Apply Custom Cropping to a Whole Batch

Is there a way that you can crop a whole batch of images to a different aspect ratio, such as 8x10. To where you can then just sort through the batch while the crop is highlighted on each image and move the image with the hand to the position you want each one, without having to hit R on each image to make the crop active?

Weird. I'm sure I responded to this but don't see it anywhere.
> Linda, I didn't point you towards Sync, but towards AutoSync. So you have a bunch of images selected, maybe enlarging the FilmStrip so you can see the effect on other images, and then apply your crop. AutoSync applies it to all of them.

My apologies John. I was multitasking with a few too many tasks earlier. I should have paid more attention. Anyway, I'll experiment with the AutoSync feature to see what you mean.
Thank you!

CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

    Hi Kglad.
I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)
here is the new tutorial for CC -  my guess is they have scrapped the control we had over the custom crop settings

  • Apply same crop across clips

    Hi,
Can someone explain how I can apply the same crop across clips - I want to re-frame my whole film. When I select all the clips in the timeline then apply my crop in the canvas, it only crops the first clip in the timeline.
As I used a tripod I want to apply exactly the same crop on all my clips in the timeline.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Dan

Scale and position the image the way you want it. Copy it. Select the other clips and use Paste Attributes Opt-V and apply the basic motion that you changed.

  • Custom Name isn't working properly in the apply custom name preset

The custom field in apply custom name keeps the same name you put in when creating the preset.  Shouldn't it leave the "custom" part of the name empty and ready to fill in whenever you apply that preset to a set of clips?
I set it up with the custom name of "Fog-Road".  Obviously I don't want to rename every clip in my collection to those words.

Well, in spite of no replies, I continue to investigate this issue.  It turns out the behavior is not different on my desktop and laptop.  Instead, some files work for the web ID plate, and some don't.  I can't figure out the pattern.
Here are some samples I've been playing with.
The first three files do NOT work as an ID plate and are blank on the web page.  The last three files do work.
The first file -- yellow logo -- is Index color mode, but when I change it to RGB it still does not work for the ID plate.  The two text-only files -- "another test" and "test two" -- were made in PS with a new file, add text, flatten, save.  They do not work.
The three files that work -- the last three images -- were made from a JPG with just a crop, then add text, then fill the bkground with black.
Why the first three don't work and the last three do is a mystery.
Maybe now someone here will have a clue.
Thanks to anyone who might be listening.

  • Custom cropping

I have an image in my iPhoto library that is 1000 pixels wide x 429 high. I would like to split it into four images, each representing 1/4 of the image, from left to right, i.e., each one would now be 250 wide x 429 high. I could do this "by eye" by making four duplicate images and estimating the location(s) of the vertical slice(s) I want to make. But is there a way to use the custom crop constraint so that the proportions remain in the proper ratio? (I guess I would still have to choose the places to slice by eye). There's an article in apple.com/support (ID TA27698, from June 2007, so maybe not up-to-date) about custom constraining -- it says that the custom constrain value is a ratio, not a specific pixel value; but the custom constraint control offers one setting at "1000", which does suggest accuracy to three significant figures.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The aspect of this problem that remains ambiguous to me is the actual usefulness of the dimensions I put in the boxes that appear when I click on custom. By this I mean that I can indeed type in the 250x429, but then nothing useful seems to happen -- if I hit "apply," I get a cropping that has nothing to do with the vertical shape of 250x429 that I just typed in.
If I merely uncheck the constrain box I can customize the crop area and keep any section of the image I want, without having gone to the trouble of setting the customized proportions (or actual dimensions). If I then hit "apply," I do get the crop I want (although I would like it to be precisely reproducible for the next three slices of the image). So this leaves me wondering about the actual use of iPhoto's invitation to customize my proportions. This is not intended as a criticism, because I could be wrong in my interpretation of what the custom constraint mode is designed to do, or how to get it to work. And I am aware that other software may be better suited to my needs. But I'd like to understand exactly what iPhoto is offering here.
    Thanking you in advance...

