Apply color correction to all footage by changing one color?

Hello everybody,
I have two versions of the same footage which I want to synchronize and make one video out of them. By masking, I've put one on top of the other and I'm synching the footage, but the colors are slightly different in the bottom one (a bit brighter). I've tried to correct it using several filters, but even though I get some really good results changing the values (I'm using Brightness and Contrast right now, but I've also tried Color Correction, HLS, Hue/Saturation...) they're not as good as I'd like.
In several moments, for example, the sky appears, in both layers at the same time. Is there any way I can make the bottom layer correct the sky color into exactly the one in the top layer, so the changes I make in the HLS of that color apply to all footage? That way the color changes would be perfect.
Maybe this is easy to do, but I'm a beginner at After Effects so I don't really know how to do it. Online tutorials don't seem to help much either.
Thanks!

I've been using the re:Match plug-in for similar tasks with success. It costs $90 but there is a demo version you can try out:
http://www.revisionfx.com/products/rematch/
and also a tutorial from Andrew Devin:
http://library.creativecow.net/devis_andrew/AE_RE-Match/1
You can also match footage in Speedgrade, but I haven't tried that feature yet.

  • How to apply a fade to all video, not just one element.

Hi. Ignorant here. New to FCP X and pretty new to video editing.  I'm doing green screen stuff and I want to fade everything up from black. Trying to match the speed of the transitions is tough.  I'm assuming there's a function to control the whole video component, not just per element...'Little help?
    Thanks.

Thanks Tom.  Yep, that works.  That was my next go-to but I'm reticent to create compound clips as I'd imagine there's a lack of individual control at that point.  Perhaps that just makes one plan one's workflow. I was hoping there was another way but hey, compound clips are easy to work with and can always be separated when you need to manipulate them individually.  Thanks much.

  • Apply color correction to the sequence, not clip

Is it possible to select all clips in the sequence, then apply color corrector, or brightness/contrast filter _with a specific setting_ to the whole sequence?
Currently when I select all in the sequence, apply a correction through effects > video ... etc, then change a setting, it will only change the setting one clip from the sequence.
I know it is possible to work around this and do it with one clip and then paste attributes, but if there's another way, please let me know.
    Thank you!

    Michel,
That's a great idea, why didn't I think of that? Thank you for your fast reply, I got it near instantly on the iPhone and was laughing at how simple and smart a solution you had!

  • Photoshop document with smart objects changed when I apply color profile. Why?

I work in Photoshop with smart objects. When I apply color profile smart object are changed. For example change filter or change size. I dont now why?
    See image

Yes, fortunately, I am a Windows user, but I don't want to start a religious war here And it is also possible to run multiple versions of Adobe products simultaneously under Windows - why shouldn't that be possible? Currently I have CS3 and CS4 and somtimes use CS3 when CS4 is just too buggy to get the job done. Before that I had CS and CS2 on the same machine.
But I wouldn't keep all versions back to PS 6.0 or CS, that would be a bit too chaotic and I'd had to spend days of installing if I get a new computer. I expect those programs to be a little bit backwards-compatible, so I don't have to use many different versions. And for Photoshop, this is mostly the case. It's just very tiny details like Smart Object resizing that seems to work differently.
Otherwise I'm really happy that in CS4 I can finally link Masks to smart objects and apply warp and perspective on them, that's a big plus!

  • Applying object style to all objects in a project?

In Cp4, it was possible to change the style of an object and then apply those changes throughout the entire project.
How is this accomplished in Cp5?
I have set up a default style for captions but it seems like I can only change the style of individual captions (one at a time) in the properties of each caption.
Is there a hidden "apply to all" feature in Cp5?
    Thank you

    Hello Lilybiri,
I really tried to follow your example but it simply did not work for me.
    >Supposing  I already have a lot of Text Captions and decide to change their style,  which can include font,
    >caption style, alignment, colors....
    Yes.
    >All  Text Captions up to that moment did use the Default Caption Style as it  was set in
    >the Object Style Manager...
    >If you want to change object styles for future projects you  have to set them in the
    >Object Style Manager without any project opened.
This is problem one. I have one standard caption style for all my courses. I have changed the default in the Object Style Manager with and without a project opened. The change simply doesn't stick! Additionally, I have exported a new style to a .cps.
Let me pick through your instructions:
    1. First, I open a project.
    2. I open the Object Style Manager and notice that the default caption style is back to the original Adobe default (Adobe blue).
    3. I import my new caption style. The style is called NewTextCaptionStyle.
    4. On the first slide, I select the first text caption (in Adobe Blue).
    >I then change one Text Caption  to  the new style and a + sign appears next to the
    >Default Caption Style as you can see in the screenshot.
How do you come to that?  The moment I go to the first slide and select the first text caption, it already shows: "+[Default Caption Style]" I have not changed the caption style yet. If I select my desired caption style (NewTextCaptionStyle) from the pull down menu, there is no "+" symbol. I cannot follow this step.
In an attempt to interpret your instructions, I went back to the Object Style Manager and changed the default caption style to what I need.
Okay, now the [Default Caption Style] is exactly what I require.
Back at the first slide, I select the first caption (which is still Adobe Blue). Now, I can follow your first step.
    >There are 2 quick ways to proceed now:
    >1. If  you will not use the original Default Caption Style anymore in this  project (it will have no consequences
    >for other projects), use the Save  icon (yellow highlighted) to save the changes and have a new
    >Default  Caption Style that will automatically be applied to all Text Captions  that are already created and
    >new Text Captions will get the same style  too.
I will follow your first method.
    1. I select the Save icon. [Save Changes to Existing Style]
    ... it doesn't work. ????
I wonder... the project that I am working with were converted from Cp4 recordings. I wonder if that is causing my grief?

