Applying 2 Presets to a Photo...

Can I apply 2 presets to a photo to create a more unique look?  Similar to something like applying 2+ actions in Photoshop?  If so, how do I do it?

It depends on the presets. If both contain the same "type" (Exposure, Fill Light, Blacks, etc) of develop adjustments then the answer is no because the develop adjustments in the second will replace the first. For example, Preset 1 has develop adjustments for Exposure  10, Fill Light 5 and Blacks 8 is applied to an image you then apply Preset 2 with develop adjustments for Exposure 7 and Fill Light 8. The resulting image will have develop adjustments Exposure 7, Fill Light 8 and Blacks 8. You will notice that the only adjustment from the first preset that remains is for the Blacks. The Blacks remained because the second preset did not include any adjustment for Blacks.

  • How do I apply a preset to multiple photos

I thought I could apply a single preset to multiple photos, I know I can apply the presets during import, but I selected multiple photo's and clicked on the preset, but the preset was applied to only one photo, what am I doing wrong?
I'm using LR 2 with Leopard (Intel)
    Thanks.

I am not sure about Mac but on Windows, select the files Ctrl button and click the sync button at the lower right side. It should then change to Auto Sync and any changes you now make will be applied to all the selected photos. Make sure you change it back to sync mode when you are done, use Ctrl and click to reset. There may be other ways to achieve this.
See the post by John this should be easier.

  • How do I apply a preset to multiple photos at once using Lightroom CC

This is a feature I used to use a lot within Lightroom 5, in the grid view, I used to select all the photos I wanted to apply it to, right click, Develop, then find my preset and apply it.
This seems to either have moved or gone from Lightroom CC?
    Here's a screenshot of what I mean...
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
P.S I don't want to use sync as that's not exactly what I'm after which other people have suggested.

When you installed LR CC 2015 did you upgrade your earlier catalog? Normally everything should transfer including presets but you may need to copy from your previous version if third party presets have not installed.
From LR CC 2015 click the menu:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> Presets (tab)
To show the system location click the button “Show Lightroom Presets Folder”
You can then double-click on Lightroom and again on Develop Presets. Drag your Kellie Hatcher folder into Develop Presets.
On Mac the default location is usually:
    Macintosh HD\Users\User Name\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Lightroom
    Windows – go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> Presets (tab)
    Default location:
    C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom

  • Applying develop presets to multiple photos

Is there a way to do this. If I select multiple photos and click on a preset, it only applies it to the first one. Using copy & paste or Sync is not an option as I see it because one does not know which settings to tick / untick in the copy or sync dialog boxes to get the same results for each photo. Ticking all settings will do more harm than good if I understand it correctly.
Am I being daft or is this a shortcoming of LR 1.0 ?

Or in Library module, select all of the images, and right-click and
select Develop Settings and choose your preset. You'll also find them
in a dropdown list in the Quick Develop panel in Library module.

How do I apply same adjustments to multiple photos at the same time?

You can't but you can copy the adjustments made on one photo and apply/paste it onto another by:
1 - Control (right)-clicking one the edited photo in the Edit mode and selecting Copy Adjustsments
2 - Control-clicking on the next photo and selecting Paste Adjustments.

  • How do I apply a preset to multiple images at once?

I'm almost embarassed to ask this, because it seems so simple. But I'm new to LR and need some help.
I want to apply a preset (exmample, a preset that resembles film) to multiple images at once. (similar to batch editing in Photoshop) but I want want the white balance etc to necessarily be the same, obviously. Please help!

Select all of your thumbnails in the develop module film strip or in the library prior to going into develop. Then turn on Auto-Sync. Any adjustment you make to your first image will be repeated on all of the selected images. Or just perfect your first image and choose sync. You will see a pop-up dialog and you can choose exactly which develop settings you wish to sync e.g. white balance only or white balance and other settings.
To be clear Auto-sync will apply all develop settings on the fly to all selected images.
Sync will apply the settings from the first selected image to all of the subsequently selected images unless you choose exceptions. For example you may wish to apply exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows from your perfected image but not the crop settings.
Don't forget to turn off Auto-Sync when you have finished otherwise it will affect future editing.
P.S. There is no such thing as an embarrassing question. The beginners forum is designed entirely for that purpose.