  • Problems with custom cropping

I'm evaluating Aperture 3 as a replacement for Lightroom and am looking for help with a cropping problem, which is a potential show-stopper. My requirement is to provide a set of images for a web site that are exactly 386x240 pixels.
Using the Crop Tool, I define a custom crop ratio of 386x240 for the first image, and apply it. Then using the Lift & Stamp tool, I apply the same crop ratio to the other images.
Next steps in the workflow are to adjust the crop area on each image, then export the group of images to "fit within 386x240".
But when I go back through the images to adjust the actual crop area, that's where the problem comes up. Aperture chooses NOT to remember the custom ratio of 386x240 I have applied to each image. Rather it replaces that ratio in the Crop Tool with it's pre-defined "Main Display Aspect Ratio" of 1920x1200, and applies that ratio when the crop area is adjusted! As a result, the exported image ends up the wrong size.
So it seems Aperture is making an incorrect decision about the existing ratio when adjusting the crop. (My ratio is close to the Main Display ratio, but not the same; my ratio extrapolates to 1930x1200, not 1920x1200).
I'll admit to being new to Aperture with version 3, but this seems like a bug. Shouldn't Aperture remember the exact custom ratio I initially applied to each image? Is there anything wrong with the steps in my workflow? Any ideas as to how to make this work? Thanks.

Wow...if this has been going on since Aperture 2 then Apple's engineers either (1) don't care, or (2) think they have a useful "smart" feature. Unfortunately, when software tries to be too smart it sometimes fails. On the surface, this is a simple fix. If an image custom crop ratio is not in the predefined list, LEAVE IT ALONE! Don't make any assumptions on the user's behalf and change it to something that isn't wanted.
Also, as discussed in a related thread, the lack of a capability to save and manage custom crop ratios for use in the future is another shortcoming in cropping functionality.
Aperture 3 has a lot of great features going for it, especially as compared to LR2. Unfortunately, cropping isn't one of them.

  • Custom cropping using pixel dimension

The banner image module for my website requires images cropped to 940 x 400 pixels. When I use the Custom cropping function in PSE 12 (on a Mac OSX 10.9.2), it only shows a cm dimension. Can I do a custom crop using a pixel dimension?

You should just be able to type 940 px and 400 px in the width and height fields
Another way is to use the Rectangular Marquee Tool and use Aspect>Fixed Size then enter 940 px X 400 px

  • Lightroom 4 custom crop boundary area display

We post hundreds of sports photos at a time.  We set a custom crop 7.5x10 which most closely enables all our supported print aspect ratios (4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.).  We have to be careful that the important photo elements are NOT in the boundary area inside the crop.  I mean we need to keep space inside our standard crop so that regardless of which print size you pick that the trim (either top/bottom or sides depending on the print) will not cut of important photo elements.  It would be very helpful if we could have Lightroom 4 display this boundary area with some type of shading.  That way when we do the crop we can see if an important photo element is in the boundary area, and then we can increase the crop.  Our objective is as tight a crop as appropriate while preserving the boundary area.  A visual cue would be most helpful with this work.
I'd appreciate suggestions about how to accomplish this if it is already possible or have Adobe engineers add the visual cue for a configurable boundary area inside the crop.

I understand what you are getting at. I went into PS and created a series of shape layers at the specified ratios and then centered them. I then expanded each proportionally so that there long side was 10 inches. On a portrait oriented photo there is a portion on the left and right that cropped on a 5x7 or 4x6. I tinted the shapes and then masked out the center area. I then save this as a .png file with the intent of using it as a watermark. This worked but is an after the fact confirmation.
While in the crop tool you can press the "O" key and rotate through different crop guides. The last one is a grid. (works the same in LR3) When I had the crop aspect ratio set to 7.5 x 10 (which LR4 simplfied to 3x4) this shows for me as a 12 wide by 16 long grid. Coincidentally, the crop danger zone appears to be very close to exactly one grid in width.
I don't know if this is a "close enough" solution for you.
**** I'm glad I didn't hit send before going back and looking at LR4 again. This works on a full size image with a maximum size crop. But if you starting shrinking the crop the grid size changes. Now if Adobe could maintain the grid so it ALWAYS shows in say 10 percent increments, then your danger zone would always be the left most and right most 10 percent.

  • Apply custom name not working correctly

Wow... I am beginning to lose hope, again, that FCPX will ever be relatively bug free.
When applying custom clip names in 10.1, the software is very buggy and gets some things flat wrong.  For example, if you create a custom clip name with a counter, and you apply that to a set of clips, it doesn't show that change in the even browser unless you hit apply twice.  Then you see what you expect, but as soon as you click in the browser, the names change to a counter collection that starts counting with the lowest number in the new sequence starting at  the next number in the sequence from the original set. Hard to explain, but if you have 5 clips, and you start from 1, then on first click there is no change to the clip names, on second click you get a sequence starting from 1 and ending at 5 (what you want), but when you click on the event browser the clip names change from 1 - 5 to 6 - 10, presumably because you had to hit the button twice in the first place.   That's rediculous.
Also, applying orginal camera name doesn't work correctly for all clips.
Also, saving new custom names with names (changing from "untitled" to a name like "outside sequence #") works intermitently.
This reminds me of the old custom naming bugs in 10.03 - .06.    Come on, Apple.  Does anyone test this stuff before it's released?

