Apply Layer Overrides Option and Output Preview

Recently I found a problem when using apply layer overrides and output preview options.
If I open a layered document and apply layer overrides. Then go to output preview under print production menu, all the content in my hidden layer shows up. I know that the "apply layer overrides" command resets the settings for all layers including hidden ones. Just wondering if it's possible to not show layer content when doing output preview? or is it possible to disable the "apply layer overrides" option?

See if clicking Reset All Warning Dialogs at the bottom of Photoshop>Preferences>General resolves the issue.

Restore "apply layer mask" OPTION?

There's a new feature where you can opt to drag a layer mask to the trash and NOT be prompted to "apply layer mask?". This also has the "do not show again" option -which I clicked by accident. So the default is now to apply layer mask when I drag a layer mask to the trash. I can't think of any way to restore the more traditional function, without restoring all other prefs.
So what I would like is a way to restore the more classic default where dragging a layer mask to trash give me the OPTION to apply or discard.
Please excuse this seemingly insgnificant request, but this is a very common function that I would like to restore.

Acrobat X and XI and Output preview

User had CS 6 installed with Acrobat X on her mac workstation. also installed Adobe Cloud with Acrobat XI. Once the install of Adobe Cloud was complete, the user was having issues with her Output Preview screen. The Simulation Profile field defaults to Adobe RGB (1998), though she continues to chance to GRACol 2006. I uninstalled Adobe Cloud and Acrobat XI, but the problem persisted. I uninstalled CS6 and Acrobat X. I reinstalled CS6 and Acrobat X but the issue with Output Preview still existed. My thought is a setting file on the workstation is causing the continual problems with the Outlput Preview information. Has anyone experienced this and found a workaround? There is info on the web that indicates it is a bug with Cloud but no workarounds.

Applying multiple blending options to same layer?

How could I apply multiple layer blending options to a single layer? Currently, when I select a blending option and switch to another, it removes the previous blending option

You can duplicate the layer and set the top layer to the second blend mode. Or you can create an adjustment layer, and set its blending mode to the preferred second mode (this will blend a merged visible copy of the layers below back into the visible stack). It depends on what you're trying to do. In general though, blending modes are a blend of one layer's pixels into a merged visible copy of those below, so adding two modes to a layer seems to me impossible.

When I download PDFs on my macbook I am given the option of saving them to iCloud and in Preview they are listed under iCloud. How can I then view them on my iOS devices? Help please.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't share preview files to an iOS device. There are several other options for pdf's such as Adobe Reader or iBooks.

How to enable standard actions and print preview in Output management in FU and FO in SAP TM9.1

This is regarding the Output management on Truck load scenario.
I have maintained configuration which is related to output management in Freight order type (truck load).
Configuration is :
Output profile : " /SCMTMS/TOR" and
Add. Output Profile “ /SCMTMS/TOR_PRINT_ROAD”.
Results: I have created a Freight order based on the FU ( Sales order ) , go to output management tab in FO, I can see only one Action status that is “Shipping Instruction” .
Expectations: I am expecting couple of other FORMs like HBL and label and etc which is available in “/SCMTMS/TOR_PRINT_ROAD”.

Also, When I am executing “List of Actions” by manually I can see all of above actions in popup screen but by default “scheduled condition” check box is checked on “Shipping Instruction” not rest of them.

Dear Surender,
For PPF customizing you can follow SPRO path -> Cross application components ->Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications->Reusable Objects and Functions for BOPF Environment ->PPF Adapter for Output Management->Maintain PPF Settings -> Select the application '/SCMTMS/TRANSPORTATION' -> Define action profiles and Actions.
Select the required action profile (Here in your case /SCMTMS/TOR or /SCMTMS/TOR_PRINT_ROAD)-> select the required action definitions -> Make sure 'Inactive' checkbox is deselected against the required action -> Choose processing types -> Here you can assign a new form. You can also create new action definitions and assign forms accordingly.
Then go back and go to 'Condition configuration' ->Choose the required action profile -> Check the Start condition and schedule condition. Make sure you have 'Schedule automatically' radio button selected under overview tab.
Print preview is also called as Document preview. To my knowledge this tab should be displayed default with standard under Output Management tab. Document preview will appear upon selecting the action in Output management tab. If not appearing just check the WD component customizing or personalization.

Acrobat DC and XI different Output preview; same setting on the same machine

Hello,
I've got an question regarding Output preview
My sample PDF does have different output preview values on Acrobat DC (100% Black) and Acrobat XI (CMYK values)
Both use the same setting (Euroscale Coated v2), doc has no PDF/X output intent
Still..... it's strange that on one Mac the PDF does look different....
What's going wrong?

Numerous fixes went into color display on MacOS for Acrobat DC as well as in Output Preview in general. That having been said, I don't recall any changes that would have resulted in the phenomena you are seeing.
I assume you were clicking on the “black” circle to get you sample color values? And what do you believe should be the correct values? CMYK=(0,0,0,1) or CMYK=(0.8,0.64,0.67,0.75)?
If you can post a copy of this file, we can examine it to see what is going on.

I was using adjustment layers for color correcting and now my adjustment layer is just staying white and I've looked at so many forums and i can't find what I'm doing wrong...
I reset my preferences, I made a new project I'm clueless.