  • Applying Animation Presets from Adobe Bridge?

I haven't used this feature in a long time, so I don't know if this is a configuration problem on my PC or something I am doing wrong. In the flyout menu of the Effects and Presets panel, selecting ""Browse Presets" brings up Adobe Bridge. If I double click on a preset, say the apparition background, AE shows:
After Effects error: Can't import file "Apparition.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension. (0::1)
However, if I try the same thing using the Animation menu->Apply Animation Preset->Open->....Apparition.ffx, it works fine.
    AE Version: 13.1.1.3
    Bridge Version: 6.1.0.116 x64
    Windows 8.1

There's an issue with the installers for that version. The wrong script is involved. I don't have the link to the page explaining it, but if you do a search through these forums for other people with the issue, I'm sure you can find it.
Until it gets fixed in an update, don't use Bridge to apply animation presets - just use the effects and presets panel in AE or the menu option as you're already doing.

  • Is there a way to apply LUT's to a photo in Lightroom?  Such as .cube, Vision Color, etc.

Is there a way to apply LUT's to a photo in Lightroom?  Such as .cube, Vision Color, etc.  I have some film stock and Osiris LUTs I like to use for video that I'd love to apply to RAW still photos in Lightroom.  I know it's possible in Photoshop CC but the process would save me time if it's possible to easily do in Lightroom 5.  Anyone know?

Unfortunately, you can't do it in LR.  You could add your vote and opinion to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Ability to use 3D LUTs.

  • Applying settings preset to multiple images in ACR v4.3

When attempting to apply a preset to multiple images in ACR, the preset is only applied to the "current" or "active" image. The other images in the thumbnail pane remain unchanged, even though they are selected. This function works correctly in Bridge, but not in ACR. "Synchronizing" the files does not do the same thing, as my preset incorporates "Apply auto tone adjustments." What am I missing?

Pardon my misunderstanding of the question. I just tried it, and the method of selecting the images has no impact (e.g., the "select all" button, or hold "shift" or "ctrl" and click on multiple images...)
All the boxes are checked in the "synchronize" dialog. However, this synchronizes all of the settings to the "active image," which ties the tone adjustments to that image, which is undesirable. I just want to automatically adjust the tones (as part of my preset) to all of the selected images.
Based upon input from this tread, this is the refined procedure I use to "check" if it's working (which hasn't for me so far):
    1) Select multiple images (or all, if you prefer)
    2) Apply "camera raw defaults" Note that the settings default to Blacks: +5, Brightness: +50, Contrast: +25
    3) Apply a saved preset (saved with the check box "Apply auto tone adjustments" checked).
    4) Note that the Blacks, Brightness, and Contrast sliders only "adjust" for the "active" image, but don't change for the other selections. They remain at Blacks: +5, Brightness: +50, Contrast: +25
Again, if I perform this procedure in Bridge, it works for all selected images. However, in ACR, it functions as described above.
    Does that clear it up?
Thanks for the prompt responses so far. I hope I'm simply doing something incorrectly!

  • Auto Apply Custom Color Palette to photo?

    I have two questions:
    1) Is there a way to automatically capture colors from a photo to automatically create a custom color palette? (for example, if I want a color palette of 20 colors, it would automatically pick 20 colors and create a palette).
    2) Is there a way to take a custom color palette, and automatically apply that palette to a photo?
(I don't want to just use the color picker to choose my colors....I am looking for automation)
    Thanks!

I'm not sure... maybe I could use index colors.... I will look into that. I have found some "color palette generators" online, which I need to investigate also. I just thought that maybe there was a feature directly in photoshop that might work.
Attached are sample images. I would like to automatically take a color palette from the lilies, and apply those colors automatically to the forest. I would like the forest to have the same color scheme as the lilies, so that the two images would look very similar.

