Applying BW Patch on Solution Manager

Hello Experts,
I have few doubts:
1. How to apply BW patch (BI 7.0)on Solution Manager(3.0 or higher)
2. If we apply BW patch on SM, how does it differentiate from BW system(Data Model, Reporting etc)
3. Are there any websites or pdf files for SM with BI Patch.
4. And, why do we need to apply apply BI patch on Solution Manager?
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards,
Thangjam

Hi Thangjam,
I have only some infos for SolMan 4.0:
- there is no difference between patching a 'stadalone BI' and a BI that is part of SolMan
- of coruse, you have to make sure that the patch queues are consistent (CRT: ST)
- for E2E Diagnostics, InfoCubes are used to store performance data, etc. (as of SolMan 4.0 SP 13)
Kind regards,
   Bernd

  • ABAP sneak preview (NSP) patch without Solution Manager after patch 11

I'm wondering if there is any plan to allow us ABAP sneak preview users to patch our system beyond patch level 11. So far I kept my NSP system up-to-date by patching it regularly. But now the Solution Manager is required to download the current patch level 12.
Is there any SolMan sneak preview available? Is there any add-on to upgrade the NSP itself into a SolMan system? - After all SolMan runs on 2004s ...
I noticed that trial version with SP12 is out - does this mean that the new strategy is to replace with each and every SP the Sneak-Preview-System? If there wasn't the lengthy (and often painful) setup I wouldn't mind. On top one would have to export and re-import all developments and configurations one would like to keep. Can you (SAP) not simply provide for us non-SolMan-havers the Service Packs as a simple and much more compact download (compared to the entire NSP download) ?

    Hi George,
Try to delete the registry keys mentioned here Re: How to uninstall Netweaver 7.0 ABAP trial version ?
To use it, run the clean up tool for the registry, press the radio button for 'Uninstall Service', enter 'NSP' for SID and '00' for the number.
This will only delete the registry entries for the application server, not for the database.
To access the DB via MMC, the service <b>SAP DB WWW</b> must be started. To do so, go to 'Start'->'Run...' and enter 'net start sapdbwww'. After the service is started, you can use the database manager within SAP MMC or just browse to  <a href="http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000">http://localhost:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=000</a>, which will actually use the same HTML UI.
Anyway, if the uninstallation runs normal, you shouldn't have any problems with registry keys.
    Try this:
    - Unistall system and DB
    - Use the registry clean tool
    - Delete the folder of InstallShield (usually C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\SAP)
    - Reboot your system
    - Start the installation again without running any application (no firewall, antivirus etc.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Downloading patches through solution manager

    Dear all,
Can anybody guide how to download support packs or patches form service market place through solution manager. As the functionality has been restricted at market place.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Swapnil,

Go manually to http://service.sap.com/patches and select all you need there and put them in your download basket.
Next start the MO and use the 4.0 system and step forward until you reach "confirm" - you will see all support packages your previously selected and you can confirm. After that you can cancel the maintenance task alltogether and download either directly from your download basked or use the Download Manager.
You need the MO task JUST for confirming them, to select them and put them in your Download basked, nothing is necessary.

  • Applying a patch for calc manager

This patch is said to be applied on the HFM web server.
Then the first step is to stop the Internet Information Server and Calculation Manager Web Server.
So I went to the server manager on the HFM web server, found the IIS manager and stopped it. Is that right?
For the Calculation Manager Web Server, I'm not quite sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. I"m usually a functional application person but I got no internal help from application support now. Thanks!

  • IMPORT_PROPER error while importing patch in Solution Manager 3.2

I have a problem while importing Patch component ST and patch name SAPKITL319 in the middle of the installing patch it shows an error IMPORT_PROPER error and an red light and a message (Error stop). Please help me to sort the problem.
    Satinder Lamba

    Hi Saurabh,
sorry, I am not able to support you in finding the cause for the connection problem.
    Anyway, my recommendation:
    - Delete the SolMan 3.2 installation
    - Install Solman 4.0
    - Apply all Support Packages
    - perform the configuration on 4.0 according the IMG
Configuring SolMan 3.2 is wasted time, if it has not been used in the past. SolMan 4.0 supports implementation / upgrade from/to SAP ERP 2004.
An upgrade in the future costs much more time and money, then to reinstall 4.0 now.
Deleting SolMan 3.2 and reinstall SolMan 4.0, this will only 2 extra days. Upgrade takes about 4-10 days.

