Applying BW 3.50 patch 3 for sapgui 7.10 to a installation server

Hi All
Im applying a few patches to a 7.10 installation server, everything works fine , except for when applying the BW 3.50 patch 3 for 7.10 GUI to the server .. well applying the patch actually works , but afterwards instead of having only 2 products to choose from on the first hierarchy level (Business Explorer and SAP GUI for Windows 7.10), there is suddenly 6 products instead (SAPGUI for windows 7.10, Engineering client viewer, bw 3.5 addon, kw addon, tweak gui and business explorer).
The real question is .. before applying the patches, I had a package called "complete" which included both available products, after applying 3.50 bw patch, the original package still contains the same two products, but is that adequate ?? or should a new package be created that includes ALL products available after the patch ?
Or .... is the original package completely patched ??
I have never before seen a patch apply additional products to the installation server ....

The patch can always be installed in 2 ways.
1. Do a cd and then run opatch
cd <patchlocation>
opatch apply
2. Else specify the patch location as an argument
opatch apply <full path to the patch i.e the one you do cd above> ...
Both the above styles yield same result.

Why is auditd going crazy after applying Jan-2015 security patches for Solaris10 ?

After patches applied the auditd is writing appx. 1 GB of data in log file in 4 hours on a system with nobody logged in. Auditd was restarted via cron to save log and start new one, then was ok for a period. Later the same day went crazy again. Ideas ? Thanks

This should not. Please check the audit log file and look if a specific entry is written again and again

Installation of Oracle VDI 3.4.1 fails at applying the Sun Ray patch

Downloaded VDI 3.4.1 for Solaris, checked md5 OK against download page, attempted a freash installation rather than upgrade and it failed at applying the Sun Ray patch.
Solaris 10 u9 x86 full installation with recommend patches (OK its a ESXi 64 bit virtual machine, but need to test before I try it on the real hardware)
Fresh installation of Solaris & patches (automated via JET), which works fine for installing VDI 3.4
VDI 3.4.1 fresh install

I check the log file and its failing to install patch 149156-01, looking at the patch log there is a message about attempting to install the same architecture and version of a package which is already installed, then a message from checkinstall "........<full patch to check install>/checkinstall: cannot open"
So has anyone else actually downloaded and installed Oracle VDI 3.4.1 on Solaris 10 u9 x86 successfully?

OK went back to Oracle VDI 3.3.2 and it was still a problem on this machine. Turns out I made /software where the media is installed a ZFS partition with a quota of 5g (which hasn't hit a limit, its used less than 1g).
So the real question is why Oracle VDI won't install from a ZFS partition?

Root is a ZFS partition and unzip -q works fine (I summed all files in both structures and they are the same). There is something in the vda-install that breaks due to it being a separate ZFS partition.

Does anyone have BP14 installed and diagnostic dashboard working? I put BP14 on our 9.1.0.2 sandbox, and diagnostic dashboard broke. We are on WebSphere 6. Problem is when you log in, you get an authentication error.

Does update connection proxy store patches for other servers

I have following set-up ( all running sol 10 )
Server A : E250 , has connection to internet. runs update connection proxy and update manager.
update manager uses update connection proxy on the same server to get sun patches. This server is registered on SUN web site.
Server B: V440 NO connection to internet , runs update manager which connects to update connection proxy on SERVER A.
Suppose a patch becomes available for a Sun Driver that I have installed on SERVER B but NOT on SERVER A .
Will the update connection proxy running in SERVER A download the patch for that driver and pass it to SERVER B update manager to be applied ? Altough SERVER A does not need that patch ?
I would expect the answer to this to be YES , otherwise I do not see any value of running update connection proxy !!
Is anyone able to answer this ??

Yes - The primary purpose of the Sun Update Connection Proxy is to provide patches to machines (like Server B) which cannot directly reach the internet.
In a nutshell, you should see no difference in the behaviour of Update Manager on Server B when pointing it directly at Sun, and pointing it at a Sun Update Connection Proxy that in turn points to Sun.
What will happen is:
Server B: will run analysis against the full patch set, and decide which patches are applicable to Server B. It will recommend any patch that meets the appropriate criteria for Server B. If a patch is recommended, you can select it for installation, and Server B will then request the patch from Server A, if Server A doesn't happen to have this patch already, it will in turn "proxy" this download from Sun, cache the patch and return it to Server B.

I am trying to apply a weblogic patch on SOA server but facing an error while applying the Opatch . I checked the accessibilty to opatch inventory by using the command % opatch lsinventory . This executed fine and there were no errors. But when I try applying the opatch I get the error -that some jars missing . Even if I replace the jars and try executing opatch again I face the same error . I googled a lot but couldnt find any solution . Please let me what can be done for solving this error .

Errors on applying PSU patches for GI (Grid Infrastructure) 11.2.0.3

Need help!
This is all in the version of 11.2.0.3.   We created a single node GI with ASM by the user grid.   Grid home is /grid/product/11.2/grid/   And oracle home created by user oracle at /oracle/product/11g.    I have downloaded the GI PSU patch 16742216 for GI and Oracle DB PSU patch 16619892.   I just want to apply the patch to GI home, then Oracle home with different PSU.   Here is what I did after unzip the patch for GI:
1.   Stopped ASM instance and stopped listener (these are owned by grid)
2. Created a ocm response file at grid home by grid user:   $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp   -no_banner
3. Use the root to run grid profile to setup grid GI environment
4. Use the root to run as (as described in Oracle instruction): opatch auto /home/grid/patches -ocmrf /grid/product/11.2/grid/OPatch/ocm/bin/ocm.rsp
But got this error.   For some reason it looks for Oracle home, not grid home, although I do not have any oracle home environment setup in root user:

Thanks for the update. I have tried with chmod -R a+rwx on the patch location.   But got the error (different error). Here is long detail message in /grid/product/11.2/grid/cfgtoollogs/opatchauto2013-08-13_06-35-35.log

When I run the command as root, the ORACLE_HOME is set to /grid/product/11.2.3/grid/   which is the home for GI.
Then check in the log file: /grid/product/11.2/grid/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch2013-08-13_05-35-37AM_1.log

Patch level for SAPGUI 7.10 in ECC 6.0

Hi all,
we are upgrading our ECC 6.0 SP 13 to SP18. Actually SAPGUI patch level is 4; is there a matrix compatibility or a link in order to check with patch level for SAPGUI is recomended.