The first ever Sync of 12,000 songs to an empty iPod will take a while, but it shouldn't take two days.
Once all 12,000 songs have been Synced to the iPod, subsequent changes to just one album will result in a very short Sync time. That Sync will include:
the change to that one album
play counts on iPod updated into your iTunes Library
Smart Playlists updated: some complex Smart Playlists are not always updated by the iPod but have to wait for a Sync with the Library.
housework - in other words, behind the scenes tasks that we don't need to see.
Those subsequent Syncs do not sync every single song every time.
So, stick with Syncing. If the first Sync of all your songs is taking too long, try syncing part of the Library (say one or two genres) the first time, a further part the second time and so on. After all, with a Library that large, manually managing the iPod will be a source of torture.

Understanding and applying color depth options in PS CS5

I was reviewing a very helpful tutorial about bit depth. (Here's the link, in case anyone is interested: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/bit-depth.htm).
I'd like to get a better handle on how PS CS5's choices (Image>Mode>8,16 or 32) actually affect my work. I think I may be having trouble relating how settings in the .psd file I'm working on affect a final image that might be output as, say, a .png file. Here are some of the sources of my confusion:
If I open a new .psd document, I find that 8-bit RGB color is the default. Given that 8-bit is VGA, and it takes 24-bit to display True Color, I was surprised, first, that PS nicely displays a piece that I started in a 3D modeling program--a piece that has some photographic texturing of animal fur and horn (a bull). Those are fairly subtle gradations. Moreover, it displays it on a transparent background. It seems unlikely that I'm looking at 256 colors.
If I were to upload a .png file to some printing companies (e.g., CafePress), they want PNG24, not PNG8, and, in fact, my 8-bit RGB .psd file can be exported as PNG24. So, I gasp in wonderment at how my 8-bit .psd file can export to PNG24. I understand the simple math to bits per channel and bits per pixel, but it doesn't translate to an understanding of how bit depth actually imposes limitations or opens possibilities when creating and outputting images.

16 bits PER CHANNEL.
32 bits PER CHANNEL.
24 bits is meaningless, but usually intended to mean RGB (3 channels) of 8 bits per channel.
PNG 24 is more correctly called PNG RGB 8 bits per channel.
PNG 32 is RGB plus transparency at 8 bits per channel.
(PNG also supports indexed color, and 16 bit per channel modes).

Sharpen in "workflow options" and "Detail" tab

how does the sharpen within workflow options relate to the sharpening applied within the detail pane?
Does one override the other or would the sharpening be additive?

In my opinion, the workflow options for output sharpening in ACR are rather awkward to use. One advantage of parametric editing is that the edits are stored in the ACR database or in the XMP file in a compact form without the necessity of large and possibly multilayered TIFF files. After making the required edits, one has repurposable masterfile that can be used for derivative images.
However, when one uses the ACR output sharpening, the dimensions of the image and the resolution must be determined in advance. One then has an output file that is suitable only for printing that specific image, and repurposibility is lost.
Furthermore, the output sharpening in ACR requires the setting of the resolution in pixels per inch. When printing to a relatively large output size, one usually renders the image at the native resolution of the camera and then sets the image dimensions of the picture without resampling. In the ACR workflow one must manually calculate the needed output resolution from the intended output size in inches and the native resolution of the camera in pixels.
For example, if one is using a Nikon D3 camera with a resolution of 2832 x 4256 pixels and wants to print on super B paper with a short axis dimension 12.5 inches, it is necessary to predetermine the required resolution in pixels per inch by dividing 2832 by 12.5 to obtain the needed resolution of 227 pixels per inch. One enters this value in the ACR dialog box.The result is an image that is suitable only for printing at that size.
Personally, I would prefer to use ACR to make a repurposable masterfile which can later be resized and output sharpened as necessary. Currently, I use PKSharpener for this purpose.
It would be nice to be able to store several possible output options in the XMP file or database, and this is currently not possible. For example, one might want to store settings for 8 by 10 or 11 x 14 inch prints.

"Object has visibility layer override" .. how do i stop this?

using CS3...I understand what makes this come up but dont understand how to make things update...
Here is one example where this comes up. I have a bunch of business cards with each being its own file, each with a 2nd layer to it that is just the cut area border around it. When I print each card, i want the cut border to show for the customer. When i go to actually print, i will put them all on the same sheet and print at one time. I do this by dragging the ID files into the document that will have all the cards. Of course any changes made to the individual files will automatically (sometimes manually) update on the sheet with all the cards. The only problem I run into is if after I add these cards to the sheet and they still have those borders on it, I then have to go into the individual files and turn off the layers that have that border but this will never update in the linked file on the document using it. Instead with layers, I get this yellow and red eyeball that seems to say "Object has visibility layer override". The borders will still show on the document its linked to but the individual file, the borders are not there.
How do I get the files using the linked ID files to read just as the individual files are without showing those layers? The only way around this I can find is to remove each card, turn off the layers in the individual files, and put the cards back on...which doesnt always do the trick, but still. Thanks!

Select the link on the page, then go to the layer visibility options dialog. There's a filed there to keep or update the layer visibility when updating the link. Perhaps you need to change that.

Acrobat 9 Standard missing Output Preview in Advanced...

Hi,
I find it weird that I can't find the Output Preview option on acrobat. I go to Avanced>Print Production>Acrobat Distiller???
Don't have a clue what Acrobat Distiller is, so I try going into Tools. Nothing. Then I try bringing up the Help and even that doesn't want to come up.
Does Acrobat 9 even have an Output Preview? I need to use it for checking CMYK pantones and such. After Google searching I'm desperate

I go to the 'Print Production' menu and the only thing on the menu is 'Acrobat Distiller'
Where is Output Preview and all the other options? Where have they gone?
This is driving me nuts - can anyone please help or suggest a reason why? The only other Adobe application installed in Acrobat Reader X. Machine is running XP Pro. Everything is fully updated.