  • How to apply lens correction profile to multiple images at once?

I have a quick newbie question and I couldn't find an answer in a brief search that I did. Is it possible to apply lens correction profile automatically to multiple images at once? For my RAW images, LR automatically detects the lens and applies the correction profile for an image if I manually click on "Enable lens correction" option under Develop module (in the right pane where adjustments are made). However, I would like to do this to multiple images all at once.
    Thanks,
    Osho

Be careful using develop setting synchronization for lens profile across mutiple images! This allows applying an incorrect profile (i.e. Canon 17-40mm profile with synchronization to images shot with multiple lenses) First use the 'filter' tool to make sure you select images shot with only one (1) lens type. Then follow one of the procedures here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WS0E6E6886-E223-4050-B6E0-A97B5B62EF7D.htm l
You can also change the "default" develop settings with 'Lens Profile' option checked and then save as the "new default" setting. LR will then "automatically" apply lens profile correction on import of new images.

  • Auto-will this apply lens profiles to all images in ACR when a profile exists

I would like to know if I hit "Auto" under  the Lens Correction Tool in Adobe Camera Raw, will that then set up Adobe Camera Raw to apply a
lens correction profile to each image that I process, when such a lens profile is available in the database?  I have read one or two threads on this topic and I am still not sure that "auto" does what I want, versus default; the situation becomes even trickier I think if you edit the settings below this tab, and want those choices to become a default. I am very confused by all the various "if you do this, then this will happen, but not if you set these to other choices, and so on".
Perhaps "Default" does what I want to have done? In any event, I would like to know which setting will do as above and apply a lens correction profile every time that one is available.
    Thanks, Debra

Yes, if a profile can be found that matches, it will be applied, at 100% for all three sliders.
Conversely, if you for instance don't want your fisheye to be defished, you open an image taken with that lens, move the distortion slider to 0%, and save that as a new default. Now, "Auto" would put the distortion slider at 100% while Default will leave it at 0%.
If you don't make any changes to the standard settings and don't save any new defaults, they are both identical.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • Applying Lens Corrections Across Entire Import

When I choose an image, one of the first things I always do is apply lens corrections. In 99% of the cases, I don't have to tweak these. I'm shooting with multiple camera bodies, and an import normally happens from hard disk, but it would be wonderful if during the import Lightroom could apply the lens corrections that correspond to the lens/camera body used for each image imported.
A preset seems like it would have to know or assume the camera body/lens combination in advance. That's why I've initially ruled presets out. Do I have this right or would a preset honor the camera/lens combinations from image to image?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I agree with everything stated here, but use a workflow that may work better for you. I reset my lens profile default settings to 0% Distortion, 100% C Aberration, and 50% Vignetting, and then select 'Lens Profile Corrections' as a part of each camera body's default Develop settings (Develop>Set Default Settings>Update To Current Settings).
Here's my rationale based on processing 1,000s of images in LR shot with numerous single focal length, wide angle zoom and telephoto zoom lenses:
    - Distortion is normally only visible in pictures that contain distinct straight line objects. My Canon 17-40mm L lens has fairly high barrel distortion at 17mm on my full frame 5D MKII, but I rarely see it in critical architectural shots. When I do apply 100% distortion correction with this lens at 17mm, the objects near the frame edge and corners become noticeably stretched or elongated. In addition these "corrected areas will be cropped from the picture where they now extend outside the original frame. You will lose part of your picture image and reduce the resolution of the file slightly. In the vast majority of the pictures shot with many different lenses I prefer 0% Distortion correction as my default starting point.
    - Chromatic Aberration correction using the LR Profile Correction setting at 100% works very well for all my lenses, with no redeeming visual side effects or need to change it on individual images.
    - Vignetting varies greatly from lens to lens and by focal length, but I haven't found a single image that benefits from using a 100% Vignetting setting. You should also be aware that even the very best extreme wide angle lenses (24mm and less on full frame, 15mm and less on 1.6 crop) usually exhibit significant vignetting, and image softness in the corners due to uncorrected astigmatism, coma and field curvature. A 100% Vignetting setting will correct the vignetting at the expense of making the corner softness much more apparent. For all of my lenses and bodies I prefer a default Vignetting setting of 50% as a starting point. I only adjust those images that still have visible vignetting on an "as needed" basis.
    Your mileage may vary!

