Applied patch 6194129 for Report builder 6.0.8.28 WindowsXP

Hi hussein,
I have already applied the patch 6194129 for my windowsXP for Oracle Apps 11i reports and revision.
My Oracle Report at Linux Apps server is also 6.0.8.28.
I copied the report from the Oracle Apps server side (Linux) to my client PC windows XP.
Then I open the report and compile at test run. I did not do any revision yet, but just compile it at the client side.
But I got error:
REP-1212: Object 'Body' is not fully enclosed by its enclosing object".How strange this report happening can be.
I remember customizing report it R12 using 10g reports but they are not behaving like this. Can I compile my report using 10g instead? for Oracle Apps 11i?

The error message indicates that you are trying to apply a 32-bit patch on a 64-bit OS.
I understand you are running 11i on 32-bit OS, so have you downloaded the correct version of the patch?
Do you have the 32-bit version of gcc file installed?
Also, please make sure that ORACLE_HOME is set to 8.0.6 ORACLE_HOME (not to iAS_ORACLE_HOME as mentioned in the patch README file).
If all the above are correct, then you may proceed with the patch and see if it applies successfully.

Remote save for report builder

CF Report builder does not have an option to save .cfr file
to remote server (rds). I don't have CF installed on my client and
every time I make changes to .cfr file I have to upload to the
server.I wish they had remote save option for report builder like
CF studis or deamweaver.

My solution was to keep the cfr in the same place as the rest
of the application. Since when creating a cfr I usually have DW
open along with it, i just switch back to DW after a save and
upload the cfr from DW. Not really that big of deal, or I am just
used to now.

SQL Server 2012 - applying SP2 breaks SSRS Report Builder

Hi,
Had SQL 2012 (was 11.00.2845) and SSRS configured and working.
Applied SQL 2012 SP2 (server now at version 11.0.5058.0 (X64).
But when I goto the typical "http://server/ReportS_INST1 - reports still work ok, but clicking on Report Builder looks like it starts the download and then errors.
The error is "Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.".
Clicking on Details gets the message below. I understand it thinks it has a version mismatch, but anyone know what the resolution should be?

It seems to me somebody applied SP2 for SQL Server 2012 on an instance that has installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 CTP 4. CTP4 is not
the final version of SP1.

My suggestion is to uninstall SP2 (using Control Panel), download and apply SP1 from the following link, and then apply SP2 again.

Automatic Fill colors for Report Builder pie charts and graphs are too repetitive and hard to differentiate

I have pie charts or other graphs that show multiple results (7-20). I set the "fill" colors to Automatic so that the results are dynamic (I don't want to specify a color for each result because I will then be limited that those results--I
prefer it to be dynamic).
I noticed that once you get above 4 or 5 results, no matter which palette is used, the "automatic" colors are so closely similar that it is hard to differentiate which color pertains to which result (group). For example, you could have a
reports that breaks the results into age groups like 1-18, 19-21, 22-25, 26-30, 31-41, 41-50, 51-65, 66-80, and 81+. By the time you review the results, there's likely to be 3 pairs of colors (or more) that are so closely similar that you can't
tell them apart (2 shades of yellow, 3 shades of blue, 2 shades of orange, or green, or teal, or purple or whatever).
Is there a way to use Automatic for the color scheme (I don't care which color pertains to which category) but also specify to not use colors that seem to bleed together (so that someone viewing the report can actually tell the difference)? Using SSRS

Reporting Services provides a list of predefined, built-in palettes that you can use to define a color set for series on your chart. All built-in palettes contain between 10 and 16 color values. You cannot extend the built-in palette to include more colors,
so if you need more than 16 colors, you must define a custom palette.
A custom palette let you add your own colors in the order you want them to appear on the chart. A custom palette is especially helpful if the number of series in your chart is unknown at design time. For more information, see

Error using Excel as a DataSource for Report Builder 3.0 - ODBC connection

I'm getting this error message below while trying to use excel as a datasource within Report Builder 3.0. I can see the columns and rows but unable to display/run the report. Using Excel 32 bit and have the driver and user dsn created under c:/windows/syswow64/odbcad32.

I have commercial experience in migrating Crystal Reports to SSRS. When performing any type of migration it is always wise for the business requirements to be revisited. It is likely that the business requirements may have changed since the Crystal reports
were initially developed, etc.

Hi Prashant,
Yeah LDB is a good way of implementing Structural auth. Apart from that you can assign the Authorization Group in the Z-report attribute. So users who are part of this group only can access this report. This also applies to the standard reports as they are already assgned to standard Authorization Groups.

Hi all,whenever i am trying to run a report in web layout,a Firefox window opens and displays the home page of ff and i get a error message in report builder stating that Failed to locate the browser,try connecting again.

Need to apply PATCH&HF for other nodes??

I got one confuse. I have host A to be DB HOST(ORACLE 9205), Host B& host C to be cluster nodes for EP6 SP2 PATCH4 HF7. I installed portal & CM on HOST B, applied PATCH4 HF7, then applied CM PATCH 4 HF5. very thing work fine than I installed addtional dialog instance at host C.
the problem is , when host C 's server node startup, there is a CM startup error in the console log. the error msg. is :
com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException: CM Startup failed: CM startup failed: Failed to init. connection pool configuration: Failed to init. connection pool configuration: missing plugin /cm/utilities/connection_pools
I make sure the config_local.properties file is ok, SAPWCM's password is ok too.
after I install the dialog instance, I didn't apply any patches for host C , is that right? please guide me

My problem is due to I got 4 server nodes, the connections to the ORACLE is too much. There is a note mentioned how to increase ORACLE's default process and session no. Search "oracle process 80" at OSS you can find that note.

Port already in use Error right after applying Patch 1 for Coherence 3.6

I'm having an issue with Patch1 of Coherence 3.6. I am not able to start two DefaultCacheServer instances. Its giving me the following error when I try load the 2nd one.

It looks to me something to do with ExtendTcpProxyService. I have that hardcoded to go to 9095.
Do you have any work around for this issue?

I am seeing a similar problem (not sure if 3.6.01 related since I have only tried with this release yet - I always run on the bleeding edge on my dev machine).
If I do NOT specify tangosol.coherence.localport explicitly I get a message that 8088 is in use. If I understand things right should not Coherent try to increment the port number (I have even tried seting tangosol.coherence.localport.adjust to true explicitly) but this does not seem to happen.
It gets even stranger since when I run the Windows command that checks for open ports 8088 is not listed as in use....
The same thing happen if I specify 8088 explicitly (still no auto increment).
If I however explicitly specify another free port (say 8089) it works...
Really strange...

CountIf Expression for Report Builder 3.0

I have been trying to create a countif type expression in a table to count the number of items that have the status "Complete". I used one i found from a previous conversation, { =sum(iif(Fields!Status.Value="Complete",1,0))
} but this gives the wrong output.
Can anyone help me with something that will count the number of items that are marked as Complete in the status field?