  • Lodsapkrn - patching Solution Manager 7.1

    Hello Experts,
Need some help here. I am trying to understand changes in the method for kernel patching in solution manager 7.1 which seems to have changed from method for netweaver 7.0
    1. LODSAPKRN. This command is obsolete. System indicated to use APYSIDKRN instead. How do these 2 command differ?
    2. With LODSAPKRN, we used to specify 1 kernel library (SAPSIDUC) to be updated with the SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB that are specified in the parts file. However, kernel library is now split into 2 libraries; SAPSIDM#00 and SAPSIDIND. Do we run the APDSIDKRN separately, once for SAPEXE to patch SAPSIDIND and the other for SAPEXEDB to patch SAPSIDM#00? Is this correct?
    Thank you folks.
    Best Regards,
    Wi

    Hello Wi,
as Volker already mentioned the SAP Kernel handling on IBM i has significantly changed with the introduction of the SAP Kernels 7.10 and even more with SAP Kernel 7.20. Hereu2019s a short list of the enhancements from customer perspective:
    1) Beginning with SAP Kernel 7.10 the kernel is maintained u201Cas oneu201D through APYSIDKRN. Creating/Patching the kernel library with LODSAPKRN/APYR3FIX and adjusting the kernel directory with APYSAP afterwards is history. This single integrated kernel administration command simplifies kernel administration and reduces the possibility of kernel library/directory inconsistencies to nearly zero.
    2) Beginning with SAP Kernel 7.10 the kernel administration can happen while the system is up u2013 the new kernel will be distributed and activated at system restart (keywords: DIR_CT_RUN, sapcpe). This is default for SAP NetWeaver 7.10 and higher and optional for SAP NetWeaver before 7.10, SAP Solution Manager 7.1 and SAP Business Suite Solutions based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 when using the SAP Kernel 7.20. This new feature reduces the downtime for consistent SAP Kernel maintenance.
    3) Beginning with SAP Kernel 7.20 the shared kernel library usage has been significantly reduced (O4PRTLIB, OS4APILIB) and the SAP initial program (R3INLPGM) has been simplified. This increases the overall kernel and tools consistency since patching these resources for process X does not longer affect a well-working process Y.
I am about to prepare a short presentation on this topic to shed some more light into this. I will post the link to it here when it is available.
Best Regards, Christian Hölters, SAP on IBM i development.

  • Production SLD in solution manager

    Hi,
I have small doubt regarding SLD (System Landscape Directory) in Solution Manager.
We have an Production SLD in Solution Manager dual stack system, and our Production System (Portals, BI, ERP, PI) was configured to Production SLD in Solution Manger.
We are planning to apply patches for our live production Solution Manager System, I know that SLD will stop while doing the Patches on Solution Manager and this will make our production systems stop working.
Therefore I need to know the correct way around this to allow us to patches for our Solution Manager system.
    Thanks and Regards
    Pavan Morishetty.

    Joshi,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
But in our company we don't want to change our Production SLD from Solman system to any other System (eg. PI, Portal).
If you any other suggestion please update me for applying the patches in Solman System.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Solution Manager Stack upgrade

    Hi,
I am downloading patches for Solution Manager 4.0 from stack 06 to stack 09.
However in the step 3 of download I am not getting new levels of components ST-SER.
Where as if I try to move from stack 06 to stack 08 I get 2 new levels of components ST-SER.
In the schedules for SP Stack 07 and 08 I can see levels SP04, SP05 and SP06
and in SP Stacks 09 it shows levels 700_2006_2 SP00 and 700_2006_2 SP01.
Any idea why I am not getting components of ST-SER when I try to upgrade from stack 06 to stack 09.
    Thanks
    Parvez Khan

    Hello,
It indicates that your solman has java stack installed and you have to download java stack patches as well.
Please follow the solman ehp1 upgrade guide from service marketplace path given in following links and try to understand the process through some other links/search as well

  • How to make Solution Manager 7.0??