  • Apply display properties to all  prompt pages

    Hi,
I am using obiee 11.1.1.6. I have 1 dashboard and 2 pages in the dashboard . Page 1 of the dashboard consists of 1 Dasboard prompt and 1 analysis. Page 2 consists of the Same prompt as Page 1 and different analysis based on the prompt . When I take use a prompted link of the dashboard and use  the same link to the differnt IE( interent ink tab)  prompt of Page 2  doesnt not work . The selection is not working for Page 2 but works for Page 1 . I have defined the scope of the Prompt to be a Dashboard level. And the icon of apply display properties to all prompt pages is gryed not and doesnt allow me to select anything. What might be the issue

    Hi again JaredA
I'm not trying to be a PITA here, but if you edit a Text
Caption and click the Help button, you should see a topic titled:
Text Caption properties dialog box - Text Caption tab
Inside this topic, there is a line that reads:
Apply properties to all captions in the movie: Select this
option to apply the changes you made on this tab to all captions in
the movie. (List of properties that are applied, and are not
    applied, to all caption items)
And note that the word "List" is a hyperlink. When clicked,
    it reads:
The following properties are applied to all caption items if
    this option is selected:
    * Caption style
    * Font type
    * Font size
    * Font color
    * Transition
    * Show caption before mouse movement
The following properties are not applied to all caption items
    if this option is selected:
    * Text and text properties (bold, center, and so on)
    * Time
Granted, it does not explicitly say that the callout pointer
direction will not be changed, but as it is not listed among the
attributes that ARE changed, I believe that's a pretty decent hint.
Personally, I believe the issue is one of simply becoming
familiar with the way an application behaves. My guess is that it's
not all that common that someone would want to change all the
caption directions, hence the design. But it's just a guess on my
    part.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Clicks and visual interference from all footage from xf 300 mxf files

I'm having problems with clicks and visual interference from all footage from xf 300 mxf files in CC have formatted cf cards on camera as this has happened before and had camera checked with no problems has anyone else had this problem as cannot find anything anywhere. The cards are Sandisk Extreme 32GB and the manufactures say its not their card??

Kevin, thanks for your prompt response.
I've finally had the time to try this again and understand it.
I wasn't using the media browser. I was using the import function from the Project panel, which is how I have always loaded clips. I had never used the media browser and assumed that one ended up using it anyway no matter which front end used for import.  i.e. I thought the media browser was simply the back end file selector dialogue.
So I see that (only) the media browser will import spanned clips as one unified clip into the sequence, which is an improvement for sure. I do think that import of the Project panel should work the same way.
I initially had a problem though, as my top level directory above the numbers clip dirs was not CONTENTS. It had to be renamed to avoid conflict with other CONTENTS clip set in the same project. So the media browser refused to load the spanned clips together, but would allow me to load a single clip. It wasn't until I guessed, and renamed my top dir back to CONTENTS that things worked and the the View as dropdown showed the magic Canon XF option.
I suggest this implied requirement be made clear in the manual, noting that the top dir must be named CONTENTS for this to work. Yes, I believe that's the MXF standard, but many people will rename their parent directory so multiple cards can be copied into the same project directory, instead of having yet another single-entry directory above the CONTENTS directory, like CARD1 CARD2 etc.
I beieve that the software is at fault and should be changed - if it can see mutliple numbered MXF dirs at the same level, it should simply deal with them. I know you can't fix that, but please warn people.
Anyway, thanks again for your reply. It got me on the correct path to a solution.

  • Applying note corrections

    Hi All,
Can someone please tell me the correct way of applying note corrections associated with a particular note. I see differen kind of objects - meth, func etc. I know that you have to go to the particular code and then add & delete some code. which transactiosn to use? and what to do for different objects.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
no in Tr. SE24 you can manually changes classes. It is not recommended by SAP.
Start Tr. SNOTE >> Click on Note-download (CTRL + F8) >> enter the note number -> Execute (download).
New you can find this note in the list of new notes, or if note look for it with the Note-browser (CTRL + F9).
Click on execute. The remaining steps will be self declaring.
    >> The correction instructions apply automatically. But you still need to follow the manual steps!.

    What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.