Correct.  But the behavior I describe is correct too.  And one people should be aware of as they are likely to encounter this if they don't do as you described, click off the clips, but instead hit the apply custom name button more than once.  Buggy

  • Can we apply custom validation before uploading data in WebADI in 12.1.3

    Hi,
I have requirement of applying custom validation before uploading data from spreadsheet using webADI. How can we do that.
Is there any way in desktop Integration Manager Responsibilty in WebADI.
I have just started exploring webADI
    Please Help Me...
    Thanks,
    Suhani

Why are you posting this in OAF?
Anyway you can by creating a custom PL/SQL wrapper that is called by the WebADI.
Raise an application ERROR in your wrapper and it will show in the WebADI
If you just want to validated VALUES, you are better of creating an LOV on the Column. Then WebADI will do the validation work for you.

  • Left over of Sales Order creates new planned order of whole batch

    Hi Gurus,
We are using planning without Assembly strategy (52) and Sales order is created in our sales plant and Purchase order from sales plant creates STO on manufacturing plant which than produces material using process order.
Now sales order says 5000 EA but actual production is if 4985 EA in Manufacturing plant which is transported into Sales plant and sales plant receives 4985 EA which keeps sales order of 5EA in the system
When MRP runs overnight creates planned order for left over quantity and it is of whole batch 5000 EA. This confuse our planner.
Can anyone provide me the solution please?
    Regards,
    SAPPPPI

    Hi,
For strategy 52 FX never works so we have lot sixe "EX".
We have set up tolerance limit of +/- 10% but when less quantity is received (4985 instead of 5000)  from manufacturing plant system thinks there is an open sales sales order of 15 and creates a new planed order.
If we have materials 4980 in stock and we create  a sales order for 5000, tolerance will be considered for this and there won't be any open sales order but in our case Sales order allows us to procure and when GR quantity is less than sales order it is treated as left over and create planned order.
Please help me by replying if any one knows.
    Regards

  • Remove Custom Crops

When you create a custom crop in the develop module it shows up on crop list under "Enter Custom..." Is there a way to eliminate/delete items in this list?

It's in the catalog. You need a SQLite database access tool.
    To view:
    > SELECT * FROM "Adobe_variablesTable"
    where name = "Adobe_customCropAspects"
    To delete:
    > DELETE FROM "Adobe_variablesTable"
    where name = "Adobe_customCropAspects"

    True -- BUT
Any work around with this issue?
    Yes - since the crop is really just a ratio you can enter 55 x 40 and achieve your results (or 550 x 400 -- or 55000 x 40000)
Also, is there a way to save a custom crop and have it show up in the menu?
I do not believe there is

  • Applying a formula to a whole column

    Hi,
Is there anyway to apply a formula to a whole column?
I have three column's in a table: Hours worked, Rate and total earnings for that job (=Hours worked x Rate).
I've set it up so as I can enter the information in a form and if I create a new entry in that form, it automatically adds a new row to the table. The only trouble is that I can only use "Fill" to copy the formula to the visible cells. If a row is automatically added, the formula isn't extended.
I'm currently using the Numbers App on an iPad 2.
    Thanks Jake

    JM,
The iOS version is young. It seems to lack the brains to extend the formula when rows are inserted or when the table has a row added at the end. The Mac version takes care of this. The rule on the Mac version is that if every cell in a column has the same formula in it, that formula will be replicated in the new rows. I'm very new to the iOS version, but nothing I have tried for this has worked except to Copy an nearby cell and Past it to the new row.

  • Custom Cropping in Lightroom

I want to crop my images to 840 px by 473 px but when I enter those numbers for a custom crop in Lightroom it defaults to 16x9.  How can I change this?
I've tried ratios close to 840x473 and multiples of that combination but nothing allows me to get that exact ratio.  I need this ratio for formatting on my website.  Any help would be appreciated.

In Lightroom, you don't crop to pixel dimensions, you crop to aspect ratio and then EXPORT to pixel dimensions as near as possible at that aspect.  If you want to crop to pixel dimensions you will have to use another program, do a lot of draging the crop corners around, or use Rob Cole's XMP CROP plugin.
840X473 is less than one pixel width of aspect ratio off from 16X9 so I can't see why it would cause a problem.  Lightroom tries to HELP by rounding the aspect to one in its list and this is really only a display bug/glitch.  It actually rounds when the numbers are even further off than this.  I agree that if you input 840X473 that Lightroom should just leave the aspect alone.  This behavior causes problems/bugs to show up in other places with the crop tool.  See posts #30 and above in this link.
