.
Never say "give up..." lol

IPhoto 6 - photos there, but not there!

Hi some help would be appreciated:
After some major issues, I had to wipe my HD, reinstall OSX 10.6 and then restore my system from Time Machine.
Things seemed to be ok at first. But now when I open iPhoto 6, although the file names of all my photos, albums and camera rolls are there, the photos themselves are not displayed. Instead, there is a blank square where each photo should be.
The strange thing is when I drag one of these photos onto my deskstop, I can open it and see it normally in other applications.
I've tried the rebuild cache option by pressing control + alt when I open iPhoto, but this did not seem to work.
Any suggestions?
Also, I am thinking about upgrading to iPhoto '11, but this seems to have had some terrible reviews. Have these problems been fixed? Is a new iPhoto '12 planned anytime soon?

Control(right)-click on one of the thumbnails and select Show File from the contextual menu.
If you've edited the photo then select Show Original File.
You should be taken to the folder housing the orignal and that original selected. Do you see the original? If you do see the original file then
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Songs there but not there??

Hi,
There is one album that I put on iTunes a long time ago that started uploading via iTunes match to the cloud at a time when I needed the bandwidth for something else, and I cancelled the iTunes match process while it was uploading. I thought I would run iTunes match again later so it could finish uploading, but when I went to run iTunes match later it did not start uploading the album again. The result is that there are some songs that are "there" but when you go to play them on any device (except my main computer with the original) it says that the song is not available. The song appears in iCloud, and on my main system it says that it is uploaded to iCloud, but the song recording itself doesn't appear to be, just its information.
I went on a second computer with iTunes with iTunes Match on and went and tried to delete the messed up songs from the cloud. It asked me if I wanted to delete the song from the cloud, I chose Yes and nothing happened. I am able to delete any other songs from the cloud with that second computer, and the delete, but with any of those songs they don't delete. It is like iTunes Match is getting confused because the song info is there but no recording, like it's failing to delete because there's no recording!
It's really annoying when I put my ipod touch on shuffle and it hits one of those songs and then the music stops because it can't play that song and comes up with an error message, and I have to hit OK before it will move onto the next song.
I have also tried to delete the album on my main computer and delete it from iTunes, and readd the aif files into iTunes and Update iTunes Match. It still doesn't reupload any of the songs because it thinks they are already there in iCloud.
Any help would be appreciated.

wait it is set to update manually, I dont see how that could affect me. i dont want it to automatically fill the ipod w/ stuff o dont want. or am i misunderstanding what update manuallt means?

Rtime Machine Backups there, but not there...

Our time Machine backups are no longer visible to Time Machine. 5 laptops backing up to 1 TB Time capsule - 4 10.5.x and 1 10.6.5. All the backups are visible on the drive but TimeMachine sees only one backup on my MBAir (10.6.5). Time Capsule is 7.5.2. My backup is 365 GB in the Time Capsule - drive is 256 GB. I can manually open the sparsebundle and see backups going back to October but TimeMachine see only 1 from a halfhour ago. I can see 74 backups in my wife's backups on the TC. When I checked her TimeMachine it needed to be reconfigured.
Did the 7.5.2 upgrade break something?

That's not a backup. That's the current contents of the Mac.

Contacts There But Not There/Mobile Me

Prior to my updating to 2.0.1 today I noticed my contacts are screwed up. The favorites list numbers but are not connected to my contacts. In my Contacts it shows names but no info at all. It will not Sync with my computer since I have Mobile Me. Any ideas.
On my computer Mobile Me will not Sync with my laptop because it says it is trying to sync with another computer, probably my desktop. How is this fixed, isn't Mobile Me supposed to be able to do two computers at once. This has been going on since I started using Mobile Me so I do not think these two problems are connected

i'm having all sorts of problems and finding it easier to eat my own head than get answers from mobileme.
my calendar in outlook has imploded and all sorts of things are syncing, then not syncing and disappearing and i'm really quite tired of it.
contacts i sorted out by hand on each device as they just did not appear to work from one platform to another. a real pain but it's all fine now.
the mail... don't even go there.
from what i can get from mobileme they are in a right mess with nothing working very well... particularly support. you can't even complain as there customer feedback site is down... just as well really.
one issue is that if you change things on your phone it might not sync back to the server but shold work the other way. and they recommend fetching mail as the push is "sketchy at best".

Photos there but not there!

When I go over an event's thumbnails, I can see all my photos. But when I click on the event to open it, some photos are missing. I have launched a slide show to see if they would all appear and sure enough everything was ok. Back to the event, and still can't find the ones missing. Where are my photos? Thank you for any suggestion.

X11 there but not there

Hi,
I thought I had x11 installed but I cant find it and an app that I am trying to use cant find it. I downloaded the installer from Apple, but when I try to install it, it says that newer software already exists. Im trying to use Darwine.

You cannot download an X11 installer for Tiger. The version you want is already on your Tiger DVD. Insert the DVD into the optical drive and when the window appears double-click on the Optional Installs package. Deselect all but the X11 package and click on the Install button.

iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

I had the similar problem last night and found a solution (although it takes more than a few clicks). Highlight all the album tracks in itunes on the pc and right click "get info". Check the artwork box in this window. I found that the now playing art was showing up in the itunes window, but on songs that were missing artwork showed nothing in the get info box. When I replaced the artwork by using the artwork command, or manually adding it into the "get info" window. It was annoying but my iphone updated every album.

I had Iphoto 08 and now is gone, I have under applications and is not there. Also most of the pictures are gone. Can you easily delete the application?

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