  • Applying a preset after Auto Tone

When I import a large batch of photographs (2000+) I want to firstly run Auto Tone to get the exposure in the right ball park. Once this is done, I want to apply my own preset. This adjusts most of the settings, EXCEPT exposure which I want to retain from the Auto Tone step. However, this does not work as expected. If I apply the preset with all images selected it seems to process the request, but when I check images individually it does not make the changes! Similarly, if I apply the preset to a single image and then use sync to apply this to all of the other images it does not update the other images with the same settings. Grrrrrr! If I apply the preset to individual images then it does work, but obviously with 2000+ images this isn't really an option..
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a bug with using user presets on top of Auto Tone?
(As a side note, I've tried running the user preset without first running Auto Tone - it works perfectly as expected. So is there some sort of a glitch with running a preset after Auto Tone?)

When you are applying the Preset are you using the Auto Sync feature. See the screen shot. Hint, if you turn this on make sure you turn it off after you are finished.

  • Why is iPhoto applying one keyword to all photos?

I have been meticulously adding keywords to a very large group of photos to help organize them. A few times now, a keyword I applied to a selection of photos - maybe 100 out of thousands - ends up applied to my entire photo collection. Anyone know what I did, if anything, to make this happen? It's a real drag, considering the only way to fix the issue is to remove the offending keyword from all of my photos in one fell swoop and then go back and re-do the ones that I DID want tagged. So frustrating!
The last time it happened, I had checked after applying one keyword to a few hundred photos, and they grouped together perfectly when I ran a search. Twenty minutes later after working on some other keywords, suddenly all of my photos had the keyword that had just previously worked fine.
Love to hear your suggestions and ideas.
    Thanks,
    D

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
That does seem extraordinary. I can see how that might take an hour or so, but nothing like that long.
Here’s a test. Grab a folder full of those images and drag it to the desktop. See how long that takes.
Then try import the same folder and compare the time. (It will take a little longer with indexing etc)
This will tell us if the issue is in iPhoto on more general.

  • Can I apply two presets

I'm a newbie and can't find the asnwer. I need to make enhancements to about a hundred pictures, and want to do it with presets. I want to brighten (using Auto Tone) and enhance (using either Direct Positive or Medium Contrast Curve) it looks like only the last preset gets applied. Do I have to apply one preset, export the pic, import it again and apply the next preset? Or am I missing a way to apply both>
    All help is appreciated.

    Hi Louise,
Overlapped settings of one preset will overwrite (replace) previous adjustments, regardless of where they came from.
The quick develop section is the only way to apply bulk adjustments in Lightroom which takes previous adjustments into account.
Note: auto-sync mode is absolute too (adjustments made in auto-sync mode discard previous setting in favor of new common setting).
If you want to apply presets relatively (cumulatively..), or make other bulk adjustments not supported by quick develop section, you have to use a plugin.
I use Gazoo, which is free, and I wrote it, but there are others if you prefer..

  • Can't apply Animation Presets in After Effects CC(2014)

I'm no longer able to apply any animation presets to my type. When I try, this dialogue box appears:
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Yes, you can apply animation presets. You just can't do it through Bridge. See this thread:

  • How to Create and apply adjustment preset for printing

How can I create an adjustment preset that I can apply to images before I print? In Photoshop CS3, it's easy: I just create an action. But how do I apply a preset that simply shifts existing settings a relative amount instead of applying absolute settings that overwrite image-specific settings?
The problem is that my Epson R1800 and its profiles output images that have a yellow shift to them. What I want to be able to do is apply a +5 shift to the shadow tint (camera calibration) and a +10 shift to the WB tint on top of whatever settings I already have after development.
    Any ideas?
(and yes, I do use colour management, my monitor is calibrated, and I instruct LR2 to manage colour and use the profile specific to my printer, paper, and print quality setting)

No ideas here? Surely someone must have wanted to apply an adjustment to compensate for a printer's tendencies or the different dmax, shadow detail, and colour temperature of various papers and illuminant sources (incandescent vs daylight fluorescent, sunlight), or at least use different tone / contrast settings or different amounts of sharpening (before the new print sharpening facility appeared in LR2).
