Applying a Certain Effect to EVERYTHING

I'm just trying to sharpen the image of all the clips in my video. Is there a way I can apply it for the whole thing without actually dragging and dropping the "Sharpen" effect and increasing it's intensity to 10 for every single little clip? Cause that would take quite a while.. If the only way to do what I have in mind is the long way, then please just say so, lol.

I went to the support link at the top of this page. Premiere Pro had a big link near the top of the page. I clicked it.
On the page that appeared, I clicked on the link that said "Product Documentation".

LiveType Crashes Previewing Certain Effect - lib3ivxEnc.dylib

Hi,
I've used LiveType before (with FCE) and have now installed FCS2 (with FCP 6, LT 2.1.3 etc.). However, poking around the LiveType text effects - the application always crashes on me when previewing certain effects. For example if I launch the application, go immediately to the "Effects" tab of the Media Browser, then click on "Barrel Jump" the beach ball appears and I crash with an error saying the problem appears to be with the lib3ivxEnc.dylib plug in.
I've updated the SW with all the updates - still crashes. I followed the FCEHD removal instructions http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301182 (improvising on the way for other FCP pieces), reinstalled the suite again last night, left it unpatched and still no joy. Though I have noticed that without the patches applied the app will sometimes show me lines in the preview and remain up. I've even once used the effect in some sample text but then it crashed again later when I started to go through the Media Browser again a few minutes later.
I've tried different accounts on my machine - but LiveType still crashes, so it's not a user setting/config thing (or doesn't seem like it).
I've done a number of searches in this forum and Google in general and have not seen this reported before - so I'm assuming something in my setup is messed up and causing this.
I'd love to know if:
a) anyone has an idea of what might be wrong or what I can do to correct
b) has full FCP removal instructions in case there is some piece still hanging around that I haven't found and is not being overwritten during the install
c) has advice to reinstall just LiveType and it's components instead of the entire suite
The only thing exciting in my setup is that the LiveType support files are all on an external FW800 drive since my startup drive is around 30GB and won't hold it all without busting open.
I've considered a fresh install of Leopard and then FCP to see if that works - but I'd love a less timely solution if possible.
I've not installed this on my Laptop (not sure it meets the specs) to see if it's reproducible there but might to see. Right now this is all happening on my PowerMac G5 (Leopard 10.5.1).
Let me know if I've left out any details to help you understand the issue better and if you have any suggestions.

I think I'm making progress.
I again tolled the system for FCP components using the FCEHD article. I think I ended up removing a bit more than last time. I also tried the 3ivx uninataller and it failed So I simply trashed the 3ivx folder in apps and again the 3ivx software in the folders referenced by the Apple article.
This time when I started the FCPS2 install, all components listed themselves as "Install" instead of a few showing "Upgrade" before. I installed only LT this time and after the installation I ran LT and the effects worked fine! Whew!
I've now restarted the install for the rest of the FCPS2 apps and we'll see if everything works OK afterwards. If not - then other part of the suite is causing the issues.
Good point about permissions - I've not done that in a while since I've been deleting and installing so I'll be sure to do that after the install completes.
I'll post again once the install works (or doesn't).

Is it possible to apply a stroke effect to a Photoshop image in After Effects?

I've imported an image (a maze) from Photoshop into AE, and I want the image to appear as if it's being drawn in using the Stroke animation. Is it possible to apply some kind of path along which the image can "fill in"--similar to how you can do this with text? I didn't see a way to convert the image into a shape layer on which I could apply the Stroke effect, either.

Followed everything you said up until using the solid as a track matte, where I got a little confused.
The effect worked more or less how I wanted when I set the starting value of the stroke at 100% and set track matte of my original image to Alpha Inverted. When I did this, it gave the effect that the solid was disappearing to reveal the original image, if that makes any sense.
Is there anyway to adjust the brush shape? Right now it is a circle, is it possible to change it into a square? The circle brush gives an awkward edge line as the lines of the image begin to appear with the stroke effect.

Applying a magnify effect

Hi, I have a sentence of text and I would like to have a scaling up (magnifying effect) running across it. I would like to apply a magnify effect where the actual layer itself becomes larger rather than a magnified duplicated segment ontop of it becomes larger. You could also use the Magnify Effect but if you're using it on a text layer you will need to add a solid below the layer and then select both the text and the solid layer an pre-compose them. Then you'll add the Magnify Effect and animate the center position.
Another option would be to apply the Magnify effect to an adjustment layer. This would work if there are layers below the text. Now everything below the adjustment layer will be magnified.

you need two istances of the same piano (exs24 Logic patch are great)
use fine detune (pitch) only one of the two piano istances.

Trying to achieve a certain effect...

Hi,
I'm trying to achieve a certain effect in Motion 3, whereby the camera slowly does a full spin whilst zooming in on the video, but I can't seem to find the right method. The 'Spin' effect seems to go too fast, and what I am looking for is similar to a Pan and Zoom effect...
if anyone knows what I'm talking about, is there any way this effect can be achieved?

Sounds like you want the Sweep behavior, which will rotate the camera while keeping it's point of view fixed. You control the speed by trimming the duration of the behavior.

Applying the same effect to multiple clips.

I have a piece of video split into parts on the time line. I'm trying to apply 1/ A continuous time code, using "time code generator" and the "viewfinder" effect.
Is there a way of applying these effects at the same settings to all 3 clips at the same time and also making the time code run continuously?
I've noticed when i apply these 2 effects to the individual clips with all the same size settings, they appear different on each clip.
Any ideas?

If I read your question correctly I would suggest adding the filters to one clip and then copy the clip.
Then highlight the clips you also want those effects on and control-click and select paste attributes and check "filters".
Here's the problem though with you wanting to use continuous timecode. The timecode generator won't deliver what you want if you're cutting and moving clips around the timeline. For that you would want to use Timecode Reader instead

How is it done? Let's say I have a Space Designed reverb that I have applied to a lead vocal track and I want to apply that same effect to a background vocal track without having to open another Space Designer and tune it the same as I've already done on the lead vocal track. Also what is the consensus on the pre- packaged vocal reverbs in Space Designer.

Adam is right - put SD on a bus, and send to that bus from those tracks you want the same reverb. This will also save a lot of CPU processing - multiple instances of SD will tax your system.

As with any presets, they are intended as starting points - suggestions, if you will (just like speed limits), as somewhere to start and tweak from. Several SD presets are actually quite nice, especially some of the old plate reverbs.
One little SD trick: to cut down on processing, halve the sample rate while retaining length. This will cut down on overhead if you have multiple SDs on several busses.
Also, remember that in vocals, especially multi-track backing vocals, you can get nice effects by submixing a vocal mix and applying reverb to that submix.

Go to the Custom shape tool and look for "Banners & Awards" library. In that there is a flag shape.
Drag out the shape, and simplify the shape layer
CTRL+left click the layer thumbnail in order to load the shape
Open a blank layer layer at the top, go to Edit>Stroke (outline) selection. Place the stroke inside, width to suit (try 20px)
Turn off visibility of Shape 1 layer, or delete it