    Hi Experts,
I am totally new to Solution Manager.I have installed it & when it I am checking
    System->status->component version--->Solution Manager 4.0
    ST Stack is - 15.
How to make Solution Manager 7.0?Which Support pack level I need to apply to make it Solution Manager 7.0?
For EWA,MOPZ Configuration what should be the minimum stack level of ST??

    Hello N.Das
Solman 7.0 IS Solman 4.0 . I mean only the name has been changed so it goes with version of Netweaver; nothing more than that. So you have Solman 7.0. right now !
concerning the minimum SP Level for functionalities EWA and MOPZ. There is no correct answer. In your current Level you already have both; but ( and that is especially the case for MOPZ) new features have been added since ST15.
Current latest Solman version is EHP1 ST23.
Depending on what functionalities you re interested in MOPZ you will be able to choose the minimum level required.
If i were you I would go for the last one, especially because it contains new bug fixes and valuable enhancement for MOPZ
On this link you can check what is in what version of Solman: https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089906&

  • Error While Applying patch ST-PI 2008_1_700 to solution Manager

    Dear Techies,
Thanks alot for your fast response.
We are trying to upgrade Solution Manager Stack from
    ST-PI 2005_1_700  to ST-PI 2008_1_700 ,
While applying patch it was suddenly stopped with an error
    "Manual modification adjustment is neccessary"
While I tried to adjust it.
In Note correction tree. This the message with " green tick"
"0001293326 EWA: Newest ST-PI Is Rated 'Outdated'; Wrong RTCCTOOL Date"
and is not allowing me to proceed further.
    How to go about.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Varun,
    Thanks for your reply.
As suggested by you, I executed "RTCCTOOL" programme.
It Has given that 4 notes were in red status.
    They are.
            1. [Note 69455  ]      Addon upgrade ST-A/PI 01N_700SOL
Description     "Servicetools for Applications Plug-In" for Solution Manager 4.0-7.10  (Addon delta upgrade package)
Implementation  From http://service.sap.com/supporttools->ST-A/PI download the addon upgrade package ST-A/PI
01N_700SOL. Upload to tx SAINT (just as you would  do for an installation) and install as per note 69455
Then restart report RTCCTOOL and choose 'List->Refresh from SAPNet'.
            4. [Note 539977  ]     ST-PI Support Packages
Description     Addon supportpackage level 4 for ST-PI 2008_1_700 for 7.00 [patches up to level 4 for Basis tools for  services]
Implementation  Open http://service.sap.com/supporttools-> ST-PI 2008_1_700 ->Supportpk. Add patch SAPKITLRD4 (and predecessors if not yet implemented) to download basket. Release basket via  Maintenance optimizer. Upload from frontend int  transaction SPAM, define a queue and import the queue.
            6. [Note 539977  ]     Note 1312413 for ST-PI
Description     Maintenance Certificates for SPAM/SAINT may get periodically overwritten by invalid ones on ST-PI
2008_1_7* SP 00. Prevent this proactively, even if you do not yet use the automatic maint. certificate
                                  distribution.
Implementation  We recommend that you implement the Supportpackage SP1 for ST-PI 2008_1* to solve the error. Only if
not possible implement note 1312413   with not version >=12 using SNOTE. Regarding automatic maint.
                                      certificate distribution see http://service.sap.com/maintenancecertificate.
            9. [Note 1293326  ]    EWA serviceprep correct. in sequence.
Description     Wrong alerts appear in EWAlert Service preparation section (Newest ST-PI Rated Outdated / Wrong
                          RTCCTOOL Date) if Solution Manager ST-SER < 701_2008_2 SP1 and satellites on ST-PI 2008_1* / ST-A/PI 01L*.
Implementation  Implement the coding correction of this note 1293326   with SNOTE to solve the wrong service preparation alerts. Else if you do not mind the wrong alerts simply set this recommendation manually to green after reading.
    These are in green status
    Successfully implemented addons/ transports/ notes
            2. [Note 69455  ]    Proc. after addon impl.

            8. [Note 12103  ]    Collectors and TCOLL.
While I tried to implement the note "69455" system is giving the message that there are no valid corrections and is coming out of the process
"Note 0000069455 cannot be implemented since no valid correction is available."
And is same for other notes also.
    How to go ahead.
